There is a number commercial tools provided by SAS, Oracle, Microsoft, etc., that allow to de-duplicate or merging names of individuals or companies coming from multiple sources. However, after reading the answers to the question mentioned before, I wondered why a seemingly interesting problem didn't receive any answers mentioning open source projects that could tackle the problem. • Where can I find a powerful, standards compliant, web-based interactive org chart API?

  Hi, I'm looking to build an interactive web-based org chart for a large organization. I somewhat like the interface at ancestry.com where you can hover over people and pan/zoom around and click on different nodes to make them the root. Ideally, I'd like it if people could belong to multiple organizational entities like committees, working groups, etc. In other words the API should support graphs in general, not just trees. I'd like to be able to visually explode each organizational substructure into substituents by clicking on it, with a nice animation of the employees ballooning or spilling out so you can really interactively drill down through the organization. I found http://code.google.com/apis/visualization/documentation/gallery/orgchart.html but it looks a bit rudimentary. I know there are desktop tools like OrgPlus and Visio that can build static charts but I'm really looking for a free, web-based API with open standards-based output like SVG or HTML5 Canvas elements rather than Flash or some proprietary output. Something I can embed into a custom web application and style myself. Something interactive.

Without fail, every programming language I've ever seen, used or heard of has it's keywords based around English. if, else, while, for, query, foreach, image, path, extension, the list goes on, are all based around English words. Are there any languages, or ports of languages that base their core keywords based on non-english words to lower the wall for non-english speaking programmers? This is mostly for intrest (English is my first language so it's no problem for me). Are these languages popular locally (I.E. might a software development house in Germany use a programming language based in German over one based in English).

  I have three switches I'd like to configure in a loop - a Cisco stack (3750s) and two HP 2900 series. Each is connected to the next with a 10 gig backplane of one form or another. How do I configure the spanning tree on these systems to make this function correctly? From the documents I've looked at it looks like I need to set both sets of hardware to use MST mode but I'm not sure past that point. The trunking, etc is all set up as needed.   I think back in the old days, some email programs let users Paste an image right inside the email content. (maybe WinMail or Outlook?) So for example, we can write some text, embed an image, and then write some more text, and embed another image. The recipient will get the email content in the above text-image-text-image order (instead of having all images attached at the end of email) Can any web-based email program do that? Note that the image is not just a link, but a complete file. For example, Gmail lets us paste an image, but it is actually just a link to some web location. Can the actual file content be embedded instead?

  I have to average grades based on each objective for a new report card we have to complete this year. For example Column one has students names, each additional column will have the objective associated with the assignment. I would like to move the entire column to another sheet for each objective. Is there a formula or macro that will do that. For example objective 3.1A is in columns 2, 5, and 7, objective 3.2B is located in columns 1, 4, 10, and 12, objective 3.4c is in column 3, 6, 9, and 11. I would like to have a spreadsheet for each objective.

  Hi, How I can configure the path where the stdout logs are written by the WebLogic server? I've read about -Dweblogic.log.RedirectStdoutToServerLogEnabled=true, but this redirects only part of the output. For example if I will run a thread dump, the output will remain in the original log file. I think it should be an option in nodemanager/startup.properties file. WebLogic version is 10.3.2.0 and I am using a java based node manager. OS is RHEL 5. Thank you, Mircea

• rhel/centos vs. ubuntu (possibly other debian-based systems) linux in handling duplicate ips in the same subnet

  This has bothered me for quite a while but I never found out why or how to change the behavior. ip duplicates could be caused by typos or dhcp errors etc., but they do occur from time to time. in rpm-based systems such as centos, the old server with the duplicate ip wins, and the new server will get an error in bringing up the nic (ip address already used). this is somewhat harmless because we can just fix the system that is coming up. ubuntu only the other hand happily grabs the used ip for itself and leave the old server/device without a valid ip. this is the more dangerous behavior because it causes outages. what i want is to change the ubuntu behavior to that of the centos/rhel so would appreciate any help.

• Is it me or is developing web based data entry GUIs a big pain?

  Maybe it's me or maybe it isn't. I don't have a huge amount of experience of developing web based data entry software but do have some. I used to do it quite a bit years ago. Used to use Oracle Forms, Visual Studio, various 4th generation languages, and performing the user interface layout used to be a snap. Now doing the user interface for developing web applications seems to be a huge pain in the rear. Just trying to get text entry fields and widgets to go where they are supposed to go on the screen is a total pain. You have to know Javascript, CSS, JQuery, HTML, etc. There must be an easier way to develop data entry forms that produce the needed underlying code for a web page. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place. There must be some WYSIWYG GUI development tools for the web for developing data entry forms out there. Anybody know of any?

• Which FLOSS text editor is most like kwrite without being KDE-based?

  Among text editors on Linux, I usually prefer KWrite. I like that I can quickly turn on/off line numbers and line wrap in the View menu. Other settings are easy to change. Other text editors I've used in the past, such as Gnome's gedit, bury line numbering and wrapping checkboxes deeper into the menu system, making it more distracting to change while concentrating on real work. However, KWrite is a KDE app. On Ubuntu it drags in over a dozen other packages, which I suspect I don't really need. Why would a text editor need all that? It's slower to start up than some other editors I've tried. I'm also trying to run an all-gnome system w/o any KDE, just to see how far I get with it. So, what GUI text editor isn't KDE-based, has few dependencies and quick start-up, easy to change line wrap and numbering, and general similarity to KWrite? What comes closest?

  So do you still need specific software/drivers (intel matrix?) installed to manage the raid controller, setup the array. If the raid chipset is on-board the motherboard and it uses the CPU, and say I am using a Core 2 Quad Q9550, would a hardware based card still out perform the motherboard chipset? This is for a home workstation and I could spend $300 on a areca ARC-1210 PCI-Express x8 SATA II but I want to be able to justify the money for the raid card. My motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P UPDATE: I was going to RAID5 using 4 500 GB drives, and I was going to buy a controller card but this article got me thinking hmmm....Toms-Southbridge Battle

• how to rotate one squid user among multiple IPs based on number of requests processed by each IP

  I want to set up a Squid ACL in the following manner-- For example, my Squid Proxy Server has 10 IP addresses- now I have a user 'demouser'. I want that for the very first request sent to 'demouser' this user uses IP address #1, for the second request it uses IP address #2, for the 3rd request of the day it uses IP address #3 and so on till it uses up all IPs. One more level of control I would like is that once the user has used up all available IP addresses once per address, then it does not allow the proxy request to go through. How do I set up such a configuration on Squid Proxy server ACL? Even a document or how to would be very helpful. The official wiki talks about one 'weird' case- choosing an IP address based on time of day the request was made to the proxy server. The other cases are all regular use cases which are not even remotely near my requirement as specified above.

• Can I split a spreadsheet into multiple files based on a column in Excel 2007?

  Is there a way in Excel to split a large file into a series of smaller ones, based on the contents of a single column? eg: I have a file of sales data for all sales reps. I need to send them a file to make corrections and send back, but I dont want to send each of them the whole file (because I dont want them changing eachother's data). I want the policies to only look at events that happened in last 24 hours. For example for "Windows Event Log System Failure Error" policy if system restarted unexpectedly 5 days ago, i don't want to be alerted daily. • Automatic storing package before installing it on .deb based system?

  The reason I am asking this question is I am concerned about simple rollback (I already read how to find out what packages were installed). So I would like to set global (per entire system) option, that forces system to store each package before installing/updating it. With such workflow, I could update whatever I want, and if for example the newest version of Dolphin would be worse than previous one I could simply go to directory with stored packages and install previous version instead (the previous version is either base version -- on ISO -- or version from previous update). Is there such feature as global option to automatically store each package before install? It have to be guaranteed that no package is updated on-fly, i.e. without being stored before. I am learning LMDE, but answer for any .deb based system would be fine -- Ubuntu, Debian, you name it.
