  • Embeddable unit testing framework for mixed Windows app

    I want to test portions of a very complex app which includes both a major native Windows component and a substantial WPF GUI. Due to complexities I can't detail, it is impossible to run the native portion independently nor can I isolate the areas I want to test (spare me the lectures, we're talking a huge legacy code base and we do have refactoring plans). I'm looking for a unit test kit I can invoke on the native side but must be able to run with the app launched with the managed portion initialised. That seems to rule out the run executable feature of the cfix Windows unit test kit. I really like their philosophy, like WinUnit, of using DLL compilation as a way to add the reflective capabilities missing in C++ and gain a more NUnit-like experience. Ideally, I want something like WinUnit running within the application code and generating an HTML report. I'm trying to introduce more TDD and having things as lean as possible is important.

  • Resizing an image with alpha channel

    I am writing some code to generate images - essentially I have a source image that is large and includes transparent regions. I use GDI+ to open that image and add additional objects. What I want to do next is to save this new image much smaller, so I used the Bitmap constructor that takes a source Image object and a height and width, then saved that. I was expecting the alpha channel to be smoothed like the color channels, but this did not happen -- it did result in a couple of semitransparent pixels, but overall it is very blocky. What gives?   • call function from external js (php) file

    Hi, I have a file where I keep all scripts so my pages wouldn't get messy (I have php file which generates required javascript). My includes basically look like this: </html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="script.php"></script> </head> <body> <input type="button" onClick="return blah();" /> </body> </html> In script.php there's jquery wrapper $(document).ready where I keep all jquery related stuff. The funny thing is, when I put function blah() inside this wrapper I get "blah is not defined" error, but when I put it outside - works perfectly. So, what could be the problem?

  • Modular HTML in Adobe AIR? Is It Possible?

    When I write HTML with a PHP backend, I usually have a single header file and a single footer file with some PHP variables in them. The base skeleton for every page calls the header, contains the body content, and then calls the footer. That way, if I want to make changes to the header sitewide, I change one file. I'm working on developing the UI in my first Adobe AIR app and I'm wondering if there's some way to include such files in an HTML based page template there. Obviously, with the file read/write abilities in AIR, I can write a Javascript routine to pull data from a header file, parse it, and inject it into a placeholder. It just seems like such a kludge. I'm thinking there's gotta be some simple way to import a block of HTML into a page without an iFrame or complex post-processor. Something like a PHP include statement or perhaps the old Server Side Includes. Any methods you guys can recommend?

    I'm very new to Version Control, and I was wondering if I could get some advice on how it can fit into website design. At the moment I'm working on a typical, simple website that includes images: A few .html files and a .css file One folder full of photographs Another folder with the corresponding thumbnails Can I just put the whole lot in a repository? Or is there a better way I could apply Version Control to it? How should I deal with the images? edit: How well will it work with changes to the images? What if I decide to try and optimise my photographs or resize them. I wont be able to see what exactly changed about the images, should comments be enough to keep track of that?

  • How do you manage your sqlserver database projects for new builds and migrations?

    How do you manage your sql server database build/deploy/migrate for visual studio projects? We have a product that includes a reasonable database part (~100 tables, ~500 procs/functions/views), so we need to be able to deploy new databases of the current version as well as upgrade older databases up to the current version. Currently we maintain separate scripts for creation of new databases and migration between versions. Clearly not ideal, but how is anyone else dealing with this? This is complicated for us by having many customers who each have their own db instance, rather than say just having dev/test/live instances on our own web servers, but the processes around managing dev/test/live for others must be similar.

  • Using the C Cluster library in Visual C++.

    Right so i'm trying to use a C library in C++, never actually done this before i thought it would be a case of declaring the header includes under a extern "C" and setting the compile as flag to "default" but i'm still getting linker errors and think that the header file might have to be complied as a DLL. I have no idea really. Is it the library that's the problem or is it me? There are some make files in the cluster-1.47\src, but i don't know how or if they relate to "cluster.h".   • How can I compile an autotools project with statically linked dependancies?

    There's an open source library I want to use. As I want to spread my software as binary package, I do not want the library to have dependancies on other libraries, so I need to link the dependancies statically. Now as the library is open source and there are no binaries provided, I compile it myself. The library uses autotools, and I didn't find any useful documentation on how to link dependancies statically. What I did try is to call the configure script with --enable-static, but this apparently only tells configure to compile a static version of the library - but what I need is a dynamic library that includes all the libraries it depends on. So, I need a way to either tell configure to link against dependancies statically, or a way to post-process the built library to include all dependancies. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Oh, and if it matters: I'm on 64bit Snow Leopard.

  • How can I ignore properties of a component using Fluent Nhibernate's AutoPersistenceModel?

    I am using Fluent NHibernate AutoMappings to map my entities, including a few component objects. One of the component objects includes a property like the following: public string Value { set _value = value; } This causes an NHibernate.PropertyNotFoundException: "Could not find a getter for property 'Value'..." I want to ignore this property. I tried creating an IAutoMappingOverride for the component class but I couldn't use AutoMapping<.IgnoreProperty(x = x.Value) for the same reason. "The property or indexer 'MyComponent.Value' cannot be used in this context because it lacks the get accessor" I've also looked at IComponentConvention but can't see anyway of altering the mappings with this convention. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks

    In my site I have class A which selects the required page module (blog,content,gallery etc). I also have class B which provides sqlclient database objects and sql statements. If I use class B in a web form via "Imports Class B". I am able to access the contents. I now would like to use class B within class A but am struggling to find the correct syntax for importing it. Please can someone give me a basic example. We are coming from a classic asp background, and used to simply use includes. We are using VB Thanks.

    I need to add 2 type of links to existing report with c#. For exapmle: 1) http://www.google.co.il/ 2) file:///C:/index.html I added the links, but only the "http://" works. when I press the link of "file:///" nothing happens. I've uploaded the full project (very small though) which includes the problem: http://www.filefactory.com/file/452gsoyymalv/n/ObjectReports.zip btw, The "index.html" is a simple 'helloWorld' which loaded successfully when writing the path on the address bar in the browser.     While renaming the column name, the square bracket is included in the column name, which I think is a bug, Here is a sample code snippet, create table [TestTable] (TestColumnName nvarchar(30)) select TestColumnName from TestTable sp_rename '[TestTable].[TestColumnName]', '[RenamedColumnName]', 'Column' select [RenamedColumnName] from TestTable -- does not work "Invalid column name 'RenamedColumnName'." select RenamedColumnName from TestTable -- does not work "Invalid column name 'RenamedColumnName'." select * from [TestTable] -- works fine!!! The bug here is that the column rename includes the square brackets, I found this which says that the "first character must be one of the following", but "[" does not seem be included in the list, can there be a problem with sp_rename or sql server itself, as it allows alteration of column name to start with a square bracket.

  • Visual Studio - How to use an existing vsproj's project settings as a template for new project?

    There is some software I want to write a plugin for. The software includes some sample plugins. I want to create a new fresh project but I want to use one of the sample plugin vsproj's project settings as a template. It doesn't seem very clear on how to do this. If I do "New Project From Existing Code" that only imports the cpp, h, etc files into the new project. Right now the only way I can see to copy a sample projects settings is to open two instances of VS2005 next to each other and simply mimic the settings... Surely there is a built in method of doing this?

  • Do you know of a good program for editing/translating resource (.rc) files?

    I'm building a C++/MFC program in a multilingual environment. I have one main (national) language and three international languages. Every time I add a feature to the program I have to keep the international languages up-to-date with the national one. The resource editor in Visual Studio is not very helpful because I frequently end up leaving a string, dialog box, etc., untranslated. I wonder if you guys know of a program that can edit resource (.rc) files and Build a file that includes only the strings to be translated and their respective IDs and accepts the same (or similar) file in another language (this would be helpful since usually the translation is done by someone else), or Handle the translations itself, allowing to view the same string in different languages at the same time.

  • Can an app delete its own internal resources?

    I am trying to find a way to delete an internal resource after an app installs. More specifically, I have a zip file included in the apk, that I unzip to the SD Card when the app is first run. But then want to delete the now unneeded zip file (the purpose being to save the user internal phone memory). I access the zip file with, Resources resources = this.getResources(); InputStream is = resources.openRawResource(R.raw.assets); But am uncertain how to then delete the resource (if even possible). I know one may ask why not simply install the app to SD Card at download. But the app includes a screen widget, and installing apps to the SD Card and using a screen widget is problematic.   • req.getParameter returns values wrong character encoding

    I'm trying to get values from a JSP using getParameter which includes ü,é,à etc. But get wrong values in servlet. I've checked the content type with firebug and found that Content-Type text/html;charset=UTF-8 checked the POST section with firebug and found the correct value there, when I try to access it in servlet it is wrong. Gives ö instead of ö req.getCharacterEncoding(); returns null. Tried with setting req.setCharacterEncoding("UTF-8"); at the beginning of servlet but didn't help.

  • How to update only certain items in a list when using MVC?

    I'm building a GUI that includes a list with quite a lot of items. I allow the user to add/delete/edit those items. Up until now my update method called in the controller implied an entire JList reset (with its obvious performance issues). Now that there are hundreds of items available, updating the entire list is not fezable any longer. Does anyone know of a tutorial or can share an example (I haven't found any to suit my needs so far) in which the JList is updated something like JList.update(startIndex, endIndex);?     I have a ~300.000 row table; which includes technical terms; queried using PHP and MySQL + FULLTEXT indexes. But when I searching a wrong typed term; for example "hyperpext"; naturally giving no results. I need to "compansate" little writing errors and getting nearest record from database. How I can accomplish such feaure? I know (actually, learned today) about Levenshtein distance, Soundex and Metaphone algorithms but currently not having a solid idea to implement this to querying against database. Best regards.   • Get client timezone (not GMT offset amount) in JS

    I need to determine the client timezone (e.g. CET, GMT, EST) in JS. Getting the offset is straightforward, but doesn't have all the info necessary to determine the TZ, at least not easily. I have a feeling it might be possible to use a combination of offset, whether DST is in use and in effect, etc. but I'm hoping someone else has done the work already, especially considering the weird exceptions when dealing with time. This question is similar but both the question and the answer are based on the (incorrect) assumption every browser's DateString format includes the name of the timezone - which it does not. That is an implementation detail. So, with that I am currently stuck.

    I have a program that doesn't seem to recognize declared types in the latest U3D software. There's a line typedef BOOL (WINAPI* GMI)(HMON, LPMONITORINFOEX); which gets the error: Error 1 error C2061: syntax error : identifier 'LPMONITORINFOEX' c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 28 and a line MONITORINFOEX miMon; which gets Error 5 error C2065: 'miMon' : undeclared identifier c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 49 Error 3 error C2065: 'MONITORINFOEX' : undeclared identifier c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 49 The program's first non-comment statement is #include <windows.h>, which includes winuser.h, which defines these identifiers. In Visual Studio, I can right-click on them and go to the definition (a typedef) and from the typedef to the struct. WINAPI is defined in WinDef.h, so that seems to be working. There are no redefinitions of LPMONITORINFOEX or MONITORINFOEX in any other file. So, how can this be happening, and what can I do about it?

  • How to create and show views on command request?

    Hi, I've started using mvvm-light toolkit , and new to WPF. My question is: I want to create an pplication where the main window includes a grid with 2 columns 1 col command and col2 will display views when each command will be pressed. i want the views to be created on command and colsed from it's own view. I've tried to figure out how to do it but with no success. I don't know how to write this kind of funconality using the mvvm light. I just know how to create main window with mainview and another view creted already on load. Please help me out.. I'm using 2008 WPF3.5 Shirly. Make me happy today.. i've just started the week!!!
