• Serializing a list of Key/Value pairs to XML

  I have a list of key/value pairs I'd like to store in and retrieve from a XML file. So this task is similar as described here. I am trying to follow the advice in the marked answer (using a KeyValuePair and a XmlSerializer) but I don't get it working. What I have so far is a "Settings" class ... public class Settings { public int simpleValue; public List<KeyValuePair<string, int>> list; } ... an instance of this class ... Settings aSettings = new Settings(); aSettings.simpleValue = 2; aSettings.list = new List<KeyValuePair<string, int>>(); aSettings.list.Add(new KeyValuePair<string, int>("m1", 1)); aSettings.list.Add(new KeyValuePair<string, int>("m2", 2)); ... and the following code to write that instance to a XML file: XmlSerializer serializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(Settings)); TextWriter writer = new StreamWriter("c:\\testfile.xml"); serializer.Serialize(writer, aSettings); writer.Close(); The resulting file is: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Settings xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <simpleValue>2</simpleValue> <list> <KeyValuePairOfStringInt32 /> <KeyValuePairOfStringInt32 /> </list> </Settings> So neither key nor value of the pairs in my list are stored though the number of elements is correct. Obviously I am doing something basically wrong. My questions are: How can I store the key/value pairs of the list in the file? How can I change the default generated name "KeyValuePairOfStringInt32" of the elements in the list to some other name like "listElement" I'd like to have?

• ETL Operation - Return Primary Key

  I am using Talend to populate a data warehouse. My job is writing customer data to a dimension table and transaction data to the fact table. The surrogate key (p_key) on the fact table is auto-incrementing. When I insert a new customer, I need my fact table to reflect the id of the related customer. As I mentioned my p_key is auto auto_incrementing so I can't just insert an arbitrary value for the p_key. Any thought on how I can insert a row into my dimension table and still retrieve the primary key to reference in my fact record? Thanks.

Here is my sample data: **Name** **Abbrev** Mike M Tom T Jim J Using that data, I want to create an array in php that is of the following: 1|Mike|M 2|Tom|T 3|Jim|j I tried array_push($values, 'name', 'abbreviation') [pseudo code], which gave me the following: 1|Mike 2|M 3|Tom 4|T 5|Jim 6|J I need to do a look up against this array to get the same key value, if I look up "Mike" or "M". What is the best way to write my result set into an array as set above where name and abbreviation share the same key?

• Active Merchant Paypal Recurring Pem Error Neither Pub Nor Priv Key

  Hi, I am trying to use ActiveMerchant to make a Paypal Recurring transaction call. I used the patch here: http://blog.vuzit.com/2008/08/01/paypal-website-payments-pro-us-with-recurring-billing-and-activemerchant/ and I'm stuck on this here: ActiveMerchant::Billing::PaypalGateway.pem_file = File.read('paypal_cert.pem') I am fairly sure the pem file is correctly downloaded from paypal. The error I receive is: /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activemerchant-1.5.1/lib/active_merchant/lib/connection.rb:129:in initialize': Neither PUB key nor PRIV key:: nested asn1 error (OpenSSL::PKey::RSAError) from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activemerchant-1.5.1/lib/active_merchant/lib/connection.rb:129:innew' from calling the commit method from line 49 of paypal_pro_recurring. I simply have 2 files - paypal_pro_recurring.rb from the tutorial and paypalTest.rb which I wrote and simply requires all files and calls the function. I hope the error isn't something stupid like I must require from an environment file or something. Thanks all!

• Handle tab key in ToolStripComboBox

  Hi, I have a ToolStripComboBox in a ToolStrip, and when I press TAB key in it, it gives focus to the next toolstrip button. I would like to change this behavior and give focus to a richtextbox on my form instead. The problem is that ToolStripComboBox does not have PreviewKeyDown event. And PreviewKeyDown of the hosting ToolStrip Toolbar is not called when tab key is pressed in the combo (just when pressed and some toolstripbutton is focused). TabStop of the toolstrip toolbar is false. Any ideas?

• fourier transform to transpose key of a wav file

  I want to write an app to transpose the key a wav file plays in (for fun, I know there are apps that already do this)... my main understanding of how this might be accomplished is to 1) chop the audio file into very small blocks (say 1/10 a second) 2) run an FFT on each block 3) phase shift the frequency space up or down depending on what key I want 4) use an inverse FFT to return each block to the time domain 5) glue all the blocks together But now I'm wondering if the transformed blocks would no longer be continuous when I try to glue them back together. Are there ideas how I should do this to guarantee continuity, or am I just worrying about nothing?

  I need a HashSet implementation where the elements are a pair of Integers eg. Set s = { {1,2} , {3,4} , {1,4}}. Here the set s has 3 elements. This kind of two key HashSet is needed in many situations like, I have a relation in my database where the candidate key is a combination of two columns. Is there some library which already provides this? If no such implementation is available, then rather then implementing the entire data structure from scratch, will it be easier (and efficient?) to extend the HashSet implementation in Java?

If I plan to store the results locally inside another view controller, does that affect the way the array should be returned? Lastly, what if it's just an non-mutable array?   Hi, Dabbling with creating an installer with inno setup- but wondering: What are the pros and cons of using registry keys (windows program) vs. .ini files that sit within the program folder? If I store all my user settings in .ini files, the entire program can be removed by deleting the folder. With registry keys i'd have to create an uninstaller / remove the key manually. Why is it that most commercial applications use registry values? I know from brief use of Macs that most programs are drag and drop. Are one of the major reasons because of the lack of a registry key in mac OS?

  Who has their email fully encrypted ? I would like to encrypt my email but I am not sure how to start. If I use encrypted email and I send an email to someone who does not encrypt his email how can the receiver read the email ? What email client would you recommend to run on a windows systems for encrypted email ? I am using Thunderbird at the moment. As I understand you have to generate 2 keys (one public and one private) but how do you generate this key? I also think that you have to put your key somewhere to download but I don't understand how you can trust the downloaded keys.   I'm a D3.js newbie and I'm learning how to play around with data. Let's say I have an object with names as keys, and each key has an array of numbers like this: var userdata = { 'John' : [0, 1, 3, 9, 8, 7], 'Harry': [0, 10, 7, 1, 1, 11], 'Steve': [3, 1, 4, 4, 4, 17], 'Adam' : [4, 77, 2, 13, 11, 13] }; For each user, I would like to append an SVG object and then plot the line with the array of values for that user. So here is my assumption of how that would look based on tutorials, but I know it is incorrect. This is to show my limited knowledge and give better understanding of what I'm doing: First I should create the line var line = d3.svg.line().interpolate('basis'); Then I want to bind the data to my body and append an svg element for each key: d3.select('body') .selectAll('svg') .data(userdata) .enter() .append('svg') .append(line) .x(function(d, i) { return i; }) .y(function(d) { return d[i]; }); So am I close??

• How do I repair the corrupted files found by sfc /scannow? "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."

  After running chkdsk C: /F /R and finding out that my hard disk has 24 KB in bad sectors (log is posted below), I decided to run Windows 7's System File Checker utility (sfc /scannow). SFC showed the ff. message after I ran it: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log."   I get the following error message The table/view 'TABLE1' does not have a primary key defined and no valid primary key could be inferred. This table/view has been excluded. To use the entity you will need to review your schema, add the correct keys and uncomment it when I try to add a view to an Entity Data Model. For testing, I have created a very simple view and I still get the error. below is the view definition SELECT DISTINCT TOP (100) PERCENT MIN(id) AS Expr4, MIN(EmpNo) AS Expr1, MIN(Name) AS Expr2, MIN(Category) AS Expr3 FROM dbo.MYView1 GROUP BY id does any one know of a simple work around. I have looked at this thread http://stackoverflow.com/questions/745341/can-ms-sql-views-have-primary-and-foriegn-keys but in my scenario, what is recommended is not applicable. If I could only have the view added to the Model.

  We would like to reserve a set of primary key identifiers for all tables (e.g. 1-1000) so that we can bootstrap the system with pre-loaded system data. All our JPA entity classes have the following definition for the primary key. @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = IDENTITY) @Column(name = "id", unique = true, nullable = false, insertable = false, updatable = false) private Integer id; is there a way to tell the database that increments should start happening from 1000 (i.e. customer specific data will start from 1000 onwards). We support (h2, mysql, postgres) in our environment and I would prefer a solution which can be driven via JPA and reverse engineering DDL tools from Hibernate. Let me know if this is the correct approach

  Hello; I am an Emacs lover probably because I love the key binding and I am able to do things very quickly. I also use Eclipse IDE for my Java/Android/Python/ development because it is free, most of my peers use it, and it works. I find myself switching between emacs and Eclipse and the workflow just isn't great. What I would like to do is setup the key bindings in Eclipse so that they are like Emacs. Can someone suggest the best Eclipse plugin I could use for this. Or can anyone talk about how they've used Eclipse to be more Emacs like. Thanks in advance

  I have a table with four Columns. Col1, Col2, Col3, and Col4. Col1, Col2, Col3 is string and Col4 is a integer primary key with Auto Increment. Now my requirement is to have unique combination of Col2 and Col3. I mean to say like. Insert into table(Col1,Col2,Col3) Values('val1','val2','val3'); Insert into table(Col1,Col2,Col3) Values('val4','val2','val3'); the second statement has to throw error as the same combination of 'val2','val3' is present in the table. But i cant make it as a primary key as i need a auto increment column and for that matter the col4 has to be primary. Please let me know a approach by which i can have both in my table.   I have table A with a primary id, a table B with a primary key id also and another table C with a primary key id and rows Aid and Bid where Aid and Bid are foreign keys of C and the primary keys of A and B respectively. One way of populating these DB would be populating table A, table B and table C separately. I would like to know if there is a more clever way of doing it, where I could populate A first and at the same time I populate B, I can indicate that an entry in C should be also created. • There is no Key attribute in EF CTP 5

  According to the blog post here Data Annotations in the Entity Framework there should be an attribute for a column called "Key" which allows you to mark the primary key of an entity. However I cannot locate this in .Net 3.5 or .Net 4.0. What have I missed? I've included the reference to EntityFramework.dll and I've checked all the attributes under System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotations but I cannot locate it. I have set my project to .Net 4.0 full (not client profile). Any ideas?
