  • SharePoint View to automatically show only the current month?

    I need to create a view that will automatically change from month to month to show only the current month (i.e. if current month is July - show items posted in July). Currently I have a view set up, but I have to manually change the month each time it changes (it's set up based on the first day of the current month and the last day of current month). Thanks

  • Why connection in Python's DB-API does not have "begin" operation?

    Working with cursors in mysql-python I used to call "BEGIN;", "COMMIT;", and "ROLLBACK;" explicitly as follows: try: cursor.execute("BEGIN;") # some statements cursor.execute("COMMIT;") except: cursor.execute("ROLLBACK;") then, I found out that the underlying connection object has the corresponding methods: try: cursor.connection.begin() # some statements cursor.connection.commit() except: cursor.connection.rollback() Inspecting the DB-API PEP I found out that it does not mention the begin() method for the connection object, even for the extensions. Mysql-python, by the way, throws the Deprecation Warning, when you use the method. sqlite3.connection, for example, does not have the methd at all. And the question is why there is no such method in the PEP? Is the statement somehow optional, is it enough to invoke commit() instead?

  • What is a reasonly priced map API solution for a startup?

    I've been developing my application with Google Maps and the wonderful rails plugin for it, expecting to find that when I put my app into production that the commercial licensing wouldn't be too expensive. Then I found out it cost $10,000/year, no exceptions so far. http://www.47hats.com/2009/07/google-maps-the-10k-gotcha/ That's not a terrible price to pay for unlimited usage when your site becomes successful, but for those of us trying to build something from the ground up, that's a hefty price to pay. I've looked at Bing and Yahoo but they're very wishy-washy with what ballpark the pricing is. That on top of the fact I have to ditch my nice rails plugin YM4R for Google maps... Is anyone out there using a map API solution that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get started with in a commercial aspect? I don't mind not using a plugin, I just need something that will work and is cost affordable in the beginning.

    Hello, everyone! I have a project (related to graph algorithms). It is written by someone else. The code is horrible: public fields, no getters/setters huge methods, all public some classes have over 20 fields some classes have over 5 constructors (which are also huge) some of those constructors just left many fields null (so I can't make some fields final, because then every second constructor signals errors) methods and classes rely on each other in both directions I have to rewrite this into a clean and understandable API. Problem is: I myself don't understand anything in this code. Please give me hints on analyzing and understanding such code. I was thinking, perhaps, there are tools which perform static code analysis and give me call graphs and things like this.

  • Google Street View API v3 : how can I avoid having "fish-eye" effect on Firefox?

    I'm using google maps API V3 and I'm having trouble displaying correctly the street view within Firefox. I always get the "fish-eye" view (does not happen with Google chrome). So I assumed that the problem came from Firefox. I took a look to the street view options but found nothing. I would like to know if there is an option to have a flatten street view or if it is because Firefox does not support this kind of feature. If someone could explain it to me, I would be grateful.   • Facebook Graph API: Feed publishing showing up as link type instead of status?

    So I'm publishing to a Facebook Group's Feed in my app, using the Graph API. It works fine, except facebook keeps treating the published info as a 'link' feed item type instead of 'status' like it does when I enter the same from facebook's site. eg: string url = "https://graph.facebook.com/<id-of-group/feed?access_token=<access-token>"; string data = "message=hello"; webClient.UploadString(url, "POST", data); Now when I pull the feed items, the json that is returned has "item":"link", with "link":"http://www.facebook.com", whereas I'd expect it to be "item":"status" and no or an empty "link" property. Any ideas?

  • goo.gl Api: How to know if URL was added to user's history?

    I'm using the goo.gl API as described here. It's easy to use and it works with or without authantication (I'm using OAuth). So, if I provide the OAuth token / secret, the shortened URL is added to the users history. My problem is, that I would like to show to the user that the shortened URL was added to his goo.gl history. The respone you get from the shortening request, however, is always the same, whether you use authorization or not: { "kind": "urlshortener#url", "id": "http://goo.gl/fbsS", "longUrl": "http://www.google.com/" } So, does anyone know a way to find out, if the shortened URL was successfully added to the user's history? Is there a parameter you can add to the request URL that leads to a more detailed result string?

  • Why is this CHOICE element not getting assigned in my SharePoint Field definition schema?

    I defined a new field of the type "Choice" for my web application. It will serve basically as a pseudo-lookup as its contents are defined by the value of a Text field in a list. It is initialized with a dummy choice to begin with (I'm under the impression a choice field needs at least one choice when defined), which is replaced with a real choice later on. But for some reason, this dummy choice is never actually added to the choices! Below is the XML Schema for the field in question. <Field ID="{ALICEH-ASFA-KEGU-IDLISTED}" Name="ddlSystems" Group="Lookup Columns" DisplayName="ddlSystems" Type="Choice" Sealed="FALSE" ReadOnly="FALSE" Hidden="FALSE" FillInChoice="TRUE" DisplaceOnUpgrade="TRUE"> <CHOICES> <CHOICE>BLANULL</CHOICE> </CHOICES> <Default>BLANULL</Default> </Field> Initially, I used a default choice of (a single space), but I changed it to BLANULL so that I can parse an actual word instead of a veritably empty string. Now, even after having uninstalled and reinstalled the feature with this field, I have a choice field that has (still a single space) as the only choice. Even more perplexing, BLANULL is actually listed for the default value in both the UI and the object model! What is causing this problem, and how can I circumvent it so that I don't have to manually set this dummy value each time?

    Hi all, I did developed a custom SharePoint Web Service . It is working fine when using http. But when we configure SSL(https) , it is not working and throwing the below error. Request for the permission of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Security.SharePointPermission, Microsoft.SharePoint.Security, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bcee11233hj' failed.     I would like to know how to add a picture to an event using the Facebook Graph API. I have seen this question and tried some variations on that theme, without any success. The official documentation doesn't seem to make any mention of it. I'm using PHP for this particular project and I've looked at the PHP SDK source code, which is not helpful in any way. Requesting metadata for pictures using https://graph.facebook.com/eventid/picture?metadata=1&access_token... doesn't seem to be recognized, so no help there either. Has anyone come across some example or documentation on how to do this? (don't care about which language it is in)

I can already add my "shared" items using code I've found in various Google searches, but that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I like the functionality of the Google Reader widget in iGoogle, and I want to replicate that on the WordPress dashboard and build a read-only version for the WordPress front-end. Where do I start in the API (public or 'unofficial') to get this built?

  • Should my internal API classes be all in one package?

    I'm hard at work packaging up an API for public consumption. As such I'm trying to limit the methods that are exposed to only those that I wish to be public and supportable. Underneath this of course there are a multitude of limited access methods. The trouble is that I have a lot of internal code that needs to access these restricted methods without making those methods public. This creates two issues: I can't create interfaces to communicate between classes as this would make these my internal methods public. I can't access protected or default methods unless I put the majority of my internal classes in the same package. So, I have around 70 or 80 internal classes in cleanly segregated packages BUT with overly permissive access modifiers. Would you say that a single package is the lesser of two evils or is there a better way to be able to mask my internal methods whilst keeping more granular packages? I'd be interested to find out the best practice here. I'm already aware of This

  • Passing Auth to API calls with Web Service References

    I am new to web services. The last time I dealt with SOAP was when I created a bunch of wrapper classes that sent requests and received responses back per some response objects/classes I had created. So I had an object to send certain API requests and likewise a set of objects to hold the response back as an object so I could utilize that 3rd party API. Then someone came to me and said why not just use the wsdl and a web service. Ok, so today I went and created a "Service Reference". I see that this is what's called a "Proxy Class". You just instantiate an instance of this and then walla you have access to all the methods from the wsdl. But this leaves me with auth questions. Back when I created my own classes manually, I had a class which exposed properties that I would set then access for things like signature, username, password that got sent along with the Http request that were required by whatever 3rd party API I was using to make API calls. But then with using a Service Reference, how then would I pass this information just like I had done in my custom classes? For instance I'm going to be working with the PayPal API. It requires you to send a signature and a few other pieces of information like username and password. // Determins if API call needs to use a session based URI string requestURI = UseAuthURI == true ? _requestURIAuthBased + aSessionID : _requestURI; byte[] data = XmlUtil.DocumentToBytes(doc); // Create the atual Request instance HttpWebRequest request = CreateWebRequest(requestURI, data.Length); So how do I pass username, password, signature, etc. when using web service references for each method call? Is it as simple as specifying it as a param to the method or do you use the .Credentials and .URL methods of your proxy class object? It seems to me Credentials means windows credentials but I could be wrong. Is it limited to that or can you use that to specify those required header values that PayPal expects with each method call/API request?

  • Restoring Sharepoint content database

    Hi, My WSS_Content database had got corrupt. And my pc was infected by virus. I had no backup of my WSS_Content database. So, I copied the corrupt database to a separete disk, formatted and reinstalled Sharepoint, with SQL Server 2005 as before (I'm using sharepoint 2007 ). I used Sytools Sharepoint Recovery tool, that i found on the net, which helped me restore my corrupt WSS_Content database. Now i want to set this content database as my "The content database" for my newly installed sharepoint. I tried the steps that i found in the link :- http://www.stationcomputing.com/scblogspace/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=40 I get stuck at step 3. Can anybody help me. I am really in a big mess.   • How to include a custum list in one Sharepoint site in to another as a web part?

    I have two share point web sites. One is a child web site of the other. For example if my first site is myweb1, other one is myweb1/myweb2. I have a custom list created in myweb1. I want to include that as a web part in number of web pages in both myweb1 and myweb1/myweb2 sites. Including the web part in the same site which contains the custom list is not a problem. But how do I include it in the other site. The web part does not show up in the list. I dont want to copy the content of custom list. I want pages in both sites that have included this list as a web part to be updated whenever the list content is changed. Any ideas?

  • Google Maps API v3... non-mobile?

    I'm trying to make a Google Maps widget for my website but all of the examples are for full-screen mobile devices. The tutorials work when I copy paste them exactly as shown but they don't seem to work when I want them to only occupy a portion of the page. From what I've read, the v3 is the best API yet (for what I need) because of its speed and compatibility with mobile devices. I plan to make a widget very similar to the MarkerClusterer example from the demo gallery but I can't get it working. Is this a common issue? I know I'm being vague but I would appreciate some help.   • Can sharepoint search crawl items in a hidden list?

    I have had mixed results with this. If i have an item in a hidden list, search does not seem to crawl it. But If i make it visible, and crawl it will get indexed. and if I hide it again and update it it will get crawled again! Does anyone know if search is supposed to be able to search items in a hidden list or not? thanks

  • How can I find the nearest intersection via the Google Maps API?

    How can I find the closest intersection of the street I have coordinates of? For instance, say I have street A running from south to north that is crossed by street X on the north and by street Y on the south. Does the Google Maps API allow for finding coordinates of the nearest crossroad (either X or Y) of street A? I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere. PS: The only solution I am aware of is to guess the lowest number and the highest number of building on the street A and to draw polyline between them. I am not sure about this though.
