• Can I force Perl Devel::Cover to generate a coverage report if I killed the build testcover process

  If I am able to start up Devel::Cover successfully and it starts to collect data in the cover_db directory, can I then kill the process and then after the fact get Devel::Cover or some other utility to process those binary Devel::Cover run files and structure files into the HTML coverage report? To ask the question another way ... Can I use Devel::Cover to get a coverage report for a process that I am unable to stop, other than by killing the process? • Xcode, Dev Docs Search Field Loosing Focus?

  I am having a strange issue with the developer documentation (which i have only noticed after installing Xcode 3.2.3). My problem is that as you type in the search field (upper right) it looses focus and immediately starts looking for the first few letters you type. For example if you looking for "NSObject" you start typing "NSO" and as you type the field looses focus the last 5 characters "bject" just give beeps as you need to reselect the field to type extra characters. Has anyone else come across this or know what the problem might be? cheers Gary.

  I need to debug a WCF service but it needs to have an HTTP Context. Currently I have a solution with a WCF service web site, when I click on debug it starts up and then fires up an html page that contains no test form. While the project is running I tried starting the wcftestclient manually, then provided the address of my service, it finds the service but when I invoke it, it bypasses the IIS layer (or development server), so the httpContext is null... What is the correct way to debug a WCF service through an IIS context?

• SDL_BlitSurface() not displaying image?

  So I'm trying to display a simply image with the SDL library, but when I use the function SDL_BlitSurface() nothing happens, and all I get is a black screen. • Lock HTML select element, allow value to be sent on submit

  I have a select box (for a customer field) on a complex order form, when the user starts to add lines to the order they should not be allowed to change the customer select box (unless all lines are deleted). My immediate thought was that I could use the disabled attribute, but when the box is disabled the selected value is no longer passed to the target. When the problem arose a while ago one of the other developers worked around this by looping through all the options and disabling all but the selected option, and sure enough the value was passed to the target and we've been using since. But now I'm looking for a proper solution, I don't want to loop through all the options because are data is expanding and it's starting to introduce performance issues. I'd prefer not to enable this / all the elements when the submit button is hit. How can I lock the input, whilst maintaining the selected option and passing that value to the target script? I would prefer a non-JavaScript solution if possible, but if needed we are running jQuery 1.4.2 so that could be used.

• Can't correctly stream x264 video to mobile via RTSP

  Hello! I'm trying to stream video compressed with x264 and NeroAAC and hinted with MP4Box. When i'm playing it with VLC player streaming works fine, as expected. When i'm trying to open URL with my HTC Hero, it switches to player mode, then starts "loading video" animation, then after some time it shows "unable to connect to server". Sample movies provided with DSS streamed fine regardless bitrate. I tried few encoding options, but always the same result. I suspect nocabac and level=11 but it didn't changed nothing. Is there some more specific encoding options for such type? Thank You!

• How do we achieve "substring-match" under O(n) time?

  I have an assignment that requires reading a huge file of random inputs, for example: Adana Izmir Adnan Menderes Apt Addis Ababa Aden ADIYAMAN ALDAN Amman Marka Intl Airport Adak Island Adelaide Airport ANURADHAPURA Kodiak Apt DALLAS/ADDISON Ardabil ANDREWS AFB etc.. If I specify a search term, the program is supposed to find the lines whereby a substring occurs. For example, if the search term is "uradha", the program is supposed to show ANURADHAPURA. If the search term is "airport", the program is supposed to show Amman Marka Intl Airport, Adelaide Airport A quote from the assignment specs: "You are to program this application taking efficiency into account as though large amounts of data and processing is involved.." I could easily achieve this functionality using a loop but the performance would be O(n). I was thinking of using a trie but it seems to only work if the substring starts from index 0. I was wondering what solutions are there which gives a performance better than O(n)?

• Local Data Cache - How do I refresh the local db when I add fields to remote db?

  I'm using a Local Data Cache in an ASP.NET 3.5 environment. I made a change in my main database by adding a new field. I double click on my .SYNC file in my project to startup the Local Data Cache wizard again. The wizard starts and I click OK with the hopes that it'll re-query my database and add the new field to the local database file. Instead, I get an error saying "Synchronizing the databae failed with the message: Unable to enumerate changes at the DbServerSyncProvider..." The only way I know to get things working again is to delete the .SYNC file along with the local database and start it from scratch. There's got to be an easier way... anyone know it?

  I have a form in a large box, to be filled in by the user with up to 2500 characters. Currently, the cursor starts in the vertical center of the box and I would like: a) The cursor to start at the top left of the field instead of the middle left, so that there is no whitespace above the user's entered text. or b) Somehow enabling a field that expands to fit its text to expand as the text is being entered. As far as I can tell, text fields set to expand to fit the text inside only expand once the user has taken their cursor off the field. Thanks for your help!

• Python Daemon Subprocess not working at boot

  I am attempting to write a python daemon that will launch at boot. The goal of the script is to receive a job from our gearman load balancing server and complete the job. I am using the python-daemon module from pypi (http://pypi.python.org/pypi/python-daemon/). The nature of the job that it is completing is converting images in the orf (olympus raw image format) to jpeg. In order to accomplish this an outside program is used, ufraw in this case. The problem comes in when I start the daemon at boot, if I launch from the shell it runs perfectly and completes the work. When it starts at boot it is unable to launch the subprocess command. commandString = '/usr/bin/ufraw-batch --interpolation=four-color --wb=camera --compression=100 --output="' + outfile + '" --out-type=jpg --overwrite "' + infile + '"' args = shlex.split(commandString) process = subprocess.Popen(args).wait() I am not sure what I am doing wrong.   I am very new to OCR and almost know nothing about the algorithms used to recognize words. I am just getting familiar to that. Could anybody please advise on the typical method used to recognize and separate individual characters in connected form (I mean in a word where all letters are linked together)? Forget about handwriting, supposing the letters are connected together using a known font, what is the best method to determine each individual character in a word? When characters are written separately there is no problem, but when they are joined together, we should know where every single character starts and ends in order to go to the next step and match them individually with a letter. Is there any known algorithm for that?

• How to extract delegates from ViewController class?

  Hi I have the problem that my view controller class has too many delegates and starts to get big. I want to write the delegates in separate classes to keep the view controller class small. For delegates that are programmatically created (like UIAlertViewDelegate) I could do it easily. The problem is in the delegates assigned in Interface Builder. How can I tell the IB to assign, for example, another class as the UITableViewDelegate or UITableViewDataSource? Or how to choose another IBAction method for a Touch UP inside Event on a button? One solution would be to delete the connections from IB and write them programmatically at ViewDidLoad, but since I have a lot of ViewControllers, this would take a long time. any other ideas?

• Using (void)awakeFromNib

  I am trying to run an action when the application starts. The action checkAtStart is supposed to display an alert if there is no text in field1 and hide startView if there is text in field1. checkAtStart works fine if assigned to a button, but when I try to run it using (void)awakeFromNib, the alert will display no matter what and startView will never hide. Its probably something really simple that I'm forgetting. Any help is appreciated!   HI All i am using the device orientation for some functionality like as in stating the as we run the app it should be in the landscape mode and in this mode if we orientate the phone in 90 angle than it should play some video than problem comes video play by default in the landscape mode but we need it in the portrait mode than for playing video in the portrait mode we put the code [ mPlayer setOrientation:UIDeviceOrientationPortrait animated:NO]; like this even this method show a warning but it do work for playing the video in the portrait mode. now what is the problem :-as we start the app the screen we were showing in the starting of the app just comes and disaapper and it just starts playing the video and not come to that screen we even use the default rotation function to make it usable but it doesn't work any suggestion thanks Balraj Verma

  Hi, I have following View COntroller structure: ScrollViewController LandscapeViewController PortraitViewController Each with its own .nib The app starts in landscape mode where many landscape views are added to a scrollview. Each landscape view has its specific portrait view, so I have to assign like ID's to each of this views. Can you tell me, how I can load the specific portrait view for each landscape view when rotating the device? Do I have to make two scroll views? One for landscape, one for portrait? Or is it possible to just scroll through the landscape scrollview an load just one portrait view with the right content based on an ID? How could I implement that? • Computer sending data while turned of

  I have a some what strange problem (which could have and easy and obvious solution for all I know). My problem is that when I've booted ubuntu (now 10.4 but same problem with 9.10) and turns it off it starts sending a HUGE amount of data via the ethernet cable, so much in fact that my router can't handle it and stops responding. As far as I can tell the computer is completely turned off with no fans spinning. I can add that if I boot windows I do not have this problem, just when exiting ubuntu. There are two "fixes" for my problem: Pull the ethernet cable until the next boot Turn off power to the PSU and wait for the capacitors to unload Is there anyone who knows what could be going on? I'd be happy to post some logs or conf-files. Currently I'm using the ethernet port on my motherboard which is a Asus P6T Deluxe V2 with an updated version of the BIOS (maybe not the latest but since it only happens when I've been in ubuntu I don't wanna mess with the BIOS too much). • Opening Large (24 GB) File In C

  I'm trying to read in a 24 GB XML file in C, but it won't work. I'm printing out the current position using ftell() as I read it in, but once it gets to a big enough number, it goes back to a small number and starts over, never even getting 20% through the file. I assume this is a problem with the range of the variable that's used to store the position (long), which can go up to about 4,000,000,000 according to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/s3f49ktz%28VS.80%29.aspx, while my file is 25,000,000,000 bytes in size. A long long should work, but how would I change what my compiler(Cygwin/mingw32) uses or get it to have fopen64?

But this is asking me for permissions two times. 1) when I am registering alarm using PushRegistry.registerAlarm("ClassName", alarm.getTime()); 2) when app start on that defined time. in this and this link I found that if my application is signed then it will not ask for permission when app autostart. but I am not sure about the time when my code will register alarm. Will it ask for permission or not?

• Remove a toolbar when pushing a new view

  In the iPhone maps app there's a toolbar at the bottom of the map view (it contains the Search/Directions segment control and others). When moving from the map view by clicking on a callout, the toolbar slides out with the map view, leaving the next view (a table controller) with no toolbar. I've tried to do the same thing with [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:YES animated:YES] in the second view controller, but this gives a strange toolbar sliding down animation, while the map view is sliding to the left. Using [self.navigationController setToolbarHidden:YES] in viewDidLoad:animated also causes a bad effect (it makes the toolbar disappear the moment the push animation starts, leaving an ugly white space). I'm assuming the answer to this is to use a nib file, but I'd prefer to do it programatically (if possible). How can I get the toolbar to "stick" to the map view and slide out with it when I push a new view controller? Thanks.

• to-many Core Data fetch request behaves oddly with a new store

  I have two entities, Department and Person. Department has a to-many relationship to Person. The Person entity has a hireDate property. I'm using the predicate "count(person) = 0 OR none person.hireDate %@" to find Departments without any Persons in them or Departments that haven't hired anyone since a recent date. When the app first starts up (new user experience) and Departments are inserted and no Person have been inserted, the fetch request with this predicate returns nothing. However, if I create insert a new Person entity and delete it, then save the store, the fetch request will return all the Departments. I've found a work around where, I just insert a new Person and delete it, then save the store, the fetch request as I expected it to work. I've found that inserting a new Person and deleting it without saving will not correct the problem. Is this a bug with Core Data or is this a bug with how I've designed my app?

Then ti starts a background worker in which should clear out the listview and populate the iistview with new information every 30 seconds.
