• iPhone SDK mySQL

  Hello everybody, I'm starting on a new iPhone project, and this application mostly relies on mySQL. I have a mysql database running on my computer, and I need this application to send queries to the server to gain information. One example is creating and logging into an account. I have successfully done this on my windows vb.net application, but I know that objective c will be harder. This is basically getting text from the sql database and displaying it on the iPhone application. If someone could simply help me on that, I'll easily get started. • How to set access-control-allow-origin in webrick under rails?

  I have written a small rails app to serve up content to another site via xmlhttprequests that will be operating from another domain (it will not be possible to get them running on the same server). I understand I will need to set access-control-allow-origin on my rails server to allow the requesting web page to access this material. It seems fairly well documented how to do this with Apache and this is probably the server I will use once I deploy the site. While I am developing though I hope to just use webrick as I am used to doing with rails. Is there a way of configuring webrick to provide the appropriate http header within rails?

  I have a many-to-many relationship like this: A user has_many organizations through affiliations and vice-versa. I'm using declarative organizations and I only want a user to edit a particular organization if he is affiliated and the affiliationtype attribute of affiliation is a particular value. So affiliations has 3 columns , user_id, organization_id and affiliationtype_id I can do: o = Organization.find(:first) o.affiliatons[0].user and get the user now I wish to do this: has_permission_on [:organizations], :to => :edit do if_attribute (...) end That if_attribute should see if the current user is the organization.affiliation[?].user and if the organization.affiliation[?].affiliationtype_id = "3" I hope this is syntax issue ... I really need to get this working.

• How to make music plays from begging of the app until a viewcontroller has been presented?

  Hey guys I have a problem with an app Im making. The thing is I want to add it some background music, but I just want to add it in the main view. My app has 3 view controllers: Main View Controller, Second View Controller and Third View Controller. What I want is to start the music in the Main View Controller and stop it when the Third View Controller is presented. From the template I pass context to the first templatetag, but the context is not available from the second templatetag (inside the first templatetag) - see below.   hey all, im trying to implement a custom error page, what i want to be able to do is have a single generic error page which can display the error which occurred or other information (custom error message). when a error occurs on the website, the user should be directed to this page which shows the error message. so for example if i had a page which was trying to update something to a database, but something went wrong, i should be redirected to the error page which will have some custom text like something like " there has been an error with bla bla bla ... please contact administrator". hope this makes sense thanks

  I am a student right now. Recently, I am working in a project as a leader with three other students. Due to the lack of experience, our project is progressing slowly and our members are frustrated. They do not feel sense of accomplishment in the project. I am pressured and frustrated, too. But as a team leader, I think I need to push them. But I do not know how to do. Do I help them solve coding problem or just encouragement? But if I pay too much attention on it, it would slow down my own progress.   Hi, i have a form where i have the field "Real Cost" i want to customize its appearance and wither it should be validated based on user role. to be more clear is say the client want to show his field in the form or details page and also make it editable for users in Roles "Senior Sales, Manager" but not other roles, so can anyone please guide me of the best way ? should i write custom required validation based on user in role, and if so can you please provide the right implementation of it? some may tell me create custom model for this, but i think it would be hassle plus the Roles will be dynamic so it is not predefined set of roles. i hope i was clear enough

• Lua - Iterate Through Table With nil Values

  My lua function receives a table that is of the array form: { field1, field2, nil, field3, } No keys, only values. I'm trying to convert this to a pseudo CSV form by grabbing all the fields and concatenating them into a string. Here is my function: function ArenaRewind:ConvertToCSV(tableName) csvRecord = "\n" for i,v in pairs(tableName) do if v == nil then v = "nil" end csvRecord = csvRecord .. "\"" .. v .. "\"" if i ~= #tableName then csvRecord = csvRecord .. "," end end return csvRecord end Not the prettiest code by any means, but it seems to iterate through them and grab all the non-nil values. The other table iteration function is ipairs() which stops as soon as it hits a nil value. Is there any easy way to grab all of these fields including the nil values? The tables are various sizes, so I hope to refrain from accessing each part like an array [i.e., tableName[1] through tableName[4]) and just grabbing the nil values that way. Thanks in advance.

  Hey folk my question is quite similar to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/757957/restricting-a-left-join I have a variation in that request though and the comment didn't allow too many characters hence posting as a new question. I hope this doesn't go against the posting rules/etiquette. Assuming i have a table SHOP and another table LOCATION. Location is a sort of child table of table SHOP, that has two columns of interest, one is a Division Key (calling it just KEY) and a "SHOP" number. This matches to the Number "NO" in table SHOP. I tried this left outer join: SELECT S.NO, L.KEY FROM SHOP S LEFT OUTER JOIN LOCATN L ON S.NO = L.SHOP But i'm getting a lot of duplicates since there are many locations that belong to a single shop. I want to eliminate them and just get a list of "shop, key" entries without duplicates. any ideas how? (edit: ORACLE 10g Database)

I have integrate Facebook Connect with my iPhone app. So as per step i have to write path of src folder into 'Header path info' Field in Project Build. I have given the absolute path to 'Header path info' Field. and its run fine without any Error.. But, Now When i Move the project folder to another destination, its but obvious, that path of src folder will change… So Now after moving file, when i run an application, It gives path error. So is there any way to solve this path issue? this comes when i run an app in simulator, and i guess It also won't run in iPhone because of problem of path of src folder. • Active Merchant Paypal Recurring Pem Error Neither Pub Nor Priv Key

  Hi, I am trying to use ActiveMerchant to make a Paypal Recurring transaction call. I used the patch here: http://blog.vuzit.com/2008/08/01/paypal-website-payments-pro-us-with-recurring-billing-and-activemerchant/ and I'm stuck on this here: ActiveMerchant::Billing::PaypalGateway.pem_file = File.read('paypal_cert.pem') I am fairly sure the pem file is correctly downloaded from paypal. The error I receive is: /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activemerchant-1.5.1/lib/active_merchant/lib/connection.rb:129:in initialize': Neither PUB key nor PRIV key:: nested asn1 error (OpenSSL::PKey::RSAError) from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/activemerchant-1.5.1/lib/active_merchant/lib/connection.rb:129:innew' from calling the commit method from line 49 of paypal_pro_recurring. I simply have 2 files - paypal_pro_recurring.rb from the tutorial and paypalTest.rb which I wrote and simply requires all files and calls the function. I hope the error isn't something stupid like I must require from an environment file or something. Thanks all!

  I am trying to get 10 mp3 files in the resources folder and play them when a button is pressed. I have entered name of the mp3 files in a NSMutableArray and read each one after the button is pressed. The problem is that pathForResource: is not working (returns nil). • What's the convention for extending Linq with set based helper operations

  Hi All I might be vaguing out here but I'm looking for a nice place to put set based helper operations in linq so I can do things like; db.Selections.ClearTemporary() which does something like db.DeleteAllOnSubmit(db.Selections.Where(s => s.Temporary)) Since I can figure out how to extend Table<Selection> the best I can do is create a static method in partial class of Selection (similar to Ruby) but I have to pass in the datacontext like; Selection.ClearTemporary(MyDataContext) This kind of sucks because I have two conventions for doing set based operations and I have to pass the data context to the static class. I've seen other people recommending piling helper methods into a partial of the datacontext like; myDataContext.ClearTemporarySelections(); But I feel this makes the dc a dumping ground for in-cohesive operations. Surely I'm missing something. I hope so. What's the convention? TIA

• Bug in MvcFutures LinkBuilder.BuildUrlFromExpression

  I hope this is the right place to post this. The following code fails in the latest build of the MVC futures library. This works and correctly calls my controller: Html.ActionLink<CreatePlayerController>(x => x.PlayerDetails(), "Click") This fails: LinkBuilder.BuildUrlFromExpression<CreatePlayerController>(null, Html.RouteCollection, x => x.PlayerDetails() ) The error is: System.InvalidOperationException: The IControllerFactory 'SF.Client.Website.StructureMapControllerFactory' did not return a controller for the name 'CreatePlayer'. My StructureMapControllerFactory. GetControllerInstance method is never called. Do I need to register my controller factory in some other way? It seems like the MvcFutures code is ignoring it.   I have somewhat of a strange question that is not really technical, but I do hope to collect meaningful advice. I'm building a large web application, basically a photo sharing community site. As part of this site, logged-in users can go to their profile, from which they can see their own things (images, comments, votes) as well as edit their details and preferences. Users can also see profiles of others users (their images, comments, votes), but of course not edit their details. The question I have is simple but it keeps bothering me: What to call the personal links and content of a user? Should they be named "Your": Your images Your profile ... ...or "My": My images My profile ...or perhaps named, even if you're logged in: Fledder's images Fledder's profile As unimportant as it may sounds, I'm really looking for advice in this area. I'm particularly interested in any standards, why an option is preferred, and in which contexts it is preferred.

  [Authorize] property is nice and handy MS invention, and I hope it can solve the issues I have now To be more specific: When current client isn't authenticated - [Authorize] redirects from secured action to logon page and after logon was successfull - brings user back, this is good. But when current cilent already authenticated but not authorized to run specific action - all I need is to just display my general 403 page. Is it possible without moving authorization logic within controller's body? UPD: The behavior I need in should be semantically equals to this sketch: public ActionResult DoWork() { if (!NotAuthorized()) { return RedirectToAction("403"); } return View(); } so - there should no any redirect and url should be stay the same, but contents of the page should be replaced with 403-page

  Hi all, I want to determine the position of the cursor where user have clicked. And display one div at bottom side of the page where user have clicked. For example on stack over flow home page if some one click on the logo. Then the div should be displayed at the bottom position of the logo. Same way if i click on the bottom link then that div should be displayed at the bottom portion of the page. I am using mootools as my JS framework. But any JavaScript code will be helpful for me. • DirectSound affects system volume on WinXP

  Hello guys, I'm currently developing an audio engine that is used in voice network chat software. Everything is working fine - capture/playback/mixing channels. The problem is in using it under Windows XP. I've been getting user reports with information that their global system volume is set to zero after launching the application. I'm assuming that happens because of WaveOut/DSound conflict. How can I force DSound not to affect system volume? Playback device is initialized: DirectSoundCreate8(&GUID, &pAudio, NULL); and: pAudio-SetCooperativeLevel(parentWnd, DSSCL_PRIORITY); I'm currently not able to debug the application, cause I'm using Vista and everything is OK. • Kohana 3: Example of model with validation

  I find examples and tutorials about models and about validation. And I places that say the validation (or most of it at least) should be in the model, which I agree with. But I can't any examples or tutorials that show how that should be done. Could anyone help me with a simple example on how that could be done? Where would you have the rules in the model? Where would the validation happen? How would the controller know if the validation passed or fail? How would the controller get error messages and things like that? Hope someone can help, cause feel a bit lost here :p
