    Hi, Im trying to host my wcf service to IIS. However when I click Basic Settings and Click Test Settings, it has an error. The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built-in account to access the specified physical path. However, IIS Manager cannot verify whether the built-in account has access. Make sure that the application pool identity has Read access to the physical path. If this server is joined to a domain, and the application pool identity is NetworkService or LocalSystem, verify that \$ has Read access to the physical path. Then test these settings again. The version of my IIS is 7.5.7600.16385 and my OS is Windows 7

  • Limit of 88 bytes on response.write?

    I am trying to serve a csv file from a wcf service, as a string response. It looks like this: HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Content-disposition", "attachment; filename=ImportErrors.csv"); HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "text/csv"; HttpContext.Current.Response.Write(myCsvContent); The response StatusCode is set to (int)HttpStatusCode.OK (200) It works, but I am only getting 88 bytes of my csv and the rest is cut off (not shown). Any suggestions on where to look? I don't see any custom entries in my web.config that are setting a limit.

  • Achieving AES-256 Channel Encryption with the .NET Compact Framework

    Hi There, I am working on a business application where the clients are Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional devices. The server is a Java enterprise application. The industry working group recommends AES-256 encryption for client/server communications. This is necessary to gain certification. The encryption doesn't necessarily need to be channel encryption, it could be payload encryption. Channel encryption is preferable. The client and server communicate using SOAP/HTTP, which we are yet to implement. We plan to use WCF on the compact framework. In order to alleviate some of the work required to implement manual encryption/decryption, it would be nice if we could achieve the required encryption either at the TLS level, or somehow using the WS-* standards (I'm not particularly familiar with that group of technologies but I am learning right now). The server supports https with 256-bit AES. Does anybody have an idea on the best way to implement this? Thanks in advance.

    Hello, I've subclassed some UITextField and added some custom properties. In a UITableViewController, in the ViewDiDLoad I init them, and in the cellForRowAtIndexPath I add them to the cell with [cell.contentView addSubview:customTextField]; Each cell has a different customTextField as all of them are very different. Where I should call the [customTextField release] ? After I add them to the cell view ? If for example I call [self.tableView reloadData] my customTextField are going to be added again to the cell, so maybe I should change my approach in doing this ? thanks for the orientation ... regards, r.

  • Jenkins and Visual Studio Online integration authentication

    right now I am trying to Setup Continuouse Integration - Delivery for a basic WCF Service, which will be hosted on a Microsoft Azure VM. The Project is Version Controlled through Visual Studio Online. So I installed Jenkins (also on the Azure VM), TFS plugin etc. and started the first Test Build: As Server URL I used "[VSO Adress]/DefaultCollection" and for Login purposes my Microsoft Account (I can Access VSO with that).     I have been searching all day and reading many tutorials and still I am confused. I am working on a project that has the following requirements as specified by the client (customer - not to be confused with client app): Connect to a remote server and verify that connection was successful. Connect to Web service on said server via SOAP. Authenticate with service using public key encryption Upon successful authentication, push a list of products and categories to a MSSQL database on remote server via the Web service. The client is a Winforms application written in C#. So far, I have created a WCF Service Application with separate services for the products and categories but I cannot figure the rest out. Can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial or tutorials that cover these requirements? Many thanks in advance! Joe

When I am trying to debug the service calling event in the web application, the Just-in-Time debugger is popping up. It is running fine in the normal mode. Only in the debug mode the service is not running and JIT debugger is popping up also Why it happens? How to debug the service call in this scenario?     I am looking to accomplish 2 way communication over http between a .Net service (WCF SOAP or REST, both options are open) hosted on IIS 7 and Windows Forms Client running on Windows 7. WebSockets are not supported with IIS 7 and all other Comet techniques allow only the web server to push data to client and not the other way around. The client will be very chatty, and there are thousands of clients, so I want to avoid creating a new HTTP request for each message to the server, though that is the last option. Is there any way to do this ?

    I am developing an app using WF hosted in IIS as WCF services as a business layer. This runs quickly on any machine running Windows Server 2008 R2, but very slowly on our dev machines, running Windows XP SP3. Yesterday, the workflows were as fast on my dev machine as they are on the server for the whole day. Today, they are back to running slowly again (I rebooted overnight) Has anyone else experienced this problem with workflows running slowly on IIS in XP? What did you do to fix it?

  • Easy way to replicate web page across machines?

    I am trying to replicate a browser page to another browser on another machine. I basically want to reproduce a page exactly how it appears to a customer for viewing by the website owner. I have done this before using some impersonation trickery, but found that it would throw the session state out of wack when the site owner would switch customers. So I would like to stay away from cookie and authentication manipulation. Anybody done anything like that? Is there a way to easily transfer the DOM to a webservice? The tech/programming at my disposal are C#, javascript, WCF.

  • IE8 + Jquery ajax call giving parsererror from dJango : for json data which seems valid in Firefox

    The ajax call works fine in FF. the data returned is in JSON here is an example from FF firebug - {"noProfiles": "No profiles have been created, lets start now !"} When I try to print the error in IE8 (& in compatibility modes as well), it says "parsererror". But the output seems to be valid JSON. Here is the ajax function call I'm making.     Hello, I am trying to set up security within a web.config file for a WCF service hosted in IIS but keep getting the error message: Security settings for this service require 'Anonymous' Authentication but it is not enabled for the IIS application that hosts this service. I have read Nicholas Allen’s blog (link text) and it appears that this is the route that I need to take. However, I am using “binaryMessageEncoding” in a customBinding for my Silverlight service, and as such, I’m not sure how to apply this type of security to such an element. This is how my custom binding looks in config at present: <customBinding> <binding name="silverlightBinaryBinding"> <binaryMessageEncoding /> <httpTransport /> </binding> </customBinding> Has anyone had any experience getting Windows authentication to work with a custom binding using binaryMessageEncoding?     When I'm making asmx web service calls from Silverlight, is there any way to have the (generated) SoapClient objects modify the address that they call the service on? Specifically, I'd like to tack on a QueryString value onto each call that the service makes. So if I have DataService.SilverlightServiceSoapClient C = new DataService.SilverlightServiceSoapClient(); Is there any way to do something like: C.Address += "?Foo=Bar"; Which would allow me to, from my WebMethod, say: HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString["foo"]; Obviously I can modify my WebMethods to take this value in as a parameter, but I'd like to avoid doing that if possible.

    I want to add the return value from the function call to an array iff something is returned (not by default, i.e. if I have a return statement in the subroutine.) so I'm using unshift @{$errors}, "HashValidator::$vfunction($hashref)"; but this actually adds the string of the function call to the array. I also tried unshift @{$errors}, $temp if defined my $temp = "HashValidator::$vfunction($hashref)"; with the same result. What would a perl one-liner look like that does this efficiently (I know I can do the ugly, multi-line check but I want to learn). Thanks,

  • Custom OData operation / customize EF model to hide join table in many-to-many relationship

    I've got a data model that has two tables with a join table for a many to many relationship & creating an OData service to expose the data for CRUD ops in a Silverlight app. What I'd like to do is abstract the join table from the service. I'm not sure if the best way to do this would be in the model (using EF in .NET3.5SP1) or if I should do it with a custom service operation. If I do it in the EF model (not sure how I'd do this), then the OOTB WCF Data Service stuff would make it easy to say [..]/Courses(1)/Modules ... otherwise I'd have to create a custom operation to do this. Is it possible to do this in the EF model and if so, how does that work?

    My company is planning to implement a solution in multiple applications that will help to validate mailing addresses at the point of data entry. We're using UPS's Extended Address Validation (XAV) web service API to validate the addresses. Our current plan is to build a .NET web service that can be used to communicate between our applications and the UPS API. We have applications in VB6, classic ASP, and .NET 2.0, so we'd like to implement a solution that can be easily consumed by each of these programming environments. What are our (Microsoft) options for designing a web service that can be consumed by multiple clients? In particular, is there a way to design a single web service that can respond with JSON (in case we want to validate our web page using javascript) in addition to XML? I'm new to designing web services and want to make sure we consider all of our options. I've heard terms like asmx, WCF, OData, etc., but I don't know which frameworks will support what we're trying to do and where to start.

  • mocking static method call to c# library class

    This seems like an easy enough issue but I can't seem to find the keywords to effect my searches. I'm trying to unit test by mocking out all objects within this method call. I am able to do so to all of my own creations except for this one: public void MyFunc(MyVarClass myVar) { Image picture; ... picture = Image.FromStream(new MemoryStream(myVar.ImageStream)); ... } FromStream is a static call from the Image class (part of c#). So how can I refactor my code to mock this out because I really don't want to provide a image stream to the unit test.
