Hi,
If there is a tool for analyzing memory leaks in a c++ COM Object, please provide a link here
If no such tool exist, what would be the best way to handle memory leaks ?
Thank You
I have a tool that generates tests and predicts the output. The idea is that if I have a failure I can compare the prediction to the actual output and see where they diverged. The problem is the actual output contains some lines twice, which confuses diff. I want to remove the duplicates, so that I can compare them easily. Basically, something like sort -u but without the sorting.
Is there any unix commandline tool that can do this?

This may not be completely programming related ...
In Xcode I wrote a little Foundation Tool application for maintenance. Copy files from A to B , delete logs and so on. Now I want to run the application in background once a day or once an hour.
How do I set this up?
Can it be done with a Foundation Tool application or is there another Xcode project type for tasks like this?
I'm surprised I can't find a simple tool for this. Basically, sometimes as a result of text munging, or using some piece of software, I end up with some text that has some troublesome characters - such as looking a lot like other characters, but being distinct from them. I'd like a tool (preferably online, javascript based) where I can paste the text, and it will tell me all the characters involved, their names, unicode codes etc.
I'm trying to find a tool to check for coding style in python.
For php I've seen there is the Code Sniffer, and a small perl script used by Drupal. Is there such a tool for python code?
Thanks
Title says it. What's the best tool for viewing and editing a merge in Git? I'd like to get a 3-way merge view, with "mine", "theirs" and "output" in separate panels.
Also, instructions for invoking said tool would be great. (I still haven't figure out how to start kdiff3 in such a way that it doesn't give me an error)
edit: My OS is Ubuntu.
I'm looking for recommendations for an easy to use reporting/business intelligence tool that can interface with an sql server or access database. It can be web-based or a desktop tool.
Ideally it would be freeware or low cost, and easy to use for users who are not that technically savvy (below the level of someone who can generate reports and complicated queries in Access).
Any tools I've seen so far (such as Crystal Reports) are either too expensive or too complicated to use for non-power users.
I'm beginning the design of a medium-sized web application. I usually like to design from the top down, i.e., start at the highest level and design my way down.
I am planning to have the following layers:
Presentation (PHP/Ajax)
Business Logic
Data Access
Database
Now I'd like to start sketching out the major objects in each layer and the interaction between layers. Is there a tool more specific to this purpose than just using a graphics/diagramming tool like Visio?
I'm looking for an diagram tool for producing diagrams from text. I only really need sequence and state type diagrams for now, but I'm curious as to what people would recommend? I need something which is standalone, not a web based tool that works on Linux, OSX and Windows.
What C++ static code analysis tool are there on Microsoft Windows, and which would you recommend?
Please state whether a particular tool relies on cygwin, and whether it cost money. One per post as per for voting up & down.

I am looking for a (preferably) command-line tool that can reformat the C# source code on a directory tree. Ideally, I should be able to customize the formatting. Bonus points if the tool can be run on mono (or linux).
Do you think that if I'll build my own custom analytic tool (Flurry, Pinchmedia) and I'll host that on the same server where I have my data source for the application, will Apple consider this as a thirdparty analytic tool or not? ... Problem is that Flurry and Pinch are being banned from Appstore by the newest T&C ... than I thought that I'll build an open source library that will allow anyone to have their own analytic installed on their server ...

Would a LINQ for java be a useful tool? I have been working on a tool that will allow a Java object to map to a row in a database.
Would this be useful for Java
programmers?
What features would be
useful?

We're trying to untangle a hairball of 100's of units, removing some.
It would be helpful if there was tool that would show us what units were explicitly using unit X.
Penganza doesn't seem to have a report that does that. (Although it has lots of other useful reports.)
Can anyone suggest a tool or strategy for doing this, other than just hiding unit x and then hitting F9 ... repeatedly?
Friends, I am trying to convert DO to DTO using java and looking for automated tool before start writing my own. I just wanted to know if there any free tool available for the same.
Hi
I wanted to know if their is any tool that can be used to create sql migration script of existing database in Ruby on Rails.
Also is their any visual tool that can be used to write Ruby on Rails migration script.
RedGate makes a tool for Microsoft SQL Server that allows you to snapshot the difference between two databases. It generates the scripts needed to update the database schema while preserving the data.
I need to find a tool like this for the Firebird database. We use Firebird in an embedded fashion, and would like to push out schema updates to remote machines with as little hassle as possible.
I'm trying to choose a tool for creating UML diagrams of all flavours. Usability is a major criteria for me, but I'd still take more power with a steeper learning curve and be happy. Free (as in beer) would be nice, but I'd be willing to pay if the tool's worth it. What should I be using?
I know there are third-party tools available but why must I go to another vendor for something as trivial as auto-formatting my SQL statements?
What prevents MS to provide a SQL formatting tool in SQL Server Management Studio? What's the catch?
And btw, is there a FREE tool available that would plug into SSMS?
WPF code behind is not displayed in the Visual Studio project view, yet is compiled with the project and is available in IntelliSense. This code behind file (Window1.g.i.cs, for example), is generated by a custom tool.
I would like the files generated by my custom tool to be hidden as well, but I cannot find any documentation on how this is done. How can I do this?
Sometime back I used a windows tool to see what a process is doing. This tool allowed me to inspect functions exported from DLL. It also allowed me to change the values passed to a function on the fly.
I cannot recollect the name(not sure if that was free or commercial one). Could any one point to me solution that can do this?
(Tools like ProcessExplorer, ProcessMonitor helps a bit.. this was better)
Cheers,
Jayan
