  • Service reference addition issue in visual studio 2010

    I am currently working on an application that allows reverse geocoding using silverlight + bing maps. The thing is that I want to add a reference to the reverse geocoding service provided in msdn ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc879136.aspx) i.e. http:// dev.virtualearth.net/webservices/v1/geocodeservice/geocodeservice.svc?wsdl, but when I try to get a reference in vs2010, I get the following error: The document at the url http:// dev.virtualearth.net/webservices/v1/metadata/geocodeservice/geocodeservice.wsdl was not recognized as a known document type.   • SMO ManagedComputer.ServiceInstances is empty

    I am trying to use SMO (VS 2010, SQL Server 2008) to connect to SQL Server and view the server protocol configuration. I can connect and list the Services and ClientProtocols as well as the account MSSQLSERVER service is running under. However, the ServerInstances collection is empty. The only instance on the target server is the default (MSSQLSERVER), shouldn't that be in the collection? How can I get an instance of it so I can inspect the ServerProtocols collection?     Hello, With Android-Emulator I am not able to write/create a file on the SD Card (for logging).     I have a Media Temple DV server hosting dev.example.com with django mounted at /. There is a legacy directory in my httpdocs I need to continue to serve at /legacy. But for this directory I need to redirect anyone coming over http over to https, then prompt for http basic auth. In the virtual host conf, I'm pointing the root to a django application: WSGIScriptAlias / /var/django-projects/myproject/apache/django.wsgi <Directory /var/django-projects/myproject/apache> Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> Then I alias the legacy directory. Alias /legacy/ /var/www/vhosts/example.com/subdomains/dev/httpdocs/legacy/ <Directory /var/www/vhosts/example.com/subdomains/dev/httpdocs> Order deny,allow Allow from all RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80 RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://dev.example.com/$1 [R,L] </Directory> This works. It isn't served by django, and the url redirects to https. However, it serves httpdocs/legacy instead of httpsdocs/legacy (where I have an .htaccess that prompts for auth.) Any idea of how I can manage this?

  • Linux: How to find all serial devices (ttyS, ttyUSB and others)?

    What is the proper way to get a list of all available serial ports/devices on a Linux system? In other words, when I iterate over all devices in /dev/, how do I tell which ones are serial ports in the classic way, i.e. those usually supporting baud rates and RTS/CTS flow control? The solution would be coded in C. I ask because I am using a 3rd party library that does this clearly wrong: It appears to only iterate over /dev/ttyS*. The problem is that there are, for instance, serial ports over USB (provided by USB-RS232 adapters), and those are listed under /dev/ttyUSB*. And reading the Serial-HOWTO at Linux.org, I get the idea that there'll be other name spaces as well, as time comes. So I need to find the official way to detect serial devices. Problem is that there appears none documented, or I can't find it. I imagine one way would be to open all files from /dev/tty* and call a specific ioctl() on them that is only available on serial devices. Would that be a good solution, though?

  • Internet Explorer cannot 'fully' load ActiveX Control

    Context I am migrating an installer for an ActiveX control from Per-Machine to Per-User. I did this by programming the installer write to HKCU\Software\Classes instead of HKLM\Software\Classes. Problem On my machine (Windows 7 with UAC Enabled), the ActiveX control successfully loads. On the other windows 7 test machines (one with UAC enabled, one with UAC disabled), the control 'partially' loads. What is Partially? When a user visits a page with the ActiveX control, Internet Explorer displays a warning message in a yellow bar on the top of the window. If you click the 'Run add-on' button in the bar, the control becomes visible and begins to run, but Javascript code that tries to access properties of the control return the error: Library not registered. Differences between machines On the dev machine reads from HKCR\CLSID\<GUID> succeed while on the test machines these reads fail. Reads from HKCU succeed on both dev and test machines. Reads from HKLM fail on both test and dev machines. (I collected reads using Sysinternals Process Monitor) Strangely, the keys that Internet Explorer fails to read are clearly visible if I use regedit to view HKCR\CLSID\<GUID> on the test machines. Question What can I do to get the per-user control to load on the test machines? What could cause this difference between the dev machine and the test machines? Why can I see the key in HKCR with RegEdit but Internet Explorer cannot see the key? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

  • TortoiseSVN lists files as modified, but they are identical

    I am merging a hot fix from our QA branch back into our Dev branch. Five files have changed. I do a fresh checkout of the Dev branch. I then do a merge (range of revisions) from QA into the Dev working copy. It brings in five files and there is a conflict on an external and ignore property -- which I resolve by "using local" (dev). When I check modifications or commit, I expect to see the five files I merged as the only changes. However, I get close to 700 "modified" files showing up in the commit dialog. If I select one of these file and "Compare with base," WinMerge comes up and says the "files are identical." I have tried this with the file dates set to "last committed" and not. Why are all of these files showing up as modified, when they are identical? What in the merge is causing this? How do I prevent SVN/TortoiseSVN from getting confused this way in the future?

  • How do I configure multiple Ubuntu Python installations to avoid App Engine's SSL error?

    I have Karmic Koala which has Python 2.6 installed by default. However I can't run any Python App Engine projects because they require Python 2.5 and python ssl. To install ssl I installed python2.5-dev first while following some instructions I found elsewhere. sudo apt-get install libssl-dev sudo apt-get install python-setuptools sudo apt-get install python2.5-dev sudo easy_install-2.5 pyopenssl However, I am afraid this is not good for my Ubuntu installation since Ubuntu expects to see version 2.6 of Python when you type 'python' on the command line. Instead, it says '2.5.5'. I tried to revert to the original default version of Python by doing this: sudo apt-get remove python2.5-dev But that didn't seem to do anything either - when I type 'python' on the command line it still say 2.5.5. And App Engine still doesn't work after all this. I continue to get an SSL-related error whenever I try to run my Python app: AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'HTTPSHandler' UPDATE: Just checked whether SSL actually installed as a result of those commands by typing this: $ python2.5 Python 2.5.5 (r255:77872, Apr 29 2010, 23:59:20) [GCC 4.4.1] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import ssl Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named ssl >>> As you can see, SSL is still not installed, which explains the continuing App Engine error. If anyone knows how I can dig myself out of this hole, I would appreciate it.

  • JVM to ignore certificate name mismatch

    I know there were a lot of questions/answers about how to ignore SSL error in the code. On our dev region dev.domain.tld we have configured a app server over SSL. The certificate that is displayed is for somedev.domain.tld. There is no way to change the certificate, it will always be a domain mismatch. So when I deploy a web-service to https://dev.domain.tld and try to connect/call my webservice I get an exception: Caused by: java.security.cert.CertificateException: No name matching dev.domain.tld found And I have the somedev.domain.tld CERT in my trust store. Now, I saw a lot of samples how to change that in the code (using a Trust Manager that accepts all domains), but how do I specify to the JVM to ignore the domain mismatch when connecting to the server? Is there a -Djavax.net.ssl argument or something? Thank you! UPDATE: Or, since I am using Spring-WS, is there a way to set some property in Spring for that?     So here is our problem: We have a small team of developers with their own ways of doing things-- I am trying to formalize a process in which we are required to promote our code in the following order: Local sandbox Dev UAT Staging Live Developers develop/test as they go on their own sandbox, Dev is its own box that we would use for continuous integration, UAT is another site in IIS on the dev box, which uses our dev database. We then promote to staging, which is a site in IIS on the Live box and using live data (just like the live, hence staging). Then, finally, we promote to live. Here are a few of my questions: 1.) Does this seem to be best practice? If not, what needs to be done differently? 2.) How do I enforce the rules to the developers? Often developers skip steps in order to save time... this should not be tolerated and would be great if it could be physically enforced. 3.) How do I enforce these rules to the business group? The business group just wants to get features out FAST. Do we promote only on certain days? Thanks! Josh

  • Suspend not working after kernel update on an HP Envy14 1050

    I just update ubuntu 12.04 to the kernel 3.2.0-30 and together with it a lot of packeges in the system. I am running it on an HP Envy14 1050. When I first made a fresh install of the clean ubuntu 12.04 I had the problem that when restoring from suspend the screen was black, although some backlight was there. I could fix it following this https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/989674/comments/20. Now, after the update the black screen after suspend has reappeared but with no backlight at all and the led in the caps lock key blinking. The laptop is using a ATI radeon 5600 with the privative drivers. During the update process there was an error with depmod . You can see the /var/log/dist-upgrade/apt-term.log file at the end. UPDATE: suspend is not working at all. The problem is not when restoring from suspend, but when I try to suspend the system it gets blocked and the fan running. Only option is to press power button.   • Rails: Showing the latest deploy date in web app.

  • Java map / nio / NFS issue causing a VM fault: "a fault occurred in a recent unsafe memory access op

    I have written a parser class for a particular binary format (nfdump if anyone is interested) which uses java.nio's MappedByteBuffer to read through files of a few GB each. The binary format is just a series of headers and mostly fixed-size binary records, which are fed out to the called by calling nextRecord(), which pushes on the state machine, returning null when it's done. It performs well. It works on a development machine. On my production host, it can run for a few minutes or hours, but always seems to throw "java.lang.InternalError: a fault occurred in a recent unsafe memory access operation in compiled Java code", fingering one of the Map.getInt, getShort methods, i.e. a read operation in the map. The uncontroversial (?) code that sets up the map is this: /** Set up the map from the given filename and position */ protected void open() throws IOException { // Set up buffer, is this all the flexibility we'll need? channel = new FileInputStream(file).getChannel(); MappedByteBuffer map1 = channel.map(FileChannel.MapMode.READ_ONLY, 0, channel.size()); map1.load(); // we want the whole thing, plus seems to reduce frequency of crashes? map = map1; // assumes the host writing the files is little-endian (x86), ought to be configurable map.order(java.nio.ByteOrder.LITTLE_ENDIAN); map.position(position); } and then I use the various map.get* methods to read shorts, ints, longs and other sequences of bytes, before hitting the end of the file and closing the map. I've never seen the exception thrown on my development host. But the significant point of difference between my production host and development is that on the former, I am reading sequences of these files over NFS (probably 6-8TB eventually, still growing). On my dev machine, I have a smaller selection of these files locally (60GB), but when it blows up on the production host it's usually well before it gets to 60GB of data. Both machines are running java 1.6.0_20-b02, though the production host is running Debian/lenny, the dev host is Ubuntu/karmic. I'm not convinced that will make any difference. Both machines have 16GB RAM, and are running with the same java heap settings. I take the view that if there is a bug in my code, there is enough of a bug in the JVM not to throw me a proper exception! But I think it is just a particular JVM implementation bug due to interactions between NFS and mmap, possibly a recurrence of 6244515 which is officially fixed. I already tried adding in a "load" call to force the MappedByteBuffer to load its contents into RAM - this seemed to delay the error in the one test run I've done, but not prevent it. Or it could be coincidence that was the longest it had gone before crashing! If you've read this far and have done this kind of thing with java.nio before, what would your instinct be? Right now mine is to rewrite it without nio :)

  • Detect if a hudson build is manually or schedule (periodically) invoked

    Ive set up deployment in hudson. SVN Build copy to production. I need to set up a schedule build to test for build error which is running every hour or so. What i dont want is the schedules builds to deploy to production. Is it posible to detect, in nant, if the current build is a scheduled build or a manually started build. Or should i create a seperate project for the schedule build?
