    I have an internal windows authenticated website that I need to expose anonymously to external users. extern: http://foo.com/ (public) intern: http://privatefoo/ (requires windows auth) I want people hitting foo.com to see no security prompt, just get access to privatefoo - I know this is possible in a simple reverse proxy setup but does anyone know how to make the proxy provide windows credentials?

  • Logitech Media Elite Func button

    I have the aforementioned keyboard, and occasionally the "Func" key will get unpressed. It gets especially annoying when I try to rename a file, and start winword by accident, or try to refresh a page, and nothing happens (It's the undo - no effect inside a browser usually). I know I can rebind those keys to just do nothing, but I just wanted to know why does the func mode changes by itself? Can it be something with power management/screen saver?

    Hi, I would like to know how to prioritize traffic from various applications. Specifically I want to know if there is a way to give web traffic higher priority over bit torrent traffic. OS : Windows XP Browser : Firefox Bittorrent client : uTorrent Can I somehow shape the traffic such that, when I am browsing, bittorrent traffic gets suppressed (but not completely) and once no web traffic is detected , it is allowed to continue at full speed ?

    I know this may be a question about personal preferences. But, in terms of: speed / memory usage / ease of configuration/ licensing , which is the best VNC server you know? I have tried TightVNC, TigerVNC, UltraVNC and RealVNC , but right now I can't figure out which one is the best (any of these I listed or any other) in terms of what I worried about right now (speed/consumption/config/licensing).     "Ending company IT Admin relationship" has a good checklist for taking over an existing IT system, but I'm wondering as it relates to Linux: What is the most effective way to assess the scope of existing custom configurations, installs, scripts, etc done? Is there any software that will check if the kernel, system files, etc mirror the default files for the version installed? At this point I don't know what distro of Linux the server (though using Netcraft I do know the server appears to be Linux) -- so it's possible without knowing that information that this would be a hard question to answer.

  • cant find nas mediaplayer on vista

    i have a icy box ib mp3010hw media player i have it on wireless and have it connected to my tp link wr641g router and can access the radio on the net the problem i have is vista sp2 does not see it and i don't know how to go about making it find it. i ran the ping test i think it is by going through Firefox ip addy is 192.168.1.101 and it came up with a simple HTML+cgi example which im assuming means it working. i don't know wot else to do.

    Hello, sometimes I want to send newsletters to my customers. The problem is, that some of the emails get caught as spam messages. Mostly by Outlook at the client (even in my own Outlook 2007). Now I want to know what should be done to create "good" emails. I know about reverse lookup etc., but what about a unsubscribe link with an unique ID does that increase a spam rating? Regards, Uwe

  • Sniff UNIX domain socket

    I know that some process is writing to a certain unix domain socket (/var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl), but I do not known the pid of the sender. How can I find out who is writing to the socket? I have tried with: sudo lsof /var/run/asterisk/asterisk.ctl but it just list the owner of the socket. I would like to know who is writing / reading to this socket, and I would also like to sniff the data. Is this possible?

  • Disk Image Tools for Windows Server 2008

    I have a Windows Server 2008 X64 machine that I need to swap the boot drive on. I'd like to use a disk image/restore utility to make an image of the boot partition and restore that to the new drive. Does anyone know of a free or reasonably priced tool that can do this? I know that Acronis True Image will do it, but you need to have their server product to restore images of a server OS and it's prohibitively expensive ($850). Thanks, jon

While I know DNSSEC provides various security enhancements for DNS, I would like to dive a bit deeper(for my own thirst for knowledge!) and would like to know what is still problematic security wise even after DNSSEC is employed?     Recently I've become very interested in setting up a fileserver, mostly for home usage but also because of the fact that I live in 2 places, I need to be able to access my files from both homes. I have already done some research into this but I am unclear about some things. My requirements are the following; Needs to work on both Mac and PC(only using Windows atm on PC but could be good if it supports more OS's to make it futureproof in case I need Linux or something else) Need to be able to set up a folder/drive/network space to act as a link to a certain folder on the fileserver All files should only be stored on the fileserver, e.g. no "shared" folders like in Dropbox where files are stored on the client computer Would prefer it if folders are password protected or that I can somehow specify what users can access the fileserver's shares Fileserver's OS most likely have to be Windows due to other factors outside of being just a fileserver I've already kinda figured out that I will need to set up a VPN so that I can access my fileserver from outside the local network. Probably going to use OpenVPN. Question 1: How would I go about to set up a VPN server so that I can connect to my local network at the fileserver's location? I know that since I'm on a dynamic IP I will have to get some sort of dynamic DNS server - I've already checked into this and I'm fairly sure I know how to fix that. I also know that I will have to forward the port OpenVPN uses in my router. Question 2: How would I actually share the folders on the fileserver so that I can access them on my other computers? I've researched into Samba but I'm uncertain if it needs to be run on a Linux OS. I know that the clients connecting to it can be Windows for example but can the Samba "server" be run on Windows? Also it appears that Samba shares a folder, meaning it works like Dropbox - I don't want that. So how would I share a folder in that case to make it work like I want it to? Sorry for the incredibly long question, I tried to structure it the best I could for easier read. Thanks in advance!

    Hello, I would like to know if there is a way I can share : \\server\Scheduled Tasks On server 2003 with normal users, cause as far as I can tell it seems only administrators can see this share, is there anyway I can change this share's permission and add users or groups? I know I can change permission on the jobs themselves, but normal users don't see the folder at all, so they cant access the jobs... Thank You.

    I'm trying to set up my brother - who has a PPC mac, with 1 ghz processor and 256 ram, with a Linux distro that would allow him to surf the web on the device. If anyone knows of this mac, they also know that support has faded for the new browsers rendering the device essentially useless when it comes to the web.     Does anybody know or have a link to documentation on how the Power Manager of Windows, determines to go to the ACPI power states S1-S4? Are there any settings that can be configured? I know that by default states S1-S3 are disabled in Vista and later (they can be enabled by a group policy). Can Windows cycle through these states while for instance an application is actively running?

    I like to use the default notes gadget in vista, and I want to sinchronize my notes between my PC and my laptop. I'm gonna use dropbox, so I just need to know where does the gadget store my notes. I looked inside the Appdata folder and couldn't find the actual notes (only config files). Does anyone know where they are? They have to be stored somewhere, since they are saved even if you close the sidebar. Thanks
