  I occasionally need to extract a single record from a mysqlbackup To do this, I first extract the single table I want from the backup... sed -n -e '/CREATE TABLE.*usertext/,/CREATE TABLE/p' 20120930_backup.sql > table.sql In table.sql, the records are batched using extended inserts (with maybe 100 records per insert before it creates a new line starting with INSERT INTO), so they look like... INSERT INTO usertext VALUES (1, field2 etc), (2, field2 etc), INSERT INTO usertext VALUES (101, field2 etc), (102, field2 etc), ... Im trying to extract record 239560 from this, using... sed -n -e '/(239560.*/,/)/p' table.sql > record.sql Ie.. start streaming when it finds 239560, and stop when it hits the closing bracket But this isnt working as I hoped, it just results in the full insert batch being output. Please can someone give me some pointers as to where Im going wrong? Would I be better off using awk for extracting segments of lines, and use sed for extracting lines within a file?

• If I don't want subdomains to send out email, do I need SPF records for them?

  I have a main domain with (now) valid SPF record, but we also programmatically create lots and lots of subdomains for clients via cpanel PHPXML API. These subdomains are not intended to send any mail. When we create them, they are getting an A record of my ip, and a TXT record of "v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:[MY IP] ?all". Those are all the DNS records they have Recently we have had a lot of email spoofing and realized there was an invalid (duplicate SPF) for our main domain. We just fixed that, but are unsure if: 1) Can spammers still spoof email from subdomains without MX records, with above current listed SPF? 2) Is it better to have no SPF for subdomains than the one I have listed? 3) Is there a way to prevent subdomains from sending/spoofing email via my main domain's SPF? Here is the main domain SPF that our host suggested we switch to: "v=spf1 a mx ptr a:dedrelay.[webhost].com include:dedrelay.[webhost].com ~all"

  In Javascript, when your getting a property of an object, is there a performance penalty to getting the whole object vs only getting a property of that object? Also Keep in mind I'm not talking about DOM access these are pure simple Javascript objects.   Since Google Cloud DNS does not currently support the record types for DNSSEC, is there any way to begin implementation of DNSSEC using TXT records? If I were using Google Cloud DNS, which I am, and they currently only support record types which include SOA, A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, SPF, SRV, PTR and TXT: am I able to do it while constricted to these record types? Or do I have to wait until support is hard-coded into the service? I am just wondering because I would really like to ensure absolute integrity for my company so that I only convey realness in it's purity. =D

• How do I set the LRECL in C#.NET?

  I have been trying to ftp a dtl file from .net to, what I beleive, is an AS400. The error being reported back to me is: "One or more lines have been truncated" and the admin is saying the file is coming over with 256 lines that have variable length columns. I found this explanation online: we have to establish defaults because no specifics about the file exist. The default RECFM is V and LRECL is 256. This means that SAS will scan the input record looking for the CR & LF to tell us that we are at the EOR. If the marker isn't found within the limit of the LRECL, SAS discards the data from the LRECL value to the end of the record and adds a message to the Log that "One or more lines have been truncated". So I need to set the LRECL. How do I do this in C# .NET? • java.lang.NullPointerException exception in my controller file (using Spring Hibernate Maven)

  The problem doesn't seemed to have anything to do with Hibernate. As I've commented the Hibernate stuff but I'm still getting it. If I comment out this line message = staffDAO.searchForStaff(search); in my controller file, it goes through ok. But I don't see anything wrong with searchForStaff function. It's a very simple function that just returns the string "test" and run system.out.println("test").   I'm trying to convert a preexisting javascript function into a jQuery function. The function comes from http://javascript.internet.com/forms/zip-to-state.html and aims to convert a user-entered zip code into a state. I'm using jQuery 1.3.2, with all the necessary plugins, but I'm not very familiar with jQuery syntax and how to convert this from plain ol' Javascript syntax.   Hello, I'm writing an IRCd. For this topic it doesn't really matter if you know much about IRC. Its a simple code style problem. Quick overview of the problem: No message may be longer than 512 characters If the message is more, it must be broken into pieces The NAMES reply sends all the nicknames of users on a channel, and quickly grows beyond 512 characters. I currently concocted this marvelous piece of code, it works perfectly. However, its just not "ruby-like". • Idiomatic scheme and generic programming, why only on numbers ?

  Hi, In Scheme, procedures like +, -, *, / works on different types of numbers, but we don't much see any other generic procedures. For example, length works only on list so that vector-length and string-length are needed. I guess it comes from the fact that the language doesn't really offer any mechanism for defining generic procedure (except cond of course) like "type classes" in Haskell or a standardized object system. Is there an idiomatic scheme way to handle generic procedures that I'm not aware of ?

  what is considered best-practice in this case? for (i=0; i<array.length(); ++i) or for (i=array.length(); i>0; --i) assuming i don't want to iterate from a certain direction, but rather over the bare length of the array. also, i don't plan to alter the array's size in the loop body. so, will the array.length() become constant during compilation? if not, then the second approach should be the one to go for..

I was thinking that also declaring a conditional length value for the for loop would be faster... to make it clearer, which of the following do you think would be faster? Example ONE for(var i = 0; i < myLargeArray.length; i++ ) { console.log(myLargeArray[i]); } Example TWO var count = myLargeArray.length; for(var i = 0; i < count; i++ ) { console.log(myLargeArray[i]); } my logic follows that on each iteration in example one accessing the length of myLargeArray on each iteration is more computationally expensive then accessing a simple integer value as in example two?

• Strange behaviour when simply adding strings in Lazarus - FreePascal

  The program has several "encryption" algorithms. This one should blockwise reverse the input. "He|ll|o " becomes "o |ll|He" (block length of 2). I add two strings, in this case appending the result string to the current "block" string and making that the result. When I add the result first and then the block it works fine and gives me back the original string. But when i try to reverse the order it just gives me the the last "block". And as you can see I even used a temp variable to try to work around that.. doesnt change anything though.

I found the issue, and it's because the first for loop changes the array order more times than needed and basically it returns as it was at the beginning. I know that probably there's a way to achieve this by writing more code, but i always tend to nest as much as possible to "optimize" the code while i write it, so that's why i tried solving this exercise by using less variables and loops as possible.
