• Spring MVC: Where to place validation and how to validation entity references.

  Let's say I have the following command bean for creating a user: public class CreateUserCommand { private String userName; private String email; private Integer occupationId; pirvate Integer countryId; } occupationId and countryId are drop down selected values on the form. They map to an entity in the database (Occupation, Country). This command object is going to be fed to a service facade like so: userServiceFacade.createUser(CreateUserCommand command); This facade will construct a user entity to be sent to the actual service. So I suppose that in the facade layer I will have to make several dao calls to map all the lookup properties of the User entity. Based on this what is the best strategy to validate that occupationId and countryId map to real entities? Where is the best place to perform this validation? There is the spring validator but I am not sure this is the best place for this, for one I am wary of this method as validation is tied to the web tier, but also that means I would need to make the dao calls in the validator for validation but I would need to call the dao's in the facade layer again when the command - entity translation occurs. Is there anything I can do better? Thanks.

  Remember MS Paint? The bucket tool? If you used it and clicked on a pixel, all pixels connected to this pixel that are the same are affected. The theory is, I suppose, to check if there is any pixel adjacent to the selected one. If such pixel is the same type as the selected one, check for more adjacent pixels in this one, and so on. I want to implement something similar in VB.NET. Basically I have a 2D array map which represents the map. Let's assume there are only two types of tile: 0 and 1. Now, I got pretty much everything ready: I got my 2d map and I can tell which tile is clicked and tell what array indexes are the ones that represent such tile. Now for the "painting" process. Whenever I think about it, I can't figure a convenient way to execute such iteration. Can someone help me choosing a correct design/way/tip to achieve this?

  I'm developing a webpage and I would just like to make something more user friendly. I have a functional Google Maps api v3 and an address search bar. Currently, I have to use the mouse to select search to initialize the geocoding function. How can I make the map return a placemark by hitting the enter button on my keyboard? I just want to make it as user-friendly as possible.   I have successfully set up this plugin before so I am curious as to what I am doing wrong here. I have built the ability for users to add tags to questions. I am not using tagging plugin here but that shouldn't matter for this. With respect to the auto complete, I am trying to have the form located in the /views/questions/show.html.erb file access the Tags table and display entries in the tags.tags_name column. The plugin set up is fairly simple as you add the following line to your controller: auto_complete_for :tag, :tag_name and the following line in your routes.rb file: map.resources :tags, :collection => {:auto_complete_for_tag_tag_name => :get } I have added the controller line to both my tags and questions controller and also mapped resources for both tags and questions in my routes.rb file: map.resources :tags, :collection => {:auto_complete_for_tag_tag_name => :get } map.resources :questions, :collection => {:auto_complete_for_tag_tag_name => :get } I have played around with removing either or of the above but can't seem to fix it. • Saving information in the IO System

  Hi Kernel Gurus, I need to write a kernel module that simulate a "multicaster" Using the /proc file system. Basically it need to support the following scenarios: 1) allow one write access to the /proc file and many read accesses to the /proc file. 2) The module should have a buffer of the contents last successful write. Each write should be matched by a read from all reader. Consider scenario 2, a writer wrote something and there are two readers (A and B), A read the content of the buffer, and then A tried to read again, in this case it should go into a wait_queue and wait for the next message, it should not get the same buffer again. I need to keep a map of all the pid's that already read the current buffer, and in case they try to read again and the buffer was not changed, they should be blocked until there is a new buffer. I'm trying to figure it there is a way i can save that info without a map. I heard there are some redundant fields inside the I/O system the I can use to flag a process if it already read the current buffer. Can someone give me a tip where should i look for that field ? how can i save info on the current process without keeping a "map" of pid's and buffers ? Thanks!

• More than one unique key for HashMap problem (Java)

  This question is a continuation of this thread: In short: To solve my problem, I want to use Map<Set<String>, String>. However, after I sort my data entries in Excel, remove the unnecessary parameters, and the following came out: flow content ==> content content flow content ==> content depth distance flow content ==> content depth within flow content ==> content depth within distance flow content ==> content within flow content ==> content within distance I have more than one unique key for the hashmap if that is the case. How do I go around this... anyone have any idea? I was thinking of maybe Map<Set <String>, List <String>> so that I can do something like: Set <flow content>, List <'content content','content depth distance','content depth within ', ..., 'content within distance'> But because I am parsing the entries line by line I can't figure out the way how to store values of the same repeated keys (flow content) into the same list and add it to the map. Anyone have a rough logic on how can this be done in Java? Thanks in advance.

  I'm trying to create a map for a game through an image, where each black pixel is equivalent to a wall, and yellow to flowers(1) and green grass(0) so far i had this image (50x50): http://i.imgur.com/Ydj9Cp2.png the problem here seems to be that, when i read the image on my code, it get's scaled up to 100x100, even tough i have it on the raw folder. I can't let it scale up or down because that will put noise and blur on the image and then the map won't be readable. here i have my code: (...)   Is there a way in Haskell to bind the second argument but not the first of a function without using lambda functions or defining another "local" function? Example. I have a binary function like: sub :: Int -> Int -> Int sub x y = x - y Now if I want to bind the first argument, I can do so easily using (sub someExpression): mapSubFrom5 x = map (sub 5) x *Main> mapSubFrom5 [1,2,3,4,5] [4,3,2,1,0] That works fine if I want to bind the first n arguments without "gap". If I want to bind the second argument but not the first, the two options I am aware of are more verbose: Either via another, local, function: mapSub5 x = map sub5 x where sub5 x = sub x 5 *Main> mapSub5 [1,2,3,4,5] [-4,-3,-2,-1,0] Or using lambda: mapSub5 x = map (\x -> sub x 5) x While both are working fine, I like the elegance of "sub 5" and wonder if there is a similarly elegant way to bind the n-th (n 1) argument of a function?

• Group Policy drive maps fail with Error Code: 0x80070043

  I'm running a Server 2008 R2 domain with all Windows 7 x64 bit client machines. All drives are mapped using Group Policy. Which were previously on a NAS We just built a new, huge, fast server. So I'm in the process of migrating all the network drives from the NAS to the new fileserver(fs). The old drive maps were mapped using group policy so I just went in and updated to the new server and selected the "Replace" option. But the drives just plain do not map. I do an RSOP on my machine and the error for the drive map is: Result: Failure (Error Code: 0x80070043) The other odd thing, though it may or may not have anything to do with it, is that the winning GPO shown is shown with its SID instead of its name. The SID is correct though. Accessing the shares through Explorer works fine, and mapping them manually works fine. Any ideas? Thanks Chris

• Windows Server 2008 R2 Accessing NFS share without AD or NIS

  I'm trying to mount an NFS share on our NetApp SAN on Windows 2008 R2. Using XP I have no problem mounting this share without a username/NIS/pswd file etc, but the new functionality in 2008 seems to insist on either using AD or an NIS server (to "streamline" Services for NFS MS removed user account mapping) see Technet. When I go to map the share using "map network drive" no combination of "root", no username, no password, my username works. Using the command line mount -o anon \\172... :n or mount -o -u:root \\172... :n either gives me a network error 53 or 67 error Is it possible with 2008 to mount an NFS share without AD or NIS? If so what am I doing wrong? (Security is taken care off by IP address permissions and VLANs)

  I have followed this document on cisco site to set up the L2TP over IPsec connection. When I try to establish a VPN to ASA 5505 from my Windows XP, after I click on "connect" button, the "Connecting ...." dialog box appears and after a while I get this error message: Error 800: Unable to establish VPN connection. The VPN server may be unreachable, or security parameters may not be configured properly for this connection. ASA version 7.2(4) ASDM version 5.2(4) Windows XP SP3 Windows XP and ASA 5505 are on the same LAN for test purposes. Edit 1: There are two VLANs defined on the cisco device (the standard setup on cisco ASA5505). - port 0 is on VLAN2, outside; - and ports 1 to 7 on VLAN1, inside. I run a cable from my linksys home router (10.50.10.1) to the cisco ASA5505 router on port 0 (outside). Port 0 have IP 192.168.1.1 used internally by cisco and I have also assigned the external IP 10.50.10.206 to port 0 (outside). I run a cable from Windows XP to Cisco router on port 1 (inside). Port 1 is assigned an IP from Cisco router 192.168.1.2. The Windows XP is also connected to my linksys home router via wireless (10.50.10.141). • Wrong keymap in games under OSX

  While it's somewhat related to gaming, I believe this kind of question definitely belongs here. On most games, I have a very weird problem related to keymap: they apparently load a wrong map, i.e. a legacy one that has not been used since 68k AFAIK, that is a QZERTY, with M to the right of the L. I can't understand why this happens, I guess they use a bugged library for getting keyboard input, I'm not sure. While I can actually bind the keys using this map, sometimes it prevents me from binding some, such as the numbers. A very odd workaround happens with Urban Terror: if I enable and disable fullscreen, it reverts to the correct keymap (didn't try this on other games, such as Aquaria). It may or may not be useful to know that I use a custom keymap but even if I select the standard keymap before starting the game the problem happens anyway.

• Adobe Illustrator can't open SVG file

  I have a generated SVG file which for some reason won't open in Adobe Illustrator when I serve the file content from my ASP.net application, but if I were to write this generated file directly to the file system from my ASP.net application, the file opens fine! I've put a zip of the two files here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1761973/Files.zip The zip has two files: Map.svg Test.svg Map.svg doesn't open in Illustrator, it shows up a Text Import Options dialog, and upon clicking OK, will show the XML content of the file. Test.svg opens fine in Illustrator. Doing a comparison of the two files yields NO DIFFERENCES whatsoever! There must be something different in these two files (caused by downloading the generated SVG from the web browser), but I have no idea what?

  Hi, Amazon gives us a very long dns names i.e. c-123-123-123-255.compute-1.amazonaws.com Is there a way to map this name into a shorter name i.e. essentially what i want to do is to modify /etc/hosts file, and map the long name into a short one, i.e. aws1 c-123-123-123-255.compute-1.amazonaws.com but because /etc/hosts file only accepts ip address mapping, then I cannot do that. Is there any other way to do this? Thanks

• Folder Redirection - Explorer requires manual refresh

  Hello, I am having an issue where - when a users my documents folder is redirected to a DFS share, windows explorer requires a manual refresh after creating a new folder, file, etc. (Interestingly, not when making a new briefcase) I have tried a number of MS knowledge base articles, a hot-fix and a registry change, all with no success. (( http:// support.microsoft.com/?kbid=823291 ; http:// support.microsoft.com/kb/873392 )) The problem only occurs when going through the my documents icon. If I map a home drive for the user to the exact same location (IE - H:\DFS\user\documents) , open that drive and make new folders, then there is no problem. Mapping my documents to H:\ also resolves the issue, however, as we need folder sync and people logging on off site with cached profiles this is not a workable solution (as H: will not map and there will be no access to their docs.) Has anyone managed to figure a fix for this? Thanks, Pete.

• Multiple subnets on isc-dhcp-server using ddns with bind9

  On my network I have two subnets: 10.100.1.0/24 - Wired/wireless 10.100.7.0/24 - VPN Both subnets are served by isc-dhcp-server running on a Debian VM. This same VM runs bind9 for my DNS. ISC-DHCP-SERVER is configured to use DDNS and update BIND9 with hosts/IPs. Everything runs great until a device drops off the wired/wireless network and pops onto the VPN. When connecting on the VPN, a DHCP lease is handed out on the new subnet but DDNS does not update BIND9. Since the device has A/TXT/PTR records it appears ISC-DHCP-SERVER won't switch them to the new IP. • Saving ink when printing?

  I need a map of the SMC campus, but I'm really sick of running out of ink after printing one thing and then having to pay ridiculous sums of money to buy more ink. The map is here: http://www.smc.edu/campusmap/images/SMC-2D-Map_12-Clr_9-10_crop.jpg I would print in black and white, but I'm wondering if there are any chrome or photoshop extensions, or even websites that transform the image into something more ink-conservative. For example, I don't need the buildings to be a solid color, or the roads to be gray, so it would be a tremendous waste of ink to print it as is. Anyone know anything like I'm talking about?

• Postfix relay to multiple servers and multiple users

  I currently have postfix configured so that all users get relayed by the local machine with the exception of one user that gets relayed via gmail. To that extent I've added the following configuration: /etc/postfix/main.cf # default options to allow relay via gmail smtp_use_tls=yes smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtp_tls_CAfile = /etc/ssl/certs/ca-bundle.crt smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous # map the relayhosts according to user sender_dependent_relayhost_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/relayhost_maps # keep a list of user and passwords smtp_sasl_password_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd /etc/postfix/relayhost_maps user-one@localhost [smtp.gmail.com]:587 /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd [smtp.gmail.com]:587 [email protected]:user-one-pass-at-google I know I can map multiple users to multiple passwords using smtp_sasl_password_maps but that would mean that all relay would be done by gmail where I specifically want all relay to be done by the localhost with the exception of some users. Now I would like to have a user-two@localhost (etc) relay via google with their own respective passwords. Is that possible?
