• FrameworkFolders support for WebCenter Portal

  Oracle WebCenter Content Server includes components that provide a hierarchical folder interface, similar to a conventional file system, for organizing and managing some or all of the content in the repository. We used Contribution Folders (folders_g) which is being replaced by the new Folders (FrameworkFolders) component. The newer FrameworkFolders component fixes a number of limitations that folders_g had and adds a ton of new features. If you have played with the WebCenter Content mobile app, you will notice that it uses FrameworkFolders too. WebCenter Portal requires the use of the folders_g component. Given the fact that folders_g and FrameworkFolders component do not go well together and must never be enabled together on any system, you could never use the new features if you planned to use integrate Content with Portal. I still remember presenting a demo with a colleague for a client and he was showing off the mobile capabilities in Portal (which are pretty impressive by the way) and was getting all the glory; while I was sitting back wanting to show off the Content app but could not (no FrameworkFolders). Not any more; Oracle has released bundle patches for both WebCenter Content and Portal in April 2014 which bring home the support for FrameworkFolders. These patches will bring these products to version 11.1.1.8.3. You can enable support for FrameworkFolders on new Content and Portal installations where the folders_g component has never been enabled using the following patches: Download and apply the WebCenter Content MLR03 patch 18088049. Download and apply the WebCenter Portal BP3 patch 18085041. Download and apply the WebCenterConfigure component patch 18387955. Before applying this patch on the Content Server ensure that WebCenter Content MLR03 patch 18088049 has already been applied. You can find detailed instructions on how to enable FrameworkFolders support in the Oracle® Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle WebCenter Portal 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.8.3). There may be another bundle patches release (version 11.1.1.8.4) for many FMW products (including WebCenter Portal) in July 2014 which could further enhance the FrameworkFolders support.

• Network Manager kicks off abruptly

  I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 and trying to connect with my ADSL Wireless broadband internet modem using Linksys WUSB600N receiver. The good news is the OS is able to detect my wifi network and I am able to hook to network over WPA authentication with basic settings. But the network goes off abruptly and never connects again until I reboot the machine. I have Windows 7 as dual boot on my machine. The same adapter works perfectly with Windows 7 but not in Ubuntu. Is there anything in need to tweak to make things working or do I need to try any other better network manager on Ubuntu?

• Slow internet browsing in Ubuntu

  I have a dual boot set up with windows and ubuntu, when I'm using windows internet browsing is a lot faster than when I'm using ubuntu and I don't know why. It's like there's just a big latency rather than the maximum speed is lower, there's a big delay before anything happens when using Ubuntu, it happens with all websites all the time. I've never configured the internet connection because it just worked straight away. I have broadband connection through a router shared with some other computers, when we set up the router and internet connection everything was done with windows. Any ideas on what I could do to fix this? Thanks to anyone who replies.

  If you've read this blog before, you probably know that Oracle desktop virtualization is used to demonstrate Oracle Applications at many different trade shows. This week, the Oracle desktop team is at DIA2012 in Philadelphia, PA. The DIA conference is a large event, hosting about 7,000 professionals in the pharmaceutical, bio technology, and medical device fields. Healthcare and associated fields are leveraging desktop virtualization because the model is a natural fit due to their high security requirements. Keeping all the data on the server and not distributing it on laptops or PCs that could be stolen makes a lot of sense when you're talking about patient records and other sensitive information. We're proud to be supporting the Oracle Health Sciences team at DIA2012 by hosting all of the Oracle healthcare related demos on a central server, and providing simple, smart card based access using our Sun Ray Clients. • How to handle wildly varying rendering hardware / getting baseline

  I've recently started with mobile programming (cross-platform, also with desktop) and am encountering wildly differing hardware performance, in particular with OpenGL and the GPU. I know I'll basically have to adjust my rendering code but I'm uncertain of how to detect performance and what reasonable default settings are. I notice that certain shader functions are basically free in a desktop implemenation but can be unusable in a mobile device. The problem is I have no way of knowing what features will cause what performance issues on all the devices. So my first issue is that even if I allow configuring options I'm uncertain of which options I have to make configurable. I'm wondering also wheher one just writes one very configurable pipeline, or whether I should have 2 distinct options (high/low). I'm also unsure of where to set the default. If I set to the poorest performer the graphics will be so minimal that any user with a modern device would dismiss the game. If I set them even at some moderate point, the low end devices will basically become a slide-show. I was thinking perhaps that I just run some benchmarks when the user first installs and randomly guess what works, but I've not see a game do this before.

On opening the contact on my desktop, I was surprised to see, I need to upgrade my account to view the contact. Doing some research along with my wife, I found this simple security vulnerability from LinkedIn that can let anyone view a contact’s full profile even when you have a “not upgraded” LinkedIn account and that the contact is a “3rd + Everyone Else”. Here’s an example of what I am talking about. I just made a random search on LinkedIn for a contact whose name starts with Sacha. Do note, this is just a walkthrough and I am not publicizing any Sacha. I check the “3rd + Everyone Else” and find a “LinkedIn Member”. On clicking this person’s profile to view, I am presented with the following page, asking me to upgrade. Make a note of this page’s web address and you get the profile id from it. For example, for this contact, the page address is: http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=868XXX35 The Profile Id for this contact is 868XXX35. Now, open following page where the Profile Id is the same as the one we grabbed a moment earlier. https://touch.www.linkedin.com/?#profile/868XXX35 The mobile page exposes this contact information and you even get the possibility to connect to this person without an introduction mail (InMail). I hope someone from LinkedIn sees and issues a fix for this. I am pretty sure, it’s something that they don’t want the user to do without purchasing an upgrade package.

• cpufreq not available 11.10

  on 11.04 I had cpufreq working on my "AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50 stepping 02" processors, however now on oneiric cpufreq won't load. The core temperature of my cpu is normally 40 c, but lately it's cooking away at 75-80+ c and the fan is always extremely loud even when cpu usage has at 0.4%. and after this dmesg | grep -i cpu I got: Brought up 2 CPUs Switch to broadcast mode on CPU1 Switch to broadcast mode on CPU0 Switched to NOHz mode on CPU #1 Switched to NOHz mode on CPU #0 ACPI: acpi_idle registered with cpuidle cpufreq-nforce2: No nForce2 chipset. cpuidle: using governor ladder cpuidle: using governor menu powernow-k8: Found 1 AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50 (2 cpu cores) (version 2.20.00) I see something about governors and ladder there, does this mean the OS is able to scale my cpu's or not? If so is there a way I can determine it's working? I saw that for other users that the wrong module had been loaded and by disabling it they were able to get cpufreq loaded. How can I tell what scaling module is loaded? stats: Ubuntu Oneiric 32bit Dell Inspiron 1501

• Why would an IE8 in a desktop has a 'Tablet PC 2.0' in its user-agent string?

  I am just curious, why would a windows 7 desktop, installed with ie8, have Tablet PC 2.0 in its user agent string. Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; Tablet PC 2.0) Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; Tablet PC 2.0) Is this a feature in Windows 7, how can I turn this off in IE8? Other browsers on the same computer don't have such string in the user-agent string they send. As a result, one of our web application confuses this particular desktop client as a mobile (because of the tablet), hence returns the mobile version of our website to it. Thank you!

• How to control an Ubuntu PC from another Ubuntu PC over Internet?

  There are two Ubuntu PCs called A and B. A and B are connected to the Internet using two separated Internet connections. (In my case, two mobile broadband connections ppp0 x2 ) Each connection has a unique & static public IP address. What I need is to control A computer's cursor, using B computer's mouse, over the Internet. In both computers, I have allowed other users to control my computer in Desktop Sharing preferences, as below: When I try to connect to A from the B using Remmina Remote Desktop Client, it refuses to connect after trying for a while. These are my settings: I expect this to be done from an available open source software, not from TeamViewer. I found this guide harder to understand. Please provide me clear instructions... There are two main development practices going on here with regular combination, the back end people often needing to work with the mobile people to arrange web services. There are about twice as many back end people as mobile people. About half of the back end developers are working on-site at any time and while they are almost never all in the office at once at least 5-10 spaces need to be provided - so most of the time the two groups are about equal. We have the chance to arrange desks, partitions and possibly even walls to make the space good. There won't be cash for dot-com frills like catering or massages but now's the time to be planning to avoid ending up with a bunch of desks in a long line. Joel on Software's Bionic Office is an article I've remembered from way back and it has some good ideas but I* (and more importantly the company's owners) are not completely sold on the privacy idea in an environment where we are supposed to be collaborating. This is another great link - The Ultimate Software Development Office Layout - I hadn't even remembered enclosed meeting rooms until reading this. Does the private office stand in the way of agile development? Is the scrum enough forced contact and if you need to bug someone you should need to get up and knock on their door? What design layouts can you point to and why would you recommend them? *I'm not against closed offices at all but would be happy if some other solution can do just as well. If it can't... well, that's what this question is all about.

• Huwaei Modem working fine!

  yesterday I installed Ubuntu 12 in my sony vaio lappy. I have Huwaei E173 3G modem, simply inserted that modem into usb slot, after a few seconds modem started blinking finding as activated. I opened network profile and created a new network under 'Mobile broadband' tab everything was automated and I felt awesome, infact I used net for a while. Next morning, I placed modem into usb, nothing happened, no sign of modem presence even but modem is blinking, I tried creating a new connection once again but attained no luck. Kindly help me in resolving problem. regards sandy

• Can you point me to a nontrivial strategy pattern implementation?

  We are faced implementing a registration workflow with many branches. There are three main flows which in some conditions lead to one another. Each flow has at least four different steps; some steps interact with the server, and every step adds more information to the state. Also the requirement is to have it persistent between sessions, so if the user closes the app (this is a mobile app), it will restore the process from the last completed step with the state from the previous session. I think this could benefit from the use of the strategy pattern, but I've never had to implement it for such a complex case. Does anyone know of any examples in open source or articles from which I could find inspiration? Preferably the examples would be from a live/working/stable application. I'm interested in Java implementation mostly; we are developing for Java mobile phones: android, blackberry and J2ME. We have an SDK which is quite well separated from platform specific implementations, but examples in C++, C#, Objective-C or Python would be acceptable.

• Mts mblaze doesn't connect to internet

  I've sony vaio vpceb24en laptop, I'm using dual boot system with windows 7 and ubuntu. Firstly I installed ubuntu 10.04 LTS then upgraded to 12.04 & 12.04.1 afterwards. I have mts mblaze dongle. I have set up the mts connection profile under the mobile broadband. My problem is : Sometimes my connection is easily made & I use it, sometime it never connects. So I have to restart my system then it connects to internet sometimes. But now it's not connecting even I restarted my system many times, just it shows trying to connect icon once, then never tries to connect. while in windows it's working fine. Please someone help me out how to resolve this problem as I'm very new to linux. Thanks, Chetan
