  • Sharing class member data between sub components

    I have an aggregate 'main' class which contains some data which I wish to share. The main class also has other class members. I want to share the data with these other class members. What is the correct / neatest way to do this? The specific example I have is as follows. The main class is a .net Form. I have some controls (actually controls within controls) on the main form which need access to the shared data. Main Form - DataX - DataY - Control1 -- Subcontrol1 - Control2 -- SubControl2 SubControls 1 and 2 both wish to access DataX and DataY. The trouble is, I feel like better practice (to reduce coupling), would be that either subcontrols should not know about Main Form, or Main Form should not know about subcontrols - probably the former. For subcontrols not to know about Main Form, would probably mean Main Form passing references to both Controls 1 and 2, which in turn would pass the references on to SubControls 1 and 2. Lots of lines of code which just forward the references. If I later added DataZ and DataW, and Controls 3 and 4 and SubControls 3 and 4, I'd have to add lots more reference forwarding code. It seems simpler to me to give SubControls 1 and 2 member references to Main Form. That way, any sub control could just ask for MainForm.DataX or MainForm.DataY and if I ever added new data, I could just access it directly from the sub controls with no hassle. But it still involves setting the 'MainForm' member references every time I add a new Control or Subcontrol. And it gives me a gut feeling of 'wrong'. As you might be able to tell I'm not happy with either of my solutions. Is there a better way? Thanks

    I've got my main startup class loading main.xml but I'm trying to figure out how to access the TextView from another class which is loading information from a database. I would like to publish that information to the TextView. So far I've not found any helpful examples on Google. EDIT: This is my class that is doing the Database work: import android.widget.TextView;import android.view.View; public class DBWork{ private View view; ...   • nested list comprehension using intermediate result

    I am trying to grok the output of a function which doesn't have the courtesy of setting a result code. I can tell it failed by the "error:" string which is mixed into the stderr stream, often in the middle of a different conversion status message. I have the following list comprehension which works, but scans for the "error:" string twice. Since it is only rescanning the actual error lines, it works fine, but it annoys me I can't figure out how to use a single scan. Here's the working code: errors = [e[e.find('error:'):] for e in err.splitlines() if 'error:' in e] The obvious (and wrong) way to simplify is to save the "find" result errors = [e[i:] for i in e.find('error:') if i != -1 for e in err.splitlines()] However, I get "UnboundLocalError: local variable 'e' referenced before assignment". Blindly reversing the 'for's in the comprehension also fails. How is this done? THanks. Kent

    I have two files: filetest.txt ============ SSISPACKAGE1.dtsx SSISPACKAGE2.dtsx SSISPACKAGE3.dtsx SSISPACKAGE4.dtsx SSISPACKAGE5.dtsx SSISPACKAGE6.dtsx SSISPACKAGE7.dtsx SSISPACKAGE8.dtsx filetest2.txt ============= \\central_test_server\SSIS_Packages\Daily.bat \\central_test_server\SSIS_Packages\Weekly.bat \\central_test_server\SSIS_Packages\Monthly.bat \\central_test_server\SSIS_Packages\Quarterly.bat \\central_test_server\SSIS_Packages\SemiAnnually.bat \\central_test_server\SSIS_Packages\Annually.bat What I need is to cycle through filetest.txt, then search the files identified in filetest2.txt for the filename and output to a file the results. I am trying to identify in well over 100 bat files where each of about 100 SSIS Packages are running. I'm doing this in Windows batch, have tried about 20 various approaches without success - any help would be greatly appreciated.

This breaks at the Add-Type with this error message for each get/set in the file. 'MyApp.VM.MyClassVM.CtrId.get' must declare a body because it is not marked abstract or extern Any info on what I'm doing wrong will be greatly appreciated.

    I'm not able to figure out the difference between these queries. I'm pretty sure that the first one is an equi-join. I'm not sure how the second one ISN'T the same as the first. The sub query in #2 selects all Ids from S, and then it returns all R's that also have those ID's, no? I want to turn every single instance in the class interludeIntro invisible, but I want to turn specific instances visible later.     I'm trying to create an actionscript class to serve as a data model for my Flex app. I already have a formatted XML file to read from, and when I was simply declaring the data service in my MXML app I used this code inside the declarations: I'm now trying to create a model class and can't seem to get the same functionality. I've tried importing mx.rpc.http.HTTPService but i think this is different. And using the XML class doesn't seem to allow the ability to define a source url. I'm assuming that I am able to declare a public var inside my class that will read this XML source file as I had done in the main app. If this is possible, how do I do it?
