• Ruby (Shoes) List box crash when populating from excel

  I've got a problem when using Shoes. I'm basically trying to open an excel document and pass the names of the worksheets to a list_box. The following method is called on a button press after selecting a file. (This all works and the file opens) exc = WIN32OLE::new('excel.Application') excWB = exc.Workbooks.Open(xlsFile) @excWS = Array::new exc.visible = true excWB.Worksheets.each { |ws| @excWS.push(ws.name) } para @excWS list_box :items=> @excWS Not only do the names not show up in the list_box, the app crashes shortly after loading the box with no error. para @excWS shows the names of the worksheets with no problem. What am I doing wrong?

• Flex 4.5 - to long build process

  We are developing an app using flex 4.5. The app runs just fine (no performance issues at all) but it takes us forever to compile and build it. A minor change, like just add a comment or press enter in an mxml file and rebuild takes about 3 minutes. You just cant work that way. It is a large project with about 1300 files. We also use Parsley as IOC container and a beat of cairngorm navigation. We also use Maven (Flex mojos) but I am talking about a normal eclipse build (Ctrl + B). We separated some of the code to a different SWC and all of our graphics are stored in a different resource SWF. Please, Do you have any suggestions? Regards, Ido

• How to preload local javascript everytime a new tab or page is opened?

  I would like to autoload a local javascript file, everytime a new page/tab is opened in a browser. I tried the bookmarklet approach, but it gets tiresome as the button needs to be pressed everytime a new page/tab is opened. Chrome extensions also seem to work along the same lines (where you have to press an icon to run the js). Googling for javascript and preload seems to return everything except what I am looking for. Is there a browser indepent way of autoloading (no user action required) a local js file? If not, any browser specific info to do this would be appreciated (even if they mean reducing security by turning off required options). Thanks!

  I have a segmented control with 3 defined segments. i am looking to capture the segment index so I can use it in an if statement to update variables accordingly as such: -(IBAction)numPlayers:(id)sender; { numPlayersSegment = [(UISegmentedControl *)sender retain]; if (numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex == 0) { numOfPlayers = 2; } else if (numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex = 1) { numOfPlayers = 3; } else if (numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex = 2) { numOfPlayers = 4; } else if (numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex = -1) { numOfPlayers = 0; } NSLog(@"Players selected = %d", numPlayersSegment.selectedSegmentIndex); However whenever I press the third segment (index 2) it returns the value of the second segment (index 1) and also highlights the 2nd segment. • Can I find out which thread is running using Eclipse?

  I close my application by pressing a "Close" button. But in the Eclipse I see a red square indicating that something is still running. When I press this red square, I kill my application completely. Is it possible to find out what is still running (which method, which loop) using Eclipse? P.S. I am a newbie. So, it would be nice to have a simple solution. I also might not understand your answer if you use "technical" words which I do not know.

• Reading from the HTML DOM returns UTF-8 characters

  I have a contenteditable div where I'm reading individual characters and sending them off to a server (for more background this is similar to Google Wave where typing a character automatically sends it) I was using a plain old html textfield before and everything worked fine until I "upgraded" to a contenteditable div. My problem is that now the characters are in UTF-8 format, which is causing some weird problems on the server that I would rather not debug. It would be much easier to force everything to be ASCII on the client side. Is there any way to do this? I tried putting in a meta tag stating the html file is charset=ISO-8859-1, but it doesnt seem to work. Reading from the div tag still returns UTF-8 codes. (One example is when I press space I get the pair 0xC2 0xA0 which corresponds to a "non-breaking white space"

I was reading something about register globals that php5 has turned it off for security reason. Does anyone know what my options are ?

  I have a python script which makes a GUI. When a button 'Run' is pressed in this GUI it runs a function from an imported package (which I made) like this from predictmiP import predictor class MiPFrame(wx.Frame): [...] def runmiP(self, event): predictor.runPrediction(self.uploadProtInterestField.GetValue(), self.uploadAllProteinsField.GetValue(), self.uploadPfamTextField.GetValue(), \ self.edit_eval_all.Value, self.edit_eval_small.Value, self.saveOutputField) When I run the GUI directly from python it all works well and the program writes an output file. However, when I make it into an app, the GUI starts but when I press the button nothing happens. predictmiP does get included in build/bdist.macosx-10.3-fat/python2.7-standalone/app/collect/, like all the other imports I'm using (although it is empty, but that's the same as all the other imports I have). How can I get multiple python files, or an imported package to work with py2app?

• Jquery javascript - How can I let users 'undo' their modifications?

  Hi, i have a basic jquery app that allows a user to edit and manipulate some lists on a page. What I would like to do is have a button 'restore original list' that the user can press to undo his modifications. What is the best way to do this? I was thinking of just copying the DOM from the list down, and pasting it in a hidden element someplace else on the page. Is this the best way to do this? I also noticed that jquery has a .data() function which I could use if I converted the data to an array and stored it this way. What are the advantages and disadvantages? Also, I'm open to any suggestions people have if there is some method I haven't thought of. Thanks for your help!

If I make a copy of a file in the solution explorer, that file is not included in the project file (.CSPROJ) after Pre_Rake() runs. I would still have to press CTRL-SHIFT-S or File - Save All. So, how to Save All with a Visual Studio Macro?

• database change after pressing 'X' button

  What i know:- We can use Ajax to change database from javascript. So whenever we press the 'X' button on title bar it calls "onbeforeunload" event. And by this event we can change the database. But in my case, i want to change the status of user only when user click on 'X' button. Not in case of changing the page. As because changing the page is unloading the page. and closing the page is also unloading the page(As much i know). Is there any way to differentiate between closing the page and moving from one page to other page? I want to use it for changing the status of user(i.e. login/logout), whenever he presses cross button. I don't want to set status "logout" when user changes the page. I want to set status "logout" when user 'X' the button. Plese help me.

For testing pourposes I made additional method TextBox_TextChanged in page's code behing. Both command and TextBox_TextChanged print a message box with the textbox content. Initial value of textbox is ABC. Then I press D and: 1) TextBox_TextChanged prints ABCD. 2) Command prints ABC. D is missing. Why commands is so fast???

• Using javascript to call controller methond in mvc

  Im trying to make a table row work as a link to another view in my mvc website. Instead of using the standard "Details" link provided by the auto generated table list, I would like to use the table row as a link to the "Details" view instead. So somehow I need to make the row work as a link. Each rom has a unique id that I need to pass on to the controller method. I have tried different solutions but noting happens when I press on the table row... • iphone: repeating a transformation

  Hi I'm trying to represent a view that rotates on the iphone screen. I have a button and when you press it, the view rotates 180 degrees. My problem is that this only works the first time. Once I'm done adding statements inside the if-statement, how can I quickly move the cursor after the if-statement. For example: if [ $a = "b" ]; then bla; fi If my cursor is right on the semicolon and I'm in insert mode. What is the fewest number of actions I can take to move the cursor to the line after the 'fi'? If I press tab, supertab just open an autocomplete window. Thanks

• Expression Blend 3 (Silverlight) gives me nothing on project compile

  When I press F5 the project compiles, and the new web page launches. However, the silverlight control loads (the standard load counter counts to 100%) but then the whole control just disappear. Only the left default menu bar (feedback etc) is visible. It's a very small project, my first actually. This also happened earlier today, but then I removed each thing one at a time and found that it was some radio buttons that caused it. I deleted them and remade them and it ran fine again. Now the same thing happened again, but it is something else, not sure yet. The question is; is this a familiar bug or am I just doing something wrong? My code-behind consist mostly of visibility changes, around 20 lines of code.

On Windows though, users can press "*", triggering an "expand all descendants" action, and my application hangs. There are two acceptable behaviors for me when the user presses "*": Expand all children of the selected element, but only to the next level Do nothing In either case, I will still need to be able to expand items as deep as required (by clicking on the [+] icon, or by pressing "+"), so limiting the tree depth is not a solution. Is there another way that I can achieve either of the above without modifying SWT classes?

  I have a simple form showing products from my database. Each product has a foreign key to manufacturer_id . I would like to filter my form by manufacturer_id instead of default product_id. How I can do that ? I know I must create a macro. Also I've already created a query, that takes manufacturer's name as argument and returns manufacturer_id. So basically it should work in this way, that when I press 'Filter' button on my form, it runs macro that opens my query asking for manufacturer's name. And when the name is returned the whole form is filtered (so somewhere there should be comparison between manufacturer_id in product and that returned from query, but I can't manage to do that). • JTable - Getting a cell into Edit mode on pressing Tab

  This is possibly has a trivial solution, but I am at the end of my tether so I hope somebody can help out. I use a JTable which has a custom renderer and a custom editor for a set of columns. The renderer uses a JLabel component and the editor uses a JSpinner component. Our users want to be able to enter values in a column, and then press TAB or ENTER to move to the next editable cell in the table. If I understand correctly, this is the default behaviour for a JTable. However, this doesn't seem to work correctly for me. Until the user clicks on the cell, only the JLabel is displayed. The JSpinner (i.e. CellEditor) is only displayed when a user double clicks on the cell. So, it looks like the cell is going into "edit" mode only on MouseEvents, but not when it has focus. How do I get the cell to go into edit mode as soon as it has focus?

• Why won't the debugger update?

  Hello everyone, Ive had this problem multiple times and it ruins my projects, I make some changes, like say I have a button in the top left corner of the form and move it to the top right corner, then I press debug but nothing happens to the form, it doesn't change the button is still in the top left-hand corner instead of the top right, and it also doesn't except any new code, its like it saved the project right there and won't move on. Does any one know why or had this problem before? Please, Help!!!! Additional Details: Compiler: Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition I once fixed this problem by rebuilding the solution, but its never worked again.
