  • iPhone NSDate - get time in milliseconds and store in coredata

    - by satyam
I'm implementing iphone app with coredata functionality. I've an attribute in entity "NSDate" which stores the date and time when the record is added. I'm adding records at a faster rate. About 1 record per 25 milli seconds I want to store the date along with milli seconds so that I can retrieve the data in descending order. How can I do this?

  • Masked Time control in WPF

    - by Ashish Ashu
We are in need of a control in which we can show the elapsed time in "Hour:Min:Sec" format. This control should have a spin control attached with it. Whenever we spin the spin window, it should increment the selected option ( Either hour, or min , or sec). Also the Hour may have values between 0 to 99 , Min many have values between 0 to 59 and Sec may have values between 0 to 59. Is anybody know this type of control in WPF?

  • What is an Efficient algorithm to find Area of Overlapping Rectangles

    - by namenlos
My situation Input: a set of rectangles each rect is comprised of 4 doubles like this: (x0,y0,x1,y1) they are not "rotated" at any angle, all they are "normal" rectangles that go "up/down" and "left/right" with respect to the screen they are randomly placed - they may be touching at the edges, overlapping , or not have any contact I will have several hundred rectangles this is implemented in C# I need to find The area that is formed by their overlap - all the area in the canvas that more than one rectangle "covers" (for example with two rectangles, it would be the intersection) I don't need the geometry of the overlap - just the area (example: 4 sq inches) Overlaps shouldn't be counted multiple times - so for example imagine 3 rects that have the same size and position - they are right on top of each other - this area should be counted once (not three times) Example The image below contains thre rectangles: A,B,C A and B overlap (as indicated by dashes) B and C overlap (as indicated by dashes) What I am looking for is the area where the dashes are shown - AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--------------BBB AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--------------BBB AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--------------BBB AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--------------BBB BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB BBBBBB-----------CCCCCCCC BBBBBB-----------CCCCCCCC BBBBBB-----------CCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

  • use stream_socket_client to retrieve 2 remote files at the same time

    - by Hintswen
I have a script in PHP which retrieves two very similar files and performs some tasks on the data then outputs a result. I'm currently using curl and getting one, processing it, then getting the other and processing it. I want to switch to stream_socket_client as I've heard you can retrieve both files at the same time and do the processing once they have been retrieved but I am unsure how to do this.

  • How to Get Current Weather via Web Services

    - by Brandon
I am attempting to get the current weather given a zip code or a set of latitude/longitude coordinates. It appears that best practice to do this (and how NOAA does it) is to get the XML feed for a weather station. Example: http://www.weather.gov/xml/current_obs/KEDW.xml The only problem is that NOAA doesn't provide a good way to find the closest weather station given a zip code or coordinates and I did not see any hosted web services out there that will provide this mapping. Does anyone know of any web services to get the nearest weather station given a zip code or coordinate input? If not, does anyone have any great solutions to look into that provide similar information as NOAA does but takes in a zip code or coordinates?

  • Free CodeRush Express: worth the time?

    - by rp
DevExpress has announced a free express version of CodeRush (for C# and VB.Net). http://blogs.microsoft.co.il/blogs/kim/archive/2008/10/28/coderush-for-free-coderush-xpress-for-visual-studio-announced.aspx I've read about CodeRush Pro and suspect that it is probably worth the money--but I've always had other things I needed to spend the money on. Is CodeRush Express worth the time and effort to download and learn to use. It's help file didn't install and I'm a little frustrated as to how to use it. Thanks, rp

  • Parsing Twitter API Datestamp

    - by Chris Armstrong
I'm using the twitter API to return a list of status updates and the times they were created. It's returning the creation date in the following format: Fri Apr 09 12:53:54 +0000 2010 What's the simplest way (with PHP or Javascript) to format this like 09-04-2010?

  • Unity framework - creating & disposing Entity Framework datacontexts at the appropriate time

    - by TobyEvans
Hi there, With some kindly help from StackOverflow, I've got Unity Framework to create my chained dependencies, including an Entity Framework datacontext object: using (IUnityContainer container = new UnityContainer()) { container.RegisterType<IMeterView, Meter>(); container.RegisterType<IUnitOfWork, CommunergySQLiteEntities>(new ContainerControlledLifetimeManager()); container.RegisterType<IRepositoryFactory, SQLiteRepositoryFactory>(); container.RegisterType<IRepositoryFactory, WCFRepositoryFactory>("Uploader"); container.Configure<InjectedMembers>() .ConfigureInjectionFor<CommunergySQLiteEntities>( new InjectionConstructor(connectionString)); MeterPresenter meterPresenter = container.Resolve<MeterPresenter>(); this works really well in creating my Presenter object and displaying the related view, I'm really pleased. However, the problem I'm running into now is over the timing of the creation and disposal of the Entity Framework object (and I suspect this will go for any IDisposable object). Using Unity like this, the SQL EF object "CommunergySQLiteEntities" is created straight away, as I've added it to the constructor of the MeterPresenter public MeterPresenter(IMeterView view, IUnitOfWork unitOfWork, IRepositoryFactory cacheRepository) { this.mView = view; this.unitOfWork = unitOfWork; this.cacheRepository = cacheRepository; this.Initialize(); } I felt a bit uneasy about this at the time, as I don't want to be holding open a database connection, but I couldn't see any other way using the Unity dependency injection. Sure enough, when I actually try to use the datacontext, I get this error: ((System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext)(unitOfWork)).Connection '((System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext)(unitOfWork)).Connection' threw an exception of type 'System.ObjectDisposedException' System.Data.Common.DbConnection {System.ObjectDisposedException} My understanding of the principle of IoC is that you set up all your dependencies at the top, resolve your object and away you go. However, in this case, some of the child objects, eg the datacontext, don't need to be initialised at the time the parent Presenter object is created (as you would by passing them in the constructor), but the Presenter does need to know about what type to use for IUnitOfWork when it wants to talk to the database. Ideally, I want something like this inside my resolved Presenter: using(IUnitOfWork unitOfWork = new NewInstanceInjectedUnitOfWorkType()) { //do unitOfWork stuff } so the Presenter knows what IUnitOfWork implementation to use to create and dispose of straight away, preferably from the original RegisterType call. Do I have to put another Unity container inside my Presenter, at the risk of creating a new dependency? This is probably really obvious to a IoC guru, but I'd really appreciate a pointer in the right direction thanks Toby

  • What's your all-time creativity problem?

    - by furtelwart
Sometimes, you stumble with programming. Sometimes, it's a lack of creativity, sometimes, you need a new solution. But there are a lot of situations, you stick in, every time they occur. For myself, it's when I have to create the interface between model and viewer. I designed my data structure very well and drew a GUI prototype, but the missing link won't be written. What are your personal barricades in developing projects?

  • iPhone Javascript execution time

    - by Rudiger
Hi guys, In the Apple docs it says that JavaScript execution time is limited to 10 seconds for each top-level entry point. If your script executes for more than 10 seconds, Safari on iPhone OS stops executing the script at a random place I plan to have some Javascript run every 10 seconds or so that will do an AJAX query to the server and rewrite just the section of the page necessary. Will this be possible with these restrictions on the device?

  • I18N: Does Time always come after Date?

    - by Ian Boyd
Does the time always come after the date, with a space in between, in every culture on earth? i see that Microsoft FCL assumes that it does: public string get_FullDateTimePattern() { if (this.fullDateTimePattern == null) { this.fullDateTimePattern = this.LongDatePattern + " " + this.LongTimePattern; } return this.fullDateTimePattern; } Is this an assumption i can make in every development language for every culture?

  • Android VideoView - Detect point of time in video

    - by Chris
Hi all, I am using a VideoView to display a video. I am using setOnPreparedListener and setOnCompletionListener to do stuff before and after the video starts and ends. I was wondering how I could go about detecting some point of time in the video. For eg, say I want to write log to a file when the video has played for 10s. How can I detect the 10s mark? Thanks Chris

  • Complex.pm taking up a lot of time

    - by synapz
    While trying to profile my perl program, I find that Complex.pm is taking up a lot of time with what looks like some kind of warning. Also, my code shouldn't have any complex numbers being generated or used, so I am not sure what it is doing in Complex.pm, anyway. Here's the FastProf output for the most expensive lines: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:182 1.55480 276232: _cannot_make("real part", $re) unless $re =~ /^$gre$/; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:310 1.01132 453641: sub cartesian {$_[0]->{c_dirty} ? /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:315 0.97497 562188: sub set_cartesian { $_[0]->{p_dirty}++; $_[0]->{c_dirty} = 0; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:189 0.86302 276232: return $self; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:1332 0.85628 293660: $self->{display_format} = { %display_format }; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:185 0.81529 276232: _cannot_make("imaginary part", $im) unless $im =~ /^$gre$/; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:1316 0.78749 293660: my %display_format = %DISPLAY_FORMAT; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:1335 0.69534 293660: %{$self->{display_format}} : /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:186 0.66697 276232: $self->set_cartesian([$re, $im ]); /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:170 0.62790 276232: my $self = bless {}, shift; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:172 0.56733 276232: if (@_ == 0) { /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:316 0.53179 281094: $_[0]->{'cartesian'} = $_[1] } /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:1324 0.48768 293660: if (@_ == 1) { /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:1319 0.44835 293660: if (exists $self->{display_format}) { /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:1318 0.40355 293660: if (ref $self) { # Called as an object method /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:187 0.39950 276232: $self->display_format('cartesian'); /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:1315 0.39312 293660: my $self = shift; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:1331 0.38087 293660: if (ref $self) { # Called as an object method /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:184 0.35171 276232: $im ||= 0; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:181 0.34145 276232: if (defined $re) { /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:171 0.33492 276232: my ($re, $im); /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:390 0.20658 128280: my ($z1, $z2, $regular) = @_; /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/Math/Complex.pm:391 0.20631 128280: if ($z1->{p_dirty} == 0 and ref $z2 and $z2->{p_dirty} == 0) { Thanks for any help!

  • Converting Milliseconds to Timecode

    - by Jeff
I have an audio project I'm working on using BASS from Un4seen. This library uses BYTES mainly but I have a conversion in place that let's me show the current position of the song in Milliseconds. Knowing that MS = Samples * 1000 / SampleRate and that Samples = Bytes * 8 / Bits / Channels So here's my main issue and it's fairly simple... I have a function in my project that converts the Milliseconds to TimeCode in Mins:Secs:Milliseconds. Public Function ConvertMStoTimeCode(ByVal lngCurrentMSTimeValue As Long) ConvertMStoTimeCode = CheckForLeadingZero(Fix(lngCurrentMSTimeValue / 1000 / 60)) & ":" & _ CheckForLeadingZero(Int((lngCurrentMSTimeValue / 1000) Mod 60)) & ":" & _ CheckForLeadingZero(Int((lngCurrentMSTimeValue / 10) Mod 100)) End Function Now the issue comes within the Seconds calculation. Anytime the MS calculation is over .5 the seconds place rounds up to the next second. So 1.5 seconds actually prints as 2.5 seconds. I know for sure that using the Int conversion causes a round down and I know my math is correct as I've checked in a calculator 100 times. I can't figure out why the number is rounding up. Any suggestions?

  • Check whether the string is a unix timestamp

    - by RHPT
I have a string and I need to find out whether it is a unix timestamp or not, how can I do that effectively? I found this thread via Google, but it doesn't come up with a very solid answer, I'm afraid. (And yes, I cribbed the question from the original poster on the aforementioned thread). http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=585963

  • Timing the Linux Kernel boot-time optimisation

    - by CVS-2600Hertz-wordpress-com
I am trying to optimise the boot-up time of linux on an embedded device (not PC) Currently to profile the boot-up sequence, I have enabled the timing info on printk logs. Is this the most optimum way? If not, how do i profile the boot-up sequence (with timing) with minimum overhead? PS: I have a terminal (of the device) over a serial-connection & I use TeraTerm over windows-XP to access it.
