  I have MP3 file and the contents are continuous and slow. Is there any tool, which converts them to fast speed. I am aware of the fact that with VLC, i can play fast. But, the problem is every time i have to fix the speed of the player. The Question is, i dont want to manipulate/tweak every time i play the file. I wish to have permanent solution to play the slow playing MP3 files to play fast (some thing like saving the file with fast speed etc).

This is a specific question for OSX. Chrome has a built in task manager under "Tools" to look at the process within Chrome, extremely beneficial in locating a stuck page. What is the similar feature in firefox? • How to accept email *only* from white-listed addresses in Gmail? [migrated]

  I only want to accpet email from two addresses, the rest I want to delete immediately, unseen. I know how to make fileers and I can whitelist those two addresses. If I make 3 filter, in this order; 1) from [email protected] move to inbox, never mark as spam 2) from [email protected] move to inbox, never mark as spam 3) from *@*.* delete immediately, never move to trash can I be guaranteed that that will do what I want? For instance, can I be sure that the filters are executed in that order? I dont want to lose amy mail from those two adresses.

  I'm trying to do another SEO system with PHP/.htaccess... I need the following rules to apply: Must catch all URLs that do not end with an extension (www.foo.com -- catch | www.foo.com/catch-me -- catch | www.foo.com/dont-catch.me -- don't catch). Must catch all URLs that end with .php* (.php, .php4...) (thwaw are the exceptions to rule #1). All rules must only apply in some directories and not in their subdirectories (/ and /framework so far). The htaccess must send the typed URL in a GET value so I can work with it in PHP. Any mod-rewrite wizard can help me?

• I setup vsftpd on ubuntu server on my ec2 instance, how to connect using SSH?

  I connect to my ec2 instance using ssh so I don't have to login each time. I just installed vsftpd on the ubuntu server, but when I connect it obviously asks for my username and password. Since I connect using the ubuntu user that my AMI comes with, I don't even know the root password. Is there a way I can login via ftp using SSH? Or do I just create a user on the system for ftp purposes? I've locked ftp to my IP address, and I will shutdown the ftp service once I'm done as I dont need it running 99.99999% of the time.

• Dropbox style folder for network drives

  Does anyone know of a third party (or even windows native) solution to this simple problem. I want to map an internal network share on our windows server to a folder on each of the client machines in the network. I dont want to have to use Drive Letters I would just like to set up a Folder on my C drive that is actually a windows share eg C:\DATA\Network Docs is actuallyp pointing to \\Server\SharedData\ Is this possible? Is there a third party solution that does it? All clients are Windows XP and Windows 7.

  I am using picasa to edit my images. after I fixed a bunch of images I looked at them by browsing my file system and find they are all in their original state. I wanted to find them in their altered state with the edits I made in picasa. I want to back them up as well as send them for printing. but I dont want to do this with the originals, only the edited up versions. how do I access the edited versions of the images?

• Download videos from youtube as I see it

  This may seem a somewhat strange requirement : I want to download youtube videos as I see it. I know that I would have to capture the packets using a program like wireshark , and I do know that this is possible. So lets say I have 3 computers on my network and 1 smartphone. Lets say I view a youtube video on my phone. I now want this video to be recorded on any one of the computers so that I can see it later(record in the sense capture the packets so that I dont have to download it again and waste my bandwidth). Are there any programs which will do this for me? The reason I want this is I use IMediaShare to view youtube videos on my Tv. Now once I see a video if I want to see it at a later point of time I have to download the entire video again.

  So I was asked to set up an Exchange Activesync mobile gateway. That's done. It's a separat eExchange 2003 front-end server configured for SSL, and I've put an off-domain ISA server in front of it. Now I'm being asked to limit which users can connect to it. By default an Exchange front-end server allows any user who has a mail account to connect to the front -end server. So I'm looking at the permissions on the various IIS sites/apps on the server, but I know that it's easy to break Exchange Front-end server perms. So I've got the following in IIS: Exadmin Exchange EchWeb Microsoft-SErver-ActiveSync MobileAdmin OMA And a couple of others that I dont think are relevant. Can I change the permissions on one of these to restrict who can connect to Activesync? As a bonus: Can I do it in a way that does not affect ordinary browser based Exchange Access? They clearly favour M4A (AAC). When to choose, right now, the 'best' audio codec to encode music to, which would you choose to achieve maximal independence of portable device vendors: MP3 or M4A? (I am well aware of Ogg (vorbis): no market (maybe this changes with HTML5 and more WebKit on portable devices), I am also aware of FLAC: I dont want to discuss long term storage.)

  I am looking for library to support server / switch monitoring, to actually be able to check with the device if it's working OK. However this requires some sort of auto-detection and device support. Basically I need to automatically detect a new device, start monitoring it like CPU and PING. So how do I auto-detect the machine remotely, this is something I need library for. Rackspace has something like this - "Cloud Monitoring API". But is there anything opensource which can be used same way? The Nagios and others doesnt have such API, and the big and expensive systems are too big to handle in public cloud, so there must be some other network monitoring engine with API, which can add a new servers automatically and support user isolation for example so I dont see other servers except mine.

• Configure akamai to ignore favicon errors [on hold]

  We have hosted our services through akamai and have configured and alert in akamai to notify us of 404 errors. We dont want to serve favicon from our services (as they are rest webservices which are not consumed by humans, hence no point in serving favicons). But whenever thesewebservices are accessed from a browser the browser would send a request for the favicon, which ends up being logged as a 404 and akamai sends us an alert for this. Is there a way to configure akamai in a way that it understands that favicon 404s should not contribute to the alert?

Ive had this computer since 2001, never formatet it, until now =) Anyway the problem is that i cant find any drivers for the motherboard (integrated audio, video and ethernet). as i said its an old ass Dell. Cant remember if I got any cds along with it. Even if i did theyre gone a long time ago. So, I ran CPUZ and got this: --Motherboard-- Dell Computer Corp. Model 0K8980 And started googling. But didnt find any drivers. Still cant So im asking for a little help here. I really need to get the computer going before she wants a new one :D And yes i have looked on dells homesite, but they dont seem to wanna host drivers for their old stuff

• Brightness Controls not working on HP Dm3t

  i have an HP dm3t notebook which normally comes with windows 7. after some time i figured out how to install Windows XP on it. but now i am facing a problem that the brightess controls dont work so i am unable to change the brightess. the strange thing is that all the other buttons (sound volume, mute, sleep , etc... ) works but not the 2 brightess controls. i already downloaded the "HP Quick Launch Buttons" so i am asking about suggesitions how can i enable these two buttons in windows XP or even if i can change the brightess using some kind of software. thanks

  Hi everyone. Currently we are using the Enterprise AV Solution eTrust ITM 8.1. The licenses are running out in october and we are going to replace eTrust with another AV solution. The eTrust Server is running on Windows Server 2003 SP2 with an MS SQL 2000 Standard Edition. The problem is that we've got many different policy - sets which we have to redefine in the new AV solution. Is there any way with eTrust ITM 8.1 to export the different policies as csv, pdf ... whatever?   I have a server with mirrored boot volume. It is software raid 1 in Windows Server 2008 R2. I do not have physical access to the server. I am looking for a way to check which disk is a boot drive. I need a way to check it from os. How can I do that ? EDIT: I know how to do that, but I dont think its proper way. From diskpart I can break mirror: select volume 0 break disk=0 And Windows will only allow me to do that on not current boot disk. I want to check which one is boot without breaking mirroring.

• nginx: Disallow Acces to a Folder, except some subfolders

  how it is possible to deny access to a folder, but execept some subfolders in it from "deny"? I tried something like this (in this order): #this subfolder shouldnt be denied and php scripts inside should be executable location ~ /data/public { allow all; } #this folder contains many subfolders that should be denied from public access location ~ /data { deny all; return 404; } ... which doesnt work correctly. Files inside the /data/public folder are accessible (all other in /data are denied as it should be), but PHP files are not executed anymore in the /data/public folder (if i dont add these restrictions, the php files are executable). What is wrong? How can it be correct? I think theres a better way to do it. It would be very nice if anyone can help me with this :).

  I have two Varnish servers and I plan to add more varnish servers. I am using a nginx load balancer to divide traffic to these varnish servers. To utilize maximum RAM of each varnish server, I need that same request reaches same varnish server. Same request can be identified by one GET parameter in the request URL say 'a' In a normal code, I would do something like- (if I need to divide all traffic between 2 Varnish servers) if($arg_a % 2 == 0) { proxy_pass varnish1; } if($arg_a % 2 == 1) { proxy_pass varnish2; } This is basically doing a even / odd check on GET parameter a and then deciding which upstream pool to send the request. My question are- What is the nginx equivalent of such a code. I dont know if nginx accepts modulas Is there a better/ efficient hashing function built in with nginx (0.8.54) which I can possibly use. In future I want to add more upstream pools so I need not to change %2 to %3 %4 and so on Any other alternate way to solve this problem

• Why is the pavucontrol level indicator jumping while nothing plays?

  The level indicator in the screenshot does jump around even if nothing is playing. The indicator also reasonably represents sound levels when music is playing. I dont have any mediaservers running or noisy browsertabs open. Also no mic connected. When I turn the volume to max in software and on the amp, there is no noise from the speakers at all. Played music is loud and not distorted. Hardware: Realtek ALC889 over optical audio connector to a generic amp. Software: Debian Wheezy with latest backport kernel 3.14 (same thing on wheezy 3.2 stock), wheezy pulseaudio, xfce session, a custom asound.conf that enables pulseaudio to push sound over optical port. /etc/asound.conf pcm.a52 { @args [CARD] @args.CARD { type string } type rate slave { pcm { type a52 bitrate 448 channels 6 card $CARD } rate 48000 #required somehow, otherwise nothing happens in PulseAudio } }

• System Lags/Freezes when under high usgage

  I am not sure if its my GPU / Memory or Hard drive thats failing. For example if I'm runnning more than one instance of chrome and running an application that takes up a lot of resources, my system will start to lag and freeze. When I launch Photoshop the GPU feature disables automatically, this also lags when I click on menus and when working on documents in Photoshop. I really dont know where to start, if i should buy a new graphics card or test the memory or could it be my OS drive? • Proccess of carrying out a BER Test

  I am subscribed to an ISP supplying a 3meg ADSL line. Lately (for the last 4 weeks) speeds have dropped from the usual average downstream speed of ~250kbps to just 0.14Mbps (according to speedtest.net) and employees are complaining about lack of access to the server. I have been calling customer support and logging calls for the last 3 weeks, but they have been unable to determine the source of the problem other carrying out a few bitstream tests and checking the DHCP renewal times. I am going to call back and suggest carrying out a BER test. What type of equipment is needed to carry out this test? I have access to a wide range of Cisco networking equipment. Other: We dont need a leased line as there are less than ten employees.

• windows printer spool gets stuck with file at 64kb from linux and mac

  Hi I have two printers one on a file server with windows 2003, and other with windows XP. The thing is that when i try to print from my machine, my file stays in queue for ever, it says 64kb out of whatever the file i send. I have seen similar problems with some machines that run on Mac OS X. The windows machines apparently have no problems printing. They are not connect through active directory, just the network. In the past I have seen people install non microsoft windows Printer server on windows, i dont remember the name of any of the programs. I have being googling a lot and have not found anything to replace the microsoft print spooler service, maybe i am mistaken. Everyday I have to restart the print spooler service i even created a bat file for it. I am out of ideas here.
