• Wifi and 3G same time

  For my App I need Data from both, a local Network and the Internet. The local Network (Wifi) has no connection to the internet so I have to use the mobile connection (3G for Example). But whenever I connect to the local Network, 3G stopps. After asking the Samsung Service, there is no way to change that in the UI. But they couldn't tell me, if there is a programmable Interface for that. There is a mobile access point inside, so there is a way to connect a Wifi device to the Internet (which means that both, a wifi and a 3G connection is possible the same time in that way). But for my App the phone/tab has to connect to the existing Network and use the 3G for Internet. So this is my question here. Is there a way to connect to an existing Network and using 3G for Internet the same time?

• Replacing IFrame with div

  I have a IFrame where I load in a custom search, and display the results within the iframe. The search results I obtain by calling an external url, that returns a value. I need to implement the same thing for a mobi site that works on mobile devices, and thus I need to replace the IFrame with something else. Will this be possible using a div tag, since most mobile devices do not support frames. And no javascript may be used. Any advice will be appreciated.

• Django Multi-Table Inheritance VS Specifying Explicit OneToOne Relationship in Models

  Hope all this makes sense :) I'll clarify via comments if necessary. Also, I am experimenting using bold text in this question, and will edit it out if I (or you) find it distracting. With that out of the way... Using django.contrib.auth gives us User and Group, among other useful things that I can't do without (like basic messaging). In my app I have several different types of users. A user can be of only one type. That would easily be handled by groups, with a little extra care. However, these different users are related to each other in hierarchies / relationships. Let's take a look at these users: - Principals - "top level" users Administrators - each administrator reports to a Principal Coordinators - each coordinator reports to an Administrator Apart from these there are other user types that are not directly related, but may get related later on. For example, "Company" is another type of user, and can have various "Products", and products may be supervised by a "Coordinator". "Buyer" is another kind of user that may buy products. Now all these users have various other attributes, some of which are common to all types of users and some of which are distinct only to one user type. For example, all types of users have to have an address. On the other hand, only the Principal user belongs to a "BranchOffice". Another point, which was stated above, is that a User can only ever be of one type. The app also needs to keep track of who created and/or modified Principals, Administrators, Coordinators, Companies, Products etc. (So that's two more links to the User model.) • Facebook Open Graph Not Showing Object Title

  I'm having conflicting reports for our users that people that share Object Graph objects to their wall, are sometimes showing the Object title and other times not. Specifically, every test I do on my own account shows the Object Title, but on their Mobile apps - it doesn't appear. I've tested the Open Graph debugger.So I have a couple of questions: Is there a length limit on the number of characters? Does Facebook not show the whole Object.title on Mobile? Does Facebook scrap the OG tags and if it can't find them or if it timeout do they not receive them? • Limit the model data fields serialized by Web API based on the return type Interface

  We're updating our architecture to use a single object model for desktop, web and mobile that can be used in the MVVM pattern. I would like to be able to limit the data fields that are serialized through Web API by using interfaces on the controllers. This is required because the model objects for mobile are stored in HTML5 local storage so don't carry optional data while a thin desktop client would be able to store (and work with) more data. To achieve this a model will implement the different interfaces that define which data fields should be serialized and there will be a controller specific to the interface. The problem is that the Web API always serializes every field in the model even if it is not part of the interface being returned. How can we only serialize fields in the returned interface?

• Stream post URL security and wall post links

  Our app's mobile client can create wall post links to our app's web-facing pages. Since this happens in the context of a mobile app, we do this on behalf of our user using the Graph API's feed/message endpoint. I noticed that the links showing up in the wall posts are being routed through our app's auth dialog, which is NOT what we want. We just want transparent links, without forcing the client to auth our app, similar to what happens when you share to FB in Path. I went ahead and disabled the "Stream post URL option" several hours ago, but we still seem to be getting the re-routed links for wall posts. The target URLs for these links are within the domain we've registered for our Facebook app. Is there anything else I need to do fix this?

I don't want to use oAuth, becouse the mobile and embedded applications that are facing the biggest hurdle, as they may not be able to bring up and/or control the web browser. Also its a little complicate. I know, that HTTP basic authorisation is not safe, but it's so simple... I want to use it in my api. • In Sinatra, best way to serve iPhone layout vs. normal layout?

  I'm writing a Sinatra app which needs to render different layouts based on whether the user is using an iPhone or a regular browser. I can detect the browser type using Rack-Mobile-Detect but I'm not sure of the best way to tell Sinatra which layout to use. Also, I have a feeling that how I choose to do this may also break page caching. Is that true? • How could I stop PHP from returning headers when executed from commandline?

  This may be a ridiculous question, but it's been bothering me for a while. I have a mail forwarder piped to a PHP script, it receives perfectly, however I have the following error mailed back to me instantly: A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: pipe to |/home/[webroot]/public_html/external/mobile/email.php generated by mobile@[mydomain] The following text was generated during the delivery attempt: X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.13 Content-type: text/html As you can see, Exim thinks the header response an error from the script I have. The script can receive the Email perfectly from php://stdin but Exim is quick-replying with the error. Plus, It's running from console, not Apache so HTAccess or configuring Apache most likely would do nothing. I can not find any solution, or anyone with the same problem. So my question is: How to I get rid of those two headers? Thanks, ~Jonny

  Hi, I have a 3G modem, and the accompanied "Mobile Partner" software really s*cks, and I want to make my own. Currently, I've found out the following: Sending/Interpreting AT commands Setting the APN/PIN/Network Registration/... These things were well-documented on many sites. But now I want to connect, and here the problems start: If I try to do a ATDT *99#, which should dial the *99# number, I get the message CONNECT. But what do I need to do now? How do I tell windows to use the dial in network? Is the '*99#' even the number I should dial? (I think so, because it's the default dialing number in the Mobile Partner application, and on OS X on my 3G modem) I'm writing this program in C#. Thank you! Yvan

• Apache rewrite_mod: RewriteRule path and query string

  I currently have a website with a standard web interface on index.php, and I made an iPhone-friendly version in iphone.php. Both pages handle the same arguments. It works fine when I manually go to .../iphone.php, but I'd like to rewrite anything on .../path/ and .../path/index.php to iphone.php if %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} contains mobile, and optionally add the query string (not sure if/when I'd need to add it). So far, this is what I have in my .../path/.htaccess: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.+mobile.+$ [NC] RewriteRule index.php?(.*) iphone.php?$1 [L] RewriteRule index.php iphone.php [L] The problems are, it matches index.php in any subfolder, and it won't match .../path/?args… Special thanks to anyone who can correct/simplify/optimize anything =)

• Sharing code between sqlite-net and servicestack ormlite?

  I am using sqlite-net to store data on my MonoDroid mobile application. I am wanting to sync this data with a server side service as well. Would it be possible to share the code for my Entity objects between sqlite-net and Servicestacks ormlite? The main difference between the two that I can see is declaring the "using namespace" statements at the top of the class for the object. Is it possible to detect the platform and set the using statements based on the platform? The other difference would be referencing the different dlls for servicestack so I suppose on the mobile app it would not compile if there are references to the servicestack namespaces... What would a good approach be to achieve sharing of this code?

• Date Input in safari

  So I am using the HTML5 date input type, primary to trigger the 'wheels' in iOS. Everything is working fine in ie7-9 Chrome and FF. But Safari for OSX is very upset. It sees the need to add little 'up and down' buttons to the right hand side and generally mess up my visual stylings. My attempt to fix this, is to change the date inputs back to text inputs for desktop browsers, and leave it as date inputs for mobile: unless device.is # 'device' is a lib I use to detect mobile browsers dateFields = $ 'input[type="date"]' dateFields.attr 'type', 'text' #this fails dateFields.datepicker() dateFields.on 'keyup', (e) -> e.preventDefault() $(@).val '' Beyond altering the input type with js, I am at a loss for how to fix this little bugger.   we have a project in which we have to pick randomly generated numbers from a remote device, say mobile. there is a simple java application to generate numbers. next, we have to recieve those numbers in our matlab program via bluetooth connection with the device. assuming those numbers are temperature readings, we want to recieve a new number after every 10 sec and display the number on our matlab GUI program. the problem is do we implement bluetooth protocol through our programming? or use the matlab templates? because otherwise whenever we want to transfer file from a mobile to computer, we have to manually click "recieve a file" in blutooth wizard , just like we normally do to transfer a file. we want to enable the connection once, and then recieve text files after every 10 seconds to be read in our matlab program. can anyone please tell is it even possible in matlab? if yes, how do we establish such an automatic real time connection?
