• Will Google penalize my website if I hide the H1 tag?

  I've read an article today where the author stated that if you put keywords on to your page but then hide them with CSS, Google will penalize your site. This make sense. This got me thinking though about my own technique when I build a website. If for example when I build a website and the logo contains the name of the website, I tend to put the name of the website in a H1 tag and then hide this tag. I don't know why I do it, I've always done it. I also include any text held in an image in the alt attribute of the img tag. But because I am hiding the H1 tag, does this leave me open to Google penalizing the website because I've hidden this one tag?

My initial response was to assail the assumptions underlying the problem. Language is a fluid thing, I argued. It changes in real time. Vocabulary and usage patterns shift day-to-day. To develop a list of words and their frequencies means taking a snapshot of a moving target. • Blank desktop after login

  Today my 14.04 updated itself not requiring a reboot. After a while I rebooted because of other reasons and then I was pleasantly surprised by a blank screen. I have tried everything I could think about including Reinstalled compiz, unity, ubuntu-desktop, xorg Reinstalled and then removed the nvidia driver So far nothing has worked. Except for one little thing: my cairo-dock is showing. And that's all. I tried with Unity doesn't load, no Launcher, no Dash appears, but none of the answers there helped me. I also tried removing my ~/.Xauthority file and it still doesn't work. Does anybody know what else I could try? UPDATE: sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg sudo service lightdm stop sudo service lightdm start When I run that code and then login again the icons on the desktop are displayed but the menu and the launcher are still not there. Also, when I try to run an application from CTRL + ALT + F1 such as dconf reset -f /org/compiz/ it says Cannot autolaunch D-Bus without X11 $DISPLAY I can only run applications with export DISPLAY=:0

• Work with 64-bit VM in Windows 7

  I attended a Microsoft Office and SharePoint 2010 HOL 1 day workshop last week and wanted to setup a VM to try the new features in my own laptop. The presenter in the workshop implicitly mentioned a tool called VirtualBox (because it's not a MS product?) but I have no clue what it is at that moment. • Where can I get fresh new Wine DLLs?

  I was acting careless today and I accidentally deleted one of the .dlls in my Ubuntu Wine installation, ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ole32.dll to be exact, and need a new fresh copy of only this one .dll. I know that reinstalling will fix it, but I have installed quite a few programs and do not want to have to do such a drastic thing just to fix this one problem. So, I'm wondering if there is somewhere that I can download this original .dll as it came with my original Wine installation. I have found the SourceForge repository, but it only has .h and .c files and I do not know how to build them into a .dll. Can anyone give me a link to download, or instructions to build my missing .dlls?

• Choppy, stuttery & sped-up sound after update

  My audio has always worked perfectly on this hardware and 12.04. Yesterday I received an update, including a kernel update. Today the sound is periodically stuffed. In youtube, mkv files via VLC and embedded audio in web pages (memrise.com) the sound can become stuttery, sped up or stopped mid play-back. Where can I go to find if this is a known problem, or report it if it is not? Also, can I find a log that will tell me what packages were updated on my machine yesterday?

• What is the difference between _Procedural Generation_ and _Random Generation_?

  Today, I got into an argument about the term "procedural generation". My point was that its different from "classic" random generation in that procedural generation is based on a more mathematical, fractal-based, algorithm leading to a more "realistic" distribution and the usual randomness of most languages are based on a pseudo-random-number generator, leading to an "unrealistic", in a way, ugly, distribution. This discussion was made with a heightmap in mind. The discussion left me somehow unconvinced about my own arguments though, so, is there more to it? Or am I the one who is, in fact, simply wrong?

• Is there any way to downgrade or revert an update to the kernel?

  Today I installed the linux 3.9 Kernel update (because I heard it would fix sound through HDMI which I no longer have since installing 13.04). After restarted my computer and logging in my screen has only a desktop, and no dock or tool bar. I tried to reset unity and compiz using guides like this one but nothing happens, even after reboot. Is there any way to downgrade or reset the update? EDIT: Running uname -a in terminal brings up 3.8.0 as my current kernel for some reason.

  Today Oracle announced the Oracle Java Embedded Suite 7.0. What is the Java Embedded Suite (JES)? It's a middleware stack designed to be run on embedded devices. It's a suite which includes an application server (Glassfish for Embedded Suite), database (Java DB), and web services (Jersey Web Services Framework).   When your SharePoint Solution package include third party or external dlls , you will often see your solution fail to deploy due to the locking of the dlls. Today I will show you how to find which process locks your dlls using Process Explorer. 1. Here is an example that your solution fails to deploy due to dll being locked. 2. Start the explorer by double click the procexp.exe 3. From the find tab click Find Handle or DLL 4.Type the your dll name and click Search 5. I can see all the processes that use my dlls at the moment, it looks like the iis , visual studio and SharePoint timer services might be the trouble. From my experience , it could be Visual studio. 6. Close visual studio and redeploy my solution, it works like charm. Re-search the dll, you can see Visual studio is not in the results.
