  • jQuery: Circulate plugin: stopping midway in animation

    - by kelly
    Has anyone had any luck in altering the plug-in code so that one might animate an object in "3d" space for only a 1/4 or 1/2 turn? As it stands, an object must complete a full circle before stopping or looping. And for those who haven't seen it yet: http://css-tricks.com/examples/Circulate/

  • problem on strings, tuple strings

    - by suresh
    Write a function, called constrainedMatchPair which takes three arguments: a tuple representing starting points for the first substring, a tuple representing starting points for the second substring, and the length of the first substring. The function should return a tuple of all members (call it n) of the first tuple for which there is an element in the second tuple (call it k) such that n+m+1 = k, where m is the length of the first substring. Complete the definition def constrainedMatchPair(firstMatch,secondMatch,length):

  • can this simple SQL query be optimized?

    - by ibiza
    Hi, I have the following query : SELECT COUNT(*) FROM Address adr INNER JOIN Auditable a on adr.UniqueId = a.UniqueId on a big DB (1.3M adresses, 4M+ auditables) both UniqueId columns are clustered primary keys the query is taking quite long to complete...I feel dumb, but is there any way to optimize it? I want to count all the address entries that have an underlying auditable... thanks!

  • Exhaustive (or even just large) list of languages/stacks used for popular sites?

    - by jacko
    As a result of a conversation with a colleague today, I've been searching (unsuccessfully) for a large'ish list of what technology stacks are being used popular websites and standalone applications today. We're aware of the big ones like Facebook (php/ ), Twitter (scala/cassandra), Youtube (python/?), Digg (php/cassandra), stackoverflow (.net mvc/sqlserver), but we're looking for a more complete list. It would also be interesting to hear about any stats for desktop apps also? Can anyone help?

  • Perl, convert hash to array

    - by Mike
    If I have a hash in Perl that contains complete and sequential integer mappings (ie, all keys from from 0 to n are mapped to something), is there a means of converting this to an Array? I know I could iterate over the key/value pairs and place them into a new array, but something tells me there should be a built-in means of doing this.

  • SQL Server 2008 - Query takes forever to finish even though work is actually done

    - by Brian
    Running the following simple query in SSMS: UPDATE tblEntityAddress SET strPostCode= REPLACE(strPostCode,' ','') The update to the data (at least in memory) is complete in under a minute. I verified this by performing another query with transaction isolation level read uncommitted. The update query, however, continues to run for another 30 minutes. What is the issue here? Is this caused by a delay to write to disk? TIA

  • COM(C++) Programming Tutorials

    - by Deep-B
    Hey guys, I was wondering if there're any good sites that deal with learning C++/COM from the ground up? Looking for something like a crash course (two weeks, and not being hypothetical here). Assume knowledge in standard C/C++, or at least not a complete dummy.

  • How does a parser LL(*) works?

    - by freezer878
    Hi, I cannot find any complete description about LL() parser, such as ANTLR, on Internet. I'm wondering what is the difference between an LL(k) parser and an LL() one and why they can't support left-recusrive grammars despite their flexibility. Thanks in advance. Fabio.

  • How to parse HTML from JavaScript in Firefox?

    - by hmp
    What is the best way to parse (get a DOM tree of) a HTML result of XmlHttpRequest in Firefox? EDIT: I do not have the DOM tree, I want to acquire it. XmlHttpRequest's "responseXML" works only when the result is actual XML, so I have only responseText to work with. The innerHTML hack doesn't seem to work with a complete HTML document (in <html</html). - turns out it works fine.

  • Simple Form validation failing Backbone

    - by Corey Buchillon
    Im not exactly adept at coding so Im probably missing something, but my view here is failing to refuse submission when one or both of the fields are empty. I have a feeling something isnt connected right to my template for the row and the view of the form Form = Backbone.View.extend({ //form vie el: '.item-form', initialize: function(){ }, events: { 'click #additem': 'addModel' }, addModel: function(itemName, price){ // simple validation before adding to collection if (itemName !="" && price !="" ){ var item = new Item({ itemName: this.$("#item").val(), price: this.$("#price").val()}); items.add(item); $("#message").html("Please wait; the task is being added."); item.save(null, {success: function (item, response,options) { item.id= item.attributes._id.$id; item.attributes.id = item.attributes._id.$id; new ItemsView({collection: items}); $("#message").html(""); } }); this.$("#item").val(''); this.$("#price").val(''); } else { alert('Please fill in both fields'); } } }); and HTML <table class="itemTable"> <thead> <tr> <th>Item</th> <th>Price</th> <th></th> </tr> </thead> <tbody class="tableBody"> <script type="text/template" id="table-row"> <td><%= itemName %></td> <td><%= price %></td> <td><button class="complete">Complete</button> <button class="remove">Remove</button></td> </script> </tbody> </table> <form class="item-form"> <input type="text" name="item" id="item" placeholder="Item"/> <!-- goes to itemName in the template for the body --> <input type="text" name="price" id="price" placeholder="Price" /><!--goes to price in the template for the body --> <button type="button" id="additem">Add</button> </form> <div id="message"></div>
