  • Swig typecast to derived class?

    I notice that Swig provides a whole host of functions to allow for typecasting objects to their parent classes. However, in C++ one can produce a function like the following: A * getAnObject() { if(someBoolean) return (A *) new B; else return (A *) new C; } Where "A" is the parent of classes "B" and "C". One can then typecast the pointer returned into being a "B" type or "C" type at one's convenience like: B * some_var = (B *) getAnObject(); Is there some way I can typecast an object I've received from a generic-pointer-producing function at run-time in the scripting language using the wrappers? (In my case, Lua?) I have a function that could produce one of about a hundred possible classes, and I'd like to avoid writing an enormous switch structure that I'd have to maintain in C++. At the point where I receive the generic pointer, I also have a string representation of the data type I'd like to cast it to. Any thoughts? Thanks! -- EDIT -- I notice that SWIG offers to generate copy constructors for all of my classes. If I had it generate those, could I do something like the following?: var = myModule.getAnObject(); -- Function that returns an object type-cast down to a pointer of the parent class, as in the function getAnObject() above. var = myModule.ClassThatExtendsBaseClass(var); -- A copy constructor that SWIG theoretically creates for me and have var then be an instance of the inheriting class that knows it's an instance of the inheriting class?

I would like to remove the accents (e,e,i,...) in the logins. Here is my query. Is there a character set that does not contain accents?   • WPF TypeConverter ConvertTo not firing

    Hi, I have a dependency property in a class which I need to be converted to a string. I have added the TypeConverty attribute on the property. The type I am converting is the .net Style class. [TypeConverter(typeof(BulletStyleTypeConverter))] public Style BulletStyle { get { return (Style)GetValue(BulletStyleProperty); } set { this.SetValue(BulletStyleProperty, value); } } When I put the string "Rectangle" in for BulletStyle in xaml it hits the ConvertFrom method in my converter. However, when I use XamlWriter.Save() to serialise this, the property does not appear as an attribute in the string which is produced. I have implemented ConvertTo and put a breakpoint on, which is never hit. I have implemented CanConvertTo and put a breakpoint on, which IS hit and returns true. So i'm stumped as to why ConvertTo never fires.

  • How do you use any2mobi command line tool (part of Calibre) to make mobi files from HTML?

    I am on MAC OS X 10.5.5. I installed Calibre, a tool for converting e-book files from one format to another. It has a GUI as well as command line tools. I am trying to run the command line tool "any2mobi" to convert HTML files to MOBI pocket format or Kindle AZW format, with a TOC. I get the error "-bash: any2mobi: command not found". Clearly, any2mobi is not in my path. Where is it? I tried searching but came up empty. I installed version 0.6.0b6 of Calibre.

  • Using clang to analyze C++ code

    We want to do some fairly simple analysis of user's C++ code and then use that information to instrument their code (basically regen their code with a bit of instrumentation code) so that the user can run a dynamic analysis of their code and get stats on things like ranges of values of certain numeric types. clang should be able to handle enough C++ now to handle the kind of code our users would be throwing at it - and since clang's C++ coverage is continuously improving by the time we're done it'll be even better. So how does one go about using clang like this as a standalone parser? We're thinking we could just generate an AST and then walk it looking for objects of the classes we're interested in tracking. Would be interested in hearing from others who are using clang without LLVM.

This all file types are easily download if any one have url. So what is the better way to prevent the download of the file.     After converting a Hybrid ASP.NET MVC1 app to MVC2 I'm getting the following error when I try and run the application: The type or namespace name 'Mvc' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web' (are you missing an assembly reference?) The allegeded culprit in the web.config file is System.Web.Mvc: <namespaces> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc"/> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc.Ajax"/> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc.Html"/> So far my investigation seems to lead me to believe that version 2 of System.Web.Mvc is not installed or has not been picked up. I've tried creating a File New Project based on MVC 2 and that's picking up the new (v2) version of MVC. I've also converted some other projects (that were not hybrids) and they've converted without problem to MVC2. I've also uninstalled MVC1 to try and remove references to it from the GAC. However, none of this has worked. Any ideas?

    Hello World. I'm tasked with reading a poorly formatted binary file and taking in the variables. Although I need to do it in C++ (ROOT, specifically), I've decided to do it in python because python makes sense to me, but my plan is to get it working in python and then tackle re-writing in in C++, so using easy to use python modules won't get me too far later down the road. Basically, I do this: In [5]: some_value Out[5]: '\x00I' In [6]: ''.join([str(ord(i)) for i in some_value]) Out[6]: '073' In [7]: int(''.join([str(ord(i)) for i in some_value])) Out[7]: 73 And I know there has to be a better way. What do you think?

    I have a tab delimited file where each record has a timestamp field in 12-hour format: mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss [AM|PM]. I need to quickly convert these fields to 24-hour time: mm/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss. What would be the best way to do this? I'm running on a Windows platform, but I have access to sed, awk, perl, python, and tcl in addition to the usual Windows tools.

  • Building a directory tree from a list of file paths

    I am looking for a time efficient method to parse a list of files into a tree. There can be hundreds of millions of file paths. The brute force solution would be to split each path on occurrence of a directory separator, and traverse the tree adding in directory and file entries by doing string comparisons but this would be exceptionally slow. The input data is usually sorted alphabetically, so the list would be something like: C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile2 C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile3 C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Blender\alibrary.dll C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Blender\and_so_on.txt From this ordering my natural reaction is to partition the directory listings into groups... somehow... before doing the slow string comparisons. I'm really not sure. I would appreciate any ideas. Edit: It would be better if this tree were lazy loaded from the top down if possible.

  • PartCover shows 0% coverage for getter and 100% coverage for setter despite the code being commented

    Hi all, I have a public property in my code as below: [DependencyInjection] public IEVentController EventController { get; set; } I also have a line of code referencing the EventController property: EventController.ExecuteObjectEvents( someObject, null ); Now currently (due to some missing implementation in another part of the application) I commented both these code sections out. Nevertheless, when I run PartCover it shows me a coverage of 0% for get_EventController and 100% for set_EventController. The strange thing is, that the Coverage Details view also correctly shows me that the code is commented out and therefore should not be treated as code - why does PartCover recognise it anyway? I would have expected to not get the getter and setter listed in the PartCover result. There is definitely no other reference to that code in the class to be tested, any ideas?   • How can I Unescape and Reescape strings in .net?

    So here's my situation. I am working on an editor for a communications channel that works over an RS232 serial ASCII terminal. Let's not go into detail for that ;-) To simplify, I need a textbox on a WPF control that can take in text like "Commit\r\n" (which is the .net string "Commit\r\n") and convert it back to "Commit\r\n" as a .net string. I was hoping for a string.Unescape() and string.Escape() method pair, but it doesn't seem to exist. Am I going to have to write my own? or is there a more simple way to do this?

You all know JavaScripts/PHPs infamous type systems: PHP example: echo "123abc"+2; // 125 - the reason for this is explained // in the PHP docs but still: This hurts echo "4"+1; // 5 - Oh please echo "ABC"*5; // 0 - WTF // That's too much, seriously now. // This here might be actually a use for weak typing, but no - // it has to output garbage. JavaScript example: // A good old JavaScript, maybe you'll do better? alert("4"+1); // 51 - Oh come on. alert("abc"*3); // NaN - What the... // Have your creators ever heard of the word "consistence"? This is a fact and really not subjective. Now when having a closer look at the type systems of Ruby and Python it seems like they are having a much more intelligent and consistent type system. I think these examples weren't really necessary as we all know that PHP/JavaScript have a weak and Python/Ruby have a strong type system. I just wanted to mention why I'm asking this. Now I have two questions: When looking at those examples, what are the advantages of PHPs and JavaScripts type systems? I can only find downsides: They are inconsistent and I think we know that this is not good Types conversions are hardly controllable Bugs are more likely to happen and much harder to spot Do you prefer one of the both systems? Why? Personally I have worked with PHP, JavaScript and Python so far and must say that Pythons type system has really only advantages over PHPs and JavaScripts. Does anybody here not think so? Why then?

  • Can Castle Monorail and ASP.NET MVC coexist in the same project?

    I have a large Monorail project that we have decided we are going to move over to ASP.NET MVC. Most of the underlying system will likely be reusable, but the Controllers will of course have to be rewritten, and proabably at least some of the views. It strikes me that a low risk avenue for this is gradually convert well defined sections of the system to MVC, and perhaps as MVCContrib Portable Areas. Does anyone know if there are any non-obvious gotchas that I am likely to run into with this approach? Thanks for your input, Matthew
