• Help using RDA on a Desktop Applicaton?

  I have a .NET 3.5 Compact Framework project that uses RDA for moving data between its mobile device's local SqlCe database and a remote MSSql-2008 server(it uses RDA Push and Pull). The server machine a virtual directory with sqlcesa35.dll (v3.5.5386.0) setup for RDA. We usually install these cabs on the mobile devices and the RDA process does not have any problems: sqlce.wce5.armv4i.cab sqlce.repl.wce5.armv4i.cab Now I am trying to run this application as a desktop application. RDA Pull (download) has been working well. But the RDA Push (upload) is giving me some problems. This is the exception that I get on the desktop application when I try to use RDA Push: System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException The Client Agent and Server Agent component versions are incompatible. The compatible versions are: Client Agent versions 3.0 and 3.5 with Server Agent versions 3.5 and Client Agent version 3.5 with Server Agent version 3.5. Re-install the replication components with the matching versions for client and server agents. [ 35,30,Client Agent version = ,Server Agent version = ] I have tried copying the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\Desktop\SqlServerCe.dll (v3.5.5692.0) to bin\debug I have also tried copying another version of SqlServerCe.dll (v3.0.5206.0) to bin\debug. But this just gives me a slightly different exception: System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException [ 35,30 ] Is there a different setup or any different dlls that I need to use? Thanks, -Joel

• Help with MySQL Query using CASE statement

  I am trying to group a number of customers together based on their "Head Office" or "Parent" location. THis works ok except for a flaw which I didn't forsee when I was developing my system... For customers that did not have a "Parent" (standalone business) I defaulted the parent_id to 0. Therefore, my data would look like this: id parent_id customer 1 0 CustName#1 2 4 CustName#2 - Melbourne 3 4 CustName#2 - Sydney 4 0 CustName#2 (Head Office) What I want to do is Group my results together so that I have one row for CustName#1 and one row for CustName#2 BUT my problem is that there is no parent record for parent_id=0 and these rows are being excluded when using an inner join. I've tried using a case statement but that is not working either (parents are still being ignored) Any help would be greatly appreciated. • Registry remotley hacked win 7 need help tracking the perp

  I was writing some .VBS code at thhe office that would allow certain file extensions to be downloaded without a warning dialog on a w7x32 system. The system I was writing this on is in a lab on a segmented subnet. All web access is via a proxy server. The only means of accessing my machine is via the internet or from within the labs MSFT AD domain. While writing and testing my code I found a message of sorts. Upon refresing the registry to verify my code changed a dword, instead the message HELLO was written and visible in regedit where the dword value wass called for. I took a screen shot and proceeded to edit my code. This same weird behavior occurred last time I was writing registry code except on another internal server. I understand that remote registry access exists for windows systems. I will block this immediately once I return to the office. What I want to know is, can I trace who made this connection? How would I do this? I suspect the cause of this is the cause of other "odd" behaviors I'm experiencing at work such as losing control of my input director master control for over an hour and unchanged code that all of a sudden fails for no logical region. These failures occur at funny times, whenver I'm about to give a demonstration of my test code. I know this sounds crazy however knowledge of the registry component makes this believable. Once the registry can be accessed, the entire system is compromised. Any help or sanity checking is appreciated.

  http://i.imgur.com/foT9u.jpg Using that image as an example, here's what I need to do: Crop the blue square to have the same proportional ratio as that of the black square From doing that, I should then be able to resize the blue square to fit into the black square without losing stretching it - It'll retain its proportions. Note: The blue square must be cropped 'from the center'. The original center should remain the center after the crop (it can't be cropped from the top left, for example). Here's what I'm thinking needs to be done (using the, landscape, blue square as the example): Figure out the difference between the black squares width and height Figure out the difference between the blue squares width and height This should tell me how much to crop the blue square by and with how much of a 'top offset' Once it's cropped to fit the black squares proportions, it can then be resized I've been messing around with code similar to: if (BLACK_WIDTH > BLACK_HEIGHT) { $diffHeight = BLACK_WIDTH - BLACK_HEIGHT; $newHeight = $blue_Height - $blue_Height; echo $newHeight; } And using Photoshop to try and get a feel for how this should be done, but it continues to fail .< How should I go about doing this? How can I figure out how much to crop by (depending on if the blue square is landscape or portrait)? How do I then get the offset to retain the blue squares center?

• Help me understand dynamic layouts in Sinatra

  Help me understand this; I'm learning Sinatra (and Rails for that matter, er, and Ruby). Say I'm doing a search app. The search form is laid out in one div, and the results will be laid out in another. The search form is rendered into the div by a previous view (maybe from a login form). I want to process the form params, perform the search, and render the results into the results div. If I have a single "yield" in the layout and render the divs from different views, the results div erases the search div when it renders. If I define the divs in the default layout, then just render the content, obviously the layout will be messed up: there would have to be two "yields" and I don't think Sinatra supports passing blocks in to yields. I tried foca's sinatra-content-for plugin, and that seems closer to what I need. But I can't figure out where to place the "yield_content" statements. If I have this haml in my layout: #search -# search form = yield_content :search #results -# search results = yield_content :results ... this in my search view: - content_for :search do %form{:method => "post"... etc. ... and this in the results view: - content_for :results do %table{:class => 'results'... etc. This sort of works but when I render the results view, the search div is emptied out. I would like to have it remain. Am I doing something wrong? How should I set this up?

Any and all input that will help me is greatly apprecaited. I have read over http://www.techonthenet.com/sql/order_by.php however its not gotten me very far in this question. • Please help me with a Git workflow

  I'm an SVN user hoping to move to Git. I've been reading documentation and tutorials all day, and I still have unanswered questions. I don't know if this workflow will make sense, but here's my situation, and what I would like to get out of my workflow: Multiple developers, all developing locally on their work stations 3 versions of the website: Dev, Staging, Production Here's my dream: A developer works locally on his own branch, say "developer1", tests on his local machine, and commits his changes. Another developer can pull down those changes into his own branch. Merge developer1 - developer2. When the work is ready to be seen by the public, I'd like to be able to "push" to Dev, Staging, or Production. git push origin staging or maybe.. git merge developer1 staging I'm not sure. Like I said, I'm still new to it. Here are my main questions: -Do my websites (Dev, Staging, Production) have to be repositories? And do they have to be "bare" in order to be the recipients of new changes? -Do I want one repository or many, with several branches? -Does this even make sense, or am I on the wrong path? I've read a lot of tutorials, so I'm really hoping someone can just help me out with my specific situation. Thanks so much!

I need it to close and go to a new page.   (This is related to scons but I think most of the following should be fairly general to python) I would like to define a python file/library that I put in a Well-Known Place somewhere on my computer that I can use to define machine-specific paths, and was looking for help on how to do this well, since I'm a beginner to Python & really only use it for my scons work. scons uses a SConstruct file which can execute python code. What I would like to do is something like this: My SConstruct file would contain this at the beginning: defaultEnv = JJJJJ.getMachineSpecificPaths() or (do both of these syntaxes work?) import JJJJJ defaultEnv = getMachineSpecificPaths() I define a JJJJJ.py file somewhere installed in the python dir which contains the following def getMachineSpecificPaths(): ... does something here, I don't know what ... that reads a file machine-specific-paths.txt (maybe it has the code Ross Rogers mentioned in my other question) located in the same directory as JJJJJ.py containing the following: machine-specific-paths.txt TI_C28_ROOT C:/appl/ti/ccs/?4.1.1/ccsv4/tools/co?mpiler/c2000 JSDB c:/bin/jsdb/jsdb.exe PYTHON_PATH c:/appl/python/2.6.4 The thing is, I don't really know much about the conventions in Python about where you put system-wide libraries and files. • I need some pointers on how to implement inertia

  Ok, so I've created a little plugin that takes a bunch of elements and creates a sort of never ending list. I'll try to explain... I have a div, and it's got about 20 elements tags in it. When the user scrolls up, the top element moves out of view and is moved to the bottom of the list. And vice-versa so that when the user scrolls down, the bottom element is moved to the top of the list. This is specifically for Mobile Safari (iPad, iPhone) web content and you can see the work in progress here... http://appliedworks.co.uk/files/times/SVGTests/drumView/drum.html You'll need an iPad or iPhone top see the scrolling in action. You can see the plugin code here... http://appliedworks.co.uk/files/times/SVGTests/drumView/drumView-0.1b.js What I would like to do is implement inertia so the scrolling slows to a halt in response to how fast or slow the user is scrolling when their finger leaves the screen. Just like the inertia commonly found in the iPhone / iPad UI. The problem is, every time an element moves to the top or the bottom of the list, the scollTop value for the parent div is adjusted to make it look like all the elements are staying in the same place. Which means the scrollTop value is never more than the top elements total height. So there's no value I can think of that I can keep on manipulating to give the illusion of inertia. I'm stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  I have written a logging application in Python that is meant to start at boot, but I've been unable to start the app with Ubuntu's Upstart init daemon. When run from the terminal with sudo /usr/local/greeenlog/main.pyw, the application works perfectly. Here is what I've tried for the Upstart job: /etc/init/greeenlog.conf # greeenlog description "I log stuff." start on startup stop on shutdown script exec /usr/local/greeenlog/main.pyw end script My application starts one child thread, in case that is important. I've tried the job with the expect fork stanza without any change in the results. I've also tried this with sudo and without the script statements (just a lone exec statement). In all cases, after boot, running status greeenlog returns greeenlog stop/waiting and running start greeenlog returns: start: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.61" (uid=1000 pid=2496 comm="start) interface="com.ubuntu.Upstart0_6.Job" member="Start" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="com.ubuntu.Upstart" (uid=0 pid=1 comm="/sbin/init")) Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? • Need a tool to search large structure text documents for words, phrases and related phrases

  I have to keep up with structured documents containing things such as requests for proposals, government program reports, threat models and all kinds of things like that. They are in techno-legalese as I would call them: highly structured, with section numbering and 3, 4 and 5 levels of nesting. All in English I need a more efficient way to locate those paragraphs of nuggets that matter to me. So what I’d like is kind of a local document index/repository, that would allow me to have some standing queries and easily locate sections in documents that talk about my queries. Here’s an example: I’d like to load in 10 large PDF files, each of say 100 pages. Each PDF contains English text, formatted very nicely into paragraphs and sections. I’d like to specify that I am interested in “blogging platforms”, “weaknesses in Ruby”, “localization and internationalization” Ideally then look at a list that showed the section of text, the name of the document, and other information that seemed to be related to and/or include the words and phrases I specified. I am sure something like this exists. I would call it something like document indexing, document comprehension or structured searching.

  I've been trying to figure out how to gain some improvement in my code at a very crucial couple lines: float x = a*b; float y = c*d; float z = e*f; float w = g*h; all a, b, c... are floats. I decided to look into using SSE, but can't seem to find any improvement, in fact it turns out to be twice as slow. My SSE code is: Vector4 abcd, efgh, result; abcd = [float a, float b, float c, float d]; efgh = [float e, float f, float g, float h]; _asm { movups xmm1, abcd movups xmm2, efgh mulps xmm1, xmm2 movups result, xmm1 } I also attempted using standard inline assembly, but it doesn't appear that I can pack the register with the four floating points like I can with SSE. Any comments, or help would be greatly appreciated, I mainly need to understand why my calculations using SSE are slower than the serial C++ code? I'm compiling in Visual Studio 2005, on a Windows XP, using a Pentium 4 with HT if that provides any additional information to assit. Thanks in advance!

• Attention JavaScript gurus: Need a hand with setInterval()

  I am trying to make a non interactive display for a real estate shop window. It's been a while since I've played with setInterval(). The first time my script steps through, it is fine. But when it tries to get the next property via getNextProperty(), it starts to go haywire. If you have Firebug, or an equivalent output of console.log(), you'll see it is calling things it shouldn't! Now there is a fair bit of JavaScript, so I'll feel better linking to it than posting it all. Store Display Offending JavaScript It is worth mentioning all my DOM/AJAX is done with jQuery. I've tried as best to make sure clearInterval() is working, and it seems to not run any code below it. The setInterval() is used to preload the next image, and then display it in the gallery. When the interval detects we are at the last image ((nextListItem.length === 0)), it is meant to clear that interval and start over with a new property. It has been driving me nuts for a while now, so anyone able to help me? It is probably something really obvious! Many thanks!

  I’m currently working on a small web app that allows people to search for music album covers. However, I’m having a problem getting my PHP proxy to work. Right now I’m using a simple PHP proxy script to grab the HTML from Google’s image result page, and parse it to find the first image result (I can’t use the image search API because it doesn’t offer the parameters that I need to use). I know that the PHP script works in some way, because I’ve used it to grab XML data across domains, so I also assume that since I’m trying to grab HTML that’s what’s causing the error. • Building Paypal based membership website - total noob - would appreciate help

  this is a follow up on my question on paypal integration. I'm working ona membership site for racing fans. My membership site has 3 membership levels - free, gold and premium. When a user signs up he/she can gets a free membership on the spot but has the option to upgrade to a gold membership for 4 Dollars a month or a premium membership for 10 Dollars a month. I've gone through the paypal integration guide a few times though and have a vague understanding of how to get this to work. I think the recurring payments option would be fine enough - however I don't know how do I implement this in my system. Like when a user decides to go for a paid account i.e. Gold or premium from basic - what should I do on both my code side and on the paypal account side - I'd really appreciate if anyone would outline what I'd have to do here. Plus when a user decides to upgrade from lets say a Gold to a premium account - there is the issue of computing how much should be charged to upgrade his/her account eg: a user has been billed for 4 dollars and the next day opts to go for a premium account so assuming that the surplus for the rest of the month is 5 dollars and further from that all payments would be recurring 10 dollars monthly - how do I implement this? And in case a user decides to downgrade from a premium account of 10 dollars a month to a gold account of 4 dollars a month - how do I handle the surplus which would have to be refunded for that month alone and changing the membership? And like wise if someone wishes to cancel membership and go to having a free account - how do I refund whatever is owed and cancel the subscription. I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm asking to be spoon fed :( I'm quite new to this and this is for a client and I would really appreciate all the help here and really have to get this working right.   Implement the “Word Decoder” game. This game will present the player with a series of scrambled words (up to 20 words) and challenge him/her to attempt to unscramble them. Each time a new word is displayed, and a text input is provided for the user to write the unscrambled word. Once the player thinks the word has been properly decoded, he clicks on the “Check answer” button. If the player’s answer is correct, his score is increased by one. If his answer is not correct, he is notified and he is then given a different word. For example: The word “tac” is displayed. The user inputs “cat”. The answer is correct, and the user’s score is 1. The word “niol” is then displayed. The user inputs “oinl”. The answer is not correct, the user is alerted, and the score stays the same. The game then displays the next word and so on. After the last word, the final score is given to the player. can you help me please???

• Drupal Studs help me with my form_alter hook ( I am almost there)

  So I think I am almost there conceptually but need some missing pointers. Objective is to add a few more fields to the normal user registration form, style it a little, then submit it with storing the extra fields in a table. This is what I have so far. Can someone give me the final nudge and get me going. Please help me. Also how do I apply some minor styling like aligning the new form fields ?
