• Having 'mvn deploy' in Hudson's build goals and the standard approach of releasing

  I set up Hudson for my project with the build goals mvn clean deploy site:site, run a build every midnight and whenever there are new changes. One thing I have been wondering is whether I should include deploy in the build goals because it could happen that if I had just released version 1.0.0 of my project (I've changed the pom to be version 1.0.0 and committed it) but not yet increased the version number to 1.0.1-SNAPSHOT for several days, I could end up with multiple different 1.0.0 builds being deployed at different times. But I've seen people are using deploy in their Hudson's build goals - I wonder how they deal with this issue. What's the correct way of doing a release with Maven actually? Thanks for any pointers!

  I have started a maven project trying to implement the MapReduce algorithm in java 1.5.0_14. I have chosen the 0.20.2 API hadoop version. In the pom.xml i'm using thus the following dependency: < dependency < groupId>org.apache.hadoop< /groupId> < artifactId>hadoop-core< /artifactId> < version>0.20.2< /version> < /dependency But when I'm using an import to the org.apache.hadoop classes, I get the following error: bad class file: ${HOME_DIR}\repository\org\apache\hadoop\hadoop-core\0.20.2\hadoop-core-0.20.2.jar(org/apache/hadoop/fs/Path.class) class file has wrong version 50.0, should be 49.0. • Specify artifact version outside of pom

  Is there a way to specify the artifact version outside of the POM file? I have 2 CI projects that build an artifact. One builds a "stable" development version from a 'develop' branch and the other builds an unstable version which is the result of merging all active feature branches into the develop branch. I want the stable version to build as xyz-1.0.jar and the integration build to go in as xyz-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar. Is there a way for the CI job to run a maven task or specify via the command line if a release or snapshot jar should be built without manually modifying the POM? Currently I have the version specified as 1.0 in the pom. I considered using the release plugin but I don't want the automatic version number increase and tagging that it does.

• How do I use Haml in a view in my new plugin?

  I'm creating a new plugin for a jruby on rails application that will eventually be turned into a gem. Inside my plugin I have controllers, helpers and views. For my views I'd like to use Haml. The problem is that I can't seem to get it to recognize that they are haml templates. Is it even possible to do this? Is there a way for a plugin to have Haml as a dependency for its view? And by that I mean, I intend for the plugin that I'm creating to have a view created by the plugin, that can be used by the application developer. for example: vendor/ plugins/ my_plugin/ lib/ app/ views/ my_plugin_demo/ index.haml.html controllers/ my_plugin_demo_controller.rb helpers/ In my plugin's init.rb, I tried: require 'my_plugin' require 'haml' #doesn't seem to make a difference :( but that didn't seem to make any difference. Has anybody had any experience with this? I can't seem to find any documentation on how to make this work. Are plugin views restricted to .erb templates?

• I can't use achiva as a proxy of my remote repository

  I want to install Achiva to manage my Maven repositories. I add a new internal repository called "public" and a new remote repository, which is my company's repository. Then I configure the proxy connector to let the repository "public" to be a proxy of the remote one. But When I enter the address "http://localhost:8084/archiva/repository/public/.../....pom" in the web brower,error occurred "Unable to fetch artifact resource". However, if I replace the remote repository with another one such as "http://repository.codehaus.org/", the proxy works. I don't know why this happens, are there something wrong with my remote repository address?

• Building a jar to be used in an eclipse PDE?

  I have written an application that use a third party library. I have then packaged this as an executable jar using the maven-assembly-plugin (producing a jar with all dependencies including some of the third-party jars). Next I need to add this jar to a PDE project so it can be launched from eclipse. But to make this work I need to add some of the thirs-party dependencies to my PDE project which is already located in the packaged jar. So I get duplicated dependencies. Any ideas on how to avoid this? Or suggestion to documentation that describes how this is done properly?

• How do I get Tomcat 7 to start up faster in Linux CentOS kernel version 2.6.18?

  I am experiencing a problem with slow start up times for Tomcat 7. I have done some testing by tweaking configuration parameters both on Linux CentOS kernel version 2.6.18 and on Windows 7 using this link as my primary guide: http://wiki.apache.org/tomcat/HowTo/FasterStartUp and managed only a modest improvement. The improvements seemed to result when I added metadata-complete="true" attribute to the element of my WEB-INF/web.xml file and when I added the names of almost all the jars we use for our application to the tomcat.util.scan.DefaultJarScanner.jarsToSkip property in conf/catalina.properties file. I've also used this JAVA_OPTS in the setenv.sh file: JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -server -Xms1536m -Xmx1536m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=1800000 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=1800000 -Dorg.apache.jasper.runtime.BodyContentImpl.LIMIT_BUFFER=true " but actually saw my start up times increase slightly. Our QA and production environments are on Linux CentOS so I'm hoping to get more information on improving Tomcat 7 start up times in that environment.   What is the right way of doing both client side and server side validation using jQuery and CodeIgniter? I am using the jQuery form plugin for form submit. I would like to use jQuery validation plugin (http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/Validation) for client side validation and CodeIgniter form validation on the server side. However the two don't seem to gel together (or I am unable to get my head around it). Can someone help please? Whether its a client side validation or server side validation, the user should see consistent UI displaying error messages next to the input fields.

  I need to add a basic form page in the website, that runs on WordPress framework. I have the following raw materials ready: Client side: html form layout,css and jquery validation code. Server side: form handler php function that processes the $_POST[] data. My problem is to integrate this code in the Wordpress framework. I have looked at some plugins but they are doing much more than I would like and also they have their own validation which is cumbersome to change.   Hi I'm developing an Eclipse product. In my plugin i have added an executable file (.exe) which i need to execute. When i launch the product from the eclipse, the file is referenced using the path of the executable on my file system and all went ok. When i export the product the plugin is packaged in a jar file which contains the executable file too. When it references the file the path is something like : $path_to_the_plugin_jar!/$path_to_exe_file_inside_the_jar Using this path to launch a new Process Thrown an exception. How can i refer to a file inside a jar?How could i execute the file? Can i extract the file when i export the product with eclipse? thanks

• How can I add a default header to my source files automatically in Eclipse?

  Hi. I'm trying to figure out how I can have a comment header automatically added to all new source files in my eclipse java project. I've looked around but I haven't found a simple solution to automate this process. I gave JAutodoc a try, and even though it does allow me to specify a header I still had to tell the plugin manually to inject the header and it didn't seem very fond of my keyword-subsitution. I'm by the way using the Maven2 plugin for Eclipse for most of my projects if that's any help. Any tips?

• Ajax doesn't trigger a change-event on a webkit based browser

  I have adapted a Jquery plugin to for-fill my needs to send GET requests to servers as a way of "pinging" them. I've also added some javascript code to add some fancy features like: depending on the changed value in a that the Jquery plugin changes, it changes the Icon accordingly. To make it all work essentially, I made so that when Ajax gets a "complete" event, it forces a "onChange" event to the span, triggering the javascript validation function to change the status icons. • WordPress Write Cache Problem with Multiple Sessions

  I'm working on a content dripper custom plugin in WordPress that my client asked me to build. He says he wants it to catch a page view event, and if it's the right time of day (24 hours since last post), to pull from a resource file and output another post. He needed it to also raise a flag and prevent other sessions from firing that same snippet of code. So, raise some kind of flag saying, "I'm posting that post, go away other process," and then it makes that post and releases the flag again. However, the strangest thing is occurring when placed under load with multiple sessions hitting the site with page views. It's firing instead of one post -- it's randomly doing like 1, 2, or 3 extra posts, with each one thinking that it was the right time to post because it was 24 hours past the time of the last post. Because it's somewhat random, I'm guessing that the problem is some kind of write caching where the other sessions don't see the raised flag just yet until a couple microseconds pass. The plugin was raising the "flag" by simply writing to the wp_options table with the update_option() API in WordPress. The other user sessions were supposed to read that value with get_option() and see the flag, and then not run that piece of code that creates the post because a given session was already doing it. Then, when done, I lower the flag and the other sessions continue as normal. But what it's doing is letting those other sessions in. To make this work, I was using add_action('loop_start','checkToAddContent'). The odd thing about that function though is that it's called more than once on a page, and in fact some plugins may call it. I don't know if there's a better event to hook. Even still, even if I find an event to hook that only runs once on a page view, I still have multiple sessions to contend with (different users who may view the page at the same time) and I want only one given session to trigger the content post when the post is due on the schedule. I'm wondering if there are any WordPress plugin devs out there who could suggest another event hook to latch on to, and to figure out another way to raise a flag that all sessions would see. I mean, I could use the shared memory API in PHP, but many hosting plans have that disabled. Can't use a cookie or session var because that's only one single session. About the only thing that might work across hosting plans would be to drop a file as a flag, instead. If the file is present, then one session has the flag. If the file is not present, then other sessions can attempt to get the flag. Sure, I could use the file route, but it's kind of immature in my opinion and I was wondering if there's something in WordPress I could do.

  i am trying to write a plugin which rewrites "post_link", "page_link", "category_link", "tag_link" with an action hook on wordpress. it's similar to this: add_action("post_link", "the_rewrite_function"); function the_rewrite_function($link) { ... return $new_link; } for example the permalink to the post is: http://www.example.com/2010/11/11/the-post-name/ i am changing it with the function to: http://www.example.com/2010/11/11/the-awesome-post-name/ of course when i do this the new permalink is going to 404 (as expected) what can i do to make the new permalink go to the original and working one? Please consider this: it should work on any permalink structure so a permalink structure spesific solution won't do any good. i need to solve this inside the plugin. thanks!

• Why does Spring Security Core RC4 require Grails 2.3?

  On the Spring Security Core plugin GitHub repo, I see that Graeme on May 21st upped the required version of Grails from 2.0 to 2.3 before the RC4 version was released a couple of months later, but I don't see any explanation for why. Was it mismatched dependencies, bug reports, etc? I run a 2.2.4 app, and I would prefer not to upgrade at this point just to get the latest RC of spring security core. I understand if the upgrade to 3.2.0.RELEASE of spring security caused mismatched dependencies with older versions of Grails since I've run into the same issues before. This originally came up due to a pull request on the spring security OAuth2 provider plugin that I maintain. The pull request upped the required version to 2.3, and the requester pointed me to the RC4 release of core as the reason. Thanks for the good works as always!
