  • Visual Studio Code Analysis - Does Microsoft follow it themselves?

    Did a quick search but could not find anything about this. I guess all of you know that the Visual Studio Code Analysis is quite nitpicking and gives warnings about a lot of things. Does anybody know how well Microsoft follow this themselves..? That is, if I were to run a code analysis on their assemblies, would the warnings be none or very few (perhaps surpress warning with a justification..?).

  • What is the XML spec for importing into Microsoft Project?

    From our existing, internal tracking system I would like to create an XML export that I can then bring into Microsoft Project 2007 to further display and manipulation. I've been unable to find a straightforward explanation of how the XML should look for this kind of import. I want to be able to create dependencies, assign resources, etc. The Excel/CSV imports don't appear to offer all these capabilities so I think XML is the better way...if I could just get a spec for it.

  • Ping bind errors in Operations Manager 2007

    I am having an issue in SCOM 2007 R2. I am routinely getting the following errors: Failed to ping or bind to the RID Master FSMO role holder. The default gateway is not pingable. Failed to ping or bind to the Infrastructure Master FSMO role holder. The default gateway is not pingable. Failed to ping or bind to the Domain Naming Master FSMO role holder. The default gateway is not pingable. Failed to ping of bind to the Schema Master FSMO role holder. The default gateway is not pingable. The weird thing about these errors if I log into the server in question or if I log in to the SCOM server I can ping everything just fine. To top it all off the server in question is the role holder for 2 of the roles it is complaining about (RID and Infrastructure). Any thoughts as to what might be going on?

Failed to receive heartbeat from agent Server Log: 2012-12-19 00:32:12,132 INFO [NodeConfiguratorThread-4- 0:node.NodeConfiguratorProgress@503] 192.168.1.100: Setting WAIT_FOR_HEARTBEAT as failed and done state All nodes (name node and (2)client nodes) are VM's running 64bit CentOS. sshd has been enabled on all nodes, and VM's are set to Bridge. Any clue on how to fix this error?

    I thought I'd share my experiences here. I work for a small business with only ~20 users. I wanted the ability to use managed client preferences to assign things like the software update server. Basically the ability to manage my Macs easily and in a native way. At first I tried the magic triangle solution, but I found this to be very complicated. Not only does it require a Mac OS X Server, but it gives you two points of failure. Additionally each Mac workstation must be bound to both servers. Eventually I sucked it up and went with the schema changes documented here. I was hesitant at first, because the instructions require a lot of manual work. However it was fairly basic and only took me about an hour and a half. Below you'll find the schema changes file that was a result of my work. I followed the instructions exactly and double checked everything, after six months of having this in place things have been running great. Too good to not share.   • Metro apps crash on startup, driver or permissions issue?

    After installing Win8 x64 RC, Metro apps worked correctly, but desktop OpenGL apps were slow and unresponsive. I installed the latest Win8 nVidia drivers, and the OpenGL apps started working correctly. At the same time, because of annoying permission messages, I changed the C:\ drive and all its files ownerships to my user, and gave it full permission. I restarted my pc after installing the drivers, and now Metro apps only show the splash screen, then crash. I tried installing other versions of the nVidia drivers, with the same result. My GPU is a GeForce GTX275. Is this a known problem with nVidia drivers? Or maybe changing the ownership of C:\ is the real problem? Thank you. More information (after looking in the event viewer) I've managed to find the problem and the error in the Event Viewer. I still cannot solve it. I've tried the following rule: -- {{{ Rules awful.rules.rules = { { rule = {class = "Firefox" }, properties = { tag = tags[1]["www"] }}, } -- }}} However, if I hit Super+R then type 'firefox' or run 'firefox &' from a terminal, Firefox opens in whatever tag I'm viewing. I've tried {class = "firefox"} and properties = { tag = tags[1][2] } but those modified rules did not work either. What is the correct way to set up a rule to make firefox always open in a particular tag?

    What exactly is the CPU Average field in VMM 2012 showing me? I'm running Server 2008 R2 with VMM 2012. My server has 2x16 core CPUs installed. An example virtual machine has 4 virtual processors, and shows 20% CPU usage. Is that: 20% of the entire system's available CPU power? 20% of 4 of the 32 core's CPU power? 20% of one core's CPU? (in which case it could go as high as 400%) Something else entirely? How can I tell how much of the entire system's CPU power is being used (all 32 cores)? Edit: Well, I can tell for sure it's not 20% of the entire system's CPU power - since the entire server's CPU averages add up to well over 100% right now.

P.S.: I was suspecting superfetch service, I disabled it, restarted pc, and it didnt work, since the memory is the highest point when I login with password, it is really annoying since I need about 1minute to see my desktop, neither alone try anything else. After loging in it slowly drops and after random time it starts rising again. That doesnt happen immediately after a fresh windows install. And how the drivers go, I tryed older drivers for GPU, and newest ones.

    Since our network discovery takes too long I tried to split the biggest job into two parts. The two parts use the same Perl script but have a different scope. I copied a Job (Agent) doing the following: Copied the .agnt file Copied the associated perl script The problem is that one or the other job (changes randomly) does not run. The Disco Process will fail eventually.   • Authenticating Active Directory Users to Mac OS X Mavericks Server L2TP VPN Service

    We have a Windows Server 2012 Active Directory Infrastructure that consists of two domain controllers. Bound to the Active Directory Domain is a Mac OS X Mavericks Server 10.9.3. The server runs Profile Manager and VPN Services. My Active Directory users are able to authenticate to the Profile Manager, but not the VPN. I have found several threads on other forums of other users reporting similar issues, here is just one of many references: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5174619 It appears as though the issue is related to a CHAP authentication failure. Can anyone suggest what next troubleshooting steps I might take? Is there a way to liberalize the authentication mechanism to include MSCHAP? Here is an excerpt of the transaction from the logs.     I have an issue with sendmail on my server (ubuntu 12.10) with php, mysql,and wordpress installed. Basically I want to create a contact form in my blog to receive emails from visitors directly into my gmail account but it doest work! I created a php file called testmail.php to recall it from the browser: <?php $to = '[email protected]'; $subbject = 'TEST MAIL'; $msg = 'test test test test test test test test test test test test test test test'; $isMailed = mail($to, $subbject, $msg, 'From:me <[email protected]>'); if($isMailed) echo 'mail has been send to: ' . $to; else echo 'mail has NOT been send..'; ?> But I dont receive anything! The /var/log/mail.log says: NOQUEUE: SYSERR(root): opendaemonsocket: daemon MTA-v4: cannot bind: Address already in use What do i do wrong? Where do I need to check? What info do you need more?     Is anyone out there using Pidgin to connect with Shoretel's Instant Messaging? Shoretel 9.2. According to one of the docs I found on Shoretel's website, it should be connecting as a SIMPLE client but so far no dice. It keeps getting an error resolving the server. There's no proxy involved that I know of. I was just wondering if anyone else had this particular configuration and if they'd made it work correctly.
