  • Removing partition to install OS?

    So i have a computer that has 2 hard drives and i installed Ubuntu server on it. I used LVM to connect the two. So i tried to put windows back on it but it failed because it said it couldn't position the drive and then when i booted again the OS couldn't be found. So i booted it with the Ubuntu setup disc but now when it goes to partition it says that the position can not be modified because its already in use. I am asking if there is a way i can just remove everything and start fresh?

  • How to install previously-archived apps from xcode organizer to my iphone

    Hi all. Xcode keeps an archive of all the versions of my apps that I've submitted to the app store in the 'archived applications' section. I assumed using this I could install an old version of an app to my device, in order to reproduce any problems my client may have had with that particular version. However, when I try to do this I get an error: 'this executable was signed with invalid entitlements, the entitlements specified in your applications code signing entitlements do not match those specified in your provisioning profile' The original app was signed using our App Store distribution certificate, and I use the Organizer interface to re-sign it using our Developer profile. select the archived app select the version I want to test click 'share' select 'iphone developer' next to identity save to disk (saves the ipa file) then copy the ipa to the device using the little + button you see next to 'applications' on the screen you get when you select the connected device. Then I get the error, and the app isn't installed. Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong here? Or is there a different process to re-install an archived app to my device? Thanks,

    Hi A couple of months ago we ordered an SSL certificate for a client's server using the request guide in IIS 6.0. This worked fine and the guide was completed when we received the certificate. But about 2 weeks ago the server crashed and had to be restored. Now I can't seem to get the site running. I have the .cer file, but what is the correct procedure to import the the certificate?     I have installed private key (pem encoded) and public key certificate (pem encoded) on amazon load balancer however when i check the ssl with site test tool (http://www.networking4all.com/en/support/tools/site+check/), i get the following error Error while checking the SSL Certificate!! Unable to get the local issuer of the certificate. The issuer of a locally looked up certificate could not be found. Normally this indicates that not all intermediate certificates are installed on the server. i converted crt file to pem using these command from this tutorial openssl x509 -in input.crt -out input.der -outform DER openssl x509 -in input.der -inform DER -out output.pem -outform PEM during setting up of amazon load balancer only option i left out was certificate chain (pem encoded) however this was optional. could this be cause of my issue? and if so i how do i create certificate chain? for the last question i have tried googling however i'm getting more confused than before. please help many thanks in advance. UPDATE @all thanks for the helpful advice. if you make request to verisign they will give you a certificate chain however this chain includes public crt, intermediate crt and root crt. make sure to remove the public crt from your certificate chain (which is the top most certificate) before adding it to your certification chain box of your amazon load balancer. if you are making https request from an android app then above instruction may not work for older android os such as 2.1 and 2.2. to make it work on older android os [https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/index?page=content&id=AR657&actp=LIST&viewlocale=en_US]. on this link click on "retail ssl" tab and then click on "secure site" "CA Bundle for Apache Server". copy and past these intermediate certs into certificate chain box. just incase if you have not found it here is the direct link [https://knowledge.verisign.com/support/ssl-certificates-support/index?page=content&id=AR1409] if you are using geo trust certificates then solution is much the same for android devices however you need to copy and past their intermediate certs for android.   • SugarCRM CE Won't Install on Ubuntu 10.10

    I have a fresh copy of Ubuntu 10.10 server with a working LAMP installation. I downloaded SugarCRM and browsed to its directory to open the installer (via Firefox). The installer appears fine, I accept the license agreement, and it proceeds to check file permissions. It advises that several directories need looser permissions (chmod 766), and I adjust them accordingly. After making the changes, I click "recheck" and the page just reloads as blank (white). There are no errors visible, nothing in the server logs (Apache/PHP) and installation cannot continue. I'm able to get back to the installation tool by readjusting permissions back to my default (0755 for directories, 0644 for files). All files/folders are owned by root and the www-data group. Any idea about what's wrong?

  • Vim: How to Install Airline?

    I'm just getting started with Vim. It's a fun experience, but I've found it to be kind of overwhelming. I'm trying to get this plugin installed, vim-airline, but I'm having a lot of trouble. The Installation section on the Github page simply states: copy all of the files into your ~/.vim directory Presumably, this means download the .zip, extract it, and copy all of those files into ~/.vim/. I did this, but Vim just starts up like normal, and running :help airline just gives: Sorry, no help for airline I assume that this means it isn't getting installed. Also, the statusbar remains the same. I'm new to Vim and would really like to get this working. Thanks in advance! EDIT: I also tried putting the files into /usr/share/vim/vim73/. No dice. EDIT 2: I ran :helptags ~/.vim/doc and now the help-page displays when I type :help airline, but I'm still not getting the plugin itself (the status bar). Vim looks the same, but it can now display the help page.

  • Windows 7 clean install, freezes when starting programs

    Hello Everyone, I have a problem on a brand new Windows 7 Lenovo T510 intel I5/4gb ram. When I got the Laptop, right off the bat i noticed that it would freeze up often on th most simple tasks. After a while I got fed up and reinstalled. All that is installed currently is AVG/Firefox/Office. I Rebooted after installing those things and when I try to open Firefox it freezes just trying to open. Ive tried a few other things and it freezes all the time. Any Ideas what it could be?

  • Fresh install CentOS 6.4 64b with directadmin slowly consumes all memory and crashes

    Dear server fault community, This is my first question on server fault, i'm new to server (mis)configuration so please forgive me for asking something stupid :) I'm running Directadmin on a CentOS 6.4 64b with 4GB memory and over 10000Gh virtual machine. I migrated my websites because my former vps couldn't keep up anymore. Only half of the websites from this 1GB machine were migrated jet. So the migration is still in progress and already my server crashes every day. The server performance up until that moment is perfect. The directadmin log files show nothing out of the ordinary. Yesterday only the mysql server crashed but it also crashed the entire machine before. The memory usage in DA seems to be normal: directadmin directadmin (pid 3923 22158 22159 22160 22161 22162 )8.75 MB dovecot dovecot (pid 3851 ) 47.8 MB exim exim (pid 1350 ) 1.29 MB httpd (pid 21525 21528 21529 21530 21531 21532 21546 21571 21742 21743 21744 )490.4 MB mysqld mysqld (pid 1299 ) 287.8 MB named named (pid 3807 ) 16.3 MB proftpd proftpd (pid 1481 ) 1.91 MB sshd sshd (pid 1173 21494 ) 5.16 MB Restarting services immediately frees up memory, but slowly over time the memory usage increases(about 24 hours to crash). The commands: # sync # echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches Will free al memory correct. I could just create a cronjob but it seems the wrong way around to me. I can't seem to pinpoint the cause. Any advices, references or tips are highly appreciated!     I've installed FF 3.6.3 on a multi-user system with the German language; however I'ld like to have everything in English (interface, etc.) for my user without installing a separate version of FF in english. I've found the setting general.useragent.locale and an extesion, Quick locale switcher, but I don't actually understand where to get the locale from (en_US in my case, I guess). I found pointers directing me to the offical FTP release server with the hint to download the appropriate locale XPI, e.g. from http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.3/win32/en-US/ , however there's none.

  • Transferring Postfix install to new computer

    I have postfix installed on one computer, with DKIM and SPF working properly. What I'd like to do is start using a different computer instead, with the minimal amount of fuss. Mail servers have a way of baffling me, but I know there are things with cryptography going on here that I don't fully understand (and I don't really care to - I figured it out when I set up the last computer about a year ago, and am happy not to delve into it again). Right now, I'm working on the early steps of this process -- installing postfix on the new machine, and getting it going. Are there specific steps I could take to move the correct configs and key files and such to the new computer?

I purchased an SSD to run as a the root drive - I'd like to enable TRIM on it but the only documentation I can find on it is that it can be enabled using newfs or tunefs. Is there a way to specify flags to newfs during the installation process, and if not, am I going to run into TRIM-related issues if I run tunefs after installation is complete?

  • Wordpress 3 multi-site install

    Hello, Trying to figure out if this is possible... My company has a cms product that was written in Java and we decided to use Wordpress to run blogs for our clients. Obviously, Wordpress does not run on tomcat(at least not by default) so we installed Pound(http://www.apsis.ch/pound/) on our server and have setup any Apache and Tomcat on different ports. When "/blog/" is requested, the request is directed to Apache. This works fine but we would like to use Wordpress multi site so that we can manage all the blogs from a single interface. We would also like the url for every site to be "/blog/" example: http://www.site1.com/blog/ http://www.site2.com/blog/ I'm thinking it would have to be done with apache??? Is it even possible?     We have an application we have developed, it gets deployed via an MSI I built. The MSI has been used in many locations, on many different builds. On one customers site, on occasion we are seeing some odd occurrences of data from the registry going missing. The 'data' from some select registry keys disappears and we have little idea why. One interesting point is that the MSI installer for our application has been seen in passive mode during OS load / load of our application on stat-up. The MSI loads a progress bar then disappears, following this our application loads up. It has been noted that following this the data disappears from our registry. However I can't say these two events are absolutely linked, it could have been missing before this event. What causes the MSI for an application to launch way after initial installation. How can it be prevented (correctly)

Well ok, but when i try to look in the browser to a repertory i don't have access .Apache send me the error : Forbidden You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/ on this server.     When I run the installer for both taglocity 2 and 3, during the installation I get the following error: Error 1001: Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorException: Configuration system failed to initalize. When I try to continue with the installation by clicking OK, a dialog appears with the title ADX Loader with the message: The system cannot find the file specified. Clicking OK causes the installation to roll back. I’m using Outlook 2007 on Windows XP.

    Hi, My hierarchy ask me to setup a production Windows server 2008 virtual machine (HyperV) with SQL 2000 Standard Ed. installed on it. I can't find on the net much information about the relative "compatibility" of SQL2000 on WinSrv2008. Of course I found some obscure answers like : "it's impossible, it's not supported, don't do it".   • Is it possible to re-create the Windows 8.1 install image after the upgrade

    I have downloaded and installed the Windows 8.1 upgrade from the Windows store. The hardware was a 64-bit Toshiba P50 laptop. I need to upgrade a second P50 and wish to do so without another 3.6Gb download (I tried the instructions here but never got the chance to create the installation media, nor was I asked for a product key). I saw mention on superuser of creating USB rescue media after installation and using that to clone the upgrade onto another machine. Is this likely to be a viable option?
