  • Stop a user directly accesing a page

    I have a page called create.php. It receives post variables and sets up accounts. I don't want that page to be accessible by a user. What's the conventional way of achieving this? I think I remember reading something about including a page with a CONSTANT. If the CONSTANT is not present the page has been accessed directly. I think Wordpress also do it.

  • Switched to xubuntu, unity theme wont go away

    I got fed up with unity and decided to switch to xubuntu, following the instructions on this thread. Almost everything went well, and I'm much happier with the system. but the window borders from the unity theme are still being used, overriding the xubuntu themes. I've uninstalled all the unity stuff that I can find. I have, however, kept compiz for some of its functionality. I note that if I disable the "Window Decoration" plugin the whole border disappears leaving nothing behind. I want to have normal xubuntu borders. (note that stuff like chromium that handles its own borders displays correctly) I'll gladly give more details, or upload screenshots. Just let me know what information would be helpful. I'd also like to limit my RAM usage with it. Are there any settings that can help this? What can be changed in about:config that affects this? I'd also like to know if themes or anything really boost RAM usage, as they are generally very small files to download.   • Apache cyclic redirection problem

    I have an extremely weird problem with one of my sites. I run a number of blogs off a single apache2 server with a shared wordpress install. Each site has a www.domain.com main domain, but a ServerAlias of domain.com. This works fine for all the blogs except one, which instead of redirecting to www.domain.com redirects to domain.com, causing a cyclic redirection. The configuration for each host looks like this: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.domain.com ServerAlias domain.com DocumentRoot "/home/www/www.domain.com" <Directory "/home/www/www.domain.com"> Options MultiViews Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks ExecCGI AllowOverride All Order allow,deny Allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost> As this didn't work, I tried a mod_rewrite rule for it, which still didn't redirect correctly. The weird thing here is that if i rewrite it to redirect to any other domain it will redirect correctly, even to another subdomain. So a rewrite rule for domain.com that redirects to foo.domain.com works, but not to www.domain.com. In the same way, trying to redirec to www.domain.com/foo/ ends me up with a redirection to domain.com/foo/. Even weirder, I tried setting up domain.com as a completely separate virtual host, and ran this php test script as index.php on it: <?php header('Location: http://www.domain.com/' . $_SERVER["request_uri"]); ?> Hitting domain.com still redirects to domain.com! Checking out the headers sent to the server verifies that I get exactly the redirect URL I wanted, except with the "www." stripped. The same script works like a charm if I replace www. with foo or redirect to any other domain. This has now foiled me for a long time. I've diffed the vhosts configs for a working domain and the faulty one, and the only difference is the domain name itself. I've diffed the .htaccess files for both sites, and the only difference is a path related to the sharing of wordpress installation for the blogs: php_value include_path ".:/home/www/www.domain.com/local/:/home/www/www.domain.com/" I searched through everything in /etc (including apache conf) for the domain name of the faulty host and found nothing weird, searched through everything in /etc for one of the working ones to make sure it didn't differ, I even went so far to check on the DNS setup of two domains to make sure there wasn't anything strange going on.     I'm experiencing some strange behavior: I have set the following policies: User Configuration\Administrative templates\Desktop\Active Desktop Enable active desktop [enabled] Active Desktop Wallpaper [set to local path -- quadruple checked; path is correct] Allow only bitmap wallpaper [disabled] gpupdate /force, log out, log back in, and the background is just black.     If I go to Sound Recording Devices and it says "No audio devices are installed" If I click to set up a microphone I get an error "Wizard could not launch, No audio input device found, make sure your audio hardware is working properly and check your audio configuration in the Audio Devices and Sound Themes control panel. Where can I get an audio input device? I just want something so I can actually use the microphone on my headset. This is ridiculous. I have tried to look for any file but I simply cannot find a way to add an audio input device... I really do not want to format my computer just for this problem but I am starting to feel like that is the only option I have. I have the latest chipsets

How can I do that. I tried to make use of this software called Nlite. But when I tested the iso file using virtual box. The virtual box said that there's a certain file that cannot be copied. And by the way, before I customized the original iso image of windows xp sp3, it doesn't have the file copying problem that I mentioned above.

  • Gitweb showing opposite colors for added and removed text

    Hi, I have installed gitweb in our servers. And it started showing the branches and the commit diffs. But the syntax highlighting is opposite particularly for added and removed text. Supposed added text should be in green and removed text should be red. But I am seeing an opposite one. I can hack gitweb.css to get my job done. But felt like knowing why such issue is happening? And what might be the proper fix. (if any one knows good themes for gitweb? please mention)

    Having recently upgraded to Windows 8, my script to retrieve the current desktop wallpaper image has broken. For Windows 7, How could I find out the path to the current desktop image?, this works great. However, that registry key now always contains C:\Windows\web\wallpaper\Windows\img0.jpg What is the new registry key used for Windows 8? I've found two possible solutions. Firstly, this key contains what looks like a Base64 encoded path: HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/Wallpapers/Images/ID2 And then there is the "custom theme properties file" which also contains a "[SlideShow]" section which looks like Base64: C:\Users\Scott\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\Custom.theme

  • Cannot move Google Chrome tabs to different monitor in ubuntu

    When I use Chrome in Windows, I can grab a tab and drag it over to my second monitor and it will automatically maximize. In ubuntu, when I try to do the same, the tab will snap back to my primary monitor and maximize there. There is a related bug report for Chromium that is labeled "fixed" here, but when I try using Chromium instead of Chrome, I get the same behavior (not what I called fixed). So far the only other thing I've tried is changing themes, resetting Chrome's settings to default and tested Chromium as I pointed out above. I've also tried installing Chrome from a live Linux disc, and the behavior is still the same. The issue does not occur with Firefox, but I need to use Chrome for work-related reasons, so simply switching isn't really an option personally (though it is a viable workaround). I'm using Chrome 30 and ubuntu 13.04. Does anyone have any solutions?

    just testing PCLinuxOS Phoenix XFCE Edition 2011-07 which I would like to install on my grandpa's PC instead older PCLOS 2009 with KDE3 (which is almost impossible to upgrade). The PC is relatively older one (Sempron 2200+ CPU, MSI K7N2GM2 board with integrated GeForce 440MX series graphics, 1GB RAM and 80GB IDE HDD) and I thought that it is too weak for KDE4. I already used Xfce in the past (Sam Linux 2006 and 2007), but in new Xfce4 I am not able to somehow change the windows color scheme and the windows decorations - the settings manager offers me switching between preinstalled themes but it is possible to modify them with some GUI?

  • OS X Terminal using default ANSI colours for every theme

    For some reason, every theme I palette I've had installed for the OS X Terminal.app has reverted to using the default ANSI colours. The themes have been working fine up until this point and I can't seem to determine what could have caused them to revert in this way. For reference, my standard Solarized Dark colour scheme should look like this … … but it currently looks like this: A quick look in the preferences panel shows that all the colours are correct save for the ANSI colours which have reverted to their defaults. I don't know what other information would be helpful but if you need any other info to help me troubleshoot just ask and I'll update as quickly as I can.

  • Organizing files relationally in Windows 7?

    I just took a new job as a policy analyst, and after even one week keeping track of hundreds of files- lawsuits, legislation, letters, etc- in Windows 7 is proving difficult. In my last job I was a database architect and I helped build Linux based servers to track files among an entire department, however there is no way for me to do that at this time in this job. Is there any way to track files/indices/locations/tags/themes and store them in some kind of RDBMS system, instead of storing the files in folders that only allow for flat and fixed storage? For example, if I have a file that deals with: ELID organization Appeals court John Smith It really is inconvenient to have to decide which one of these tags to create into a folder and place the file into it, when it falls under all the categories. Even if I could place tags the way you can in Stack Exchange on files, it would solve a lot of heart ache.

    Hi All, Here's our scenario: We're running three websites on three web servers hosted on virtual machines running the following: IIS6 Win 2003 Standard Edition Oracle 10g Sitefinity 3.7 We do not have constant control over these servers and something's gone wrong in the interim in that we're getting constant 504 Gateway Timeouts. The other thing that's happening is that if you hit one of the sites, that site is trying to pull themes from one of the sites App_Themes folder in Sitefinity, which of course should not be happening at all. If someone has any ideas on why this should suddenly have started happening I would appreciate it. Many thanks
