  • Using Server side method from Javascript without AJAX

    I have a tricky problem. I am in a situation where I need to use a method defined in a .cs file from a javascript function. The problem is we are using .NET 1.1 and AJAX cannot be used for the application. Also, I will need to pass a string from the javascript to the server side method. The page where I am implementing the javascript is a .as Any ideas? I have tried doing a post back and creating a RaisePostBack event handler method (both in the .aspx page and the .ascx user control) but no luck. It will be greatly appreciated if someone could help me out with the problem.

  • Google App Engine Python: get image upload size server-side

    I am building a Google App Engine App that lets users upload images; I have everything working fine, but I am struggling to find a way to ensure that the user does not upload an image too large (because I am resizing the images, so this crashes my python script). When a user uploads a large image, I get this error RequestTooLargeError: The request to API call images.Transform() was too large. I know that there is a size limitation on what GAE allows for it's image API, I am just trying to find a way to deal with this server side; something along the lines of if (image is too large): inform user else: proceed I haven't had any luck finding the right python code to do this; can anyone help me out?

    I am giving the following method call to my webview client embedded in my layout wv.loadData("<html><body bgcolor=\"Black\"></body></html>","text/html", "utf-8"); when i run this on the device, it shows a white vertical bar on the right side.     I am an inexperienced programmer , completely new to programming for windows . I am writing a little program that I always wanted . Its being written using C# using .net framework. atleast thats what I think I am doing. All the talk about framework and .nets , windows forms , and win32 api has all got me really confused.. :( anyways I have simple Form object. Form f = new Form() ; f.Text = "" ; f.ControlBox =false ; Now How to remove the all the borders on the form except one sides? As in, the side borders should go , but the top border should stay FormBorderStyle doesn't have anything for this Also how do you people solve such problems yourself , without asking ? look at others code ? read a a book ? any particular website ? I have googled , but it didn't turn up nothing.

    I am a quite new to web development and I am trying to do some small form updates without causing a postback. For example making a control visible when a drop down list is changed. I have so far come across some features that achieve this like the RequiredFieldValidator inside an update panels. However, these are specific to a single task. What are my options to achieve these client side updates in Visual Studio? At the moment I don't know any JavaScript, so I would prefer another solution if it exists.

    I have 2 classes: Person and Contact. Person class has a property named ContactNumber which returns the Contact type, and this property is marked as a DataMember for serialization. I have marked Contact type as a DataContract. On the client side I am able to get the values, but when I try to insert a value and then do submit, I get the following exception: Failed to deserialize change-set.     I'm wanting to incorporate HTML5 database storage into my web application to make it online-accessible. I've done lots of development in server-side environments with databases, and we all know that database schema additions and modifications are often necessary. I am wondering what should happen if my application uses an offline database schema, and that schema changes. How do I prevent the application from breaking on the client side? How do I ensure the database is always up to date on the client end? Anyone have any solutions?

    Is there a way to use MapKit in iOS7 to not only get geocoding for an address, but determine what side of the road it is on? I'm not trying to build a full function navigation app, but similar to navigation apps that tell you things like "Your destination is in 100 feet on the right", I'd like to be able to obtain this information. Does MapKit give one a way to do this? Do I need to adopt routing privileges to access such, or is this just not available in the SDK period? If not available in the iOS7 SDK, knowing what options exist as services, would be a helpful pointer.

Connection strings are stored as plain text right now, but as configuration file is not in the public/shared folder we supposed that workstation security itself is enough. What are the ways to improve connection strings security further? It is a big step forward to encrypt password and keep a decryption key on the same workstation?     I have a Treeview (bog standard ASP.Net Treeview) that is bound to an Xml source which allows the user to navigate to various parts of our system. Nothing special.... However, I wanted to generate a breadcrumb for use in the main content area on the client side when the user clicks a node in the Treeview control. I know there are mechanisms available for breadcrumb generation (such as site maps) but for various reasons I need to do it when a node is clicked. So far hooking up a click event using the document ready function available as part of jQuery is easy. However, having spent sometime looking I can not see how I navigate back up the tree nodes to get to each parent nodes text value to build the breadcrumb. I have been playing with .parent(), .parents() and .closest() available via jQuery but don't seem to be getting anywhere. Has anyone done anything like this or can anyone provide a better method?   • Can somehow show progress on file upload without using AJAX?

    Let's say that I upload a file using a basic multipart post. The server then receives the request and starts to execute the server side code. Can I somehow in that state start to output the response and after some data is sent start to receive the file? Finally when the file is uploaded I output the rest of the response. If this is possible I can display file upload progress without using ajax? I guess this might depend on what I run server side. But let's assume that I have full network control.

    Hi, I have a view that I want to extend on the left side using an animation. All borders but the left one should remain the same, so the x position and the width of the view are changing. I use this code: [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:5.0]; self.frame = CGRectMake(self.frame.origin.x-100, self.frame.origin.y, self.frame.size.width+100, self.frame.size.height); [UIView commitAnimations]; If I run this code, the width of the view is set to the new value immediately and then the view is moved to the new x point, but why?     I am looking for an audio editor that we can use server side (ASP + IIS) We want users to be able to upload an audio file, and then offer a 10 second teaser clip to other users for download. Ideally I would like our application to be able to specify Input and Output Filename, Start and End time (or Duration), and be able to fade-in and fade-out, and equalise the volume. Maybe some audio editors have a batch edit facility, and it would just be a question of installing on the server? I am passing the data to a C# method, through an Ajax request: someObj.AjaxRequest(argsData1 + "|" + argsData2 + "|" + argsData3) Finally, I need to obtain the data in my C# code: string data1 = [JS args.Data1] string data2 = [JS args.Data2] string data3 = [JS args.Data3] My question is what's the best solution for this? As i am concatenating bits of user input, I don't think it's best to use "|" as a delimiter. Also, it's not clear to me how to actually parse the data in my C# code to populate the three variables with the original data.
