    Hi everybody, Here it's my problem I've a list of the following measure : src1 dst2 24th december 2009 src1 dst3 22th december 2009 src1 dst2 18th december 2009 I would like to have just the latest measures with a sql request - 2 first lines in my case because the pairs(src and dst) aren't the same. I try to use DISTINCT but I have just the 2 first columns and I will all columns. I try too GROUP BY but I hadn't success. Anyone can help me ? Thx Narglix

I need to run a report that would return how many articles of each type there is per every day, like this: date | count(type="A") | count(type="B") | count(type="C") ----------------------------------------------------- 2010-01-01 | 2 | 1 | 0 2010-01-02 | 5 | 6 | 7 Currently I am running 3 queries for every type and then manually merging the results select date, count(id) from article where type="A" group by date Is it possible to do this in one query?   • Can ZFS ACL's be used over NFSv3 on host without /etc/group?

    Question at the bottom. Background My server setup is shown below, where I have an LDAP host which have a group called group1 that contains user1, user2. The NAS is FreeBSD 8.3 with ZFS with one zpool and a volume. serv1 gets /etc/passwd and /etc/group from the LDAP host. serv2 gets /etc/passwd from the LDAP host and /etc/group is local and read only. Hence it doesn't not know anything about which groups the LDAP have. Both servers connect to the NAS with NFS 3. What I would like to achieve I would like to be able to create/modify groups in LDAP to allow/deny users read/write access to NFS 3 shared directories on the NAS. Example: group1 should have read/write to /zfs/vol1/project1 and nothing more. Question The problem is that serv2 doesn't have a LDAP controlled /etc/group file. So the only way I can think of to solve this is to use ZFS permissions with inheritance, but I can't figure out how and what the permissions I shall set.   • Calculating average (AVG) and grouping by week on large data set takes too long

    I'm getting average prices by week on 7 million rows, it's taking around 30 seconds to get the job done. This is the simple query: SELECT AVG(price) as price, yearWEEK(FROM_UNIXTIME(timelog)) as week from pricehistory where timelog > $range and product_id = $id GROUP BY week The only week that actually gets data changed and is worth averaging every time is always the last one, so this calculation for the whole period is a waste of resources. I just wanted to know if mysql has a tool to help out on this.

EntityModelXXX x = new EntityModelXXX(); // create an object 'e' here x.AddToEvents(e); produces an error : The EntitySet name 'EntityModelXXX.Events' could not be found. It doesn't seem to find the set .. why?

    Hi, I am creating a project using Entity Frameworks 4 and self tracking entities. I want to be able to either get the data from a sql server 2008 database or from sql server compact database (with the switch being in the config file). I am using the repository pattern and I will have the self tracking entities sitting in a separate assembly. Do I need two edmx files? If so, how do I generate only one set of STE's in the separate assembly? Also do I need to generate two context classes as well? I am unsure of the plumbing for all this. Can anyone help? Darren I forgot to add that the two databases will be identical and that the compact version is for offline usage.

So my question is simple, are WCF Data Services designed to be used via clients? Or has anyone ever heard of someone using them on the server side? Simple scenario a general layered architecture using BO business objects (parenthesis indicate what is being passed between layers) (XML) WCF Service - (BO)Business Logic - (BO) Dao - Entity Framework or using data services it would be where DS BO are modeled business entities to be used in data service. (XML) WCF Service -(BO) Business Logic - (BO) WCF Data Service - (DS BO)Server I can't see a use for the later, unless there are going to be a lot of cases people would be accessing your data via your Data Service Layer vs the Service layer?     I am using VS2008. I have a project connect with a database and the connection string is read from App.config via ConfigurationManager. We are using L2E. Now I added a helper project, AndeDataViewer, to have a simple UI to display data from the database for testing/verification purpose. I don't want to create another set of Entity Data Model in the helper project. I just added all related files as a link in the new helper project. When I compile, I got the following error: Error 15 The name 'ConfigurationManager' does not exist in the current context C:\workspace\SystemSoftware\SystemSoftware\src\systeminfo\RuntimeInfo.cs 24 40 AndeDataViewer I think I may need to add another project setting/config related file's link to the helper project from the main project? There is no App.config file in the new helper project. But it looks I cannot add that file's link to the helper project. Any ideas?

So we only have Users, PrivilegeGroups and rdPrivileges entities. PrivilegeGroups and rdPrivileges are many to many relationship. What I need to do is retrieve all code from rdPrivileges table based on a passed in userId. How can I do it?     Hello, all! I have a WPF view that displays a Shipment entity. I have a textblock that contains an asterisk which will alert a user that the record is changed but unsaved. I originally hoped to bind the visibility of this (with converter) to the Shipment.EntityState property. If value = EntityState.Modified Then Return Visibility.Visible Else Return Visibility.Collapsed End If The property gets updated just fine, but the view is ignorant of the change. What I need to know is, how can I get the UI to receive notification of the property change. If this cannot be done, is there a good way of writing my own IsDirty property that handles editing retractions (i.e. if I change the value of a property, then change it back to it's original it does not get counted as an edit, and state remains Unchanged). Any help, as always, will be greatly appreciated. Cory
