  I have a bunch of music files on a NTFS partition mounted on linux that have filenames with unicode characters. I'm having trouble writing a script to rename the files so that all of the file names use only ASCII characters. I think that using the iconv command should work, but I'm having trouble escaping the characters for the mv command.

  I have a situation where I need to extract dates from the file names whose general pattern is [filename_]YYYYMMDD[.fileExtension] e.g. "xxx_20100326.xls" or x2v_20100326.csv The below program does the work //Number of charecter in the substring is set to 8 //since the length of YYYYMMDD is 8 public static string ExtractDatesFromFileNames(string fileName) { return fileName.Substring(fileName.IndexOf("_") + 1, 8); } Is there any better option of achieving the same?   Hi there, i run a C++ app from objective-c I can successfully symbolicate my function names using Shark profiler but not with the Object Allocations instrument.à In the detailed pane, i only see my C++ app name with the hexadecimal value for my C++ functions. I tried to do a "File/Re-Symbolicate Document", selecting my app folder containing both my app and my Dsym file but nothing change. Any clues?   Given the following function: def foo(a, b, c): pass How would one obtain a list/tuple/dict/etc of the arguments passed in? Specifically, I'm looking for Python's version of JavaScript's arguments keyword or PHP's func_get_args() method. What I'm not looking for is a solution using *args or **kwargs; I need to specify the argument names in the function definition (to ensure they're being passed in) but within the function I want to work with them in a list- or dict-style structure.

  Hi all: So in our server there are folders being generated with random names (such as "7nxxd", "tpy16q"). Inside each of these is the same subdirectory structure: <randomfilename>/.tld_cache/WEB-INF/tld/ c.tld/ fn.tld/ spring-form.tld/ fmt.tld/ spring.tld/ tiles-jsp.tld/ Each of these directories has 2 files: crc.ser and des.ser. Why are these files being created? Is there a way to specify the directory that they get written to besides the random name?

  PostgreSQL has allowed me to name a column "campaign_$". I like the name because it's short and to the point, and other potential names like "campaign_receipts" seem longer and less clear. BUT, I wonder if I'll eventually regret putting a $ symbol in a column name, either in PHP or in some other distant part of the architecture. Should I just stick to letters and underscores? Thanks!

  Hello, I am trying to set up a list of file names for a parameter to SHFileOperation. I want to be able to concatenate a file name onto the char array, but i dont want to get rid of the terminating character. for example, I want this: C:\...\0E:\...\0F:\...\0\0 when i use strcat(), it overwrites the null, so it looks like C:\...E:\...F:\...0\ Is there any easy way to do this? or am i going to have to code a new strcat for myself?
