• Java NoClassDefFoundError when calling own class from instrumented method

  Hello, I am working on a kit of simple Java agents to help me (and hopefully others) troubleshoot Java applications. One of the agents I would like to create instruments the JComponent.getToolTipText() method to quickly identify any GUI class by just hovering the mouse cursor over it. You can find the code of my transformer and the rest of the project here: http://sfn.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/sfn/core/src/main/java/org/leplus/sfn/transformer/JComponentTransformer.java?view=markup I launch my test GUI with the agent attached as follow: $ java -javaagent:target/jars/sfn-0.1-agent.jar=JComponent -cp lib/jars/bcel-5.2.jar:target/jars/sfn-0.1-test.jar:target/jars/sfn-0.1-agent.jar org.leplus.sfn.test.Main sfn-0.1-agent.jar contains the org.leplus.sfn.transformer.JComponentTransformer class. sfn-0.1-test.jar contains the org.leplus.sfn.test.Main class. Here is what the application prints when I launch it and I put the mouse over it: Loading agent: JComponent Instrumentation ready! Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/leplus/sfn/tracer/ComponentTracer at javax.swing.JComponent.getToolTipText(JComponent.java) at javax.swing.ToolTipManager$insideTimerAction.actionPerformed(ToolTipManager.java:662) ... What is surprising to me is that if I change my transformer to call any class from the JRE, it works. But it doesn't work when I call my own class org.leplus.sfn.tracer.ComponentTracer. My first guess was a classpath issue but the ComponentTracer is both in the classpath and in the agent's jar. So I am lost. If any of you see where I am missing something. Cheers, Tom

• UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum not working in iOS 4?

  Ive been using this function: (http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/uikit/reference/UIKitFunctionReference/Reference/reference.html#//apple_ref/c/func/UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum) ...to save a uiimage to the users photo album and it works great on everything except a 4.0 simulator, dont have a device to test on so it may be boned there as well. ive also tried it in both the latest xcode (3.2.3 gm seed) and a previous build of 3.2.3. can anyone confirm that this is still function is still "functional" in iOS 4. the documentation gives no indication that it would be removed and I havent seen anything in searches related to it. • Java: What are the various available security settings for applets

  I have an applet that throws this exception when trying to communicate with the server (running on localhost). This problem is limited to Applets only - a POJO client is able to communicate with the exact same server without any problem. Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-1" java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net .SocketPermission 127.0.0.1:9999 connect,resolve) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:323) My applet.policy file's contents is: grant { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; My question is what are the other places where I need to modify my security settings to grant an Applet more security settings? Thank you. EDIT: Further investigation has lead me to find that this problem only occurs on some machines - but not others. So it could be a machine level (global) setting that is causing this, rather than a application-specific setting such as the one in the applet.policy file. EDIT: Another SO question: Socket connection to originating server of an unsigned Java applet This seems to describe the exact same problem, and Tom Hawtin - tackline 's answer provides the reason why (a security patch released that disallows applets from connecting to localhost). Bearing this in mind, how do I grant the applet the security settings such that in can indeed run on my machine. Also why does it run as-is on other machines but not mine?

• django app using amazon aws s3 storage in stead of DB?

  new to python here so bear with me ... i'm looking at django for a rapid prototype to a photo sharing app with an amazon aws s3 storage back end. however, as far as i can tell, django is tailored toward the typical database MVC type of pattern. is there a way to for example provide a custom django model implementation that talks to s3 in stead of a DB? a custom DB engine? would either of these be practical, or am i looking in the wrong direction? thanks.

• Trying to resize an NSImage which turns into NSData

  I have an NSImage which I am trying to resize like so; NSImage *capturePreviewFill = [[NSImage alloc] initWithData:previewData]; NSSize newSize; newSize.height = 160; newSize.width = 120; [capturePreviewFill setScalesWhenResized:YES]; [capturePreviewFill setSize:newSize]; NSData *resizedPreviewData = [capturePreviewFill TIFFRepresentation]; resizedCaptureImageBitmapRep = [[NSBitmapImageRep alloc] initWithData:resizedPreviewData]; [saveData writeToFile:@"/Users/ricky/Desktop/Photo.jpg" atomically:YES]; My first issue is that my image gets squashed when I try to resize it and don't conform to the aspect ratio. I read that using -setScalesWhenResized would resolve this problem but it didn't. My second issue is that when I try to write the image to a file, the image isn't actually resized at all.   I have somewhat of a strange question that is not really technical, but I do hope to collect meaningful advice. I'm building a large web application, basically a photo sharing community site. As part of this site, logged-in users can go to their profile, from which they can see their own things (images, comments, votes) as well as edit their details and preferences. Users can also see profiles of others users (their images, comments, votes), but of course not edit their details. The question I have is simple but it keeps bothering me: What to call the personal links and content of a user? Should they be named "Your": Your images Your profile ... ...or "My": My images My profile ...or perhaps named, even if you're logged in: Fledder's images Fledder's profile As unimportant as it may sounds, I'm really looking for advice in this area. I'm particularly interested in any standards, why an option is preferred, and in which contexts it is preferred.

  I updated to the version 3.0.0.3. Dragged the new ActiveRecord directory in VS08, and added the newer dll. I'm not sure whats going on yet. When I try to compile the project I get that error. My SVN server just lost my old version, so I'll have to download the older Subsonic version and see if that fixes the problem. I have no clue what I did wrong in the configuration as I updated to 3.0.0.3. (still a new users so I couldn't post a photo, but here a link to the error) link text

• checkins/recent not returning comments or even counts of comments

  My application has been using the checkins/recent endpoint to show where all the current users friends are currently at and I had included a button the user could press to comment on a checkin. The button used to have the comment count on it until recently. It seems the checkins/recent endpoint no longer returns comments or even a comment count for those checkins. I would have to query each checkin in order to get the comment count which adds to the data usage not to mention API usage counts. Is there another way to do this that I'm not seeing? Could you please at least put the comment count back? You have the photo information, why not comments? Thanks

• Problem with apostrophes and other special characters when using aspell in windows

  Hi there, We seem to be having a problem with the spell checker on our content management system where it marks the ve part of We’ve as a misspelling. The spellchecker uses aspell which is called from a script on the server which executes the cmd.exe and uses it to pipe a file into aspell (it's a long winded way I know, but our server side programming langauge (ColdFusion) doesn't support writing to stdin for executables). Aspell is called by executing: c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /c type d:\path_to_file\file.txt | "C:\Program Files\Aspell\bin\aspell" --lang=en -a Where file.txt contains the text to be spelled e.g. ^Oh have We’ve (the carat is added to prevent piping problems I believe). Aspell then output: @(#) International Ispell Version 3.1.20 (but really Aspell 0.50.3) * * * & ve 62 12: vie, voe, V, v, veg, vet, Be, Ce, be, Ev, E, e, vex, VA, VI, Va, Vi, vi, we, VD, VF, VG, VJ, VP, VT, Vt, vb, vs, DE, De, Fe, GE, Ge, He, IE, Le, ME, Me, NE, Ne, OE, PE, Re, SE, Se, Te, Xe, he, me, re, ye, Ave, Eve, Ive, ave, eve, VAR, var, veer, vier, view, vow However, we have a dev site, with the same version of Aspell, and when the same file is used it outputs with no misspellings. • WPF - Drag from withing DataTemplate

  I have a ListBox displaying employees with a DataTemplate - it looks very similar to this screenshot. I want to be able to click on the employee photo, drag it and drop it somewhere out of the ListBox. How can I do that? I am not sure how to capture the PreviewMouseLeftButtonDown event of the Image, since it's inside the DataTemplate. Edit: The DataTemplate lives in a separate assembly and the drag/drop logic needs to be in the Window that has the ListBox. Edit2: I am thinking that the right way of doing this is using commands, am I right? Thanks!

• Find/Replace but Increment Value

  Hello, I have an .HTML file that has many photos attached to it for displaying a photo gallery. I'm replacing old photos with new ones, and I'm thinking there must be a more intelligent way than simply copying and pasting repetitive file names. I would love to be able to replace and increment a file name on each replace, starting at a base file name of my choosing. For example... ...images/69thStreet010.jpg ...images/69thStreet011.jpg ...images/69thStreet012.jpg Basically performing a CTRL+F and REPLACE '69thStreet010.jpg' with... ...images/xyz001.jpg ...images/xyz002.jpg ...images/xyz003.jpg And so on until I want it to stop. • Django resizing an image pre save using PIL

  Ugh, I hate having to ask a question on such a common feature, but. . . I'm using an ImageField in a form to upload a photo to S3. I want to resize the image before it is uploaded to S3. I'm trying to use PIL to test the dimensions and resize if necessary. The Image.open() part is throwing me though. It wants a filepath, and the ImageField from the form is only returning the actual file and filename. How can I resize the image before it's saved to S3? Before we get to this point, I'm not using sorl because I believe sorl is compatible with models using ImageFields. But the model associated with the saved S3 images holds just the url of the image on S3 as opposed to using ImageFields.

• How to do iPad Photos app pinch to expand

  I don't think this has been asked before on this site, but I might be wrong. Does anyone know the basics of how to get that whole effect with the iPad Photos app? Basically, pinching a stack of photos lets you have a "peek" at the photos in that stack, which expands based on the distance between your 2 fingers in the pinch, then fully completing the outwards pinch gesture opens the photos in the stack in a new view. See this video to get what I mean. I know of at least one third party app that uses the same method as the iPad Photo app, so I know it's possible to do. I'm guessing I would do something with UIPinchGestureRecognizer but I'm not sure exactly how to proceed.

I have a DropDownList on one of my Razor Views, and I wish to display a list of Full Names, for example Tom Jones Michael Jackson James Brown In my Controller I retrieve a List of User Objects, then select the FirstName and LastName of each User, and pass the data to a SelectList. • How2 display Image from DB in datagrid?

  Hope it's not yet been answered, but I've googled for quite a long time, and I've not been able to get it working. In brief, I've a SL4 page with a DataGrid filled accordingly to parameters passed from the previous page, so I fill the context in code, with a "RIA" query (w/parameters as well). So far, so good. I get the XAML declared columns as expected but the Photo templated column, which holds just an image control. I think I can use the LoadingRow event, but can some1 give me some code on how to get my goal (image is in in the context from DB)? Thanks in advance

  I am developing a module where i am using rest service to get data. i am not getting how to store JSON using Jackson and store it which has Queryparam also. Any help is really appreciated as I am new to this.I am trying to do server side filtering in extjs infinte grid which is sending the below request to rest service. when the page load first time, it sends http://myhost/mycontext/rest/populateGrid?_dc=9999999999999&page=1&start=0&limit=500 when you select filter on name and place, it sends http://myhost/mycontext/rest/populateGrid?_dc=9999999999999&filter=[{"type":"string","value":"Tom","field":"name"},{"type":"string","value":"London","field":"Location"}]&page=1&start=0&limit=500 I am trying to save this in POJO and then sending this to database to retrieve data.
