• Backup IMAP mail, then access via IMAP again

  I am looking for a tool to backup an entire IMAP account and then expose that backup (read-only) via IMAP again. This would be perfect for backing up email from any provider, and allowing the backup to be accessed from any mail client even years after closing the account. I suspect this could be achieved using a full blown IMAP server by configuring it to mirror some other server; but I am hoping for a simpler solution.

If our main ISP Backbone provider have no anti-DDoS mechanism, means that there is no point we get the Arbor Pravail? • Windows 7 search not finding files

  Can anyone please explain this quirk in Windows 7 search (not a big fan of it - preferred XP method or least both). With Outlook, you sometimes have to find and delete your OST file. It resides in the user's profile folder. How come searching the entire C: drive for *.ost files works - they are in c:\Users\rob.nicholson\appdata somewhere but starting the search from c:\Users\rob.nicholson fails to find the files??? • Removing Windows 2003 Server and Domain from Network

  I have a Windows-2003-Server with five computers (Windows XP) accessing it using a domain. I would like to remove the server and the domain and go straight to peer to peer (file sharing via a NAS). We are moving our email to an Exchange Hosting Provider. We no longer need people to log in from different computers and have their desktops available from any computer on the network (however, I do want to get those files off of this setup). Any suggestions?

• All the Gear and No Idea: Suggestions for re-designing my home/office/entertainment network

  Help/ Advice/ Suggestions please: I have a load of kit that I love but which currently operate in disconnected, sometimes counter-productive way. Because I never really had a masterplan I just added these things one after another and connected them up in ad hoc ways. Since I bought my Macbook I've found I spend much less time on the MacPro that was until then my main machine. Perversely, as my job involves writing .Net software, I spend a lot of Mac time actually inside a Windows 7 VM. I stream media from the HP box to the PS3 and thus to the TV, but its not without its limitations/annoyances. We listen to each other's iTunes libraries but the music files are all over the place and it would be good to know they were all safely in one location (and fully backed up). I need to come up with a strategy that will allow me to use all the kit for work, play (recording live music, making tunes, iMovie work), pushing/streaming media to the TV and sharing files with my other half (she uses a Windows laptop and her iPod touch). Ideally I'd like to be able to work on any of the machines and have a shared homedrive that was visible to all machines so all my current files were synced up wherever i was. It would be great if I could access everything securely and quickly over the web. I'd also like to be able to set up a background backup process. The kit list thus far: Apple MacPro 8GB/3x250GB RAID0 + 1TB Apple MacBook Pro 13" 8GB/250GB - I spend a lot of my work time on a Windows 7 VM on this. Crappy Acer laptop (for children's use - iPlayer, watching movies/tv files) HP Proliant Server 4GB/80GB+160GB+300GB Sun Ultra 10 2 x 80GB (old, but in top-notch condition) PS3 160GB iPod Classic 2 x 8GB iPod Touch Observations: Part of the problem is our dual use of Windows and OS X - we can't go for a pure NT style roaming profile. Because the server is also used for hosting test/beta applications and a SQL Server db, it can't be dedicated to file serving. The two Macs really could do with sharing a roaming profile or similar. I'd love to be able to do something useful with the Ultra 10. My other half has been trying to throw it away for over five years now and regularly ask what function it serves in my study :-( I've got no shortage of 500GB external USB hard drives iMovie files are very large and ideally would be processed on a RAID system. Apple's TimeMachine isn't so great. If anyone could suggest all or part of a setup that would fulfil some of my requirements I'd be very grateful. I am willing to consider purchasing one or two more bits of kit (an Apple TV and a Squeezebox have been moted by friends) if they will help make efficiencies rather than add to the chaos and confusion. • Strict security and virtual host isolation with Nginx?

  I currently have an Apache web server set up under which each virtual host is isolated using HTTPD-ITK and the AppArmor module. Each virtual host's workers are setuid/setgid by the server and are then placed in an AppArmor profile. I'm looking to use Nginx but I can't find any documentation on setting it up so that rather than the worker processes being shared between all virtual hosts, worker processes are per virtual host (and thus can be setuid / setgid). Is there any way to do this under Nginx?

• Backup the Windows user folder in the cloud?

  As I understand it, Google Drive and Dropbox, the two cloud storage providers I happen to know, can only sync a predefined folder that is created upon installation. I'd be happy to have an automated synchronisation of my folders in the cloud, but I'm not ready to change my habits, and start saving all my documents in the folder imposed by the provider. Is it possible with one of these, or any other you might know, to sync the full Windows user folder instead?

  Hi, since Teamspeak version 3 sends lots of packets per user and our provider is getting problems with his infrastructure above 20.000 packets per second we have to limit it that our servers are not going to be shut down. Red a lot about iptables but was not able to find the right rules. Could you give me an advise how to manage that the server is not going to send more than 19k packets per seconds? • Cant access a remote server due mistake by setting firewall rule

  I need help due a my silly mistake! So for long time i have a dedicate server hosted by register.it Usually i access remotly to this server (Windows 2008 server) by Terminal Server. Today i wanted to block one site that continually send request to my server. So i was adding a new rule in the firewall (the native firewall on windows 2008 server), as i did many time, but this time, probably i was sleeping with my brain i add a general rules that stop everything! So i cant access to the server anymore, as no any users can browse the sites, nothing is working because this rule block everything. I know that is a silly mistake, no need to tell me :) so please what i can do ? The only 1 thing that my provider let me is reboot the server by his control panel, but this not help me in any way because the firewall block me again. i have administrator username and password, so what i really can do ? there are some trick some tecnique, some expert guru that can help me in this very bad situation ? • Cannot SVN checkout when anon-access = none

  When I have anon-access = write Everything works fine. When I change svnserve.conf to: anon-access = none auth-access = write And uncomment password-db and authz-db AND add user in authz with rw AND put username/password in passwd, nothing works. Eclipse keeps giving me a "Cannot map the project with svn provider" error. I have given all the files under conf 777. Any ideas what's wrong?
