• what's the "best" approach to creating the UI of an audio plugin that will be both audio unit and VST for OS X and Windows?

  I'm working on a couple audio plugins. Right now, they are audio units. And while the "DSP" code won't change for the most part between implementations / ports, I'm not sure how to go about the GUI. For instance, I was looking at the Apple-supplied AUs in Lion. Does anyone know how did they go about the UI? Like, are the knobs and controls just subclasses of Cocoa controls? are they using some separate framework or coding these knobs and such from scratch? And then, the plugs I'm working on are going to be available too as VSTs for Windows. I already have them up and running with generic interfaces. But I'm wondering if I should just get over it and recreate all my interfaces with the vstgui code provided by Steinberg or if there's a more practical approach to making the interfaces cross-platform.

  I'm using both the supertab and snipmate plugins. Let's say I'm using snipmate to create an if statement structure. Once I'm done adding statements inside the if-statement, how can I quickly move the cursor after the if-statement. For example: if [ $a = "b" ]; then bla; fi If my cursor is right on the semicolon and I'm in insert mode. What is the fewest number of actions I can take to move the cursor to the line after the 'fi'? If I press tab, supertab just open an autocomplete window. Thanks

• wordpress filters documentation? Trying to understand add_filter()

  I read over the documentation several times and have been having a hard time trying to figure out what is going on with the function. I'm more and more confused after looking at the documentation, looking over the source code as well. add_filter($tag, $hook, $priority, $args); it seems to me the new function extends the parent function. What puzzle's me is what parts of the hook becomes overridden. in some examples in the documentation i see that some variables are replaced with the $args in your new $tag. I almost understood it all here: http://www.andrewnacin.com/2010/05/18/rethinking-template-tags-in-plugins/ but then i couldn't figure out how you pass arguments and which eventually get overriden. thanks in advance.

• Eclipse+Subversive- Multiple src paths in a single project each from a separate parts of a single re

  In a nutshell, I would like to have a single eclipse project with multiple src directories each managed by subversive (or subclipse). If the code base were small, I would use several projects. However, the code base is not small (50+ src paths). Does anyone know how to do this with the Subversion plugins for eclipse? All of the src paths derive from modules that in turn have a common point node in the repository. However, the modules are versioned, so I can’t checkout all of them. It looks as though Subclipse and Subversive do not support multiple src paths. Can anyone confirm this? Solutions?

• How to make WPF app work as a child process in Citrix

  I am working on a 3rd party application that allows plugins to be written in .NET 1.1. I have decided I would like to write my plugin in a seperate process that is called from the .NET 1.1 application (achieved using Process.Start). This is fine- I create a new process that is a WPF app. When I launch this through MSTSC everything works as expected, however when I run the app through Citrix, the WPF child app fails to render correctly, and the mouse position starts going crazy- the child process window is basically not usable. Is there a way to avoid this happening? If I create a seperate WPF application and deploy this through Citrix everything works fine. If I create a child Windows forms app in .NET 3.5, that also works fine.

• Search and highlight - Client vs. Server side?

  Hi everyone, I have an MVC web application that shows ~ 2000 lines "divs", and I want to make the user able to search and highlight the keywords. I tried using jQuery plugins for this but the performance was really bad and IE got almost hung! So, I was wondering if this is the best way to do it? and If am not getting a faster version I'd rather do it on the server "AJAX call" and re-render the whole lines again - this way at least the user won't feel the browser is getting hung! Any recommendations? Thanks!

• Commit SVN working copy into Git repository

  I am currently working on a checked out SVN project along with some plugins for that project. I want to keep all of this work - including the current version of my SVN checkout within a single git repository. I thought I had achieved this by checking in the SVN working copy to git. However, when I did a pull on a new computer the SVN working copy had been corrupted. In particular it seemed that git had not checked it any of the .svn/tmp/ and .svn/props/ folders. I have now made a fresh checkout of the SVN project. Is there a way for me to add the ignored folders to my git repo (git status ignores them even though my .gitignore is empty) or force SVN to regenerate them?

  I'm modifying a dynamically created input element by setting the innerHTML, when I view the element in the DOM Inspector I can see that the values I passed are in the input. However, I can't see it on the page? Is there a refresh() function that I should be calling after setting the value? I have tried innerText, and value and gotten the same results.   I have some legacy python scripts that manage my shell environment for all the programs and plugins I am running on Linux (bash) and windows (cmd.exe). I want to port this to powershell. How do I set environment variables in powershell by calling python script that prints $env:myVar=myvalue and causes my environment variable to persist in the powershell. In Bash I can use a bash function to call my python script which prints export var=value to stdout and the function will set the environment variables in my shell. This will also work in windows cmd shell by calling a .bat file. I cannot figure out how to do this in powershell. • jQuery slider not working in Wordpress plugin

  I've written a plugin for wordpress and I want to use a slider on my page. '/wp-content/plugins/myplugintest/js/wpge_search_results.js', array('jquery'), '1.0'); } then in my own javascript page, I have jQuery(document).ready(function($) { $("#wpge-slider").slider(); }); Everything (to me) looks ok, and the scripts ARE being called in the header. I can see them on the page... yet the slider is not showing. Can anyone see where I'm going wrong?!

  I am writing a Wireshark plugin to dissect a protocol that places multiple application-level packets in a single UDP frame. There is no enclosing protocol that indicates how many packets there are in the frame. So essentially, the payload coming down the wire will look like this: uint64 sequence1 uint64 data1 uint8 flags1 uint64 sequence2 uint64 data2 uint8 flags2 : : : uint64 sequence_n uint64 data_n uint8 flags_n In my server code that actually processes this information, I simply loop through the frame until I reach the end. In looking through the plugins included with the wireshark source code, I didn't see any protocols that did any looping like this. I know other protocols pack multiple payloads per frame. What is the cannonical or standard way to handle protocols like this in a Wireshark dissector?

  I have Javascript that imputes (computes and injects) HTML into my DOM for the Facebook "Like" function. I need to specify a "canonical" URL because the actual URL doesn't reflect all the DOM manipulations that have been made (driven by user activity on the Web "page"). Alas, Facebook's code doesn't use the url I supply but the window.location value (which has #hash aspects that influence the page's presentation, but that aren't accessible to the server). Anyway... why is FB's code ignoring the url I give to it?   Greetings, Because textarea elements do not resize with jquery.touch ( http://plugins.jquery.com/project/touch ), I've put an textarea in a table where the first row allows the user to drag the table around and resize it with the textarea growing/shrinking/moving along. It works well, except that users dont seem to 'get' that they can use the bar to resize/move. I was trying to find some 'grip bar' graphics but google isnt helping me. What is the best way to show users that an element can be moved/resized ? Pointer to graphics ( generators ) would be great. Or, does any one know how to make textarea's movable/resizable ? T.

That doesn't work in iPad using scrollTo or several different jquery plugins, like scrollTo or iScroll. I think I'm having problems because I'm working with an iframe, as I have another html document in it, with its body divided in columns, but I'm just showing the first one. The point of all this is that, after swiping, it should show the next/prev column, and I tried scrolling the iframe window or the inner's html body, which actually works in chrome, but it doesn't in iPad.

• How to create a 'Hot or Not' website

  Hi guys, I'd like to create a website with similar concept as 'Hot or Not' where users need to sign up to the website and then upload photos. Each photo can be given a description and some additional fields. Other users may comment and rate the photo entries. On top of that, users may favourite/bookmark (and remove) any photo entries and they're accessible via their profile page That's generally how the website will be. Can't decide on a CMS to use Somehow I'm at a crossroad here. I've done some research and found that Joomla has an extension that is able to pull this website off but the thing is I'm not that comfortable with using Joomla. I work with WordPress most of the time, but I can't seem to figure out how would I build this website with WordPress. Would using BuddyPress make it work? Would hiring a plugin developer to customize some plugins work? What do you guys think?
