My website crashes Firefox. What do I do?

My website doesn't use Flash or any plugins; just javascript (jQuery, Google Maps). It doesn't crash FF 3.6 all the time, but it usually does after a few minutes. It can happen on lots of different pages. Sometimes it crashes when I'm scrolling the page, sometimes when I'm interacting with a control. Where do I even start debugging? Should I go through the hassle of attaching gdb to Firefox and getting a stack trace, then praying that it sheds some light on the offending code?

I have a element <select name="dropdown" id="dropdown"> <option>Option 1</option> <option>Option 2</option> <option>Option 3</option> <option>Option 4</option> </select> Now if I add a CSS line-height property to the dropdown, it doesn't work. How would I use jQuery to style this? I prefer not to use plugins, because this is the only styling I wish to apply.

Slide through view controllers but not with the UISwipeGestureRecognizer

Here is my issue, i got 5 view controllers and i can switch between them trough swipe with the UISwipeGestureRecognizer class and xcode's storyboard. So this works, but, i dont like the slide effect. I like to make it in a way so you can exactly slide the view to another by dragging it. For example, like this slider in JS: http://dimsemenov.com/plugins/royal-slider/ Can anyone send me in the right direction? I searched on the internet but i cant find any functions or tutorial on how to do this. Thanks in advance! Edit: Im not looking the scroll view. Hi I haved created a portlet through plugins SDK and wanted to import that into the eclipse ,but it did not imported as it is , But after creating the portlet if i give " ant setup-eclipse " then the project get imported into the eclipse .i have searched for this almost 2 days then i found the solution .. How do i know what all the commands i have in ant . like in the API i will have all the methods where i can see there and get on with my coding work ,how with ant ? how do i know wat all the commands i need to implement ? IE sending through multiple unrequested requests for parent URL

We have a rather large/complex web site (so it's not easy to extract portions of it). The problem we're having is that IE6/7/8 (but 6 is the worst) are sending through multiple requests for the parent of a URL (which fails, a different point). As an example, if you visited (dummy domain name obviously): http://www.example.com/view/event/123/456/78 We'd get 8-20 requests for: http://www.example.com/view/event/123/456/ appear in the Apache log. We've tried: Disabling all plugins (including toolbars, Flash, etc) Disabling scripting (e.g. Javascript) And it still sends through at least one erroneous request. We've viewed the requests through ieHttpHeaders so the browser is aware of them (i.e. it's not prefetching by the network's proxy). Any ideas? What can else could cause this?

version control projects in eclipse

Say I have eclipse installed in office and home. Both eclipse are 3.5 but may have slightly difference, like plugins version. I'd like to commit the code to online repo when get off work and then checkout at home. What would be a possible solution? github? sourceforge? Are they free? Would those slightly difference in eclipse cause any problem? Since I might commit whole project folder which consist some configurations. Can the community explain a bit or suggest some keyword? I will look up more online. Thanks.

How to list all items in custom taxonomy with a permanlink in Wordpress

Hi, Not sure how to word this. I've set up a type in Wordpress called Products. I also have two taxonomies linked to Products called Brands and Categories. When you create a product you can set to which Brand and Category the product belong to. It works perfectly when using the type as permalink to list everything within a type http://sitename.com/products but I can't seem to get the taxonomies working in the same way, ie. list all the items within a taxonomy (like an archive, I suppose): http://sitename.com/brands http://sitename.com/categories Is this possible, and if so, what could I possibly be doing wrong? I would try and set up some rewrite rules in functions.php, but I don't know what the query string looks like if you want to list items in a taxonomy, and if this is even possible. If it helps, I'm using the plugins More Types and Ultimate Taxonomy Manager to create the types and taxonomies.

Using locks inside a loop

There are many threads iterating this loop and based on the key they are looking for, a lazy instance is created and returned. lazyObject should not be created more that one time. Although Lazy class is for doing so and despite of the used lock, under high threading I have more than one instance created (I track this with a Interlocked.Increment on a volatile shared int and log it somewhere). The problem is I don't have access to definition of Lazy and MEF defines how the Lazy class create objects. My questions: 1) Why the lock doesn't work ? 2) Should I use an array of locks instead of one lock for performance improvement ?

This method returns false because class_exists return false , it is surely has to do with auto loading ,but confused. help will be appreciated,though I got the feeling that I am looking at wrong place.

Ruby on Rails - Calendar Display

We want to create a calendar view in a room scheduling application. The outcome we want is to have hours open (variable depending on day) across the top of the grid and the names of the rooms down the left side of the grid. The body would be populated with bookings for that day. The visual we're seeking is similar to the "Weekly Builder" plugin for Rails (http://dmix.ca/2009/06/weeklybuilder-a-weekly-calendar-plugin-for-rails/). We've tried using CSS to create variably-sized images, but this isn't working out. Are there any plugins available or other ways anyone can think of to accomplish this kind of visual? Thanks

Cannot debug tests using Resharper

Hi, I'm not able to debug my tests using Resharper-Debug option in my project. I have seen this issue raised by lots of people, but has't come across a solid suggestion which solves my issue. The strange thing is that, if I create a sample project and write a simple unit test, I'm able to debug it without any issues.However when I try to do this in my current project, it simply throws a dialog box saying "Cannot Launch Debugger".I have checked this with my peers, and they does't face this issue :( Also I don't have any issues while running the test. Vim syntax/compile-time error highlighting

Is there a Vim script that periodically tries to compile/interpret the code that I'm working on, and highlights syntax errors? I'd like it to point out that something is wrong between these lines: int a = 42 cout << a << endl; Such a thing would save me loads of time. 404 on custom post types after updating Wordpress to 3.7

Since I updated Wordpress from 3.6 to 3.7, I'm not able to visit the single-pages on my custom post types, then I get a 404 error. I thought this would be a rewrite_rules issue, so I've tried the following: -Go to the Permalink settings, click save (flush rewrites) -Manually deleted the rewrite_rules from the option table in the DB (I was desparate, and it seriously worked for me one time) -Re-check my .htaccess, but this is the exactly same as instructed on the permalink page -switched off the plugins I also tried switching the permalink to the "ugly" url (eg. ?page=35) and check if the articles worked, and they did! So I'm pretty sure it's a permalink issue. Now I rolled back to 3.6 again, but I of course want to upgrade in the near future (security etc.). A remarkable thing was that during the rollback I checked out a single page (notice that I didn't rolled back the database yet, only the files) and surprisingly they worked again. Any suggestions on how to solve this?

I recently started learning and using Bootstrap 3. I figured I would start with something simple- a header and a dropdown bar. I used the code from the Bootstrap website. I started out with the basic Bootstrap template, then added the bootstrap navbar. '/modules/default')); The code above will load all models and forms automatically in modules/default, and now, I have a problem to load forms and models in /modules/admin, Any solutions to solve this problem? jQuery inline text scrolling/rotating/carousel effect

I trying to create an animation with JQuery that scrolls 1 word in a sentence. For example, I am a nice sententce of text with a MAGIC word in it OTHER HIDDEN WORDS After a second or so, MAGIC would move upwards and OTHER would scroll into view. I've tried playing with a few carousel plugins but I can't seem to get the effect working. Some seem to have so many nested divs that they refuse to display inline, others have issues when one word is longer than another. Does anybody know of a plugin that could make this possible? Is this even possible?

Problem installing wordpress child themes.

Hi, I've tried to install either the Fusion or Thematic child themes for my blog. My Wordpress directory is located at myblog/wordpress while my domain is just myblog (example). Everything works fine with both basic themes or the parent Fusion or Thematic themes. When I install a child theme for either framework, I can view the preview and select 'activate.' However, after that my entire site crashes. I can't even view the wordpress admin panel. I've had to restore my database from my hosting provider just to get my blog working. All that I'm able to see is my favicon icon and a blank page. I've tried to deactivate all plugins and this doesn't help either. I really want to use the Hybrid News child template. Any thoughts on what might be happening? thanks so much!

Supporting rotation sensors in Symbian across multiple devices in one executable

I'm puzzling my head as to how some application appear to support the couple of Rotational Sensor APIs for Symbian, specifically the Sensor API and the Sensor Framework (both the 5th ed. and the 3rd ed. FP2 backport). For example, I believe that Gravity will support rotation in N95 and also newer models from the same binary (could be wrong there...). If I use the Sensor Framework then my app will not install on an N95 (it gives me a System Error -1), whereas if I use the Sensor API (RRSensor) then it will only install on an N95 and no other phones. This is most likely due to the available libraries on those devices. I am trying to find some way of abstracting things such that I can use exactly the same binary for all devices. The only alternative I can see is trying to use ECOM plugins and then installing the relevant library using conditionals in my PKG file. Does anyone know of a better/easier way?

Is it good to use JQuery's validation plugin?

Hi all, I am learning JQuery, and I have checked out that JQUery has got a validation plugin. http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/Validation#Validate_forms_like_you.27ve_never_been_validating_before.21 To use it, users have to include another script file in the Head tag in HTML. I am thinking if this will cause any code collisions to the codes in the validation plugin when more and more javascript files are included. Should I use JQuery to write myself new customed functions for checking data input from users or use the JQuery data validation plugin? Please advise.

I need to improve the response time for a Grails application, so I need to use concurrent processing to separate work that can be done after the users web page is refreshed It seems like the Camel and background-thread plugins can do this for me. I tried the Camel way, but get 'Session does not exists' errors, which looks like hibernate can not operate in an Camel acynchonouse call. In the background-thread description they mention that they solved this problem. Can any one tell me which which will be the better choice and which ones plays nicely with Hibernate? I am looking for TDD resources that are specific to Rails. I've seen the Rails Guide: The Basics of Creating a Rails Plugin which really spurred my interest in the topic. I have the Agile Development with Rails book and I see there's some testing-related information there. However, it seems like the author takes you through the steps of building the app, then adds testing afterward. This isn't really Test Driven Development. Ideally, I'd like a book on this, but a collection of other tutorials or articles would be great if such a book doesn't exist. Things I'd like to learn: Primary goal: Best Practices Unit testing How to utilize Fixtures Possibly using existing development data in place of fixtures What's the community standard here?
