  I've installed PostgreSQL and PostGIS, and now I'm trying to follow these instructions: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#spatialdb-template But I keep getting the following error, both in the command prompt and in Cygwin: C:\Users\Home>createdb -E UTF8 template_postgis createdb: could not connect to database postgres: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"? And I know PostgreSQL is running, because I'm using it right now! Installing open source applications can sometimes be so frustrating... I'll be very grateful for your help!

  Hi all!I'll give an example of what I intend to do: I have 2 StackPanels one containing an Ellipse the other one containing nothing; I want to drag the Ellipse from one stack panel to the other . The actual drag & drop is already done and works fine. However I'd like to know how to keep that that Ellipse shape at the tip of my mouse cursor (I've been searching all day and couldn't find anything that helps ) Even an windows forms example would be nice , I'll be able to adapt it :).   I recently used Adobe Acrobat Pro's OCR feature to process a Japanese kanji dictionary. The overall quality of the output is generally quite a bit better than I'd hoped, but word boundaries in the English portions of the text have often been lost. For example, here's one line from my file: softening;weakening(ofthemarket)8 CHANGE [transform] oneselfINTO,takethe form of; disguise oneself I could go around and insert the missing word boundaries everywhere, but this would be adding to what is already a substantial task. I'm hoping that there might exist software which can analyze text like this, where some of the words run together, and split the text on probable word boundaries. Is there such a package? I'm using Emacs, so it'd be extra-sweet if the package in question were already an Emacs package or could be readily integrated into Emacs, so that I could simply put my cursor on a line like the above and repeatedly invoke some command that splits the line on word boundaries in decreasing order of probable correctness.

  I need to create a console application that has a main() function and pop a modeless dialog, so the console can still work in parallel to the modeless dialog (do other work, like communicating with the modeless dialog). Whatever i tried, i could only pop a modal dialog. (where the console is in hold till the modal dialog close itself). When switching to modeless dialog using Create() and ShowWindow() the dialog is displayed without its controls and it freeze / block (you can see the hourglass cursor). 1) i tried to pop the modeless dialog from the main() function 2) i tried to pop the modeless dialog from the InitInstance() of a CWinApp derived class In all cases the modeless dialog freeze / block.   Hi, I'm trying make a query that looks at a single table and looks to see if a student is a team called CMHT and in a medic team - if they are I don't want to see the result. I only want see if there only in CMHT or medic not both. Would the right direction be using sub query to filer it out? I've done a search on NOT IN but how could you get to see check if its in more then 2 teams are not?   Hi, When creating a ContextMenuStrip, there is a huge amount of padding around the contained controls. For example: Me.myMenu = New ContextMenuStrip 'unset all obvious padding settings' Me.myMenu.ShowCheckMargin = False Me.myMenu.ShowImageMargin = False Me.myMenu.Margin = New System.Windows.Forms.Padding(0) Me.myMenu.Padding = New System.Windows.Forms.Padding(0) Dim addButton As New Button addButton.Size = New Size(60, 60) addButton.Text = "Button" Dim addControlHost As New ToolStripControlHost(addButton) Me.myMenu.Items.Add(addcontrolhost) Me.ContextMenuStrip = Me.myMenu This, ideally, would cause a 60x60 button to pop up at the cursor location. What actually pops up is this: The button is there, as expected, but despite there being no margin, no padding, and having set both Show*Margin settings to False, there is a massive border around the Button. I'm probably missing something blindingly obvious, but how can I get rid of all the white bordering, especially that huge right-hand margin?

• Object drag delay issue

  I have this code that drags stuff around perfectly in IE - however in firefox the onmousedown-drag of the object does not immediately drag but shows the no-entry cursor and then after onmouseup the object drags around freely. The object does stop draging on the next onmouseup. The object should only drag in the onmousdown state, while the onmousup call should cancel the drag by making j_OK=0. • Adding an NSTextField as a subview

  I'm trying to add an NSTextField as a subview of a custom view class I have (which subclasses NSView), and then make the text field the first responder. This works fine... the text field shows up and I can start typing in it. However, any mouse events in the text field seem to fall through to its superview. For example, I can't see the mouse cursor when I hover over the text field, and when I click anywhere in the text field, it attempts to resign firstResponder status instead of letting me select text within the text field. I'm not overridding hitTest or anything weird like that, and I only have one window, which is definitely the key window. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! :-)

• Disabling single line copy in Visual Studio

  Is there anyway to disable the rather annoying feature that Visual Studio (2008 in my case) has of copying the line (with text on it) the cursor is on when CTRL-C is pressed and no selection is made? I know of the option to disable copying blank lines. But this is driving me crazy as well. ETA: I'm not looking to customize the keyboard shortcut. ETA-II: I am NOT looking for "Tools-Options-Text Editor-All Languages-Apply cut or copy to blank lines...".

• How do I wrap a selection with an HTML tag in Visual Studio?

  This seems like the most basic question in the world, but damned if I can find an answer. Is there a keyboard shortcut, either native to Visual Studio or through Code Rush or other third-party plug-in, to wrap the current selection with an HTML tag? I'm tired of typing the opening tag, cutting the misplaced closing tag to the clipboard, moving the cursor, and pasting it at the end where it belongs. Update: This is how TextMate handles surrounding a selection with a tag. Frankly, I'm stunned that Visual Studio doesn't seem to have a similar feature. Creating a macro or snippet for every conceivable tag I might want to use seems absurd.

  Hi..i m currently working on visual c++ 2008 express edition.. in my project i have a picturebox which contains an image, now i have to draw a rectangle to enaable the user to select a part of the image..   Hi I am using the AudioRecord class to analize raw pcm bytes as it comes in the mic. So thats working nicely. Now i need convert the pcm bytes into decibel. I have a formula that takes sound presure in Pa into db. db = 20 * log10(Pa/ref Pa) So the question is the bytes i am getting from audiorecorder from the buffer what is it is it amplitude pascal sound pressure or what. I tried to putting the value into te formula but it comes back with very hight db so i do not think its right thanks

  I would like my code to update contact details (like name, phone number, email, organization details, etc) in the android contact book. I was successful in modifying a few (name, phone number and email to be specific) but not all.
