  If this was previously talked about, I'm sorry, I had a hard time searching on this. I am calculating a depreciation rate. One portion of our calculation is 1/life in months. My table stores this data in a decimal field. I tried test = 1 / estimatedLife; but the result of the calculation of test (which is defined as a decimal) is 0. Say the estimated life is 36 months. So 1/36 should equal 0.02777778. Any thoughts of what I am doing wrong? BTW, I changed the test to a double and had the same result.

• Ending php sessions for debugging purposes

  Hi, This might be very easy to do, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Basically, I have a loosely couple web-app written in python and php. The python code uses PHP sessions (generated from the PHP app when the user logs in) to check if the user is logged in/has permission to access the given python resource. My question is this: What is the easiest way to force all active sessions to timeout. I would like to do this for debugging purposes, to test out the python code. I tried changing the session.max_lifetime PHP variable, but that still doesn't guarantee that the session has ended and is removed. I tried just deleting the file, but this seems to cause problems (when i refresh the php page, errors show up in my apache logs and it won't reload quickly) Any ideas?

• Background search for changes in TFS source control

  SourceGear Vault's client app has the ability to background search for changes. This is very useful because at any time I can take a quick peek and see what changes my team members have checked in and that I need to get latest on. This is also helpful for previewing any merges that might be necessary. And on a day to day basis, it helps me get a sense of what parts of the codebase are seeing the most churn. Is there a way to get this same functionality with Team Foundation Server, either with native features or a plugin? I know there is a Compare feature, but it takes way too long to be useful. Unless it could periodically refresh itself like Vault does, but I haven't found a way to do that. Anything new with Visual Studio 2010?

This works as intended. My problem is that I now want to turn this single form into a formset. What I can't figure out is how I can pass the affiliate information to the individual forms when creating the formset. According to the docs to make a formset out of this I need to do something like this: ServiceFormSet = forms.formsets.formset_factory(ServiceForm, extra=3) And then I need to create it like this: formset = ServiceFormSet() Now how can I pass affiliate=request.affiliate to the individual forms this way?

• Play a beep that loop and change the frequency/speed

  Hi all, I am creating an iphone application that use audio. I want to play a beep sound that loop indefinitely. I found an easy way to do that using the upper layer AVAudioPlayer and the numberOfLoops set to "-1". It works fine. But now I want to play this audio and be able to change the rate / speed. It may works like the sound played by a car when approaching an obstacle. At the beginning the beep has a low frequency and this frequency accelerate till reaching a continuous sound biiiiiiiiiiiip ... It seems this is not feasible using the high layer AVAudioPlayer, but even looking at AudioToolBox I found no solution. Does anybody have informations about how to do that? • calling a function or communicating from one browser window to another using Jquery / javascript

  Hello, I am designing a web site that plays music. The music player itself will be in a separate window along with the now playing list. I want to be able to refresh the now playing list when a new song is added to it from the main window. Essentially I need to figure out how to communicate between the two windows. I was only able to find one plugin on line that defines the player page as a child of the main page but then this reference would be lost after the parent page i.e my main page was refreshed. So this was not very useful to me and I'm kinda lost atm. • problem with asf writer

  Im trying to encode raw data(both video frame and audio sample) into .asf file, using asf writer filter in directshow. my filter graph structure: raw_send_filter - asf writer filter raw_send_filter implements CBaseFilter and CBaseOutputPin. It plays a role as source filter which get raw data, then deliver them to ASF writer filter. The process follows these steps: Get deliver buffer (return into "sample") , using the function CBaseOutputPin::GetDeliveryBuffer sample-GetPointer(&buffer); Set time stamp (with frame rate = 30 fps) deliver sample The problem is after encode some raw data, I can not deliver any more. I can encode .avi file with this way, using Avi mux filter. Can u tell me why I can not deliver samples after encoding some? Thanks.

  Hi there, I've got a bunch of products with sizes to ship and I need to find out the cheapest rate. Given a shipment made out of sizes, say [1,3,3,5] I need to decide how to ship - all together or separate. However it's not as simple as [1,3,3,5] or 1 & 3 & 3 & 5, i need all of the possible combinations something like: [ [[1,3,3,5]], ( 1 shipment ) [[1],[3,3,5]], ( 2 shipments ) [[1,3],[3,5]], ( 2 shipments ) [[1,3,3],[5]], ( 2 shipments ) [[1,5],[3,3]], ( 2 shipments ) [[1,3],[3],[5]], ( 3 shipments ) [[1],[3],[3],[5]] ( 4 shipments ) ] ( etc - many more i assume ) I've tried combinations from the facets gem but it's not quite what i'm after, and I'm not sure how else to approach this problem. I understand it probably has a name and a solution if only I knew the name :) I understand there could be a lot of combinations, but the initial array of sizes won't be larger than 7 or so. Am I missing some steps here? I used this tutorial FFmpeg Mac Installation and I got ffmpeg to work using the terminal, however, when I try to encode a movie using php I get an error. • How to show scrollbars in TScrollBox after it has been made visible again?

  Hi, I've ran into one small problem. I am dynamicaly generating some controls and place them on a TScrollbox component. But i noticed that if scrollbox is visible, user can clearly see each of the controls being created and placed. So it looksl ike lots of work is being done and it is slow. I hid the scrollbox and generated all the controls on it, which took much less time and no flickering and alike. But here's the problem. When i unhide the scrollbox, its' scrollbar doesn't appear untill i actually resize the form. (The alignment of scrollbox is alClient) Any ideas on how to fix this? Tried repainting, but it didn't work. Refresh didn't work either. Thank you

• Ooutsourcing design/programming (taxes!)

  Hello, I have a full time job, but I also have some ideas in mind -- and I want to outsource some code development and design to Russia. I have friends there who help me to do that -- they'll do the development, provide me invoice (which is just description of our terms, because we decided on flat rate monthly fee), and I need to wire them money. So, I do not have business entity. If I'll pay them, am I am required to pay taxes? Or do I deduct my business expenses (say $30K/year) from my earnings (say $50K/year), and pay taxes only on what's left ($20K to be precise)? Any rules on that? Am I limited with something here? • AVDs that exist do not get listed in the "Target Tab"

  I am using emulator Android 2.1 with Eclipse. For few days I had the emulator working ... was able to debug... I had 2 AVDs created and was using one of them. Earlier today I had to move my classes to a different package. Ever since I did that the configuration that I had has disappeared . So now I had to create configuration - I select Android Application and then click New - gave it a name TestPrjCfg - when I go to the "Target" tab - I see "No AVD available" but when I click manager I see two AVDs listed. I tired refresh in the "Target" tab - the existing AVDs do not show up. I used the Manager and created a third AVD that did not help either. Please let me know what am I missing here? What should I do so that the existing AVDs showup in the "Target" tab- Thank you for the time and effort abhi

• How to run report in ReportViewer without having to click View Report button?

  I've set up my report with params and it's value. When I run the page, it wants me to click the View Report button, but I need it to just run instead of interacting. Any ideas on this?   Is there any good library for lossless image encoding/decoding that has compression rate more or less similar to PNG but decoding to raw RGB bitmap data would be much faster than PNG? Also alpha transparency is needed, but not essential because, alpha channel could be taken from separate image. Original problem lies in slowness of reading and decoding PNG files on iPhone using standard libraries. Obvious and the simples solution would have been storing raw RGB bitmap data, but then size of unpacked ipa is too large - 4 times larger than PNG files. So, I am trying to find some compromise solution.

• Non-interactive command-line FTP client alternative to weex

  Hi, I'm looking for a good non-interactive, command line FTP client to be run from a Rakefile. Like Weex, but better. Weex has different problems (for me): It stores its config file in my home dir. I want the FTP config to be part of my project and weex doesn't have a --config-file option or something. The behavior of ignoring files seems to be completely buggy. It doesn't remove files which it should, it doesn't let me specify relative paths, even though I do it according to the man page's instructions, etc. I've been struggling with it for an hour now and it is just completely inexplicable. I tried running rsync over FTPFS/FUSE, but that is dead slow because FTP doesn't store mtimes, which makes rsync diff every file. Plus, there are some refresh problems and other bugs that cause access failure (http://bugs.gentoo.org/208168). I'm stuck with FTP, unfortunately. Any help is appreciated.

  I have created a custom control and added a label property to it so at design time we can pick a Label and assign it to that control. so basically I want that if a label is assigned to that control, its text should change as below and also its text should change to bold font, so here is that code: private Label assignedLabel; public Label AssignedLabel { get { return assignedLabel; } set { assignedLabel = value; assignedLabel.Text = @"*" + assignedLabel.Text; assignedLabel.Font = new Font(AssignedLabel.Font, FontStyle.Bold); AssignedLabel.Refresh(); } } the problem is that based on the code above the Font of that assigned label is correctly changing to Bold font, but its Text is not taking affect. why is that happening? how can I fix this issue?

  I am using the free Kendo UI Core Framework. I am looking for a searchable Combobox that fires the sql after inserting, for example, 2 letters. Behind my Listbox there are more than 10000 items and now it takes too much time when I load or refresh the page. Is it possible to trigger the sql query only by user input like the autocomplete widget do? • Prevent IE caching

  I am developing a Java EE web application using Struts. The problem is with Internet Explorer caching. If an user logs out he can access some pages because they are cached and no request is made. If I hit refresh it works fine. Also if an user goes to login page again it won't redirect him because that page is also cached. Two solutions come to my mind: Writing an Interceptor (servlet filter like) to add to response header no-cache etc. Or or put <meta> tags at each page. Which one should I do?
