  • WPF: ContentPresenter changing Foreground unexpectedly depending on where styles are located

    - by VLTII
    Hi, I'm having an issue with the ContentPresenter behaving unexpectedly based on whether the styles are located in the Window.Resources or in a ResourceDictionary. Specifically, I'm setting the Foreground of the default TextBlock to Black, then setting the Foreground value in my default button style to White. If the styles exits on the page like this, they work fine: <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:Microsoft_Windows_Themes="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Windows.Themes;assembly=PresentationFramework.Aero" x:Class="TestBed.MainWindow" x:Name="Window" Title="MainWindow" Width="640" Height="480"> <Window.Resources> <Style TargetType="{x:Type TextBlock}"> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Black" /> </Style> <Style x:Key="ButtonFocusVisual"> <Setter Property="Control.Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate> <Rectangle Stroke="Black" StrokeDashArray="1 2" StrokeThickness="1" Margin="2" SnapsToDevicePixels="true"/> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> <LinearGradientBrush x:Key="ButtonNormalBackground" EndPoint="0,1" StartPoint="0,0"> <GradientStop Color="#F3F3F3" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="#EBEBEB" Offset="0.5"/> <GradientStop Color="#DDDDDD" Offset="0.5"/> <GradientStop Color="#CDCDCD" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="ButtonNormalBorder" Color="#FF707070"/> <Style TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{StaticResource ButtonFocusVisual}"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource ButtonNormalBackground}"/> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource ButtonNormalBorder}"/> <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="1"/> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="White"/> <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/> <Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="1"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome x:Name="Chrome" SnapsToDevicePixels="true" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" RenderDefaulted="{TemplateBinding IsDefaulted}" RenderMouseOver="{TemplateBinding IsMouseOver}" RenderPressed="{TemplateBinding IsPressed}"> <ContentPresenter HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}" RecognizesAccessKey="True"/> </Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsKeyboardFocused" Value="true"> <Setter Property="RenderDefaulted" TargetName="Chrome" Value="true"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="ToggleButton.IsChecked" Value="true"> <Setter Property="RenderPressed" TargetName="Chrome" Value="true"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="false"> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#ADADAD"/> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </Window.Resources> <StackPanel x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <Button Content="Button" /> </StackPanel> </Window> But if I move those same styles over to a ResourceDictionary, the Foreground of the button switches to black. Updated MainWindow: <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:Microsoft_Windows_Themes="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Windows.Themes;assembly=PresentationFramework.Aero" x:Class="TestBed.MainWindow" x:Name="Window" Title="MainWindow" Width="640" Height="480"> <StackPanel x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <Button Content="Button" /> </StackPanel> </Window> ResourceDictionary: <ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:Microsoft_Windows_Themes="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Windows.Themes;assembly=PresentationFramework.Aero" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" mc:Ignorable="d"> <Style TargetType="{x:Type TextBlock}"> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Black" /> </Style> <Style x:Key="ButtonFocusVisual"> <Setter Property="Control.Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate> <Rectangle Stroke="Black" StrokeDashArray="1 2" StrokeThickness="1" Margin="2" SnapsToDevicePixels="true"/> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> <LinearGradientBrush x:Key="ButtonNormalBackground" EndPoint="0,1" StartPoint="0,0"> <GradientStop Color="#F3F3F3" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="#EBEBEB" Offset="0.5"/> <GradientStop Color="#DDDDDD" Offset="0.5"/> <GradientStop Color="#CDCDCD" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="ButtonNormalBorder" Color="#FF707070"/> <Style TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{StaticResource ButtonFocusVisual}"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource ButtonNormalBackground}"/> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource ButtonNormalBorder}"/> <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="1"/> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="White"/> <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/> <Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="1"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome x:Name="Chrome" SnapsToDevicePixels="true" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" RenderDefaulted="{TemplateBinding IsDefaulted}" RenderMouseOver="{TemplateBinding IsMouseOver}" RenderPressed="{TemplateBinding IsPressed}"> <ContentPresenter HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}" RecognizesAccessKey="True"/> </Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsKeyboardFocused" Value="true"> <Setter Property="RenderDefaulted" TargetName="Chrome" Value="true"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="ToggleButton.IsChecked" Value="true"> <Setter Property="RenderPressed" TargetName="Chrome" Value="true"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="false"> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#ADADAD"/> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </ResourceDictionary> And my App.xaml because someone will ask for it: <Application xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="TestBed.App" StartupUri="MainWindow.xaml"> <Application.Resources> <!-- Resources scoped at the Application level should be defined here. --> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="ResourceDictionary.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> </Application> Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

  • Android - Key Dispatching Timed Out

    - by Donal Rafferty
    In my Android application I am getting a very strange crash, when I press a button (Image) on my UI the entire application freezes and after a couple of seconds I getthe dreaded force close dialog appearing. Here is what gets printed in the log: WARN/WindowManager(88): Key dispatching timed out sending to package name/Activity WARN/WindowManager(88): Dispatch state: {{KeyEvent{action=1 code=5 repeat=0 meta=0 scancode=231 mFlags=8} to Window{432bafa0 com.android.launcher/com.android.launcher.Launcher paused=false} @ 1281611789339 lw=Window{432bafa0 com.android.launcher/com.android.launcher.Launcher paused=false} lb=android.os.BinderProxy@431ee8e8 fin=false gfw=true ed=true tts=0 wf=false fp=false mcf=Window{4335fc58 package name/Activity paused=false}}} WARN/WindowManager(88): Current state: {{null to Window{4335fc58 package name/Activity paused=false} @ 1281611821193 lw=Window{4335fc58 package name/Activity paused=false} lb=android.os.BinderProxy@434c9bd0 fin=false gfw=true ed=true tts=0 wf=false fp=false mcf=Window{4335fc58 package name/Activity paused=false}}} INFO/ActivityManager(88): ANR in process: package name (last in package name) INFO/ActivityManager(88): Annotation: keyDispatchingTimedOut INFO/ActivityManager(88): CPU usage: INFO/ActivityManager(88): Load: 5.18 / 5.1 / 4.75 INFO/ActivityManager(88): CPU usage from 7373ms to 1195ms ago: INFO/ActivityManager(88): package name: 6% = 1% user + 5% kernel / faults: 7 minor INFO/ActivityManager(88): system_server: 5% = 4% user + 1% kernel / faults: 27 minor INFO/ActivityManager(88): tiwlan_wifi_wq: 3% = 0% user + 3% kernel INFO/ActivityManager(88): mediaserver: 0% = 0% user + 0% kernel INFO/ActivityManager(88): logcat: 0% = 0% user + 0% kernel INFO/ActivityManager(88): TOTAL: 12% = 5% user + 6% kernel + 0% softirq INFO/ActivityManager(88): Removing old ANR trace file from /data/anr/traces.txt INFO/Process(88): Sending signal. It seems unlikely as several other buttons do the same without issue. How about the native layer? Could some code I've built with the NDK be causing the issue? Any other ideas as to what the cause of the issue might be?

  • How can I get org-mode in stickies?

    - by Mike Dotterer
    I'm an emacs user on OSX (with Aquamacs) and I also like to use Stickies.app. What I would really like is a way to use org-mode functionality inside of stickies, but I would settle for a sticky-like window. What I want: Org-mode keybindings and functionality Separate window/frame with minimum chrome The ability to make the window "Float" on top of other windows.

  • Reuse another ASP.NET session (set Session ID)

    - by queen3
    My problem is that when I open web application from Outlook in a separate IE window, the ASP.NET session is lost. This is (as described in several places) because in-memory cookie is lost. So it goes like this: User works with ASP.NET web application in Outlook, and this stores some info in ASP.NET session User clicks Print to open new IE window with print-ready data The new window has different ASP.NET session ID and can't access old data. I think, maybe, if I pass ASP.NET session ID to new IE window, I can somehow "attach" to that session? Tell ASP.NET that this is the one that I need to be current?

  • Visual Studio Add-in to view open files

    - by pfunk
    I frequently have 10 or more files open in Visual Studio at one time. I am looking for an add-in that will duplicate the functionality of the "Windows" Window, but in a NON-Modal, dockable type window. In other words a window with a list of the files open in the IDE, that I can dock next to the Solution explorer or something, and just click on to switch to that open file (if anyone has ever used Textpad, the Document Selector is exactly what I am talking about). Anyone seen an Add-in like that? Note: I am NOT talking about another Window Layout manager

  • Move Files from a Failing PC with an Ubuntu Live CD

    - by Trevor Bekolay
    You’ve loaded the Ubuntu Live CD to salvage files from a failing system, but where do you store the recovered files? We’ll show you how to store them on external drives, drives on the same PC, a Windows home network, and other locations. We’ve shown you how to recover data like a forensics expert, but you can’t store recovered files back on your failed hard drive! There are lots of ways to transfer the files you access from an Ubuntu Live CD to a place that a stable Windows machine can access them. We’ll go through several methods, starting each section from the Ubuntu desktop – if you don’t yet have an Ubuntu Live CD, follow our guide to creating a bootable USB flash drive, and then our instructions for booting into Ubuntu. If your BIOS doesn’t let you boot using a USB flash drive, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Use a Healthy Hard Drive If your computer has more than one hard drive, or your hard drive is healthy and you’re in Ubuntu for non-recovery reasons, then accessing your hard drive is easy as pie, even if the hard drive is formatted for Windows. To access a hard drive, it must first be mounted. To mount a healthy hard drive, you just have to select it from the Places menu at the top-left of the screen. You will have to identify your hard drive by its size. Clicking on the appropriate hard drive mounts it, and opens it in a file browser. You can now move files to this hard drive by drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, both of which are done the same way they’re done in Windows. Once a hard drive, or other external storage device, is mounted, it will show up in the /media directory. To see a list of currently mounted storage devices, navigate to /media by clicking on File System in a File Browser window, and then double-clicking on the media folder. Right now, our media folder contains links to the hard drive, which Ubuntu has assigned a terribly uninformative label, and the PLoP Boot Manager CD that is currently in the CD-ROM drive. Connect a USB Hard Drive or Flash Drive An external USB hard drive gives you the advantage of portability, and is still large enough to store an entire hard disk dump, if need be. Flash drives are also very quick and easy to connect, though they are limited in how much they can store. When you plug a USB hard drive or flash drive in, Ubuntu should automatically detect it and mount it. It may even open it in a File Browser automatically. Since it’s been mounted, you will also see it show up on the desktop, and in the /media folder. Once it’s been mounted, you can access it and store files on it like you would any other folder in Ubuntu. If, for whatever reason, it doesn’t mount automatically, click on Places in the top-left of your screen and select your USB device. If it does not show up in the Places list, then you may need to format your USB drive. To properly remove the USB drive when you’re done moving files, right click on the desktop icon or the folder in /media and select Safely Remove Drive. If you’re not given that option, then Eject or Unmount will effectively do the same thing. Connect to a Windows PC on your Local Network If you have another PC or a laptop connected through the same router (wired or wireless) then you can transfer files over the network relatively quickly. To do this, we will share one or more folders from the machine booted up with the Ubuntu Live CD over the network, letting our Windows PC grab the files contained in that folder. As an example, we’re going to share a folder on the desktop called ToShare. Right-click on the folder you want to share, and click Sharing Options. A Folder Sharing window will pop up. Check the box labeled Share this folder. A window will pop up about the sharing service. Click the Install service button. Some files will be downloaded, and then installed. When they’re done installing, you’ll be appropriately notified. You will be prompted to restart your session. Don’t worry, this won’t actually log you out, so go ahead and press the Restart session button. The Folder Sharing window returns, with Share this folder now checked. Edit the Share name if you’d like, and add checkmarks in the two checkboxes below the text fields. Click Create Share. Nautilus will ask your permission to add some permissions to the folder you want to share. Allow it to Add the permissions automatically. The folder is now shared, as evidenced by the new arrows above the folder’s icon. At this point, you are done with the Ubuntu machine. Head to your Windows PC, and open up Windows Explorer. Click on Network in the list on the left, and you should see a machine called UBUNTU in the right pane. Note: This example is shown in Windows 7; the same steps should work for Windows XP and Vista, but we have not tested them. Double-click on UBUNTU, and you will see the folder you shared earlier! As well as any other folders you’ve shared from Ubuntu. Double click on the folder you want to access, and from there, you can move the files from the machine booted with Ubuntu to your Windows PC. Upload to an Online Service There are many services online that will allow you to upload files, either temporarily or permanently. As long as you aren’t transferring an entire hard drive, these services should allow you to transfer your important files from the Ubuntu environment to any other machine with Internet access. We recommend compressing the files that you want to move, both to save a little bit of bandwidth, and to save time clicking on files, as uploading a single file will be much less work than a ton of little files. To compress one or more files or folders, select them, and then right-click on one of the members of the group. Click Compress…. Give the compressed file a suitable name, and then select a compression format. We’re using .zip because we can open it anywhere, and the compression rate is acceptable. Click Create and the compressed file will show up in the location selected in the Compress window. Dropbox If you have a Dropbox account, then you can easily upload files from the Ubuntu environment to Dropbox. There is no explicit limit on the size of file that can be uploaded to Dropbox, though a free account begins with a total limit of 2 GB of files in total. Access your account through Firefox, which can be opened by clicking on the Firefox logo to the right of the System menu at the top of the screen. Once into your account, press the Upload button on top of the main file list. Because Flash is not installed in the Live CD environment, you will have to switch to the basic uploader. Click Browse…find your compressed file, and then click Upload file. Depending on the size of the file, this could take some time. However, once the file has been uploaded, it should show up on any computer connected through Dropbox in a matter of minutes. Google Docs Google Docs allows the upload of any type of file – making it an ideal place to upload files that we want to access from another computer. While your total allocation of space varies (mine is around 7.5 GB), there is a per-file maximum of 1 GB. Log into Google Docs, and click on the Upload button at the top left of the page. Click Select files to upload and select your compressed file. For safety’s sake, uncheck the checkbox concerning converting files to Google Docs format, and then click Start upload. Go Online – Through FTP If you have access to an FTP server – perhaps through your web hosting company, or you’ve set up an FTP server on a different machine – you can easily access the FTP server in Ubuntu and transfer files. Just make sure you don’t go over your quota if you have one. You will need to know the address of the FTP server, as well as the login information. Click on Places > Connect to Server… Choose the FTP (with login) Service type, and fill in your information. Adding a bookmark is optional, but recommended. You will be asked for your password. You can choose to remember it until you logout, or indefinitely. You can now browse your FTP server just like any other folder. Drop files into the FTP server and you can retrieve them from any computer with an Internet connection and an FTP client. Conclusion While at first the Ubuntu Live CD environment may seem claustrophobic, it has a wealth of options for connecting to peripheral devices, local computers, and machines on the Internet – and this article has only scratched the surface. • Integration Widget (GWT) with DynamicForm (Smartgwt) - com.google.gwt.user.client.ui.AttachDetachExc

    - by keweishang
    I had this problem when I created a Window (Smartgwt) and put a DynamicForm (Smartgwt) in this Window, In this DynamicForm, I have a CanvasItem (Smartgwt) in which I put a RichTextArea (GWT). And when I press "ESC", I can quit the Window (Smartgwt) without probleme. But when I press "F5" to refresh my application, the browser pops up a exception saying "com.google.gwt.user.client.ui.AttachDetachException". To solve this problem, I do the following: public class MailWindow extends Window { public MailWindow(){ this.addCloseClickHandler(new CloseClickHandler() { public void onCloseClick(CloseClientEvent event) { form.getRichTextArea().removeFromParent(); MailWindow.this.destroy(); } }); } } Which solved my problem! :) Kewei

  • UITabBarController rotation problem with popViewControllerAnimated and selectedIndex (iPhone SDK)

    - by rjobidon
    Hi! This is a very important auto rotate issue and easy to reproduce. My application has a UITabBarController. Each tab is a UINavigationController. Auto rotation is handled with normal calls to shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation and didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation. The interface rotates normally until I call UIViewController.popViewControllerAnimated and change UITabBarController.selectedIndex. Steps to reproduce: Create a demo Tab Bar Application. Add the following code to the App Delegate .h file: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface TestRotationAppDelegate : NSObject { UIWindow *window; UITabBarController *tabBarController; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITabBarController *tabBarController; -(void)doAction; @end // Redefine the interface to cach rotation messages @interface UITabBarController (TestRotation1AppDelegate) @end Add the following code to the App Delegate .m file: #import "TestRotationAppDelegate.h" @implementation TestRotationAppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize tabBarController; -(BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { [window addSubview:tabBarController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } -(BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } -(void)dealloc { [tabBarController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end @implementation UITabBarController (TestRotation1AppDelegate) -(void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Add a third tab and push a view UIViewController *view1 = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; view1.title = @"Third"; UINavigationController *nav = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:view1]; NSMutableArray *array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [array addObjectsFromArray:self.viewControllers]; [array addObject:nav]; self.viewControllers = array; // Push view2 inside the third tab UIViewController *view2 = [[UIViewController alloc] init]; [nav pushViewController:view2 animated:YES]; // Create a button to pop view2 UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; button.frame = CGRectMake(50, 50, 220, 38); [button setTitle:@"Pop this view" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [button addTarget:self action:@selector(doAction) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [view2.view addSubview:button]; } -(void) doAction { // ROTATION PROBLEM BEGINS HERE // Remove one line of code and the problem doesn't occur. [self.selectedViewController popViewControllerAnimated:YES]; self.selectedIndex = 0; } -(BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { return YES; } @end The interface auto rotates normally until you tap the button on tab #3. Your help will be geatly appreciated!

  • Cocoa touch - UIView in Interface Builder

    - by teepusink
    Hi, I've created a UIView (of type ColumnView) in Interface Builder. Is it possible to add that UIView multiple times to my window? I'm trying to create a UIView template that I can add to my window in a couple of places but can't figure out how to do that. I tried referencing the outlet of that UIView to 2 different IBOutlets but when I add the 2 outlets to my window, it's just treated as a single UIView. Need the UIView to be duplicated. Thanks, Tee

  • SQL SERVER – Import CSV into Database – Transferring File Content into a Database Table using CSVexpress

    - by pinaldave
    One of the most common data integration tasks I run into is a desire to move data from a file into a database table.  Generally the user is familiar with his data, the structure of the file, and the database table, but is unfamiliar with data integration tools and therefore views this task as something that is difficult.  What these users really need is a point and click approach that minimizes the learning curve for the data integration tool.  This is what CSVexpress (www.CSVexpress.com) is all about!  It is based on expressor Studio, a data integration tool I’ve been reviewing over the last several months. With CSVexpress, moving data between data sources can be as simple as providing the database connection details, describing the structure of the incoming and outgoing data and then connecting two pre-programmed operators.   There’s no need to learn the intricacies of the data integration tool or to write code.  Let’s look at an example. Suppose I have a comma separated value data file with data similar to the following, which is a listing of terminated employees that includes their hiring and termination date, department, job description, and final salary. EMP_ID,STRT_DATE,END_DATE,JOB_ID,DEPT_ID,SALARY 102,13-JAN-93,24-JUL-98 17:00,Programmer,60,"$85,000" 101,21-SEP-89,27-OCT-93 17:00,Account Representative,110,"$65,000" 103,28-OCT-93,15-MAR-97 17:00,Account Manager,110,"$75,000" 304,17-FEB-96,19-DEC-99 17:00,Marketing,20,"$45,000" 333,24-MAR-98,31-DEC-99 17:00,Data Entry Clerk,50,"$35,000" 100,17-SEP-87,17-JUN-93 17:00,Administrative Assistant,90,"$40,000" 334,24-MAR-98,31-DEC-98 17:00,Sales Representative,80,"$40,000" 400,01-JAN-99,31-DEC-99 17:00,Sales Manager,80,"$55,000" Notice the concise format used for the date values, the fact that the termination date includes both date and time information, and that the salary is clearly identified as money by the dollar sign and digit grouping.  In moving this data to a database table I want to express the dates using a format that includes the century since it’s obvious that this listing could include employees who left the company in both the 20th and 21st centuries, and I want the salary to be stored as a decimal value without the currency symbol and grouping character.  Most data integration tools would require coding within a transformation operation to effect these changes, but not expressor Studio.  Directives for these modifications are included in the description of the incoming data. Besides starting the expressor Studio tool and opening a project, the first step is to create connection artifacts, which describe to expressor where data is stored.  For this example, two connection artifacts are required: a file connection, which encapsulates the file system location of my file; and a database connection, which encapsulates the database connection information.  With expressor Studio, I use wizards to create these artifacts. First click New Connection > File Connection in the Home tab of expressor Studio’s ribbon bar, which starts the File Connection wizard.  In the first window, I enter the path to the directory that contains the input file.  Note that the file connection artifact only specifies the file system location, not the name of the file. Then I click Next and enter a meaningful name for this connection artifact; clicking Finish closes the wizard and saves the artifact. To create the Database Connection artifact, I must know the location of, or instance name, of the target database and have the credentials of an account with sufficient privileges to write to the target table.  To use expressor Studio’s features to the fullest, this account should also have the authority to create a table. I click the New Connection > Database Connection in the Home tab of expressor Studio’s ribbon bar, which starts the Database Connection wizard.  expressor Studio includes high-performance drivers for many relational database management systems, so I can simply make a selection from the “Supplied database drivers” drop down control.  If my desired RDBMS isn’t listed, I can optionally use an existing ODBC DSN by selecting the “Existing DSN” radio button. In the following window, I enter the connection details.  With Microsoft SQL Server, I may choose to use Windows Authentication rather than rather than account credentials.  After clicking Next, I enter a meaningful name for this connection artifact and clicking Finish closes the wizard and saves the artifact. Now I create a schema artifact, which describes the structure of the file data.  When expressor reads a file, all data fields are typed as strings.  In some use cases this may be exactly what is needed and there is no need to edit the schema artifact.  But in this example, editing the schema artifact will be used to specify how the data should be transformed; that is, reformat the dates to include century designations, change the employee and job ID’s to integers, and convert the salary to a decimal value. Again a wizard is used to create the schema artifact.  I click New Schema > Delimited Schema in the Home tab of expressor Studio’s ribbon bar, which starts the Database Connection wizard.  In the first window, I click Get Data from File, which then displays a listing of the file connections in the project.  When I click on the file connection I previously created, a browse window opens to this file system location; I then select the file and click Open, which imports 10 lines from the file into the wizard. I now view the file’s content and confirm that the appropriate delimiter characters are selected in the “Field Delimiter” and “Record Delimiter” drop down controls; then I click Next. Since the input file includes a header row, I can easily indicate that fields in the file should be identified through the corresponding header value by clicking “Set All Names from Selected Row. “ Alternatively, I could enter a different identifier into the Field Details > Name text box.  I click Next and enter a meaningful name for this schema artifact; clicking Finish closes the wizard and saves the artifact. Now I open the schema artifact in the schema editor.  When I first view the schema’s content, I note that the types of all attributes in the Semantic Type (the right-hand panel) are strings and that the attribute names are the same as the field names in the data file.  To change an attribute’s name and type, I highlight the attribute and click Edit in the Attributes grouping on the Schema > Edit tab of the editor’s ribbon bar.  This opens the Edit Attribute window; I can change the attribute name and select the desired type from the “Data type” drop down control.  In this example, I change the name of each attribute to the name of the corresponding database table column (EmployeeID, StartingDate, TerminationDate, JobDescription, DepartmentID, and FinalSalary).  Then for the EmployeeID and DepartmentID attributes, I select Integer as the data type, for the StartingDate and TerminationDate attributes, I select Datetime as the data type, and for the FinalSalary attribute, I select the Decimal type. But I can do much more in the schema editor.  For the datetime attributes, I can set a constraint that ensures that the data adheres to some predetermined specifications; a starting date must be later than January 1, 1980 (the date on which the company began operations) and a termination date must be earlier than 11:59 PM on December 31, 1999.  I simply select the appropriate constraint and enter the value (1980-01-01 00:00 as the starting date and 1999-12-31 11:59 as the termination date). As a last step in setting up these datetime conversions, I edit the mapping, describing the format of each datetime type in the source file. I highlight the mapping line for the StartingDate attribute and click Edit Mapping in the Mappings grouping on the Schema > Edit tab of the editor’s ribbon bar.  This opens the Edit Mapping window in which I either enter, or select, a format that describes how the datetime values are represented in the file.  Note the use of Y01 as the syntax for the year.  This syntax is the indicator to expressor Studio to derive the century by setting any year later than 01 to the 20th century and any year before 01 to the 21st century.  As each datetime value is read from the file, the year values are transformed into century and year values. For the TerminationDate attribute, my format also indicates that the datetime value includes hours and minutes. And now to the Salary attribute. I open its mapping and in the Edit Mapping window select the Currency tab and the “Use currency” check box.  This indicates that the file data will include the dollar sign (or in Europe the Pound or Euro sign), which should be removed. And on the Grouping tab, I select the “Use grouping” checkbox and enter 3 into the “Group size” text box, a comma into the “Grouping character” text box, and a decimal point into the “Decimal separator” character text box. These entries allow the string to be properly converted into a decimal value. By making these entries into the schema that describes my input file, I’ve specified how I want the data transformed prior to writing to the database table and completely removed the requirement for coding within the data integration application itself. Assembling the data integration application is simple.  Onto the canvas I drag the Read File and Write Table operators, connecting the output of the Read File operator to the input of the Write Table operator. Next, I select the Read File operator and its Properties panel opens on the right-hand side of expressor Studio.  For each property, I can select an appropriate entry from the corresponding drop down control.  Clicking on the button to the right of the “File name” text box opens the file system location specified in the file connection artifact, allowing me to select the appropriate input file.  I indicate also that the first row in the file, the header row, should be skipped, and that any record that fails one of the datetime constraints should be skipped. I then select the Write Table operator and in its Properties panel specify the database connection, normal for the “Mode,” and the “Truncate” and “Create Missing Table” options.  If my target table does not yet exist, expressor will create the table using the information encapsulated in the schema artifact assigned to the operator. The last task needed to complete the application is to create the schema artifact used by the Write Table operator.  This is extremely easy as another wizard is capable of using the schema artifact assigned to the Read Table operator to create a schema artifact for the Write Table operator.  In the Write Table Properties panel, I click the drop down control to the right of the “Schema” property and select “New Table Schema from Upstream Output…” from the drop down menu. The wizard first displays the table description and in its second screen asks me to select the database connection artifact that specifies the RDBMS in which the target table will exist.  The wizard then connects to the RDBMS and retrieves a list of database schemas from which I make a selection.  The fourth screen gives me the opportunity to fine tune the table’s description.  In this example, I set the width of the JobDescription column to a maximum of 40 characters and select money as the type of the LastSalary column.  I also provide the name for the table. This completes development of the application.  The entire application was created through the use of wizards and the required data transformations specified through simple constraints and specifications rather than through coding.  To develop this application, I only needed a basic understanding of expressor Studio, a level of expertise that can be gained by working through a few introductory tutorials.  expressor Studio is as close to a point and click data integration tool as one could want and I urge you to try this product if you have a need to move data between files or from files to database tables. Check out CSVexpress in more detail.  It offers a few basic video tutorials and a preview of expressor Studio 3.5, which will support the reading and writing of data into Salesforce.com. • webbrowser control modal dialog

    - by kesavkolla
    I am using WebBrowserControl in winforms to automate a data entry form. This website opens a new dialog window using ShowModalDialog and puts all the form fields in that new dialog window. How can I access that modal dialog window's contents from my winforms code and want to populate fields. When I access the webbrowser's document it shows the main document not the opened dialog window. Is there any way to access the opened dialog's document? I tried to inject javascript to access contents but the javascript is blocked till the modal dialog is open.

  • Javascript onscroll and mouse position

    - by EddyR
    I have a script that runs a addEventListener for onmousemove and onscroll on the document body to get the cursor position. A onmousemove event works fine (client + scroll), however when a onscroll event occurs clientX/Y seems to inherit scrollTop/Left values instead (only scroll). Is there a way around this? clickDocument = (document.documentElement != undefined && document.documentElement.clientHeight != 0) ? document.documentElement : document.body; var posx = 0; var posy = 0; if (e.pageX || e.pageY) { posx = e.pageX; posy = e.pageY; } else if (e.clientX || e.clientY) { posx = e.clientX; posy = e.clientY; } var scrollx = window.pageXOffset == undefined ? clickDocument.scrollLeft : window.pageXOffset; var scrolly = window.pageYOffset == undefined ? clickDocument.scrollTop : window.pageYOffset;

  • WPF MVVM ViewModel constructor designmode

    - by Snake
    Right, I've got a main wpf window: <Window x:Class="NorthwindInterface.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:ViewModels="clr-namespace:NorthwindInterface.ViewModels" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <Window.DataContext> <ViewModels:MainViewModel /> </Window.DataContext> <ListView ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Customers}"> </ListView> </Window> And the MainViewModel is this: class MainViewModel : INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged = delegate { }; public MainViewModel() { Console.WriteLine("test"); using (NorthwindEntities northwindEntities = new NorthwindEntities()) { this.Customers = (from c in northwindEntities.Customers select c).ToList(); } } public List<Customer> Customers { get;private set; } Now the problem is that in designermode I can't see my MainViewModel, it highlights it saying that it can't create an instance of the MainViewModel. It is connecting to a database. That is why (when I comment the code the problem is solved). But I don't want that. Any solutions on best practices around this?

  • Showing login view controller before main tab bar controller

    - by Padawan
    I'm creating an iPad app with a tab bar controller that requires login. So on launch, I want to show a LoginViewController and if login is successful, then show the tab bar controller. This is how I implemented an initial test version (left out some typical header stuff, etc)... AppDelegate.h: @interface AppDelegate_Pad : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate, LoginViewControllerDelegate> { UIWindow *window; UITabBarController *tabBarController; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UITabBarController *tabBarController; @end AppDelegate.m: @implementation AppDelegate_Pad @synthesize window; @synthesize tabBarController; - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { LoginViewController_Pad *lvc = [[LoginViewController_Pad alloc] initWithNibName:@"LoginViewController_Pad" bundle:nil]; lvc.delegate = self; [window addSubview:lvc.view]; //[lvc release]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; return YES; } - (void)loginViewControllerDidFinish:(LoginViewController_Pad *)loginViewController { [window addSubview:tabBarController.view]; } - (void)dealloc {...} @end LoginViewController_Pad.h: @protocol LoginViewControllerDelegate; @interface LoginViewController_Pad : UIViewController { id<LoginViewControllerDelegate> delegate; } @property (nonatomic, assign) id <LoginViewControllerDelegate> delegate; - (IBAction)buttonPressed; @end @protocol LoginViewControllerDelegate -(void)loginViewControllerDidFinish:(LoginViewController_Pad *)loginViewController; @end LoginViewController_Pad.m: @implementation LoginViewController_Pad @synthesize delegate; ... - (IBAction)buttonPressed { [self.view removeFromSuperview]; [self.delegate loginViewControllerDidFinish:self]; } ... @end So the app delegate adds the login view controller's view on launch and waits for login to call "did finish" using a delegate. The login view controller calls removeFromSuperView before it calls didFinish. The app delegate then calls addSubView on the tab bar controller's view. If you made it up to this point, thanks, and I have three questions: MAIN QUESTION: Is this the right way to show a view controller before the app's main tab bar controller is displayed? Even though it seems to work, is it a proper way to do it? If I comment out the "lvc release" in the app delegate then the app crashes with EXC_BAD_ACCESS when the button on the login view controller is pressed. Why? With the "lvc release" commented out everything seems to work but on the debugger console it writes this message when the app delegate calls addSubView for the tab bar controller: Using two-stage rotation animation. To use the smoother single-stage animation, this application must remove two-stage method implementations. What does that mean and do I need to worry about it?

  • OpenGL basics: calling glDrawElements once per object

    - by Bethor
    Hi all, continuing on from my explorations of the basics of OpenGL (see this question), I'm trying to figure out the basic principles of drawing a scene with OpenGL. I am trying to render a simple cube repeated n times in every direction. My method appears to yield terrible performance : 1000 cubes brings performance below 50fps (on a QuadroFX 1800, roughly a GeForce 9600GT). My method for drawing these cubes is as follows: done once: set up a vertex buffer and array buffer containing my cube vertices in model space set up an array buffer indexing the cube for drawing as 12 triangles done for each frame: update uniform values used by the vertex shader to move all cubes at once done for each cube, for each frame: update uniform values used by the vertex shader to move each cube to its position call glDrawElements to draw the positioned cube Is this a sane method ? If not, how does one go about something like this ? I'm guessing I need to minimize calls to glUniform, glDrawElements, or both, but I'm not sure how to do that. Full code for my little test : (depends on gletools and pyglet) I'm aware that my init code (at least) is really ugly; I'm concerned with the rendering code for each frame right now, I'll move to something a little less insane for the creation of the vertex buffers and such later on. import pyglet from pyglet.gl import * from pyglet.window import key from numpy import deg2rad, tan from gletools import ShaderProgram, FragmentShader, VertexShader, GeometryShader vertexData = [-0.5, -0.5, -0.5, 1.0, -0.5, 0.5, -0.5, 1.0, 0.5, -0.5, -0.5, 1.0, 0.5, 0.5, -0.5, 1.0, -0.5, -0.5, 0.5, 1.0, -0.5, 0.5, 0.5, 1.0, 0.5, -0.5, 0.5, 1.0, 0.5, 0.5, 0.5, 1.0] elementArray = [2, 1, 0, 1, 2, 3,## back face 4, 7, 6, 4, 5, 7,## front face 1, 3, 5, 3, 7, 5,## top face 2, 0, 4, 2, 4, 6,## bottom face 1, 5, 4, 0, 1, 4,## left face 6, 7, 3, 6, 3, 2]## right face def toGLArray(input): return (GLfloat*len(input))(*input) def toGLushortArray(input): return (GLushort*len(input))(*input) def initPerspectiveMatrix(aspectRatio = 1.0, fov = 45): frustumScale = 1.0 / tan(deg2rad(fov) / 2.0) fzNear = 0.5 fzFar = 300.0 perspectiveMatrix = [frustumScale*aspectRatio, 0.0 , 0.0 , 0.0 , 0.0 , frustumScale, 0.0 , 0.0 , 0.0 , 0.0 , (fzFar+fzNear)/(fzNear-fzFar) , -1.0, 0.0 , 0.0 , (2*fzFar*fzNear)/(fzNear-fzFar), 0.0 ] return perspectiveMatrix class ModelObject(object): vbo = GLuint() vao = GLuint() eao = GLuint() initDone = False verticesPool = [] indexPool = [] def __init__(self, vertices, indexing): super(ModelObject, self).__init__() if not ModelObject.initDone: glGenVertexArrays(1, ModelObject.vao) glGenBuffers(1, ModelObject.vbo) glGenBuffers(1, ModelObject.eao) glBindVertexArray(ModelObject.vao) initDone = True self.numIndices = len(indexing) self.offsetIntoVerticesPool = len(ModelObject.verticesPool) ModelObject.verticesPool.extend(vertices) self.offsetIntoElementArray = len(ModelObject.indexPool) ModelObject.indexPool.extend(indexing) glBindBuffer(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, ModelObject.vbo) glEnableVertexAttribArray(0) #position glVertexAttribPointer(0, 4, GL_FLOAT, GL_FALSE, 0, 0) glBindBuffer(GL_ELEMENT_ARRAY_BUFFER, ModelObject.eao) glBufferData(GL_ARRAY_BUFFER, len(ModelObject.verticesPool)*4, toGLArray(ModelObject.verticesPool), GL_STREAM_DRAW) glBufferData(GL_ELEMENT_ARRAY_BUFFER, len(ModelObject.indexPool)*2, toGLushortArray(ModelObject.indexPool), GL_STREAM_DRAW) def draw(self): glDrawElements(GL_TRIANGLES, self.numIndices, GL_UNSIGNED_SHORT, self.offsetIntoElementArray) class PositionedObject(object): def __init__(self, mesh, pos, objOffsetUf): super(PositionedObject, self).__init__() self.mesh = mesh self.pos = pos self.objOffsetUf = objOffsetUf def draw(self): glUniform3f(self.objOffsetUf, self.pos[0], self.pos[1], self.pos[2]) self.mesh.draw() w = 800 h = 600 AR = float(h)/float(w) window = pyglet.window.Window(width=w, height=h, vsync=False) window.set_exclusive_mouse(True) pyglet.clock.set_fps_limit(None) ## input forward = [False] left = [False] back = [False] right = [False] up = [False] down = [False] inputs = {key.Z: forward, key.Q: left, key.S: back, key.D: right, key.UP: forward, key.LEFT: left, key.DOWN: back, key.RIGHT: right, key.PAGEUP: up, key.PAGEDOWN: down} ## camera camX = 0.0 camY = 0.0 camZ = -1.0 def simulate(delta): global camZ, camX, camY scale = 10.0 move = scale*delta if forward[0]: camZ += move if back[0]: camZ += -move if left[0]: camX += move if right[0]: camX += -move if up[0]: camY += move if down[0]: camY += -move pyglet.clock.schedule(simulate) @window.event def on_key_press(symbol, modifiers): global forward, back, left, right, up, down if symbol in inputs.keys(): inputs[symbol][0] = True @window.event def on_key_release(symbol, modifiers): global forward, back, left, right, up, down if symbol in inputs.keys(): inputs[symbol][0] = False ## uniforms for shaders camOffsetUf = GLuint() objOffsetUf = GLuint() perspectiveMatrixUf = GLuint() camRotationUf = GLuint() program = ShaderProgram( VertexShader(''' #version 330 layout(location = 0) in vec4 objCoord;   • General Question About WPF Control Behavior and using Invoke

    - by Phil Sandler
    I have been putting off activity on SO because my current reputation is "1337". :) This is a question of "why" and not "how". By default, it seems that WPF does not set focus to the first control in a window when it's opening. In addition, when a textbox gets focus, by default it does not have it's existing text selected. So basically when I open a window, I want focus on the first control of the window, and if that control is a textbox, I want it's existing text (if any) to be selected. I found some tips online to accomplish each of these behaviors, and combined them. The code below, which I placed in the constructor of my window, is what I came up with: Loaded += (sender, e) => { MoveFocus(new TraversalRequest(FocusNavigationDirection.Next)); var textBox = FocusManager.GetFocusedElement(this) as TextBox; if (textBox != null) { Action select = textBox.SelectAll; //for some reason this doesn't work without using invoke. Dispatcher.Invoke(DispatcherPriority.Loaded, select); } }; So, my question. Why does the above not work without using Dispatcher.Invoke? Is something built into the behavior of the window (or textbox) cause the selected text to be de-selected post-loading? Maybe related, maybe not--another example of where I had to use Dispatcher.Invoke to control the behavior of a form: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2602979/wpf-focus-in-tab-control-content-when-new-tab-is-created

  • How do I dynamically create a document for download in Javascript?

    - by Nelson
    I'm writing some Javascript code that generates an XML document in the client (via Google Earth plugin). I'd like the user to be able to click a button on the page and be prompted to save that XML to a new file. If I were generating the XML server-side this would be easy, just make the button open the link. But the XML is generated client-side. I've come up with a couple of hacks that half-work, inspired in part by this StackOverflow question. But neither completely work. Here's a demo HTML with embedded code: <html><head><script> function getData() { return '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><doc>Hello</doc>'; } function dlDataURI() { window.open("data:text/xml;charset=utf-8," + getData()); } function dlWindow() { var w = window.open(); w.document.open(); w.document.write(getData()); w.document.close(); } </script><body> <div onclick="dlDataURI()">Click for Data URL</div> <div onclick="dlWindow()">Click for Window</div> </body></html> The dlDataURI() version works great in Firefox, poorly in Chrome (can't save), and not at all in IE. The Window() version works OK in Firefox and IE, and not well in Chrome (can't save, XML embedded inside HTML). Neither version ever prompts a user download, it always opens a new window trying to display the XML. Is there a good way to do what I want in client side Javascript? I'd like this to work in today's browsers, ideally Firefox, MSIE 8, and Chrome.

  • WPF Application that only has a tray icon

    - by Michael Stum
    I am a total WPF newbie and wonder if anyone could give me some pointers how to write an application that starts minimized to tray. The idea is that it periodically fetches an RSS Feed and creates a Toaster-Popup when there are new feeds. The Application should still have a Main Window (essentially just a list containing all feed entries), but that should be hidden by default. I have started reading about XAML and WPF and I know that the StartupUri in the App.xaml has to point to my main window, but I have no idea what the proper way is to do the SysTray icon and hide the main window (this also means that when the user minimizes the window, it should minimize to tray, not to taskbar). Any hints?
