  Hello all, I hope I can give feedback like this. It may be just me and others may have already suggested this but is there a way to view our recent comments in our account profiles? I mean I can see questions asked, questions answered etc. But there are loads of questions where I add a comment to the question asker and when I leave the site, I either have to remember what the question was to go back and check if anyone has posted anything. Simply, I think having a place where we can view our latest comments if not all our comments in the control panel/user area would be great! Thanks all

• Two asp.net applications to use the same membership tables - specifically user login data

  HI, I have created a asp.net solution with two applications. They bothe use the same database which is setup with .net membership and roles. Application 1 uses the membership for sauthentication to an administration area - this works fine. Application 2 - has a different applicationID to App1. I want to be able to use the existing user account to manage App2's authentication needs. How is this best achieved? Do I just match App2 appliactionID to App1's or is there another way? • HTML overlay height to cover entire visible page

  I have a web page that loads some stuff using AJAX. I want to display an overlay with a loading indicator while the loading is in progress, so that the user cannot interact with most of the page - except the menu at the top. I'm using jQuery and the jQuery BlockUI plugin to do this. I call $(element).block() and it works fine, but the overlay only extends as far down as the current content of my page. As more content is loaded and added to the page the overlay moves down with it and this looks a bit ugly. Ideally I'd like it to cover the entire visible area of the page right from the start. A simple hack for doing this would be to set a large height value for the overlay, like this: $(myElement).block({ overlayCSS: { height: '10000px' } }); ... but this creates a scrollbar! How do I avoid this and make it just the right height to cover the visible page, but not enlarge it?

• How do you implement Software Transactional Memory?

  In terms of actual low level atomic instructions and memory fences (I assume they're used), how do you implement STM? The part that's mysterious to me is that given some arbitrary chunk of code, you need a way to go back afterward and determine if the values used in each step were valid. How do you do that, and how do you do it efficiently? This would also seem to suggest that just like any other 'locking' solution you want to keep your critical sections as small as possible (to decrease the probability of a conflict), am I right? Also, can STM simply detect "another thread entered this area while the computation was executing, therefore the computation is invalid" or can it actually detect whether clobbered values were used (and thus by luck sometimes two threads may execute the same critical section simultaneously without need for rollback)?

• jquery stop image slider when accordian menu is closed

At the moment the page loads a blank picture area and when an accordion menu item is closed it just restarts that menu items picture slider. (So on page load and when all accordions are closed I need it default to an image on the right.) Some of the items only have 1 picture i.e. posture 3 you will notice when you click on it, it shows the image and then goes blank, can it just fade the image in and leave it there if there is only 1 image? • Broadcast-style Bluetooth using Sockets on the iPhone?

  Is there any way to open a broadcast bluetooth socket, take a listen and send replies? I want a proper peer to peer system where I broadcast and listen for broadcasts in an area. That way, variable clients can mingle. Is this possible? My theory is this: If GameKit can sit around wasting 25 seconds of the users time whilst having access to a broadcast socket, can't I? Or, must I be in kernel mode for such access? I'm not really sure where the proper bluetooth headers are as well. Thanks for reading!

  Hi, In my visual studio project (C++), when i copy a method(meth1) of a particular scope say 'scope1' and paste it in the same code area, it is getting pasted in General Scope. i.e I want to add a method into a particular scope but when i try it is getting added in general scope. How can i solve this? For eg: There is an existing method: void add(int a, int b) { .... } This method is in File scope. i.e limited for that file. Now i want to add another method add2 in the same file scope. So I copied the existing add method and pasted it. void add2(int a, int b) { .... } But this method is getting added in the global scope and not in the file scope.

• In Android, how can i allow the user to choose a color between 4 ?

  I'm making an Android App, and i need to put a control that let user choose between 4 different colors. I want to do this with something like radio buttons: the problem is that radiobuttons are round... is there a way to set them looks like square/rect buttons, and assign a color to their inside rect area ? If not, how can i achieve that choose for the user ? I need this because i'm making a Todo/Task android application, and i need the user to choose the priority of a task, between for priority level that are rapresented with a color. So i think to do that by showing 4 buttons, each with a different color associated, and a text inside ("0", "1", "2", "3") Thanks!

• How can I retain carriage returns when I'm encrypting data?

  I have this following setup, a textarea named with some data in it that may have carriage returns and another textarea that has style='display:none' in order to make it hidden as follows: <textarea id="myTextarea" onBlur="encryptMyData()"></textarea> <textarea name="encryptedText" style='display:none'></textarea> the user enters data in the first textarea and when that text area loses focus the 'encryptMyData()' javascript function is calling an ajax call to take whatever the user entered in the first textfield, encrypt it using rijndael, and paste it in the encryptedText textarea so that it is stored in the database later. Now what I need to do is this, find a way to convert the carriage returns before encryption to a tag like so [cr] so that when I retrieve the data, all formatting is retained. Any idea how I do this? I'm using asp.net and c# to perform the encryption.

  Hello, I am looking to give the impression of zooming in from a large image to a detailed area of that image, over time, when the page loads - using javascript (jquery, preferably). I have been given the following flash site as a reference (action happens just after title fades in): http://www.delicatessennyc.com/ Not sure if this is even possible. I know I could switch out the large image for a smaller one - but my boss is hellbent of achieving this flash-type action using javascript. Please note, I've searched the plugins and I've not found anything like what I'm looking for. And I'm so new to this type of coding that cobbling it together from scratch seems daunting.   Respected sir/madam, I want to add multiple jpanels to jpanel.So i added a root panel to jscrollpane.and then added all individual jpanels to this root panel.I made jscrollpane's scrolling policy as needed.i.e HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED,VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED. But the problem is all individual panels are not shown inside root panel. • Dynamically create sprite images for Cocos2d-iPhone

  Hey guys, I'm working on a platformer, and looking for a way to create a sprite for an arbitrarily sized platform. For example, I may know I have a platform that should appear 200 pixels wide by 32 pixels high, and, say, I have a texture of bricks that I can tile to fill that area. I may also want to draw a black border around the platform. Is this possible at all? Anyone have any ideas for how I might go about doing this? I could always try generating the image on the fly and building a sprite with that image, but I sincerely doubt (hope) that this isn't the most efficient way of doing something like this. • Localize node texts in treeview using resource files

  For a project I need a tree view that allows the user to select a module, which then is displayed in a content area. The project relies heavily on localization and this is provided by the resource files. Now I discovered today, that the text that are assigned to preset tree view nodes are not contained in the resource files. So the question is whether there is a way of doing this, short of mapping the elemenst in code. I.e. assigning a name to the node, running over all nodes and pulling the resources from the resouce manager based on the node name. • Is there a Novatel Wireless Modem Emulator or something similar?

  Novatel Wireless provides their NovaCore SDK for developers wishing to interface with their line of modems. I'm currently developing an open source managed wrapper for it, but I'm having difficulties with testing. I own a Novatel MiFi and have mobile broadband service through Sprint, but that can only get me so far. The device is already activated, thus I can't test the network activation features of the NovaCore SDK. There are also certain features only available for HSPA modems, which I am not able to get in my area. Is there an emulator capable of emulating a Novatel Wireless modem so that I can test my library without physical hardware and an actual data connection? If not, do you have any other suggestions that might help in this situation? I've contacted Novatel Wireless via email and their developer forum, but have not received a response. Thanks!

• How do I set the next available custom color in the ColorDialog?

  I'm currently coding in VB.net. A user places the cursor in a table cell and clicks on "Table Background Color" to edit the current background colour. Currently I have been able to detect the current colour (for instance a light blue) and set that colour in the ColorDialog (Colour swatches are correct and RGB values are correct). What I would like to do is enable the user to click on the "Add to Custom Colors" to save the colour. Problem is, it sets the first square in the custom colours area (which happens to already be filled in with another custom colour), rather than finding the next square that is white and set it there instead. Is this possible? If the user selects a new custom colour square when they first load the ColorDialog, the current colour (light blue) disappears and the colour swatches and RGB values are set as white. Thanks

  I followed instructions for mvc validation but I can't manage to solve this problem.... This is linq to sql model: I set Entity namespace to be CMS.Model If I try to declare partial class Article in Portal.Models namespace: public partial class Article { .... } Then, after using Article article somewhere in code I get following error: 'Article' is an ambiguous reference between 'Portal.Models.Article' and 'CMS.Model.Article' Portal is project name and CMS is area.... I followed these instructions I aslo created NerdDinner from scratch and in that example validation works. I can't figure out what am I doing wrong... someone noticed my mistake?   I'm sitting at work, waiting for traffic to die down. The thought occurred to me. I know when I want to go home, why don't I have an app that watches traffic for me? I also know that there are a lot of smart people on stackoverflow. Where can I get live traffic data for the san francisco bay area region? The data source should be timely, accurate, and as high resolution as possible. I would like to build an app on top of a service, rather than watch google maps or watch another website. I would prefer that I not have to scrape the data, but I have been know to do this in the past when no other option exists.

  I'm developing a cms that allows editing everything on the page (generated server-side with a template engine) by just clicking on it — the area turns into input field, textarea or a full-featured tinyMCE editor, Template defines editable elements like "page heading", "copyright footer text", "image", "rich text block" etc. Along with that there's always a flotaing panel with several tabs, some of which contain general settings like page bacground color, font settings etc, but some are context sensitive (e.g., the clicking on "image" editable field triggers to display uploading/cropping/captioning interface in the floating panel). All settings in the panel are either simple inputs or sliders or checkboxes. I'm new to using MVC with javascript, and in fact haven't used it much before. jQuery is used as code library for the project. Should i use JavascriptMVC, SproutCore or anything else? Does any of them allow some kind of sandboxing (within bounds of commmon sense) to allow some javascript code by user-generated skins on my cms? thank you!

  Hi there! I have an issue with the background image of button which is dependent of button state. I have a button inside customized table view cell and i have set different images for button's different states. Please look into the code below. [btnNow setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"now_norm.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [btnNow setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"now_focus.png"] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted]; Whenever i tap on the actual button this works great but if i tap on area outside of button but which is still inside that same cell then this button changes its background image from UIControlStateNormal to UIControlStateHighlighted. If i remove background image from UIControlStateHighlighted state then this issue doesn't exists but i need pressed state of the button. Please help me out. Thanks in advance! Vivek Dandage.

• Scope of the Pages in a Silverlight application

  I have an app built with the Silverlight Navigation Application Template. I have a main form (e.g. MainPage.xaml) and a bunch of Silverlight Pages, which are swapped in and out of the main content area. In the MainPage.xaml, I have a DispatcherTimer which hits some Uri resources, regardless of which page I am on. Every now and then, it will inexplicably stop firing. I have an inkling that it has to do with the scope of various pages. Can pages inside the MainPage.xaml take away the scope from its parent? Or is this something much simpler?

  Hello all, My software has two .EXE files : A.exe and B.exe. After installed on Window 7, the shortcut to A.exe is always shown in the start menu. (I don't know if 'Start menu' is the correct name or not, what I mean is the area above 'All Programs').
