• Ruby Dir.glob works on laptop not on desktop?

  I have a ruby shell script that works perfectly on my laptop, but Dir.glob doesn't seem to work when I try and run it on my desktop. Here is the code: sFileTemplate = File.join("**", sResolutions, "**", "*."+sType) sFiles = Dir.glob(sFileTemplate) Both machines run OSX 10.5 and are running ruby -v 1.9.1. Am I calling glob wrong? • Using pydev with Eclipse on OSX

  I setup PyDev with this path for the python interpreter /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/Python since the one under /usr/bin were alias and Eclipse won't select it. I can run my python script now but cannot run the shell as an external tool. The message I get is variable references empty selection ${resource_loc} Same if I use {container_loc} Any thoughts ? If i write in the shell history !ls it works but when i'm going to create a script it wont work.   I'm using MLDBM to persist some Perl data structures and I'm wondering if there's an alternative to the following: tie %hash, "MLDBM", $dbm_file, O_CREAT | O_RDWR, 0644; Primarily, I'd like to be able to use STDOUT, rather than a known file name. This could then be redirected to a file on the shell-side. I've been searching with keywords like "tie", "DBM" and "filehandle", but the hits tend to talk about tying filehandles to things, as opposed to things to filehandles. Any suggestions?

  Hi folks, I'm currently using os.popen() but have been recommended to use subprocess.popen() instead. Any ideas on how I can integrate this? It would be cool and fun to have a Python shell accessible on a Django app. But I reckon that it might be a bit complex to implement. I guess I would have to retrieve the subprocess, as a new request comes in. Any ideas?

(Obviously a built-in isn't going to save me any time while working in the shell, nor do i suspect there's any difference in accuracy; for scripts i try to use built-ins as often as possible, where the (cumulative) performance gain is often noticeable. • Install python 2.6 in CentOS

  I have a shell that runs CentOS For a project I'm doing I need python 2.5+ but centOS is pretty dependent on 2.4 From what I've read a number of things will break if you upgrade to 2.5 I wan't to install 2.5 separately from 2.4 but I'm not sure how to do it. So far I've downloaded the source tarball, untarred it and did a ./configure --prefix=/opt which is where I want it to end up. can I now just make, make install ? or is there more?

I want to replace this long running script with a program, probably in JAVA, C, or COBOl, that can run on windows or on sun solaris. • C++ not recognizing my class

  I keep getting class undefined error from Visual Studio with my C++ code. My file looks like this: namespace myProject; scope myProject{ class FreeFormWindowsWidgetWindow : public WindowsWidget{ // shell } } But when I put FreeFormWindowsWidgetWindow in the same file as my other classes, it sees it. It doesn't seem to see anything in this file. How can I fix it and keep FreeFormWidgetWindow in its own file?
