  • Ajax "deselects" hyperlink under the mouse cursor.

    I have a page that performs an Ajax request that replaces a div every second. This div also has hyperlinks in it. If the user tries to click one of the hyperlinks, it will work, but if they move the cursor over the link, wait for a second without moving the cursor, the hyperlink no longer has the "hover" pseudostyle and if they click at the wrong time, the link doesn't work. Is there a way to update the div without causing this, or to restore the "mouse over" state of the link?

    I'm storing the page content in the database (both as markup and HTML code) and displaying this content in the view (let's say it's CMS or forum post). The this data have also some links to internal pages existing in sitemap (Zend_Navigation object). It's easy to insert the link in page body just by using <a> tag. But the contents of this inline links does not change when I update the sorce XML for Zend Navigation (url's, attributes, ACL permissions). How do you handle this case? Special markup for the link, converting the link using url view helper? Iterate Zend_Navigation object extracting specific link (one by one)?

    I have a has_many and belongs_to association. class Link < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :categories belongs_to :property end class Property < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :links end In the index and show I have <%= link.property.name %> and it will show the Property that I assigned to the link with the console just fine. I have a problem with figuring out how to show check boxes in the _form that assign a property to the link (a drop down would work as well). It seems everyone who has had this question before has ether a has_many :through or a HABTM relationship and I can't seem to adapt their answers.

    I have an Asp.NET 3.5 application with security/authentication. I have a second application (built using GWT and running on Windows Tomcat) running on a different machine. I need to make the second application available to the user via a link generated from the .NET application. This part is easy, I have constructed the link in the asp.net page and the user can click on it to start working in the GWT/Tomcat session. My question is this... How do I set it up so that the Tomcat/GWT application is Only Accessible via the link in my asp.NET application? I don't want the user to be able to copy the link from my asp.net page and then share that with someone else who is not authenticated within my asp.net application.

    Hi, I am trying to parse an itunes affiliate xml link purely for practise, using NSXMLParser but the link will not parse. The itunes affiliate xml link is this: http://itunes.apple.com/au/rss/topsongs/limit=50/genre=20/xml?partnerId=2003&TD_PARAM=http%3A%2F%2Fclkuk.tradedoubler.com%2Fclick%3Fp%3D23708%26a%3D1904172%26url%3D. it works perfectly in safari on my mac. The normal itunes link I tried parsing: http://itunes.apple.com/%@/rss/%@/limit=50/genre=20/xml works perfectly with the NSXMLParser. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Thanks in advanced.     I have a classifieds website. In every classified, there is a back link which simply takes the browser back one step. This is because when users search classifieds, and click on one to view it, they can easily go back with a link also (instead of only the browser back button). Here is the problem, if the classified is entered directly into the adress bar of a browser, or if somebody bookmarked a classified, then this back-link would take them someplace else... Is there any way of making sure that the previous page is a certain page (index.php in my case)? This way I would only display the back link if the previous page was index.php... Thanks

  • Increment the number of times an article has been read

    I have a situation where I need to increase the number of time article has been read. Once someone opens an article it should be reflected in the database by incrementing number of reads by one. Simple. Sending POST request to the server increments the number of reads by one. The article in question is supplied via URL parameter. Doing it manually by typing the URL in a browser works as expected. So server side is not at fault. My problems start with the javascript side of it or rather jquery. I hook the event to the article link. So every time a user clicks on the article link it increments the number of reads like so: $('#list-articles .article-link').click(function(e){ var oid = $(this).parent().parent().attr('data-oid').toString(); //Get the article id $.post( "/articles/viewed/" + oid ); }); Now this does not work! Number is not increased. I don't prevent default action since I need the link to actually open and display the article. Now if I put an alert right after the post like this: $('#list-articles .article-link').click(function(e){ var oid = $(this).parent().parent().attr('data-oid').toString(); //Get the article id $.post( "/articles/viewed/" + oid ); alert(oid); }); This variant works. After I dismiss the alert window, the number is incremented. Why is this so?? How can I fix this to actually work without the alert event present?

I've tried referencing properties by doing something like nav_item.link as well, but that still does not work. The error I get with my current code is: Symbol as array index By using code like nav_item.link: undefined method `link' for #< Array:0x126970ff0 As this is my first time using HAML, I'm not too sure what I'm doing wrong.

    I have a model "Product" with a "description" field. Now I want to have a link in the index page that when clicked will show all products where the description is blank (empty). In the model I have defined a named_scope like this named_scope :no_description, :conditions => { :description => "" } I have checked that the named_scope works by calling Product.no_description.count on the console. As far as I know, the controller is then supposed to handle the filter request from the link on the "index" action but be able to distinguish it from the default which is view all products. def index @products = Product.all ... My problem is getting the controller handle the different request, what route to setup for the link on the view and the actual link on the view. Hope I explained my problem.

All works fine, but when I try to add a 20px padding to the top of the link (to give it more space for user to click the link), the background image is not moving down. I haven't added any error correction yet either (and some of my variables are vague), but would like to enter a binary say 111111 instead of 1 enter, 1 enter, 1 enter, etc to fill the array. I am open to any technique and other suggestions. Maybe input it as a string and convert it to an int? I will keep researching. Thanks.
