  • Cannot debug views in MVC2 project, getting "The resource cannot be found" error

    - by schefdev
I'm running Visual Studio 2008 sp1 on Win7, with MVC2 RTM installed. I created a new MVC2 project using the wizard and am unable to debug specific pages. With webforms and even MVC1, I was able to sit on a View page, hit F5, and then have the integrated web server in VS2008 start on the page I was working on. Very handy for building up app logic. When I try this now I get a "The resource cannot be found" error page. I retried this just now with a stock new MVC2 Web Application project. Here are the steps I took after creating the new project to reproduce: Open up project settings. Under the Web subtab, set the Start Action to "Current Page". Leave all the other settings as is. Open one of the views up (e.g. Account/Register.aspx) Hit F5 to debug the project Note that the browser window which displays shows the error message "The resource cannot be found". The link I saw in my browser for this run was: http://localhost:49471/Views/Account/Register.aspx I did some googling and found suggestions related to ensuring all HTTP server pieces were installed. I double checked and made sure that "HTTP Errors" and "HTTP Redirection" were both installed. If I leave the project setting as it was originally, set to "Specific Page" with nothing in the text box, then routing works and I always get the default home page. I'm hoping this isn't the only option. Thanks!

  • DomainDataSource DataPager with silverlight 3 DataGrid & .Net RIA Services

    - by Dennis Ward
I have a simple datagrid example with silverlight 3, and am populating it with the .NET ria services using a DomainDataSource along with a DataPager declaratively (nothing in the code-behind), and am experiencing this problem: The LoadSize is 30, and the Page size is 15, and when the page is loaded, the 1st and 2nd page appear correctly, but when I go beyond the 2nd page, nothing shows up in the grid. This used to work in the silverlight 3 beta with the Mix 2009 preview of .NET Ria services, and I've got a really simple example and have verified that the Service on the web project gets called to load a new batch, but the grid doesn't show any data. Can anyone shed any light as to why grid displays data only for the initial load of data and not subsequent batches from the pager? Here's my xaml: <riaControls:DomainDataSource x:Name="ArtistSource" QueryName="GetArtist" AutoLoad="True" LoadSize="30" PageSize="15"> <riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> <domain:AdminContext /> </riaControls:DomainDataSource.DomainContext> </riaControls:DomainDataSource> <data:DataGrid Grid.Row="1" x:Name="ArtistDataGrid" ItemsSource="{Binding Data, ElementName=ArtistSource}"> </data:DataGrid> <StackPanel Grid.Row="2"> <data:DataPager Source="{Binding Data, ElementName=ArtistSource}" /> </StackPanel>

  • Android - Using PreferenceScreen to display and save settings to/from ContentProvider

    - by Donal Rafferty
I have my own custom Content Provider that loads a datasbase which contains the settings information for my application. I load the settings from the ContentProvider on the creation of my Settings activity. My Settings activity is made up of a PreferenceScreen and Dialog based EditText's. The following code shows how I use the preference screen and edit texts. So as you can see from the first image this works and displays the menu with the information underneath. The problem is in image two, when I click on a choice in the menu the dialog pops up but it is empty, I would like to be able to load the data from my content provider into the edit text in the dialog, so in image one it shows "Donal" as the user name so in image two "Donal" should also appear in the edit text in the dialog. I would also like to be able to listen to the OK button in the dialog so when a user changes a setting I can update the data in my content provider. Can anyone help me with what I'm trying to do? Code // Root PreferenceScreen root = getPreferenceManager().createPreferenceScreen(this); // Dialog based preferences PreferenceCategory dialogBasedPrefCat = new PreferenceCategory(this); dialogBasedPrefCat.setTitle(R.string.dialog_based_preferences); root.addPreference(dialogBasedPrefCat); // Edit text preference EditTextPreference editTextPref = new EditTextPreference(this); editTextPref.setDialogTitle(R.string.dialog_title_edittext_preference); editTextPref.setKey("edittext_preference"); editTextPref.setTitle(R.string.title_edittext_preference); editTextPref.setSummary(name); dialogBasedPrefCat.addPreference(editTextPref); Image One Image Two

  • App using MonoTouch Core Graphics mysteriously crashes

    - by Stephen Ashley
My app launches with a view controller and a simple view consisting of a button and a subview. When the user touches the button, the subview is populated with scrollviews that display the column headers, row headers, and cells of a spreadsheet. To draw the cells, I use CGBitmapContext to draw the cells, generate an image, and then put the image into the imageview contained in the scrollview that displays the cells. When I run the app on the iPad, it displays the cells just fine, and the scrollview lets the user scroll around in the spreadsheet without any problems. If the user touches the button a second time, the spreadsheet redraws and continues to work perfectly, If, however, the user touches the button a third time, the app crashes. There is no exception information display in the Application Output window. My first thought was that the successive button pushes were using up all the available memory, so I overrode the DidReceiveMemoryWarning method in the view controller and used a breakpoint to confirm that this method was not getting called. My next thought was that the CGBitmapContext was not getting released and looked for a Monotouch equivalent of Objective C's CGContextRelease() function. The closest I could find was the CGBitmapContext instance method Dispose(), which I called, without solving the problem. In order to free up as much memory as possible (in case I was somehow running out of memory without tripping a warning), I tried forcing garbage collection each time I finished using a CGBitmapContext. This made the problem worse. Now the program would crash moments after displaying the spreadsheet the first time. This caused me to wonder whether the Garbage Collector was somehow collecting something necessary to the continued display of graphics on the screen. I would be grateful for any suggestions on further avenues to investigate for the cause of these crashes. I have included the source code for the SpreadsheetView class. The relevant method is DrawSpreadsheet(), which is called when the button is touched. Thank you for your assistance on this matter. Stephen Ashley public class SpreadsheetView : UIView { public ISpreadsheetMessenger spreadsheetMessenger = null; public UIScrollView cellsScrollView = null; public UIImageView cellsImageView = null; public SpreadsheetView(RectangleF frame) : base() { Frame = frame; • Adding a modal view controller when I press a info button inside a tableviewCell

    - by gvalero87
Hi, Here is a complex question, maybe it's not hard but there are many doubts i have. First let me give you what i have. This is the only place where i've gotten good answers. I have a table view controller with custom cells. In those cells i added a button (info dark one from IB) for each one of the cells. What i would like it's that when I press that button it displays a new view with more information about that cell, different of the view that i get from didSelectRowAtIndexPath. I've read a little bit about Modal View Controller and I think this is a case where I should use it. So here are my questions: How do i make a view controller a modal view controller?. I read that i have to have a delegate. Is there an example of how to create a normal modal view controller. I haven't been able to do so. How can this button know which cell is it from?. What i have right is a subclass tableviewcell with an IBOUTLET to this info button. This is not an important question because i guess i just could add a NSIndexPath attribute. I added an action in my tableviewsubclass that is triggered when the touchDown Event is called. I did this connection through IB. How can I call the modal view controller through here?, and is it even the right place to do this? Thanks

  • Binding TabControl ItemsSource to an ObservableCollection causes content to refresh on focus

    - by Brent
I'm creating an WPF application using the MVVM framework, and I've adopted several features from Josh Smith's article on MVVM here... Most importantly, I'm binding a TabControl to an ObservableCollection of ViewModels. This means that am using a tabbed MDI interface that displays a UserControl as the content of a TabItem. The issue I'm seeing in my application is that when I have several tabs and I flip back and forth between tabs, the content is being refersh each time I change tabs. If you download Josh Smith's source code, you'll see that his app has the same problem. For example, click on the "View All Customers" button and scroll down to the bottom the ListView. Next click on the "Create New Customer" button. When you switch back to the All Customer view you'll notice that the ListView scrolls back to the top. If you switch back to the New Customer tab and place your cursor in one of the TextBoxes, then switch to All Customers tab and back, you'll notice that the cursor is now gone. I imagine that this is because I'm using an ObservableCollection, but I can't be sure. Is there any way to prevent the tab's content from refreshing when it receives the focus?

  • How to get record value from LinqDataSource via Code Behind

    - by rockinthesixstring
I've got a LinqDataSource that retrieves a single record. Protected Sub LinqDataSource1_Selecting(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.LinqDataSourceSelectEventArgs) Handles LinqDataSource1.Selecting Dim BizForSaleDC As New DAL.BizForSaleDataContext e.Result = BizForSaleDC.bt_BizForSale_GetByID(e.WhereParameters("ID")).FirstOrDefault End Sub I'd like to be able to retrieve the values of said DataSource using the Page_Load function. Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Me.Load 'Get the right usercontrol' Dim ctrl As UserControl Select Case DataBinder.Eval(LINQDATASOURCE_SOMETHING.DataItem, "AdType") Case 1 : ctrl = DirectCast(Me.FindControl("Default1"), UserControl) Case 2 : ctrl = DirectCast(Me.FindControl("Default1"), UserControl) Case 3 : ctrl = DirectCast(Me.FindControl("ValuPro1"), UserControl) Case 4 : ctrl = DirectCast(Me.FindControl("ValuPro1"), UserControl) Case Else : ctrl = Nothing End Select 'set the control to visible' ctrl.Visible = True End Sub But obviously the code above doesn't work... I'm just wondering if there's a way to make it work. Here is the full markup <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:LinqDataSource ID="LinqDataSource1" runat="server"> <WhereParameters> <asp:QueryStringParameter ConvertEmptyStringToNull="true" Name="ID" QueryStringField="ID" Type="Int32" /> </WhereParameters> </asp:LinqDataSource> <uc:Default ID="Default1" runat="server" Visible="false" /> <uc:ValuPro ID="ValuPro1" runat="server" Visible="false" /> </form> </body> </html> Basically what happens is the appropriate usercontrol is enabled and that usercontrol inherits the LinqDataSource and displays the appropriate information. EDIT: It's working now with the code below, however, since I'm really not into hitting the database multiple times for the same info, I'd prefer to get the value from the DataSource. 'Query the database' Dim _ID As Integer = Convert.ToInt32(Request.QueryString("ID")) Dim BizForSaleDC As New BizForSaleDataContext Dim results = BizForSaleDC.bt_BizForSale_GetByID(_ID).FirstOrDefault 'Get the right usercontrol' Dim ctrl As UserControl Select Case results.AdType Case 1 : ctrl = DirectCast(Me.FindControl("Default1"), UserControl) Case 2 : ctrl = DirectCast(Me.FindControl("Default1"), UserControl) Case 3 : ctrl = DirectCast(Me.FindControl("ValuPro1"), UserControl) Case 4 : ctrl = DirectCast(Me.FindControl("ValuPro1"), UserControl) Case Else : ctrl = Nothing End Select

  • Why does Adding Core Animation slow down drawing of my NSTableView?

    - by Will Goring
I have a simple App that displays a list of items using NSTableView. There are usually about 15-25 items in the list, and the table has 10 columns, all but one of which are text (the other's an icon.) There are simple data transformers on a couple of the columns. So nothing taxing; you'd expect it to run just fine. And as it stands, it is; the app is responsive and everything draws pretty much instantly. Scrolling, changing column sizes, resizing the window; whatever you do the redraws keep up with the mouse-pointer. Tonight, I thought I'd try adding a little visual flair to the app with Core Animation (which I've never used before,) but I've found that if anything above the NSTableView in the hierarchy is set 'Wants Core Animation Layer,' then the NSTableView redraws go to hell. Scrolling is usually fine, but resizing columns or the window causes it to pick up an effect like texture tearing, where some of the rows have the new size, and some have the old one, and everything flickers horribly. It looks terrible. Basically it looks like what you'd expect if rendering the individual rows or columns was taking a long time. I've put it through Shark and, sure enough, it looks like it's spending most of its time drawing the text in the cells; what I don't understand is why that should take longer when there's a Core Animation layer involved than when there isn't - and quite noticeably longer at that. Has anyone got any ideas? Is there any Core Animation initialisation or config I've missed or something (I've literally just ticked the "Wants Core Animation Layer" box in IB)? Cheers, Will

  • Flash CS3 -- tahoma text loading differently than on client's computer.

    - by codemonkey613
A client has sent me a Flash CS3 website template she was working on. I'm supposed to do some work on it. When I load it, it displays incorrectly. The body type appears incorrectly. It's different then what it appears on her computer. Causing all the body text to overlap each other. She has Windows Vista with Flash CS3. I'm using Windows XP Professional with Flash CS4. When I open the file, it says that 'tahoma' font is missing on my computer. And asks me to select a replacement. Obviously, I have Tahoma on my computer -- everyone does. I even got her to send her version of Tahoma to me from her Windows Font Folder. When I tried to install it, it says "font already installed". So, I pointed it to my Tahoma font as a replacement. This could be the problem. But why does it not recognize my version of tahoma? Anyone know what's going on, or how I can fix it? I'm supposed to be working on this website, but can't proceed because I might be wasting time if it doesn't match up.

  • JQuery, JSF and a4j:commandLink

    - by JQueryNeeded
Hello ppl, I have a problem with using jQuery Dialog and Ajax submit in JSF. I have the following code for displaying Dialog windows: <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(function(){ // Dialog jQuery('#dialog').dialog({ dialogClass: 'alert', autoOpen: false, width: 300, height: 150, modal: true, resizable: false, overlay: { backgroundColor: '#000', opacity: 0.5 }, buttons: { "Ok": function() { jQuery(this).dialog("close"); return true; }, "Cancel": function() { jQuery(this).dialog("close"); return false; } } }); // Dialog Link jQuery('#dialog_link').click(function(){ jQuery('#dialog').dialog('open'); return false; }) .hover( function() { jQuery(this).addClass('ui-hover-state'); }, function() { jQuery(this).removeClass('ui-hover-state'); } ); }); </script> It works as it should - it displays box when link is clicked. Now, I have something like this, for deleting something: <a4j:commandLink actionListener="#some.action" reRender="something" onclick="if(!jQuery('#dialog').dialog('open')){return false}" ok, this commandLink is rendered as follows: <a href="#" id="some:long:id:j_id338" name="formName:something:j_id338" onclick="if(!jQuery('#dialog').dialog('open')){return false};A4J.AJAX.Submit('something:something'); return false;" >drop</a> now, after displaying the dialog box, the A4j.AJAX.Submit(..) is executed, is there anyway, that I can for example, pass the whole A4J.AJAX.Submit(...) to "dialog" and execute it from "ok" option? I simply need to execute submit if and only if user clicks OK. Thank you for help JQ

  • Using android.view.SurfaceView with a camera on part of the screen

    - by oneself
Hi, I trying to put together an Android app that will take a picture and process it in some way. I'd like the layout to be similar to Google Goggles. Meaning, camera preview on the top, and some controls on the bottom using portrait orientation. I've built a first version using code sample from here. This works, but I want to add a button on the bottom. I've modified my main.xml to look as follows: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <TableLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="150dp" android:stretchColumns="1"> <TableRow> <android.view.SurfaceView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/preview" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" /> </TableRow> <Button android:id="@+id/snap" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="Snap" /> <TableRow> </TableRow> </TableLayout> But when I run this code I get an exception: java.lang.RuntimeException: startPreview failed. When I replace the SurfaceView above with something else, e.g. a TextView, that it displays, but in landscape. How can I get a camera preview on part of the screen using portrait view? Thanks

  • Label in PyQt4 GUI not updating with every loop of FOR loop

    - by user297920
I'm having a problem, where I wish to run several command line functions from a python program using a GUI. I don't know if my problem is specific to PyQt4 or if it has to do with my bad use of python code. What I wish to do is have a label on my GUI change its text value to inform the user which command is being executed. My problem however, arises when I run several commands using a for loop. I would like the label to update itself with every loop, however, the program is not updating the GUI label with every loop, instead, it only updates itself once the entire loop is completed, and displays only the last command that was executed. I am using PyQt4 for my GUI environment. And I have established that the text variable for the label is indeed being updated with every loop, but, it is not actually showing up visually in the GUI. Is there a way for me to force the label to update itself? I have tried the update() and repaint() methods within the loop, but they don't make any difference. I would really appreciate any help. Thank you. Ronny. Here is the code I am using: # -*- coding: utf-8 -*- import sys, os from PyQt4 import QtGui, QtCore Gui = QtGui Core = QtCore # ================================================== CREATE WINDOW OBJECT CLASS class Win(Gui.QWidget): def __init__(self, parent = None): Gui.QWidget.__init__(self, parent) # --------------------------------------------------- SETUP PLAY BUTTON self.but1 = Gui.QPushButton("Run Commands",self) self.but1.setGeometry(10,10, 200, 100) # -------------------------------------------------------- SETUP LABELS self.label1 = Gui.QLabel("No Commands running", self) self.label1.move(10, 120) # ------------------------------------------------------- SETUP ACTIONS self.connect(self.but1, Core.SIGNAL("clicked()"), runCommands) # ======================================================= RUN COMMAND FUNCTION def runCommands(): for i in commands: win.label1.setText(i) # Make label display the command being run print win.label1.text() # This shows that the value is actually # changing with every loop, but its just not # being reflected in the GUI label os.system(i) # ======================================================================== MAIN # ------------------------------------------------------ THE TERMINAL COMMANDS com1 = "espeak 'senntence 1'" com2 = "espeak 'senntence 2'" com3 = "espeak 'senntence 3'" com4 = "espeak 'senntence 4'" com5 = "espeak 'senntence 5'" commands = (com1, com2, com3, com4, com5) # --------------------------------------------------- SETUP THE GUI ENVIRONMENT app = Gui.QApplication(sys.argv) win = Win() win.show() sys.exit(app.exec_())

  • SSRS 2008: is it possible to make a report parameter NOT query-based for some linked report?

    - by Stefan Mohr
I suspect the answer is no, but here goes.. I'm using the WebForms Report Viewer on a public-facing website to allow users to report on themselves or their users (if the user is an admin user). A report has a parameter called Users where an admin can pick a user from the list and generate a report from it. Mundane users can also view this report, but I programmatically create a linked report for each user and set the UserID value to their ID so they can only view themselves. This works well except that the UserID parameter is query-based, and not every user is visible in the list using default settings (the user list is based off date range parameters can provide, and only users we consider 'active' during the date range are visible). This is blowing up for mundane users that are not active for the default date range (which is the previous month). I suspect the flow of execution is something like this: Report loads with default parameters The linked report rules are now applied and the value of the UserID is overridden with the ID in the linked report UserID field is now hidden to prevent the user from changing it SSRS can't find the UserID default value in the query results (that I didn't even want it to run) so it displays an error The 'UserID' parameter is missing a value Through some testing I've found a perfect correlation between users not inside the default date range and users who can't view the report. Can anyone suggest a way to make the report usable for those users that aren't in the default list? The reports are created programmatically so I do have a fair bit of control over the situation. I would love to simply be able to mark a parameter in a linked report as no longer being query-based, but those properties are all read-only. I really, really don't want to have to create duplicate reports to accommodate these users but I'm at a bit of a loss right now. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • iTextSharp Use Link Inside PdfPCell

I am able to successfully put a link in the pdf with a friendly name: Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; doc.Add(anchor); However, I cannot get get the anchor to work within a PdfPCell. Here is what I have tried so far: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Anchor(anchor)); That displays the exception: System.ArgumentException: Element not allowed. I also tried: var memberCell = new PdfPCell(); Anchor anchor = new Anchor("Google", linkFont); anchor.Reference = "https://www.google.com"; memberCell.AddElement(new Phrase(anchor)); This does not throw an exception but it isn't a link it is just the word "Google". I am using the newest version of iTextSharp at this time v.(5.4.4.0) Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

  • .htaccess - RewriteRules working, but browser address bar displaying full (unfriendly) URL

    - by axol
Hey there, Haven't been able to find a solution to this around the net or these forums - apologise if I've missed something! My .htaccess RewriteRules are working well - have search-engine and user -friendly links in my web pages, and unfriendly database URLs running hidden in the background. Except when I added a RewriteRule to add "www." to the front of URLs if the user didn't enter it - to ensure only one appears in search engines. Here's what now happening, and I can't figure out why! My friendly URL structure for content is like this, and the database query string uses the first "importantword": www.example.com/importantword-nonimportantword/ .htaccess snippet: Options +FollowSymLinks Options -Indexes RewriteEngine on RewriteOptions MaxRedirects=10 RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^/$ index.php [L] RewriteRule ^(.*)-(.*)/overview/$ detail.php?categoryID=$1 [L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.example.com$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.example.com/$1 [L] What's happening since I added the last 2 lines: CASE 1: user types (or clicks) www.example.com/honda-vehicle/overview/ - Works correctly - They are taken to the correct page and the browser URL bar says: www.example.com/honda-vehicles/overview/ CASE 2: user types example.com - Works correctly - They are taken to www.example.com and the browser URL bar says: www.example.com CASE 3: user types (or clicks) example.com/honda-vehicles/overview/ i.e. without the prefix "www" - Does NOT work correctly - They are taken to the right page, but the browser URL bar displays the unfriendly URL: www.example.com/detail.php?categoryID=honda I figure there's some issue with the order of the RewriteRules, but it's doing my head in trying to logically step through it and figure it out! Any assistance at all or pointers would be most appreciated!

  • Eclipse Helios - Not Stopping at Breakpoints (Help!)

    - by Rylie
Dear Eclipse Expert, I recently upgraded from Eclipse Galileo to Helios. Helios stops at breakpoints ONLY when debugging "as a PHP Script", but not when debugging "as a Web Page". When debugging as a web page, it looks like the correct debug query string to start a debug session is getting tacked on to the url, like so: http://localhost/hello.php?XDEBUG_SESSION_START=ECLIPSE_DBGP &KEY=129798139020511 but elipse does not stop at the breakpoints. It just zooms thru the code and displays the output in the browser. This is my xdebug configuration in php.ini that works for Galileo, but is not working for Helios: (click here to see my entire xdebug config settings) ;extension=xdebug.so <-- is this needed? zend_extension=" /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5.3/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-no n-zts-20090626/xdebug.so " xdebug.remote_enable=on xdebug.remote_autostart=off xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp xdebug.remote_mode=req xdebug.remote_host=127.0.0.1 xdebug.remote_port=9000 xdebug.idekey= ; to enable remote debugging zend_debugger.allow_hosts=127.0.0.1/32 zend_debugger.expose_remotely=always Can you post your xdebug configuration that works for Helios? If possible, can you share the xdebug portion of your phpinfo() output? Would like to compare settings of an xdebug configuration that works on Helios with what I have. Thanks in advance. Rylie

  • Using nested error wrappers with jQuery validate plugin

    - by RyOnLife
I am using the jQuery validate plugin. My error labels are styled like tooltips and take many levels of nested divs in order to create. The plugin has a wrapper option that allows for an element type to be specified as a wrapper for the error message, but it's only wrapped once. Is anyone familiar with how to do nested wrapping? This isn't my exact markup, but as an example: <div class="tooltip"> <div> <div> <span class="error">This field is required.</span> </div> </div> </div> * UPDATE * The response from Chris answers my original question, but creates a new problem. The errors are now being displayed as desired, but the plugin fails to clear them. When a failed validation passes, span.error is set to display:none, but the div.tooltip nested wrapper still displays.

  • iPhone/iPod receive messages from C# tcpip server using CocoaAsyncSocket

    - by SorinA.
Hello, i'm trying to send/receive data over wifi to an iphone/ipodtouch app from a C# tcpip server. for this i used cocoaAsyncSocket from the google project. If i push a button and i send a request from ipod to server it returns the requested data(song title for example)..i want to know every second what song is playng...so from C# server i send at intervals of 1 second messages to my app. In my app in an timer with the interval of 1 second i call the asyncSocket read readDataWithTimeout method. My problem is that after 8-9 seconds that method is not called anymore. The connection to the server is still active and the C# server still sends data.. what i want to do is the following thing: - winamp plays a song - C# server asks winamp what songs is he playing and sends the song title to my app. - iphone app receives the data and displays it i don't know why the readDataWithTimeout method is not called anymore after a short period of time..Maybe because the short time between messages sent by the C# server? Thank you, Sorin

  • iPhone Device 3.1 SDK Breaks vertical alignment of UITableViewCellStyleValue1 textLabel

    - by user171089
Can anyone provide an explanation for the following phenomenon? As of the iPhone Device 3.1 SDK, I've found that if a UITableViewCell is of style UITableViewCellStyleValue1 and its detailTextLabel.text is unassigned, then the textLabel does not display in the center of the cell as would be expected. One notable caveat is that this only happens for me when I'm testing on the Device – the iPhone Simulator 3.1 SDK displays the cells correctly. Also, this is not a problem when using the iPhone Device 3.0 SDK. Below is a simple UITableView subclass implementation that demonstrates the problem. @implementation BuggyTableViewController #pragma mark Table view methods // Customize the number of rows in the table view. - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return 3; } // Customize the appearance of table view cells. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleValue1 reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } switch (indexPath.row) { case 0: cell.textLabel.text = @"detailTextLabel.text unassigned"; break; case 1: cell.textLabel.text = @"detailTextLabel.text = @\"\""; cell.detailTextLabel.text = @""; break; case 2: cell.textLabel.text = @"detailTextLabel.text = @\"A\""; cell.detailTextLabel.text = @"A"; break; default: break; } return cell; } @end

  • Using a UITextView in a UITableViewCell with a UIKeyboard

    - by Luther Baker
I have a simple UITableView that has two cells. Cell 0:0 consists of a UITextField we'll call the title and Cell 0:1 consists of a UITextView we'll simply call a note. Cell 0:0 (the text field) is a standard size, one row cell. I'm therefore trying to fill the rest of the screen up with Cell 0:1 so I return a larger height for it. This all displays just fine and I'm using most of the iPhone real estate pretty efficiently at this point. Now, when a user wants to edit one of these cells, he need only click in the appropriate textfield or textview. If a user clicks in the textfield of Cell 0:0, all is well and the keyboard slides up from the bottom. My problem occurs when a user clicks into the the textview (Cell 0:1). No matter what I try, the UITableView wants to slide the entire table view up and that generally put the UITextView in Cell 0:1 halfway out of sight. What I want to do is two fold, I'm registered for when the keyboard will appear and in that method, I'd like to shrink the UITextView in Cell 0:1 as well as shrink the UITableViewCell itself so that the keyboard doesn't have to be smart and think it has to slide the UITableViewCell into view. Unfortunately, no matter what I try, the UITableView slides up. I just want the UITableView to stand still and I want the cell to animate up/shorter with the keyboard. It appears that, by the time the keyboard is actually animating into the screen - it is to late to adjust the cell size. The UIKit has already made up it's mind that it is going to scroll the UITableView.

  • ASP.NET MVC Page - hyper links in HTML.ValidationSummary

    - by Rita
    Hi I have Registration page and if the validation fails, it displays the error messages using HTML.ValidationSummary control. Now i have to display the Hyperlink in that Validation Error Message. But it is treating href also as string. The Validation Message that I am trying to display with hyperlink is: **"User already exists in the system, please <a href='../Login.aspx'>login</a>"** Appreciate your responses. Here is my Code: <% using (Html.BeginForm()) {%> <%= Html.ValidationSummary(false) %> <fieldset> <div class="cssform">; <p> <%= Html.LabelFor(model => model.email)%><em>*</em> <%= Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.email, new { @class = "required email" })%> <%= Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.email)%> </p> <p> <%= Html.Label("Confirm email")%><em>*</em> <%= Html.TextBox("confirm_email")%> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("confirm_email") %> </p> <p> <%= Html.Label("Password")%><em>*</em> <%= Html.Password("Password", null, new { @class = "required" })%> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("Password")%><br /> (Note: Password should be minimum 6 characters) </p> <p> <%= Html.Label("Confirm Password")%><em>*</em> <%= Html.Password("confirm_password")%> <%= Html.ValidationMessage("confirm_password") %> </p><hr /> <% } %

  • Integration test failing through NUnit Gui/Console, but passes through TestDriven in IDE

    - by Cliff
I am using NHibernate against an Oracle database with the NHibernate.Driver.OracleDataClientDriver driver class. I have an integration test that pulls back expected data properly when executed through the IDE using TestDriven.net. However, when I run the unit test through the NUnit GUI or Console, NHibernate throws an exception saying it cannot find the Oracle.DataAccess assembly. Obviously, this prevents me from running my integration tests as part of my CI process. NHibernate.HibernateException : The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly Oracle.DataAccess could not be found. Ensure that the assembly Oracle.DataAccess is located in the application directory or in the Global Assembly Cache. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly.* I have tried making the assembly available in two ways, by copying it into the bin\debug folder and by adding the element in the config file. Again, both methods work when executing through TestDriven in the IDE. Neither work when executing through NUnit GUI/Console. The NUnit Gui log displays the following message. 21:42:26,377 ERROR [TestRunnerThread] ReflectHelper [(null)]- Could not load type Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection, Oracle.DataAccess. • Is Rails Metal (& Rack) a good way to implement a high traffic web service api?

    - by Greg
I am working on a very typical web application. The main component of the user experience is a widget that a site owner would install on their front page. Every time their front page loads, the widget talks to our server and displays some of the data that returns. So there are two components to this web application: the front end UI that the site owner uses to configure their widget the back end component that responds to the widget's web api call Previously we had all of this running in PHP. Now we are experimenting with Rails, which is fantastic for #1 (the front end UI). The question is how to do #2, the back serving of widget information, efficiently. Obviously this is much higher load than the front end, since it is called every time the front page loads on one of our clients' websites. I can see two obvious approaches: A. Parallel Stack: Set up a parallel stack that uses something other than rails (e.g. our old PHP-based approach) but accesses the same database as the front end B. Rails Metal: Use Rails Metal/Rack to bypass the Rails routing mechanism, but keep the api call responder within the Rails app My main question: Is Rails/Metal a reasonable approach for something like this? But also... Will the overhead of loading the Rails environment still be too heavy? Is there a way to get even closer to the metal with Rails, bypassing most of the environment? Will Rails/Metal performance approach the perf of a similar task on straight PHP (just looking for ballpark here)? And... Is there a 'C' option that would be much better than both A and B? That is, something before going to the lengths of C code compiled to binary and installed as an nginx or apache module? Thanks in advance for any insights.

  • CSS positioning is weird when reducing the viewport

    - by Lars Hanke
I have a little meditation for you ... I run a site using a liquid tri-col layout with a header. The layout runs nicely since more than a decade with all browsers I ever dared to try. It is based on absolute positioning in CSS. This page provides an example of the actual site. Watching the page from my tablet I found that the right column overlaps the center matter. Further investigation using Firebug showed that once the center content reaches 360px width, the right margin of the div shrinks. Why is that? Since Firefox and Android render the same, I guess that this is something, which is actually supposed to be. However, I tried to make virtue out of necessity and experimented setting min-width for body and content and made the body scroll overflow. The body actually scrolls, but the right column is positioned on the right edge of the viewport instead of the body element (Firefox). Is this intentional CSS standard? Any ideas how to solve the presentation on small displays? Thanks for your efforts,  – lars.
