    hi i have a spark List control. it has a dataProvider that shows reply from twitter search. i have created a function for change handler like this: protected function list_changeHandler(event:IndexChangeEvent):void { ta.text = coverflow.selectedItem.title; } so, whenever i select each of the items in the List i will see the message(ta.text) but now, instead of me manually clicking the first time, i want it to automatically click/select the first item and see the first message(ta.text) how do i do it? ... newbie to flex ... :p

And I need to be able to rank each post from the list. I created a template and I am using [starrating template_id=45]. I need this, but with the posibility to rank from there. Is it possible??   • Append an object to a list in R?

    If I have some R list mylist, you can append an item obj to it like so: mylist[[length(mylist)+1]] <- obj But surely there is some more compact way. When I was new at R, I tried writing append() like so: append <- function(lst, obj) { lst[[length(list)+1]] <- obj return(lst) } but of course that doesn't work due to R's call-by-name semantics (lst is effectively copied upon call, so changes to lst are not visible outside the scope of append(). I know you can do environment hacking in an R function to reach outside the scope of your function and mutate the calling environment, but that seems like a large hammer to write a simple append function. Can anyone suggest a more beautiful way of doing this? Bonus points if it works for both vectors and lists.

    Why are listener lists (e.g. in Java those that use addXxxListener() and removeXxxListener() to register and unregister listeners) called lists, and usually implemented as Lists? Wouldn't a Set be a better fit, since in the case of listeners there's No matter in which order they get called (although there may well be such needs, but they're special cases; ordinary listener mechanisms make no such guarantees), and No need to register the same listener more than once (whether doing that should result in calling the same listener 1 times or N times, or be an error, is another question) Is it just a matter of tradition? Sets are some kind of lists under the hood anyway. Are there performance differences? Is iterating through a List faster or slower than iterating through a Set? Does either take more or less memory? The differences are certainly almost negligible.

    I'm using the Infragistics grid and I'm having a difficult time using a drop-down list as the value selector for one of my columns. I tried reading the documentation but Infragistics' documentation is not so good. I've also taken a look at this discussion with no luck. What I'm doing so far: col.Type = ColumnType.DropDownList; col.DataType = "System.String"; col.ValueList = myValueList; where myValueList is: ValueList myValueList = new ValueList(); myValueList.Prompt = "My text prompt"; myValueList.DisplayStyle = ValueListDisplayStyle.DisplayText; foreach(MyObjectType item in MyObjectTypeCollection) { myValueList.ValueItems.Add(item.ID, item.Text); // Note that the ID is a string (not my design) } When I look at the page, I expect to see a drop-down list in the cells for this column, but my columns are empty.

  • Check for updates of a specific Debian package list

    The setup I run a Debian Squeeze host that I use to build a multilanguage project (python, java, php...) and generate custom packages (debian and RPM) automatically (through jenkins) The problem The target distributions of those Debian packages are Etch, Lenny and Squeeze. But our project has some native dependencies that are available only through the DebianRelease + 1 repository (i.e Lenny + 1 == Squeeze, Squeeze + 1 == Wheezy). We for example, need the jetty packages from Squeeze in Lenny, and the cyrus-imapd-2.4 packages from Wheezy in Squeeze. Some additional info : Some package we can simply 'backport by hand' by mirroring the DebianRelease + 1 packages to our own repositories. For instance, the jetty package from Squeeze will run fine on Lenny because it doesn't need an s**tload of additional dependencies However we do need to rebuild some packages. For instance, cyrus-imapd-2.4 from Wheezy has a lot of unsatisfied dependencies on Squeeze. So we need to rebuild it in Squeeze and then upload it to our repo. The question I need to have a simple way of knowing if they are any updates on those extra packages (both "normal" and "security" updates). I could write a simple script that runs weekly, get some parameters from a file, and generate an update report. Let's say the file looks like this: jetty:squeeze cyrus-imapd-2.4:wheezy The script should run as normal user not to mess up the system apt configuration and issue the appropriate commands to generate that report. Does Debian has some built-in apt-* commands/options dedicated to that kind of problem I could use to write this script ? If not, can someone think of another clean solution to achieve what I need ?

    Given an arbitrary single argument representing a file (or directory, device, etc), how do I get the absolute path of the argument? I've seen many answers to this question involving find/ls/stat/readlink and $PWD, but none that suits my need. It looks like the closest answer is ksh's "whence" command, but I need it to work in sh/bash. Assume a file, foo.txt, is located in my home directory, /Users/matthew/foo.txt. I need the following behavior, despite what my current working directory is (I'm calling the command "abs"): (PWD is ~) $ abs foo.txt /Users/matthew/foo.txt $ abs ~/foo.txt /Users/matthew/foo.txt $ abs ./foo.txt /Users/matthew/foo.txt $ abs /Users/matthew/foo.txt /Users/matthew/foo.txt What would "abs" really be?   • Building a directory tree from a list of file paths

    I am looking for a time efficient method to parse a list of files into a tree. There can be hundreds of millions of file paths. The brute force solution would be to split each path on occurrence of a directory separator, and traverse the tree adding in directory and file entries by doing string comparisons but this would be exceptionally slow. The input data is usually sorted alphabetically, so the list would be something like: C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile2 C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Amarok\Afile3 C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Blender\alibrary.dll C:\Users\Aaron\AppData\Blender\and_so_on.txt From this ordering my natural reaction is to partition the directory listings into groups... somehow... before doing the slow string comparisons. I'm really not sure. I would appreciate any ideas. Edit: It would be better if this tree were lazy loaded from the top down if possible.

    Hi, Let's say I have a list, with an arbitrary number of indentation levels, like so: Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item Item If I'm displaying this list in an HTML document, how can I use CSS to handle the indentation? There might be an arbitrary number of indentation levels (although in practice there isn't going to be more than 5 or so). I don't want to create an "indent1" class that indents 10 pixels, an "indent2" class that indents 20 pixels, etc - that's clumsy. Is it possible to create a general rule that will indent by a certain distance based on an attribute value, or the position of an element in the hierarchy?

    I need to make a random list of permutations. The elements can be anything but assume that they are the integers 0 through x-1. I want to make y lists, each containing z elements. The rules are that no list may contain the same element twice and that over all the lists, the number of times each elements is used is the same (or as close as possible). For instance, if my elements are 0,1,2,3, y is 6, and z is 2, then one possible solution is: 0,3 1,2 3,0 2,1 0,1 2,3 Each row has only unique elements and no element has been used more than 3 times. If y were 7, then 2 elements would be used 4 times, the rest 3.

  • Html index page and files in that directory

    On my web site, there is an index page, but if I take out that index page, users will see the files in that directory, for instance my site is : XYZ.com and I have a directory called "My_Dir", so when a user typed in "XYZ.com/My_Dir" he will see the index.html if there is one, but if it's not there, he will see a list of all my files inside "My_Dir", so is it safe to assume that with an index page in any of my sub directories, I can hide all the files in those directories from users, in other words if I have "123.txt, abc.html and index.html" in "My_Dir", users won't be able to see "123.txt, abc.html" because of the existence of "index.html" [ unless of course I mention those two files inside index.html ] ?     Hi Guys, I have a Django view called change_priority. I'm posting a request to this view with a commas separated list of values which is basically the order of the items in my model. The data looks like this: 1,4,11,31,2,4,7 I have a model called Items which has two values - id and priority. Upon getting this post request, how can I set the priority of the Item depending upon the list order. So my data in the db would look like. 1,1 4,2 11,3 31,4 2,5 4,6 7,7 Thanks guys.

    I'm storing a List with around 3,000 objects in Isolatedstorage using Xml serialize. It takes too long to deserialize this and I was wondering if you have any recommendations to speed it up. The time is tolerable to deserialize up to 500 objects, but takes forever to deserialize 3000. Does it take longer just on the emulator and will be faster on the phone? I did a whole bunch of searching and some article said to use a binary stream reader, but I can't find it. Whether I store in binary or xml doesn't matter, I just want to persist the List. I don't want to look at asynchronous loading just yet...

    I know that if I were to compute a list of squares in Haskell, I could do this: squares = [ x ** 2 | x <- [1 ..] ] Then when I call squares like this: print $ take 4 squares And it would print out [1.0, 4.0, 9.0, 16.0]. This gets evaluated as [ 1 ** 2, 2 ** 2, 3 ** 2, 4 ** 2 ]. Now since Haskell is functional and the result would be the same each time, if I were to call squares again somewhere else, would it re-evaluate the answers it's already computed? If I were to re-use squares after I had already called the previous line, would it re-calculate the first 4 values? print $ take 5 squares Would it evaluate [1.0, 4.0, 9.0, 16.0, 5 ** 2]?

  • Adding Blogger template to predefined list

    I am working on updating a Blogger layout for a friend's website, and haven't had much luck in searching for this. Essentially, I want to create the template and show them before pushing it live. At present, there are lists of sample templates (Simple, Dynamic, etc), and I'd like to add mine as a clickable button for them to preview. When I attempt to import it, it is automatically published as the live template...but I don't want it to be seen before they review it. I want them to be able to switch between the current version and my version to see what is preferred. Is this even possible? It would be extraordinarily straightforward in WordPress, but I've never used blogger before...

  • Python - Check if numbers in list are factors of a number

    Hey, I have a list of numbers (integers) (say, from 1 to 10). They're not necessarily consecutive, but they are in ascending order. I've prompted the user multiple times to enter a choice of the available numbers. When that number is entered, it is removed from the list along with any of its factors that may be there. I've prevented the user from selecting prime numbers. However, at some point in time, there may be non-prime numbers there, which have no factors remaining. I'm relatively new to Python, so I'm having trouble implementing: Checking if the number selected has no factors remaining (even if it is not prime). Checking if only prime numbers remain, or numbers without factors. I'm thinking of using for statements, but I'm not sure exactly how to implement them. Can anyone offer advice, or code? Thanks in advance... PS. In case anyone's wondering, I'm doing an implementation of the game of Taxman in Python.

    If I have a list of objects IEnumerable<MyType> myTypes; Is it possible for me to return this to the client as JSON return Json(myTypes); and if so, is it possible for me to convert this (now JSON format) list to a when it gets to the client? Is there any jQuery plugin to do this? The thing is, there's loads of other stuff I need to send as JSON also, so generating a table with a PartialView and embedding that into the JSON is a extra complexity that I'd like to avoid.   • jQuery Autocomplete: how to refresh list?

    I have a form with a variable number of autocomplete fields that use the same select list. These fields are added and removed as needed. Whenever a parameter on the page is changed, I (try to) update the list for all the fields by first calling unbind() then autocomplete() with a new parameter added to the url. $('input.foo').unbind().autocomplete(url?new_param=bar); The problem is that unbind() does not seem to be unbinding. When I type in the input field, it fires off the entire history of autocomplete events. I also tried flushCache to no avail. How do I clear out the old events? Thanks.
