  Is it possible to open a window from PHP that has predefined content? It's obvious how you can open a window from a javascript link that frames an existing page, or just do a target=_blank from a regular a tag that references an existing page. But I am generating a bit of content, and want that content to be opened in a new link (or streamed to the viewer)-- something like (clearly psuedo code!): $content = "Hello World. <br />Nice to meet you!"; <a href="#" target="_blank" content=$content>Open up!</a> Is this possible? • Google Chrome window.open height includes URL bar

  When we open a window using: window.open("/calendar",'calendar','width=950,height=576,titlebar=no,statusbar=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no'); Firefox 3 and IE 7 open it to have a content area height of 576 plus the browser items (URL bar, status bar, etc). Chrome however opens it to have a total height of 576 meaning a scrollbar appears to the right of the content (and then the bottom because the width is now reduced). How can I get around this? It's for a heavy layout part of a web app so it's not just a matter of "let the user scroll", the client doesn't want that. Has anyone come across this? I don't mind browser sniffing and opening the window bigger, but I know that's yucky these days.

  I wanted to know if I can change my open ID url from say: www.abc.com/username to www.pqr.com/username while the relying party still thinks I am the same user? or even say: www.abc.com/something/username to www.abc.com/somethingelse/username I intuitively think that this is not possible since if it were, then it is possible for anyone to spoof anyone else's identity. Also, does Open ID specify which fields the relying party should use to ensure secure determination of the user's identity? For example, I would expect it to club the URL provided with the username/email address sent back by the Open ID server.

• Existing open source software for wireless mesh networking?

  Hello! My goal: Build a wireless mesh network with some ALIX 2D2 (500 MHz AMD Geode LX800 x86 CPU, 256MB RAM, Atheros wireless card) Aside from working like a normal wireless mesh network users should be able to read/write data from/to the ALIX Boxes and the ALIX boxes should be able to process data. Questions: Should I try to flash dd-wrt x86, voyage linux (linux.voyage.hk) or something else? What (open source) software should I look into before I start? Should I use a 'server' for data storage and processing instead of the ALIX boxes? Is it even possible to use the ALIX boxes for routing AND data storage and processing? Final notes: Data can be anything, for example, I want to setup a wireless mesh using the OLSRD protocol so my whole town gets wifi and can access songs on the network. It's not for that, but that's the idea. I'm not afraid of programing, compiling or working with *nix. This is mostly 'for fun' rather than for practicality. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

  We have a strange issue with our setup of icinga / nagios and mrtg. Icinga is working great and has no problem, it can monitor basically everything without issues. We setup mrtg to gather bandwith data from our routers and switches. MRTG is working fine: it stores the log data in the /var/www/mrtg/ directory and displays the graph data via web. We assume so MRTG is doing great. We tried to setup bandwidth checks in nagios: define service{ use generic-service ; Inherit values from a template host_name zywall-agora service_description ZYWALL AGORA TRAFFICO check_command check_local_mrtgtraf!/var/www/mrtg/x.x.x.x_2.log!AVG!1000000,2000000!5000000,5000000!1000 check_interval 1 ; Check the service every 1 minute under normal conditions retry_interval 1 ; Re-check every minute until its final/hard state is determined } Where /var/www/mrtg/x.x.x.x_2.log is the correct log path file. We keep on getting Unable to open MRTG log file error in the test result in icinga web interface. We tried everything: give ownership to user nagios or icinga to the log file give chmod 777 to the file try to copy the file in another directory and give it full permission Same error. The strange thing is that if we use the command that nagios generate in a bash session the command works like a charm: /usr/lib64/nagios/plugins/check_mrtgtraf -F /var/www/mrtg/x.x.x.x_2.log -a AVG -w 10,20 -c 5000000,5000000 -e 10 Result: Traffic WARNING - Avg. In = 17.9 KB/s, Avg. Out = 5.0 KB/s|in=17.877930KB/s;10.000000;5000000.000000;0.000000 out=5.000000KB/s;20.000000;5000000.000000;0.000000 We ran that command line as root, as user nagios and as user icinga and all three worked ok. We thought that the command that nagios perform maybe has something wrong in it, so we debugged nagios but we found out that the generated command from nagios is the same as above. Searching on google for these kind of problem returns only issues of systems where mrtg is not installed or issues with the wrong path to the log file, but these seems not to be our case. We are stuck, can somebody help?

• New user profile creation error - Windows cannot open *.exe

  I have a windows 7 laptop with the user "mydomain\boy" that cannot log in to the laptop. the error message is something like "User profile service cannot log in the user boy". I then logged in with the domain admin account "mydomain\admin" and then went to delete the "mydomain\boy" from my computer system properties advance system settings user profiles settings. I also ensure that the user is deleted from control panel user accounts. I then also deleted the user folder c:\users\boy I also checked that the registry at this location HKLM\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\profilelist\ and ensure that there is no entry for boy. I followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215 using the method 3 "fix it for me" but does not seem to do anything. (or i don't know how to use it). AFTER EVERYTHING DONE ABOVE... Everytime i log in with a new user, be it boy, girl or anything other domain account (other than the admin account already created when I first logged in to begin the fix/break), it takes a long time, and when the "preparing desktop" goes away, it starts to exe cannot open error e.g. regsvr.exe etc.. file association problem with exe QUESTION (phew finally..): Please tell me how to fix it? • SSH session closing whilst virtualenv session stays open (I think)

  I've been developing some sites using Flask recently (running on debian within a virtualenv), and when I am testing I can run it on a port, let's say post 5000. So I run the script like so: . env/bin/activate <- go into virtual environment python file.py <- run python script And I will be given this message: Running on http://0.0.0.0:5000/ So this all works great and I can access my site on this port fine. However... my rubbish ISP always does this thing where it resets something around 1am every morning. I have no idea what this is, everything runs like normal but I always get disconnected from any SSH sessions open. This leaves it running and all I can do is call: lsof -i Which will show me the process but if I kill it and then rerun it things get weird. The: Running on http://0.0.0.0:5000 message still shows but I cannot connect to it anymore. I've tried changing the port number and it seems the only thing that works is trying again later on or on another day. Now I'm assuming that something on my server resets inbetween these times and I would like to think it was maybe that virtualenv session timing out, but I cannot find out how to do this manually, does anyone know?

I have a problem though, in this tutorial creating a project is explained by running the command django-admin.py startproject mysite My issue is that this doesn't work. I changed to the directory where django-admin.py is located and ran the command chmod +x django-admin.py with no results. I tried adding the directory with the file to my path without results. I ended up fixing my problem with this command python /location/of/django-admin.py startproject mysite which yielded the outcome I expected. My problem is: What do I need to change/configure such that command django-admin.py startproject mysite would be sufficient?   Excel Pivot table error is: Cannot open Pivot Table source file C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\DatabaseName (version1).TableName I’ve seen other questions and answers with the same topic, but I think this is different. I believe I know why the error is occurring: Excel closed unexpectantly and did autosave with (version1) attached to the original file name and saved it in the C:\User etc. above , which is the default recovery location. I opened the recovered file in Excel, saved it as version1 on the server where the original file was located, deleted the original file, and renamed the version1 to the original name. When I go to PivotTable Tools? Options? Change Data Source, it shows only the Table and Range, which are correct, but it does not show the file name or path. The version1 and the renamed file both had the same structure, so the same source table was in both, by they were different files. How do I change the source file from what it is looking for to my renamed file? PS- The (version1) file that it says it is looking for is not in the autosave location, i.e. it is not at the path where it says it is looking in. Thank you for any help Ken

• How to prevent blocking http auth popups on firefox restart with many tabs open

  I am using the latest firefox with tab mix plus and tabgoups manager. I have maybe 50 or 100 tabs oben in different tab groups. When I shutdown firefox and start it again all tabs and tab groups are perfectly rebuilt. But I have also many pages open that are behind a standard http auth, and these pages all request their usernames and passwords. So during startup firefox pops up all these pages' http auth windows. And they block everything else in firefox, they are like modal windows. (I am involved in website development and the beta versions are behind apache http auth.) I have to click many times the OK button in the popups, before I can do anything. All the usernames and passwords are already filled in. (And the firefox taskbar entry blinks and the firefox window heading also blinks, and focus switches back and foth, which also annoys me. And sometimes the popups do not react to my clicks, because firefox is maybe just switching focus somewhere else. This is the worst.) I want a plugin or some way to skip those popups. There are some plugins I tried some time ago, but they did not do what I need, because they require a mouse click for each login, which is no improvement over the situation like it already is. This is not about password storage (because firefox already stores them). But of course, if some password storing plugin could heal this it would be great.

• MSDTC - Communication with the underlying transaction manager has failed (Firewall open, MSDTC network access on)

  I'm having problems with my ASP.NET web forms system. It worked on our test server but now we are putting it live one of the servers is within a DMZ and the SQL server is outside of that (on our network still though - although a different subnet) I have open up the firewall completely between these two boxes to see if that was the issue and it still gives the error message "Communication with the underlying transaction manager has failed" whenever we try and use the "TransactionScope". We can access the data for retrieval it's just transactions that break it. We have also used msdtc ping to test the connection and with the amendments on the firewall that pings successfully, but the same error occurs! How do i resolve this error? Any help would be great as we have a system to go live today. Panic :) Edit: I have created a more straightforward test page with a transaction as below and this works fine. Could a nested transaction cause this kind of error and if so why would this only cause an issue when using a live box in a dmz with a firewall? • Windows Explorer slow to open networked computer, fast to navigate once opened

  I open Windows Explorer and enter an IP for a computer on my home network (\\192.168.1.101). It takes 30 seconds or more to present a list of the shared folders. It does not appear to be an initial handshaking/authentication thing; even if I allow the view to load and then immediately load the same again, it is always slow. Once they appear, navigating through folders and opening files is fast. Also, navigating directly to a folder (\\192.168.1.101\My Music) is fast, even if it's the first connection since a restart. Using \\computerName instead of the IP address gives exactly the same results. Pings return in 1ms. net view \\computerName (or \ipAddress) returns the list of shared folders fast. This makes me suspect an Explorer issue rather than a network issue. Suspecting that the remote computer was being automatically indexed or something, I went into Tools-Folder Options-View and unchecked "Automatically search for network folders and printers," but that made no difference. De-selecting the "Folders" icon near the address bar makes no difference. Adding the IP address and computer name to the hosts file makes no difference. Both computers involved are laptops running Windows XP. Both have WiFi and cable adapters. Mine is not connected via cable. The result is the same whether the target is plugged in to the cable or not (although the IP address changes - 192.168.1.101 over cable, 192.168.1.103 over WiFi.) We are using DHCP assigned by the router.

• Open Source Chef Server can't upload cookbook

  I just setup the open source chef server on an Ubuntu 12.04 EC2 instance, I've setup my webui and am able to get responses from my knife commands ie: knife node list, knife client list, knife user list, etc... I'm able to update roles, databags, environments, etc... but I cannot upload any cookbooks. I'm running my workstation on Mac OSX. I keep getting this output at the end of my command knife cookbook upload -VV curl. • How to open semicolon delimited CSV-files in US-version of Excel

  When I double-click on a .csv file, it is opened in Excel. The csv-files have columns delimited with semicolons (not commas, but also a valid format). Using a German Windows/Excel setup, the opened file is displayed correctly, the columns are separated where the semicolons existed in the csv-file. But when I do the same on an (US-) English Windows/Excel setup, only one column is imported, showing the whole data including the semicolons in the first column. (I don't have an English setup available for tests, users have reported the behavior) I tried to change the list separator value in Windows regional settings, but that didn't change anything. What can I do to be able to double-click-open those CSV-files on an English setup? EDIT: It seems to be the best solution not to rely on CSV-files in this case. I was hoping that there is some formatting for CSV-files that makes it possible to use them internationally. The best solution seems that I'll switch to creating XLS-files.   Fresh install of CentOS 5.4 Downloaded the following: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin-1.510.tar.gz MD5 sum is correct (cdcc09d71d85d81914a90413eaf21d3f). The file is located here: /tmp/webmin-1.510.tar.gz tmp and webmin-1.510.tar.gz both have chmod 777. I am logged in as root. Command: tar -zxfv webmin-1.510.tar Result: tar: v: Cannot open: No such file or directory tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now tar: Child returned status 2 tar: webmin-1.510.tar: Not found in archive tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors Never run across this before. It's like it thinks that v is a file I want to extract, but its one of the command arguments... If I leave out the v... tar -zxf webmin-1.510.tar.gz The command stalls. It doesn't do anything. Just goes to the next line and no prompt comes up. I have to CTRL-C to get back to the prompt and a ls verifies that it didn't extract anything... My first reaction is that its not a valid tar/gz file or something. But the MD5 matches just fine. So I'm at a loss just a bit...

  After recompiling a new kernel on CentOS 6.3, using the same kernel I have been using on several other machines, I am getting a kernel panic on two machines. • Internet Explorer will not open

  I recently migrated a company to a Microsoft domain environment, logged the users in under their new domain accounts, and then copied the old profiles to the new profile. I am not sure if that is related since they did not complain about it right away and it may have been a subsequent patch or something, but I have two XP computers that will not open IE8. You click on it, and it nothing graphically happens at all, but you can see a process in task manager. If you click many times, you get multiple instances. It will appear often TWICE per click. It still works in the old profile, so it is specific to the profile, and I would like to fix it rather than blow it away. Here is what I have done without success: Tried opening without add-ons (the one in System Tools) Reinstalled IE8 Ran SFC /SCANNOW I found a script that was supposed to repair any registry entries, and ran it. I tried exporting the whole HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer key and deleting it, hoping that when I restarted it, it would recreate it...No joy. I restored it. Any ideas?

  I just started working for this small firm (30 people) a little bit ago, replacing their System Admin. First thing I noticed was Exchange Server 2010 was WAY out of date. Believe it or not they did not have SP1 installed. So after I installed and configured Exchange 2010 SP3 and redirected OWA I noticed something in OWA. I could add ANYONE's User Mailbox WITHOUT giving mailbox premission. I created a couple test users, same thing. I even had another employee provide me access to their OWA and they could open anyone's Inbox without granting permission. I don't want to play the blame game, but I was SHOCKED that this was going on. Luckly being such a small company I'll be able to cover this mistake that I did not create, BUT HOW? My guess is that I need to find out where the past System Admin went wrong in providing Full Access Permission? Or could this be a Auto-Mapping issue? • Eclipse Indigo freezes on 'Open Type' search

  When I'm trying to search for a Java class with Ctrl-shift-T (Open Type popup), Eclipse freezes when I'm typing 1 character. It usually takes about 8 seconds to 'unfreeze', but sometimes it won't come back at all.. When it freezes, I see that the eclipse process takes about 1Gig of mem and the CPU is about 100%! I've tried creating a new workspace, adjusting the eclipse.ini (perm size, different memory values), starting with -clean and at last reinstall the whole IDE. Nothing helps.. • Gnome, open with, custom command, filename reference

  I want to execute this custom command on a file from the Gnome File Browser: hexdump -C $f > $f.dump That would create a hexdump of the file with the file's name + .dump in the directory that the file exists in. When I say $f above I mean something that would substitute the name of the file that was opened. So I've tried "Open with", "Use a custom command". I can't get it to work. I've tried a number of symbols in place of $f. Is it even possible? Before you suggest getting a GUI hexdump program, this is just one example. I have the need to do this sort of thing for many terminal-type programs. Am I the only person on Earth who wishes for a hybrid File-Browser-slash-Command-Terminal? That would be a file browser which contained a terminal pane who's current directory always matched that of the file browser. One could execute shell commands in the context of what they were viewing in the browser.

• Open ports broken from internal network

  Quick summary: Forwarded port works from the outside world, but from the internal network using the external IP the connection is refused. This is a simplified situation to make the explanation easier: I have a computer that is running a service on port 12345. This computer has an internal IP 192.168.1.100 and is connected directly to a modem/router which has internal IP 192.168.1.1 and external (public, static) IP 1.2.3.4. (The router is TP-LINK TD-w8960N) I have set up port forwarding (virtual server) at port 12345 to go to port 12345 at 192.168.1.100. If I run telnet 192.168.1.100 12345 from the same computer everything works. But running telnet 1.2.3.4 12345 says connection refused. If I do this on another computer (on the same internal network, connected to the router) the same thing happens. This would seem like the port forwarding is not working. However... If I run a online port checking service on my external IP and the service port it says the port is open and I can see the remote server connecting and immediately closing connection. And using another computer that is connected to the internet using a mobile connection I can also use telnet 1.2.3.4 12345 and I get a working connection. So the port forwarding seems to be working, however using external IP from the internal network doesn't. I have no idea what can be causing this, since another setup very much like this (different router) works for me. I can access a service running on a server from inside the network both through the internal and external IP.
