What's a good starting point to understanding what looks like the only rocket-science programming language in the world?     In most MVC based framework I see a router object. If I look at it splits up the uri and decides what controller should be used, and which action should be fired. Even though this makes a lot of sense, I can not give this a place in the MVC patern. Is splitting up the uri not the job of the controller. And then the controller should just decide which class and function to run.

    Inserting (pasting from clipboard) of text constants in the Delphi code editor requires some manual "postprocessing" ... split up long text into multiple lines (and insert the string concatenation symbol) escape quotes (replace single quotes with double quotes) enclose the string with quotes keep original white space (leadinng blanks, line feeds) Is there a IDE plugin available which helps to reduce these manual steps?

    Hi, I have a question about ruby and wsdl soap. I couldn't find a way to get each method's params and their type. For example, if I found out that a soap has a methods called "get_user_information" (using wsdlDriver) is there a way to know if this method requires some params and what type of params does it require (int, string, complex type, ecc..)? I'd like to be able to build html forms from a remote wsdl for each method... Sorry for my horrible English :D

    Hi - how do I push server alerts to tray apps in java without using xmpp or other heavy protocols? Do you recommend a way to accomplish this? I was planning to write an app which uses URLConnection on a server equipped with Comet but I doubt if that would work as the client requires a JS to be invoked and URLConnection is not a browser.. What is the best way to push instead of using a proprietary client-server approach?

    I have setup a Bash menu script that also requires user input. These inputs are wrote (appended to) a text file named var.txt like so: input[0]='192.0.0.1' input[1]='username' input[2]='example.com' input[3]='/home/newuser' Now what I am trying to accomplish is to be able to read from var.txt from a script kinda like this: useradd var.txt/${input[1]} now I know that wont work just using it for an example.   • How to remove "Standard Error" column from xtable() output of an lm on R/RSweave/LaTeX

    I'm currently doing some data analysis on population data, so reporting the standard errors in the tables of parameter coefficients just doesn't really make statistical sense. I've done a fair bit of searching and can't find any way to customize the xtable output to remove it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?   • How to make OSX application that just runs opens some file type and runs arbitrary Ruby code?

    It's trivial to make a program executable from shell - just put #!/usr/bin/ruby on top, chmod +x it and done. Unfortunately OSX won't let me associate file type with such scripts - it requires its .apps instead. This sort of distinction doesn't seem to exist on other operating systems. What's the simplest way of making such .app, which would merely execute some arbitrary Ruby code?

For example, from a web application, each user has files they can upload, but how do you limit access so only that user has access to that file?     I'm trying to embed and then play back a .wav file in a C++/CLI app but all the examples I've seen which use PlaySound are in VB. I can't see how to get froma Stream^ to the LPCSTR which PlaySound requires: System::IO::Stream^ s = Assembly::GetExecutingAssembly()->GetManifestResourceStream ("Ping.wav"); LPCSTR buf = s->????; PlaySound(buf, NULL, SND_ASYNC|SND_MEMORY|SND_NOWAIT); I guess I need some sort of horrible .net memory conversion magic.

  • How do I correlate build configurations in dependant vcproj files with different names?

    I have a solution file that requires a third party library (open source). The containing solution uses the typical configuration names of "Debug" and "release". The 3rd party one has debug and release configs for both DLL and static libs - their names are not "Debug" and "Release". How do I tell the solution to build the dependency first and how do I correlate which config to the dependant config? i.e. MyProject:Debug should build either 3rdParty:debug_shared or 3rdParty:debug_static

  • Implementing a Cakephp Model using an Array

    The CakePHP Cookbook states that a Model can use a file (csv for example) instead of an actual database table but I couldn't find any implementation for it. I was wondering if it is possible to use an Array of data as a model in CakePHP since I have a fairly static set of data which is important to me in a relationship with another table but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to create a complete table for it. Is it possible to implement a CakePHP Model using an Array?
