  Hi..:) I am looking for word alignment tools and algorithms, I am dealing with bilingual English - Hindi text, Currently I am working on DTW(Dynamic Time Warping) algorithm, CLA(Competitive Linking Algorithm) , NATool, Giza++. Could you please suggest me any other alogrithm/tool which is language independent which could achieve Statistical word alignment for parallel English Hindi Corpora and its Evaluation, some tools languages are best for certain languages.. Could one please tell me how true is that and if so could you please give me an example what would suite better for Asian languages like Hindi and what shouldn't I use for such languages. I have heard a bit about uplug word aligner.. could one tell me if I could use it as a tool for my purpose. Thank you.. :)

  After learning the basic syntax, reading some non-trivial code is a fast way to learn a language. We can also learn how to design a library/software during reading others' code. I have following lists. A Chess program in OCaml by Tomek Czajka. Hal Daumé has written several machine learning libraries in Ocaml. Including decision trees, logistic regression and SVM. All of them are near-production-quality code. A Chess Game Analysis program in F# in Microsoft Research. The above three are my favorites. Will you suggest some other sources? General purpose open source software are good, specialized open source like the three I list here are even more welcome.

• Fastest way to access VB6 String in C#

  Hi I am using COMInterop. I have a call in VB6 which returns a string of roughly 13000 chars. If I execute the call in pure VB6 it takes about 800ms to execute. If I execute it via c# and COMInterop it takes about 8 seconds. I'm assuming the delay is caused by marshalling. If I am correct about marshalling, I'd be grateful if someone could suggest the fastest way I can get this into C#. e.g. Would it be better to a) expose it as a byte array b) provide a byref string param into the VB6 layer I would appreciate some sample code as well. I tried the Marshal.PtrToStringAuto(Marshal.ReadIntPtr(myCOMObject.GetString, 0) to no avail Many thx S

• npruntime example plugin (c++) of NPAPI fails to run on mac OSX 10.5

  Hi I have compiled Mozilla NPAPI plugin example npruntime on Mac OSX 10.5. It give me a libnprt.dylib I am bundling this dylib with proper plist. On loading the plugin, NP_GetMIMEDescription() is getting called (i am logging this), but its not going inside NP_GetEntryPoints(). How a part of code is getting loaded and a part not? Can you suggest me of any other documentation or example code? Any light on "How to make an NPAPI plugin for Mac"? Advance thanks -Parimal Das

  Hi, I have two doubts regarding ceil function.. 1. The ceil() function is implemented in C. if i use ceil(3/2), it works fine.. But when i use ceil(count/2)-if value of count is 3, then it gives compile time error.. /tmp/ccA4Yj7p.o(.text+0x364): In function FrontBackSplit': : undefined reference toceil' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status How to use the ceil function in second case??   I want to get some trick for this problem. I have my table like this Product (uuid, Name) and one datagridview to display this information ( dataGridView.DataSouce = Products which is assign on runtime) My problem is that I want to have "No" column on dataGridView which will show like below No | Name 1 | ProdctA 2 | ProductB 3 | ProductC What I do right now is create a "No" field on my product Model, and loop through all the row and assign value to it. • Patterns for implementing field change tracking.

  Hi all For one of my recent projects, I had to implement field change tracking. So anytime the user changed a value of a field, the change was recorded in order to allow full auditing of changes. In the database, I implemented this as a single table 'FieldChanges' with the following fields: TableName, FieldName, RecordId, DateOfChange, ChangedBy, IntValue, TextValue, DateTimeValue, BoolValue. The sproc saving changes to an object determines for each field whether it has been changed and inserts a record into FieldChanges if it has: if the type of the changed field is int, it records it in the IntValue field in the FieldChanges table, etc. This means that for any field in any table with any id value, I can query the FieldChanges table to get a list of changes. This works quite well but is a bit clumsy. Can anyone else who has implemented similar functionality suggest a better approach, and why they think it's better? I'd be really interested - thanks. • UIScrollView and UIImage in it with paging enabled

  Hello guys! I need to display 10 - 1000 images on a UIScrollView. Paging is enabled. So every page of the scrollview is an image, it is an uiimage. I can load 10 images to 10 uiimages which stays in the memory, but with 1000 images I have problems on the iPhone or on the iPad. I am trying to unload and then load the images when I am doing scrolling. I every time displays 3 images. The current page image, and the -1 and +1 pages. When I am scrolling I unload the image and then load the next. With this method I have two problems. The scrolling is laggy and if I scroll very fast the images don't appear. Maybe is there any good solution for these problems? Can you suggest me one?

• Append an object to a list in R?

  If I have some R list mylist, you can append an item obj to it like so: mylist[[length(mylist)+1]] <- obj But surely there is some more compact way. When I was new at R, I tried writing append() like so: append <- function(lst, obj) { lst[[length(list)+1]] <- obj return(lst) } but of course that doesn't work due to R's call-by-name semantics (lst is effectively copied upon call, so changes to lst are not visible outside the scope of append(). I know you can do environment hacking in an R function to reach outside the scope of your function and mutate the calling environment, but that seems like a large hammer to write a simple append function. Can anyone suggest a more beautiful way of doing this? Bonus points if it works for both vectors and lists.

  Hello, I am running two processes,Process A is opened by Process B using the following example: createProcessHandle = CreateProcess( TEXT("C:\\Users\Jamie\\Documents\\Application\\Debug\\ProcessA.exe"), TEXT(""), NULL, NULL, FALSE, 0, NULL, NULL, &startupinfo, &process_information ); As you can see the Process is reliant on the path given to it, the problem I have is that if I change the location of my ProcessA.exe (Such as a backup/duplicate) it's a tiresome process to keep recoding the path. I want to be able to make it run no matter where it is without having to recode the path manually. Can anybody suggest a solution to this?

In fact i have never done any before, though i have previous java experience from modules at university. I am trying to write a programme that converts a single integer in to binary. • Microsoft flexgrid Control : Run-time error '438' Object doesnt support this property or method

  I am maintaining a legacy Microsoft Access application that is using the Microsoft Flexgrid 6.0. It recently started causing the following error: Run-time error '438' Object doesn't support this property or method People say that this error can be caused by the KB960715 security update being applied, which sets killbits on various ActiveX control methods which were deemed a security risk. But this or no other security update has been applied recently. Others say that installing Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Service Pack 6 Cumulative Update will update the flex grid. This requires VB6 to be installed as a prerequisite so I installed that on my PC and then the update, and retrieved the updated MsFlxGrd.ocx file(Version: 6.1.98.12) and copied to the application machine, but the error still prevails. Someone here says you can disable the killbit in the registry. But there are afew hundred nodes in the location they suggest, none of which has the same guid as the one they point out. Any ideas?

• How can I tell if a CSV is in UTF-7 or UTF-8

  Excel seems to save CSV files in (what I think is) UTF-7, despite the fact that most information I have read suggest that in general, you should not UTF-7. Indeed, other applications (Text pad, which lets me choose) save things in UTF-8 (or Unicode etc, but UTF-7 is not even an option). Using .NET, I read the stream, and have to provide the encoding. If I get it wrong, accented characters are replaced with question marks. If I try and let StreamReader work it out (using detectEncodingFromByteOrderMarks), it gets it wrong (at least, it does if the file has been saved in Excel). It is unlikely that anything other then Excel will be used, so I could just assume UTF-7. Are there any other options? I need to support French (accented), German, Dutch, and Norwegian characters.

  i was working with readdirectorychangesW till i encountered an unwanted behavior.below is short reference the way i am using my readdirectorychanges func. The behavior is that in case a big file in GBs is copied to the watched directory i get the notification immediately and thereby i start doing my operation according to the notification i receive ,but the file IO ( copy operation is still pending) and that results in unxpected state. Can anyone please suggest a way to synchronize this operation. • Replacement relevance sorting for MySQL fulltext in InnoDB tables?

  I am using MySQL InnoDB and want to do fulltext style searches on certain columns. What is the best way of sorting the results in order of relevance? I am trying to do something like: SELECT columns, (LENGTH(column_name) - LENGTH(REPLACE(column_name, '%searchterm%', ''))) AS score FROM table WHERE column_name LIKE '%searchterm%' ORDER BY score However this will become quite complicated once I start searching more than 1 column or using more than one keyword. I already have several joins happening so have simplified the query above. Can anyone suggest a better way? I don't want to use any 3rd party software like Sphinx etc

• g++ not linking header files properly

  I am using cygwin libraries to run C and C++ programs on Windows. gcc runs fine, but with g++, I get a long list of errors. I think these erros are because of linking problems with C libraries. • dynamic linking:change of the linking path.

  Normally it happens that when ever the path of the library that has to be linked dynamically is defined in LD_LIBRARY_PATH or it it will be mentioned with -L flag while creating the binary. In actual scenario if ,lets say the binary has been built and deployed at the client place. Now if there is a change in the path of one of the dynamic link library path. then we need to supply a new make file to all the clients where the binary was deployed. is there any other method where we need not tell all the clients to change their makefiles and can something can be done in the code itself? if yes...could anybody please suggest how? This was ironically an interview question that was asked to me and i didnot have the answer for it.

  Hello, Besides using Appcelerator's Titanium Desktop, are there other approaches to integrating Javascript and Ruby/Python into cross-platform desktop applications? Just trying to get a sense of the landscape here. From searching the web, it seems Titanium may be leading the charge in terms of this type of integration. I wasn't able to find references that suggest you can do something similar in Adobe AIR. I am interested in building desktop applications that exploit Protovis and possibly other Javascript interactive vis packages for the UI. At the end of the day, I can go the web app route if need be, but being able to develop desktop apps is helpful. Would appreciate your perspective on this... Chris

Sometimes it's very useful to be to fetch data stored on your remote server simply by invoking netcat with some shell kung fu, for example: To download the XML result of your nightly data crunching job you might run something like: echo "get 95ec6c7693ec53771c8a3fb1061562b8" | nc localhost 11211 > console_overview_06_04_2010.xml The interesting part here is get SOME_UNIQUE_KEY which is part of the memcached protocol.   One of the biggest issues I have, from a UI standpoint, when building a new website is figuring out what colors I will use and of those colors, do they actually work well together. I found this site that has really helped me out and I figured I would share it with all of you and also get some responses back about either sites similar or other ways that you get/figure out your color schemes. Here is the site that I currently use: http://kuler.adobe.com/ With Adobe Kuler, you can chose a base color and it will suggest 5 colors, including your color, that go well with one another. You can, of course, modify the colors it chooses. Also,one of the main features I use, is the image color matching. You can upload an image and it will determine a color scheme based on the colors of the image. So if you have a logo and want to use the colors of the logo, then this works perfectly for you.
