• My notebook goes offline automatically after some time

  I have about 3 computers and 1 windows 2003 server in office and 1 network printer (HP LJ 2840). My network printer is installed on the server. I an sharing this printer on all clients with windows XP. All other computers are fine only 1 HP laptop. When I start that HP laptop the printer works fine but after some time, printer goes offline and I can't print until I restart the laptop. When that laptop goes to offline mode, I can work on that laptop, I can use shared network drives, I can ping server but it shows offline mode icon in Task bar status area. If i use \\servername I can see the server's shared items and if i go to printers I can't see any printer... I try my best to solve this issue, but I can't. Thanks

• Server App - Users

  I'm using mac OSX lion server, and I'm trying to setup a user account with access to different services. I had to create the user in Prefs users and groups, because it wouldn't work in the Server app. In the server app, it kept saying "This operation couldn't be completed". I managed to create the user in the system prefs, but now I'm back in the server app and cannot update the services the user has access to. The checkboxes are all there for e.g. Address book, file sharing etc, but I can't deselect any of them... Any ideas on why I can't change a user's access to services?

In addition, the library also provides all of the native functions such as pinch-to-zoom, swiping to navigate and tapping to hide/show the navigation arrows and back button. I want to add a button that if clicked by the user, would display a UIActionSheet with options for sharing the photo by mail or MMS and the user would choose one of them. I see a lot of tutorials about this but I need to do this by my self. so plz help me

• How do I make YouTube videos fill up an entire screen when using dual monitors?

  I am using a dual monitor setup on Ubuntu 9.10 using the TwinView configuration in NIVIDA X Server Settings. My total resolution is 2960x1050 pixels, and my individual monitors are 1680x1050 (primary) and 1280x1024 (secondary). When going into fullscreen mode on any video on YouTube, I only see a cropped version of the video on my primary display as seen below. This does not occur on any other video sharing website - they properly make the video to fill the entire screen on my primary monitor. To my knowledge this problem only happens on YouTube.

• NTFS Folder has no owner, no permissions, can't be deleted

  Hi, I have a folder a 2003 member server which can't be deleted. Nothing has any permissions (domain admin and running up a cmd prompt as "nt authority\system" using psexec) - always "access denied". When I do a dir /q, the owner shows as "...". I've tried takeown.exe on the folder and also it's parent. The bad folder always reports "access denied". Also tried to reset using icacls, same thing. Explorer permissons has no sharing & security options or tabs. It works fine for other folders, even in the same directory. Bit stumped to say the least. g.

• Run a server and local wireless network off my laptop with no internet.

  I'm trying to run a wireless network from my computer so that people in range can connect to the network and hit a website running off my machine. I don't want to enable file sharing or remote access or anything else of that nature. I just want them to be able to connect to the network, type in an IP or domain name in a browser, and be taken to a locally hosted website. No broader internet access needed. Any ideas / links to good tutorials on the subject? Is this something i can achieve with just a wifi card or will need a router?

I've got a wildcard-SSL certificate and created two vhost configs: Host A listen 127.0.0.1:443 ssl; server_name a.example.com; root /data/httpd/a.example.com; ssl_certificate /etc/ssl/wildcard.cer; ssl_certificate_key /etc/ssl/wildcard.key; Host B listen 127.0.0.1:443 ssl; server_name b.example.com; root /data/httpd/b.example.com; ssl_certificate /etc/ssl/wildcard.cer; ssl_certificate_key /etc/ssl/wildcard.key; However, I get the same vhost served for either hostname.

• Development environment clean installation

  Hi there! I'm about to install a new and clean development environment. To accomplish that, I would like a Windows operating system (possibly Windows 7) and a Ubuntu one (possibly the most recent, 10.04). To allow sharing data between the two operating systems, I'm thinking to create a partition (workspace, for example) with using NTFS to format it and that be automatically mounted by Ubuntu. In terms of the partitioning schema, how would be better to organize the previous mentioned partitions? Thanks in advance, Best regards!

• Windows 7 with two network cards doesn't route traffic

  I have simple task to do: I have wni7 with two nics.I want to connect another comp(osx) to win7 through second nic to connect it to internet. I already changed the registry. Win7 interface with 192.168.2.1 has no gateway set (no point to do that) OSX interface with 192.168.2.2 has gateway set to 192.168.2.1 I do not add any routes on win7, every thing seems to be already there network on second nic is detected as "undefined network" (probably effect of no gateway) i can achieve any connectivity to internet from OSX only by enabling network connection sharing on nic with 192.168.2.1, but it enables NAT and I'm interested only in pure routing without nat(it's a setup for some research). firewall is off. It seems to me that win7 refuses to forward packets for some reason. Perhaps "undefined network" and NLA service is to blame, although i couldn't find any info about that.   with yesterday's rollout of icloud, it seems those of us who refuse to upgrade to lion are left in the dust as far as it goes with calendar/contact syncing. i have had a mobileME account for years, i use it to sync my calendars, contacts and email between iphone/imac/macbook pro. i am NOT upgrading to lion. with the icloud transition, it seems im only able to access my mobileME email, but my calendars and contacts have stopped syncing. has anyone been able to get sync working with icloud contacts/calendars under 10.6.8? if not, what are some viable options for a seamless, background sync of calendars and contacts between my various devices?

• Generating and collaborating on network map diagrams?

  I have to turn out some network topology maps for very large networks. I'd like the format for the maps to be something other people can also edit and contribute to regardless of what software I'm using on my Mac to build them. I don't mind spending money on my end for software, but I can't require that my clients spend any money. I also can't promise my clients are also using OS X -- they could be running Linux or Windows. Is there a best software application on OS X for producing maps that I can share with other, non-OS X, users? Is there a best format for sharing topology maps that I should use when exporting the maps to disk?

  I'm going to buy 3 lowest-cost possible pcs for new trainee starting in our company. I found some HP notebooks with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. Will users be able to access to company Windows domain (i.e. to log as MY_COMPANY\username)? Or do I need Windows 7 Pro? Which functionalities are missing in Home version? Remote Desktop? edit: about sharing folders I can, with my linux machine along with my domain user and password, join the samba shared folders and printers and this could be enough for our needs. • TCP/IP communication between Hyper-V host and guests

  This may be a simple one. :) I have a simple Hyper-V setup with a few guest os running. The host has 1 physical network adapter with a static IP assigned to it. The guests have network adapters assigned to "Internet" (Hyper-V network) which is bound to the physical host network adapter (Hyper-V "External" connection type). I am not able to communicate (ping or anything else) between guests and host. I've checked firewall and it seems fine (ports open from anywhere still don't work). I'm trying to communicate with the hosts IP assigned to the same physical interface that the guests are sharing. Guests can communicate between them just fine. I can't seem to find any relevant setting (I might just be missing it). So my questions: How do I fix it so host and guests can communicate?

• MAMP and WordPress - Theme is gone

  Hey SuperUsers, I hope this is the right section to post this kind of question. If it's not, I am sorry. But to my question: I created a working WordPress blog, running locally with MAMP Pro. I wanted to share my site, and thought I would go public with it, but self hosted. I signed up at DynDNS for my domain and got it working. People can connect, myself included of course. But here goes my problem: Everytime I try to access my website (**.dyndns.info:8888), I am able to access it, but the theme and pictures are gone, so it's only pure text with some links. I can provide a picture of the website if you want it? But what is it I am doing wrong? I tried to enable Web Sharing, but that didn't make a difference. • Copy-paste stops working on Windows 7

  Copy-paste functionality stops working after about an hour after each reboot on a Windows 7 64-bit system. Running Google Chrome (with gmail and few other tabs open like Calendar, Reader), MS Outlook (which I don't think has anything to do with the problem — I saw it when outlook was off as well), iTunes (9.1.1.12 if it matters). Would appreciate hints where and what for to look in a registry, and ideas for possible fix. That is not an Internet Explorer problem (I don't even run it) — it happens in all applications. Neither Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V nor context menu right-click Copy-Paste (actually, nothing happens on Copy, so there is nothing in a clipboard to Paste) are working. Drag-and-Drop (where supported) continues working though.

• Which is the best way to sync and share contacts and calender between Thunderbird, iPhone and Android?

  I would like to keep my contacts and a calendar synchronized between several desktops and cellphones. Is there a way to achieve this without using Google or similar organisations? I want to keep my data protected and safe, so an encrypted transfer would be useful. Do i need to install a service on my own rootserver? or are there any services available, that are safe? I read this post, but there is not mentioned not to use Google: Thunderbird contacts sync so no solutions with SoGo or LDAP. maybe Zimbra is a solution? or Funambol? I tried kolab, but had some unsolveable problems.

• Asus RT-N66U forgets USB-Printer

  about a week ago I bought the new Asus RT-N66U as the new Router in our little company. There are about 5 clients and 2 printers. There's a USB-only printer as well, therefor we bougth a router with USB-printer sharing. The setup and everything works smooth, but then after one day, and I still haven't found out why, suddenly the printer dosen't show up in the list of connected devices in the routers webinterface anymore. Of course I loose the possibility of printig, even though the printer shows up as "online" in the system settings. Can anybody guess the reason for this problem? Thank you very much

• Mac OSX DHCP Stopped Working [on hold]

  Tethering a Raspberry PI to a MacBook (Mavericks) via ethernet is proving to be a real pain. This worked for about a day. My MacBook required a rare reboot and once it came back up the Pi won't get an address. I've confirmed it's not a problem with the Pi. It's a problem with the MacBook for sure. It's basically just stopped giving out IPs. I've read as much as I've found about how to fix this friggin' problem, but I've thus far come up blank. Internet sharing Wi-fi Ethernet enabled, and/or Edited /etc/bootpd.plist as described here (http://www.jacquesf.com/2011/04/mac-os-x-dhcp-server/ - this worked initially and now no longer does) Pi connected directly to the router has no problems. My MacBook DHCP server will no longer give out addresses. Any help would be much appreciated.

• Little server for a little network: Asus TS Mini + Windows Home Server or other?

  Hello, I'm building a little network with 4 computer a plotter, 3 printers an a HP Fax/Scan/Copy/Print machine. The network is connected to the web by a D-Link router/firewall. I would like to add little server to have file sharing (reachable via VPN from outside by a single user-road-warrior), automatic backups. I would like to avoid big electrics bills or, to say It in a green way, I would like to avoid useless power consumption made by a big server with hot-plug, Raid, double PSU because I don't need all this stuff. The server must work 24/7 and the budget is between 400€ and 1000€. I'm evaluating the Asus EEE Box (with XP), a TranquilPC (with XP), a FitPC (again with XP), and an Asus TS Mini (with Windows Home Server). I like the latter but since I'm Europe I don't know where I can buy It. Do you have any suggestion/experience to share with me about: which hardware do I have to buy ? which O.S. ?

• OS X: How to create a user account with access to the applications that she has installed only.

  Till now, I've been the sole and proud owner of an iMac. I've always logged in as an administrator and I've also installed a bunch of software following the standard procedure of dragging and dropping it into the Applications folder. This is about to change, as sharing it with a friend makes a lot of sense now that I only have time to use the computer in the mornings, and she can only use it at nights. I thought this was going to be really easy: Just create a user account for her and that's all, I thought. Unfortunately, this is not the case. When she logins into the computer using her username and password, she has access to the same applications I've installed. Even the same applications that I setup to automatically start when I login start for her when she does. How can I setup a user that has only access to the applications that she has installed, but none of the ones installed by other users? Many thanks

  From an end-user perspective, what is the difference between a NAS device and using NFS exports from a file server? They seem to accomplish the same end result. The difference between a SAN and other file storage is related (in my experience) to how they are connected to the server infrastructure. However, the difference between a NAS, connecting over standard ethernet, and NFS (sharing storage off specific servers, also over the network), seems more nebulous. Is there a good reason to pick a NAS filer over NFS on servers?

• Accessing localhost:8080 through local network

  I'm developing a Python WSGI website. I'm running a Paste development server on my Mac (OS X 10.7) on port 8080. I want to test the website on some other devices and OSs I have connected to the local network (Windows 7 VM, iPad, iPhone, etc.), but am having trouble. I turned on Web Sharing, and am able to access that (port 80) without a problem on all my devices. Port 8080 still doesn't work. An excerpt from my Paste configuration: [server:main] use = egg:waitress#main host = 127.0.0.1 port = 8080 The OS X firewall (Settings - Security - Firewall) is off. I have no other firewall software installed. My network is through a Linksys WRT160N router. I haven't done much with the settings, so most of them are at their defaults. I've been Googling all morning, but can't find a solution.

• Dns works, can ping, but cannot load web pages in browser

  Yesterday I changed routers, and my desktop computer started acting up. I could ping websites, and nslookup was able to resolve names to addresses, but neither chrome, firefox, nor ie could load any webpages. None of my other computers connected to the same wireless router have any problems. I connect my desktop to the router through a cheap wifi dongle. I am not super familiar with networking, but it seems that it is not a problem with the router, as dns works, and so does dhcp (the desktop is assigned an address correctly). • A definition for a CPU second?

  Hey, I'm totally behind this topic. Yesterday I was doing profiling for some script I'm working on, and the unit for time spent was a 'CPU second'. Can anyone remind me with the definition of it? For example for some profiling I got: 200.750 CPU seconds. What does that supposed to mean? At other case and for time consuming process I got: -347.977 CPU seconds, a negative number! Is there anyway I can convert that time, to calendar time? Cheers,
