• Does Apache ever give incorrect "out of threads" errors?

  Lately our Apache web server has been giving us this error multiple times per day: [Tue Apr 06 01:07:10 2010] [error] Server ran out of threads to serve requests. Consider raising the ThreadsPerChild setting We raised our ThreadsPerChild setting from 50 to 100, but we still get the error. Our access logs indicate that these errors never even happen at periods of high load. For example, here's an excerpt from our access log (ip addresses and some urls are edited for privacy). Since the Apache server runs as a separate process and the database doesn't record any problems when this error occurs, I'm doubtful that Oracle is the problem. Unfortunately, the errors are freaking out our sysadmins, who are inclined to blame any and all problems which occur with the server on this error. Is this a known bug in Apache that I simply haven't been able to find any reference to through Google?

• Azure Diagnostics wrt Custom Logs and honoring scheduledTransferPeriod

  I have implemented my own TraceListener similar to http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/05/23/diagnostics-of-cloud-services-custom-trace-listener.aspx . One thing I noticed is that that logs show up immediately in My Azure Table Storage. I wonder if this is expected with Custom Trace Listeners or because I am in a development environment. I notice when I set autoflush to true in the webconfig, every thing works but scheduledTransferPeriod is not honored because the flush method pushes to the table storage. I would like to have scheduleTransferPeriod trigger the flush or trigger flush after a certain number of log entries like the buffer is full. Then I can also flush on server shutdown. • Custom listview entry works in JB not in Gingerbread

• Exposing model object using bindings in custom NSCell of NSTableView

  I am struggling trying to perform what I would think would be a relatively common task. I have an NSTableView that is bound to it's array via an NSArrayController. The array controller has it's content set to an NSMutableArray that contains one or more NSObject instances of a model class. What I don't know how to do is expose the model inside the NSCell subclass in a way that is bindings friendly. For the purpose of illustration, we'll say that the object model is a person consisting of a first name, last name, age and gender. Thus the model would appear something like this: @interface PersonModel : NSObject { NSString * firstName; NSString * lastName; NSString * gender; int * age; } Obviously the appropriate setters, getters init etc for the class. In my controller class I define an NSTableView, NSMutableArray and an NSArrayController: @interface ControllerClass : NSObject { IBOutlet NSTableView * myTableView; NSMutableArray * myPersonArray; IBOutlet NSArrayController * myPersonArrayController; } Using Interface Builder I can easily bind the model to the appropriate columns: myPersonArray --> myPersonArrayController --> table column binding This works fine. So I remove the extra columns, leaving one column hidden that is bound to the NSArrayController (this creates and keeps the association between each row and the NSArrayController) so that I am down to one visible column in my NSTableView and one hidden column. I create an NSCell subclass and put the appropriate drawing method to create the cell. In my awakeFromNib I establish the custom NSCell subclass: PersonModel * aCustomCell = [[[PersonModel alloc] init] autorelease]; [[myTableView tableColumnWithIdentifier:@"customCellColumn"] setDataCell:aCustomCell]; This, too, works fine from a drawing perspective. I get my custom cell showing up in the column and it repeats for every managed object in my array controller. If I add an object or remove an object from the array controller the table updates accordingly. However... I was under the impression that my PersonModel object would be available from within my NSCell subclass. But I don't know how to get to it. I don't want to set each NSCell using setters and getters because then I'm breaking the whole model concept by storing data in the NSCell instead of referencing it from the array controller. And yes I do need to have a custom NSCell, so having multiple columns is not an option. Where to from here? In addition to the Google and StackOverflow search, I've done the obligatory walk through on Apple's docs and don't seem to have found the answer. I have found a lot of references that beat around the bush but nothing involving an NSArrayController. The controller makes life very easy when binding to other elements of the model entity (such as a master/detail scenario). I have also found a lot of references (although no answers) when using Core Data, but Im not using Core Data. As per the norm, I'm very grateful for any assistance that can be offered!

• Custom Template and Layered Navigation

  I created a custom template for the category view that displays all subcategories for current category. When i set the current category as is_anchor = yes in the admin, the layered navigation filters show up in the side bar. The Sub categories is one of the filters are there as well, but when i click on one them the page still displays all subcategories. I would like to some how test for active filters in my custom template, which i assume there has to be a way to get this info from Magento. Below is my custom code. $_filters is how i am trying to access these filters, but it gives me nothing. • Silverlight Listbox firing MouseRightButtonDown, but not MouseLeftButtonDown

  I have this problem in a bigger Project...... so I set up a 'Testpoject' as Proof of Concept: New Silverlight-Application Add Listbox Fill listbox with a few Checkboxes Register listBox1_MouseLeftButtonDown register listBox1_MouseRightButtonDown You will see, that the listBox1_MouseLeftButtonDown won't fire under any circumstances.... listBox1_MouseRightButtonDown however fires just fine. I tried using a custom Class deriving from ListBox and overriding, assuming something in the ListBox Class was setting e.Handled = false, but this did not change the behaviour, either. Any Ideas on why this happens and how to fix? (This problem also stops the 'parent'-control from receiving the Click-Event... so the Event-passing is broke)

• Notifying iFrame page from Firefox extension?

  I'm writing a Firefox extension and need to notify an iFrame page of certain events. The iFrame page is contained within a sidebar created by the extension, and this iFrame page is controlled by me. When I load the iFrame page, the extension code needs to send a notification and trigger something to happen within the iFrame page. To accomplish this, I'm creating an event from the extension Javascript and firing the event, which the iFrame page is listening to. Unfortunately, when invoking document.createEvent(), this error pops up (copied, with the quotes, straight out of Firebug): Operation is not supported" code: "9 Any clues on the error, or suggestions on how to trigger something in an iFrame page from the extension Javascript? • Event Capturing vs Event Bubbling

  I just wanted to get the general consensus on which is a better mode of event delegation in JS between bubbling and capturing. Now I understand that depending on a particular use-case, one might want to use capturing phase over bubbling or vice versa but I want to understand what delegation mode is preferred for most general cases and why (to me it seems bubbling mode). Or to put it in other words, is there a reason behind W3C addEventListener implementation to favor the bubbling mode. [capturing is initiated only when you specify the 3rd parameter and its true. However, you can forget that 3rd param and bubbling mode is kicked in] I looked up the JQuery's bind function to get an answer to my question and it seems it doesn't even support events in capture phase (it seems to me because of IE not support capturing mode). So looks like bubbling mode is the default choice but why?

On the first build (or rebuild), build fails with error messages for wherever I've used the custom controls. Subsequent builds are successful. • Grails Date Property Editor

  Hey folks, i'm using the jQuery UI datepicker instead of the <g:datePicker>, which is changing the selected date in a textbox. Now I want to save this neatly back into my database, and came across custom property editors. click me hard to see the topic on StackOverflow However, adding this custom PropertyEditor didn't change anything, dates are still displayed like '2010-01-01 00:00:00.0' and if I try to save a date it crashes with Cannot cast object '05.05.2010' with class 'java.lang.String' to class 'java.util.Date'. Is there any additional magic needed, like a special naming of the textbox or something like that? Thanks for your help, Jan

• AS3 Event Bubbling outside of the Scenegraph/DisplayList

  Hi just wondering if it is possible to take advantage of event bubbling in non display list classes in AS3. For example in the model of an application where there is a City class that contains many Cars. What methods are there to attach an event listener to a City object and receive events that bubble up from the child Cars. To clarify The City and Car objects are not part of the display list, they are not DisplayObjects. So can bubbling be implemented outside of the display list somehow? As far as I know, this is not possible without manually attaching event listeners to each Car object and re dispatching the event from the City object. Anyone else have a cleaner solution?

• 32 and 64 bit assemblies in one windows installer

  Hello, I have an application written in C# which depends on sqlite managed provider. The sqlite provider is platform dependent (there are two dlls for 32 and 64 bit applications with the same name). The application loads the desired one at runtime based on OS. The problem is that while creating an installer I cannot add 64 bit mode dll to the setup project as I am getting the following error: File '' targeting '' is not compatible with the project's target platform ''. I would use other installer but I have a custom action which must be invoked during the setup. So I wanted to know if there is an installer which will let me add 32 and 64 bit dll to it and execute custom action written in C#. One possible solution is to have two installers but I would like to avoid it if possible. Any suggestions?

• How do I pan the contents of a div when the right mouse button is dragged?

  I need a cross browser way of capturing the right mouse click, preventing the default context menu and making it where when the user drags the mouse they can pan the contents of a div. This is largely similar to Google maps in that they will grip the contents and drag to see what they want. No external libraries please. I am already capturing the events, and know that this will prevent default actions: if (evt.preventDefault) { evt.preventDefault(); } else { evt.returnValue = false; } But this doesn't prevent the context menu AFAIK.   Hello, I would like to be able to call a function based on its name provided by a string. Something like public void callByName(String funcName){ this.(funcName)(); } I have searched a bit into lambda funcions but they are not supported. I was thinking about going for Reflection, but I am a bit new to programming, so I am not so familiar with the subject. This whole question was brought up on my java OOP class, when I started GUI (Swing, swt) programming, and events. I found that using object.addActionCommand() is very ugly, because I would later need to make a Switch and catch the exact command I wanted. I would rather do something like object.attachFunction(btn1_click), so that it would call the btn1_click function when the event click was raised. Thank you Joao

• Keyboard input for a game in Java

  I'm writing a game in Java, right now it's Swing + JOGL - a JFrame with a GLCanvas. I handle input using keyPressed etc. events (jframe.addKeyListener(...)) and it doesn't seem to work properly: when I have 3+ keys down at the same time, they don't register properly after the window loses, then regains focus, input stops working completely... What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way of handling keyboard input in Java? (I'd rather not switch to another library, like LWJGL... unless I have no choice).

  I'm building an app with a build target of 1.5 . I have a variable, WebView browser, that is calling loadUrl to load a static HTML page from my assets folder. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work. I cannot figure out a concise list of which touch events are available to Android--is it ontouchmove, or touchmove? Am I supposed to set up an onTouchEvent call back in my Java code, which then launches the JavaScript function?

  Hi, I am working on a Flex Front End at the moment, and have been using the Parsley framework for passing messages/events around. I was wondering if there is a simple way for a function (in this case, an event's constructor) to obtain a reference to the object which called it? This is to ensure that a certain event that I am defining can only be dispatched by one specified class. My thinking is to check the caller of the constructor somehow, and throw an error if it is not of the correct type. I am open to suggestions of alternative approaches here, but I would ideally like to stick to using the Parsley 'MessageHandler' approach if at all possible. Thanks for reading guys..
