• Help with Django localization--doesn't seem to be working. Nothing happens

• iPhone, JQTouch and HTML5 audio tags

  I am having an issue with JQTouch (latest beta) and html5 audio tags on 'sub pages' - the audio tag works before any page transitions are done, and cease to work afterward. For example: http://richardprice.dyndns.ws/test.html and http://richardprice.dyndns.ws/test2.html are identical other than I swap the "current" class between the two divs - all the audio tags play the same mp3. On test.html the audio tag on the initial page works, but when you switch to Page 2 the audio tag on that page does not (and sometimes results in a browser crash). Switch back to Page 1 and the audio tag on that page has ceased to work. test2.html is the same test but with the initial pages reversed, and the same thing happens - Page 2 (now the initial page) plays the audio, Page 1 does not, and switching back to Page 2 results in the audio no longer working. Thoughts?

  We just now started doing the A/B testing for our Django based project. Can I get some information on best practices or useful insights about this A/B testing. Ideally each new testing page will be differentiated with a single parameter(just like Gmail). mysite.com/?ui=2 should give a different page. So for every view I need to write a decorator to load different templates based on the 'ui' parameter value. And I dont want to hard code any template names in decorators. So how would urls.py url pattern will be?

• Access MP3 audio data independently of ID3 tags?

  Hi, this is a 2 part question. First off, is it possible to access the audio data in an MP3 independently of the ID3 tags, and secondly, is there any way to do so using available libraries? I recently consolidated my music collection from 3 computers and ended up with songs which had changed ID3 tags, but the audio data itself was unmodified. Running a search for duplicate files failed because the file changed with the ID3 tag change, but I think it should be possible to identify duplicate files if I just run a deduplication using the audio data for comparison. I know that it's possible to seek to a particular position past the ID3 header in the file, and directly read the data, but was wondering if there's a library that would expose the audio data so I could just extract the data, run a checksum on it, and store the computed result somewhere, then look for identical checksums. (Also, I'd probably have to use some kind of library when you take into account variable length headers.)

  Hello. I'm looking into a possible feature for my little to-do application... I like the idea that I can send an email to a particular email address, containing a to-do task I need to complete, and this will be read by my web application and be put in the database... So, when I come to log into my application, the to-do task I emailed will be there as a entry in the app. Is this possible? I have a slice with SliceHost (basically a dedicated server) so I have total control on what to install etc. I'm using Python/Django/MySQL for this. Any ideas on what steps to take to make this happen?

  I've looked at vObject, iCalendar and the official list of CalDAV libraries, including 3 in python. However, I can't find any code that can get me an event object from a given CalDAV (i.e. google, exchange, etc.) server using a username/password. Most of the django calendar related code uses native code libraries and not WebDAV. An ideal python CalDAV client example would 1) use a given uid/pw, 2) obtain primary calendar and 3) obtain next appointment information (i.e. subject, location, start, end, etc.) Thanks!

Here's my test string: <div id="div0" class="myclass">here's some text that may include whitespace</div><div id="div1" class="myclass"> and some more here </div> And here's my regex based on the aforementioned entry: <div[^>]*class="myclass">[^~]*?<\/div> Note that I need to match the first instance of <div /> with class of "myclass."   Hi, I want to use Christian Bach's tableSorter client-side table sorting jQuery plugin with my asp.Net GridView control. But the problem is, in the documentation it writes: tablesorter works on standard HTML tables. You must include THEAD and TBODY tags: And unfortunately asp.net renders my GridView only with tags and header row stays within as the 1st row. I have tried: dgvRate.HeaderRow.TableSection = TableRowSection.TableHeader; after calling .DataBind(); It only helped to have <TH></TH> within the header . But still everything is inside <tbody> Can I accomplish this, I mean moving my 1st row from <tbody></tbody> to <thead></thead> ? I do not want to add it manually on PreRender stage; I am sure this could be handled much simpler, isn't it? thanks

• Is it Me or Are Rails and Django Difficult to Install on Windows?

  I tried getting these frameworks working on Windows Vista for a couple of days but to no avail. Every single time I thought I had them working I would get some random error involving the PostgreSQL or MySQL setup, or the paths were screwed up or some other command line error "not recognized as an internal or external command" (or something). Someone told me that these frameworks are a lot easier to get running on Ubuntu but I really don't want to make that switch as everything I have is on Windows. Are these common problems when trying to get running on Windows? I think I'll just stick with C# and .NET as everything seems to work pretty nicely together with none of this "install-twenty-different-components" stuff and see if they work together. Is Instant Django advisable to use?

• How to reload Django models without losing my locals in an interactive session?

  I'm doing some research with an interactive shell and using a Django app (shell_plus) for storing data and browsing it using the convenient admin. Occasionally I add or change some of the app models, and run a syncdb (or South migration when changing a model). The changes to the models don't take effect in my interactive session even if I re-import the app models. Thus I'm forced to restart the shell_plus and lose my precious locals() in the process. Is there any way to reload the models during a session? Thanks!!

• What is the Simplest Possible Payment Gateway to Implement? (using Django)

  I'm developing a web application that will require users to either make one time deposits of money into their account, or allow users to sign up for recurring billing each month for a certain amount of money. I've been looking at various payment gateways, but most (if not all) of them seem complex and difficult to get working. I also see no real active Django projects which offer simple views for making payments. Ideally, I'd like to use something like Amazon FPS, so that I can see online transaction logs, refund money, etc., but I'm open to other things. I just want the EASIEST possible payment gateway to integrate with my site. I'm not looking for anything fancy, whatever does the job, and requires < 10 hours to get working from start to finish would be perfect. I'll give answer points to whoever can point out a good one.   For TFS task work item, I copy a table from ms word 2003/2007 document and paste it into the description field (supports rich text). When the task item is saved, correct formatting is saved in TFS database table. But when the same data is displayed in a SSRs report (through report manager) the formatting is lost. Probably the ssrs rendering engine is stripping off the tags. I have the "HTML-Interpret HTML tags as styles" enabled for the report field. It will be of great help if someone can provide more information on this issue and how it can be handled. Thanks.

  Hi everyone, I've been hunting for an answer to this on South's site, google, and SO, but couldn't find a simple way to do this. I want to rename a Django model using South. Say you have the following: class Foo(models.Model): name = models.CharField() class FooTwo(models.Model): name = models.CharField() foo = models.ForeignKey(Foo) and you want to convert Foo to Bar, namely class Bar(models.Model): name = models.CharField() class FooTwo(models.Model): name = models.CharField() foo = models.ForeignKey(Bar) To keep it simple, I'm just trying to change the name from Foo to Bar, but ignore the 'foo' member in FooTwo for now. What's the easiest way to do this using South? a) I could probably do a data migration, but that seems pretty involved. b) Write a custom migration, e.g. db.rename_table('city_citystate', 'geo_citystate'), but I'm not sure how to fix the foreign key in this case. c) An easier way that you know?   I'm using django.test.client.Client to test whether some text shows up when a user is logged in. However, I the Client object doesn't seem to be keeping me logged in. • How do I set up a test duplicate of a Django and Postgresql based web application?

  Not sure if this is an excessively broad and newbie-ish question for Stack Overflow but here goes: I paid someone else to build a web application for me and now I want to tweak certain aspects of it myself. I learn best by trial and error – changing stuff and seeing what happens. Obviously that's not a great way to treat a live site, so I need to duplicate the site on some kind of test server which I can play with without fear of the consequences. Unfortunately the closest I've come to programming has been creating ActionScript-based websites. I've never touched a database. So I really don't know where to start with setting up a test server. I would really appreciate any advice about where to start. I am completely ignorant and lost here. The web application is built in python/django using a Postgresql database. I use Mac OS X 10.6 if that makes any difference.
