  • Problems installing W2K8 SP2

    Hello - We are having difficulty installing SP2 on a W2K8 SP1 x64 server. When we try to do this through Windows Updates, it runs for about 1 minute and then says that it completed successfully (when clearly it did not). When we run the file manually via the download, the install fails with the following error code: 0x800f0823 I have tried running the System Update Readiness Tool (KB947821), but that did not work. Additional info about the server: It is a domain controller, also running MS-Exchange 2007 SP1 (v8.01.0336.000). Any assistance that could be provided would be greatly appreciated. In you need any more info about the server, please let me know! Thanks!

    I'm new to Ubuntu and have been away from Linux for a while. I'm used to Windows and find this tedious on Linux but I want to give it a shot. My tendency is to prefer GUI tools over command-line, and Ubuntu is a distro that seems to cater to usability. I note it is based somewhat on apt-get which I've heard good things about. What's the best practise for installing apps on Ubuntu? Should I prefer to try my options in this order? Synaptic Package Manger apt-get on the command line .tar.gz files (old school)

  • Silverlight 4 mising from Visual Studio 2010

    Hi I've just finished installing Visual Studio 2010 professional onto Vista. But don't seem to have Silverlight 4. If I try to create a new project I can see Silverlight project templates but only seem to be able to target Silverlight 3. Is Silverlight 4 not part of vs2010 pro by default? I also noticed the msbuild targets is missing ie the v4.0 folder doesn't exist at the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\Silverlight\ Any help/thoughts would be much appreciated.   • Windows always logs in to temporary profile (thinks it is in D while it is in C)

    I have Windows on C: Disk 0 Partition 1 When I start it works fine until the login screen. When I log in, it starts to display "preparing your desktop.." and logs in to a temporary profile. I have to run explorer.exe manually then using task manager. If I execute %SystemRoot% it tells me that Windows could not find D:\Windows. (while Windows is in C:) I have no such drive as D then why Windows is thinking it is in D? I've tried this Bootmanager is missing but it did not work. Bootrec /ScanOS from Windows setup gives me Total identified Windows installations: 0 Also note that Windows Setup correctly thinks windows is installed on C but Windows itself thinks it is on D.

  • Why would my VPN connection work better than my direct connection?

    I have a new Windows 7 64bit laptop, which connects wirelessly to a ASDL router/modem. With my regular connection, page requests often time out - usually with form submissions. When I use the same connection to connect to a VPN (using OpenVPN) the requests seem to work fine. These are not requests to sites that are only available via the VPN - just regular websites I think this is specific to this new laptop (provided and set up by my employer) - other machines work fine.     I've been trying to follow Scott Hanselman's post on installing the Win8 RP on a vhd, using the win8 .iso on a dvd, but the install wont start.   • C# Bind DataTable to Existing DataGridView Column Definitions

    I've been struggling with a NullReferenceException and hope someone here will be able to point me in the right direction. I'm trying to create and populate a DataTable and then show the results in a DataGridView control. The basic code follows, and Execution stops with a NullReferenceException at the point where I invoke the new UpdateResults_Delegate. Oddly enough, I can trace entries.Rows.Count successfully before I return it from QueryEventEntries, so I can at least show 1) entries is not a null reference, and 2) the DataTable contains rows of data. I am refactoring old code that retrieved records from a database, collected those records as an array, and then later iterated through the array to populate a DataGridView row by row. Threading was originally implemented to compensate and keep the UI responsive during the unnecessary looping. I have since stripped out Thread/Invoke; everything now occurs on the same execution thread (thank you, Sam). I am attempting to replace the slow, unwieldy approach using a DataTable which I can fill with a DataAdapter, and assign to the DataGridView through it's DataSource property (above code updated). The fields in the DataTable are appended to the list of fields that have been pre-specified in Design view of the DataGridView. The records' values are being populated in these appended fields. When the run time attempts to render the cell a null value is provided (as the value that should be rendered is done so a couple columns over). In light of this, I am re-titling and re-tagging the question. I would still appreciate it if others who have experienced this can instruct me on how to go about binding the DataTable to the existing column definitions of the DataGridView.

  • Clickonce installation fails after addition of WCF service project

    So I have a winform solution, deployed via clickonce. Eveything worked fine until i added a WCF project. (see error in parsing the manifest file at end of post) Now I notice that MSBuild compiles the service into a _PublishedWebsites dir. I don't know what the need for this is, but I am suspecting this is the cause of the problem. This wcf project references some other projects within the solution. I am actually hosting the wcf service within the application so I don't really need MSBuild to do all this for me.   • Help required in adding new methods, properties into existing classes dynamically

    Hi All, I am not sure whether it is possible to achieve this kind of implementation in Dot Net. Below are the information Currently we are on an application which is done in COM+, ASP, XSL, XML technologies. It is a multi tier architecture application in which COM+ acts as the BAL. The execution steps for any CRUD operation will be defined using a seperate UI which uses XML to store the information. BAL reads the XML and understands the execution steps which are defined and executes corresponding methods in DLL. Much like EDM we have our custom model (using XML) which determines which property of object is searchable, retrievable etc. Based on this information BAL constructs queries and calls procedures to get the data. In the current application both BAL and DAL are heavily customizable without doing any code change. the results will be transmitted to presentation layer in XML format which constructs the UI based on the data recieved. Now I am creating a migration project which deals with employee information. It is also going to follow the N Tier architecture in which the presentation layer communicates with BAL which connects to DAL to return the Data. Here is the problem, In our existing version we are handling every information as XML in its native form (no converstion of object etc), but in the migration project, Team is really interested in utilizing the OOP model of development where every information which is sent from BAL need to be converted to objects of its respective types (example employeeCollection, Address Collection etc). If we have the static number of data returned from BAL we can have a class which contains those nodes as properties and we can access the same. But in our case the data returned from our BAL need to be customized. How can we handle the customization in presentation layer which is converting the result to an Object. We will not provide the source code for the same. Now when the consultants or customers does customization(example adding country to address and adding passport information object with employee object) they must be able to access those properties in these classes, but without source code they will not be able to do those modifications.which makes the application useless. Is there is any way to acomplish this in DotNet. I thought of using Anonymous classes but, the problem with Anonymous classes are we can not have methods in it. I am not sure how can i fit the collection objects (which will be inturn an anonymous class) Not sure about datagrid / user control binding etc. I also thought of using CODEDom to create classes runtime but not sure about the meory, performance issues. also the classes must be created only once and must use the same till there is another change. Kindly help me out in this problem. Any kind of help meterial/ cryptic code/ links will be helpful.

    I have downloaded and installed the latest Window V2 Community M06 build of Neo4j on a windows 7 64 bit machine (I have tried the 32bit and 64 bit installs). Installation proceeds without and problems and the system runs normally but there is no /plugins directory (on both versions):- \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\ \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\.install4j \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\bin I am trying to install the Spatial plugin .. so I tried creating the \plugins directory.     It was easy to check if VSTO 2005 SE was installed by just calling MsiGetProductInfo() with the product code {388E4B09-3E71-4649-8921-F44A3A2954A7}, as listed in MSDN. What is the product code for the VSTO 2010/4.0 runtime? Or is there a better way to determine if it's already installed? This is for our installation process. Thanks! Also, I am trying to figure out the same for Windows Imaging Component.

  • android: what is INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES error?

    I was trying to change my default/main/startup (whatever you call it) activity by editing the androidmanifest.xml file. All i did was change the android:name property. however, this completely broke the entire app. when i try to install it fails and reads Installation error: INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES when i tried to change it back to its previous state, it was still giving me the same error... what have i done!?!?!

    On my current system i dont have root-access and i want to install sqlite3-ruby. I can compile it and i know how to set custom install-folder, but how does my ruby-installation can recognize/find that installed gem for usage? I tried prefix of my custom RUBYLIB-Folder but that didnt work either. Any suggestions? Thanks skully
