  • Dell fumbles OpenManage installation process, forgets to write documentation?

    Hi all, I'm setting up a Dell PowerEdge 2950 for a small business, and I've just spent a while with Dell OpenManage Server Administrator 6.2, trying to clear the installation process of errors before I execute it. Right now I'm getting the following warning from the installer. The installer has detected that the HTTPS listener is not configured for Windows Remote Management. You can either configure the HTTPS listener before installing Remote Enablement, or install Remote Enablement now by selecting the "Custom" installation screen and configure the HTTPS listener later. See the "Remote Enablement Requirements" section in the "Dell OpenManage Installation and Security User's Guide" for information on configuring the HTTPS listener. Note: Remote Enablement is required to manage this system from a remote Server Administrator Web Server and is applicable only for those systems that support Server Instrumentation. Click here to configure HTTPs Listener for Windows Remote Management. The italicized line is a link, which executes...something...via cmd, and doesn't seem to help the problem. Not knowing exactly what to do here, I consulted the documentation. I read through the Setup and Administration section of the User's Guide, but all that it contained was a weird primer on role-based security and some SNMP stuff. The next section skips installation entirely and moved on to features of the suite. Thinking myself crazy, I consulted the readme, which told me that for installation I should consult the "Dell OpenManage Installation and Security Version 6.2 User's Guide" which not only doesn't exist in the documentation, but also not in all of google? Soo yeah, if anyone is familiar with this problem, drop me some knowledge!

  • How to register file types/extensions with a WiX installer?

    I didn't find an explicit answer to this question in the WiX Documentation (or Google, for that matter). Of course I could just write the appropriate registry keys in HKCR, but it makes me feel dirty and I'd expect this to be a standard task which should have a nice default solution. For bonus points, I'd like to know how to make it "safe", i.e. don't overwrite existing registrations for the file type and remove the registration on uninstall only if it has been registered during installation and is unchanged.

There are several tutorials out there that try to explain how to do so, but they don't seem to work.     So I installed a trial of SQL Server 2008 enterprise edition while waiting for MSDN licenses to come through - I now want to uninstall the trial and replace it with a developer edition installation. However, I'd like to first know how long I have left on the trial. Is there a way to do this programmatically with SQL? I looked at create_date in sys.databases, but these give dates that are in 2003 (which is, I guess, when master and model were originally created).

  • Windows repair console, imposible?

    Hi guys, I found an old Windows XP SP2 in my -trash- cd can and tryed it on a 30 gb FAT32 partition. Installation went fine till the copying operation was completed and XP asked for reboot. After that either it starts over again or throws invalid disk. Starting over is an infinite loop the only way I see is to choose the "Repair console" but i'm not used to a dos box. Can anyone help me through this harmful instalation? Cheers, Daniel

  • Cocoa Browser Air missing iPhone docs. Can't find xcode DocSets?

    I installed Cocoa Browser Air at home from the same installation file (for 2.4.1) that works fine at work. Its info for Mac OS X 10.6 looks OK, but there's nothing under either iPhone 3.1 or 3.2. I've installed the appropriate Documentation Sets in Xcode Preferences-Documentation, and I have an iPhone SDK, which is required to refer to iPhone DocSets. I'm using the Xcode version 3.2.2.     I have a database, and i want to force a restore over top of it. I check the option: Overwrite the existing database (WITH REPLACE) But, as expected, SSMS is unable to overwrite the existing database. Of course i don't want different filenames; i want to overwrite the existing database. How do i force a restore over an existing database? And for Google search crawler: File '%s' is claimed by '%s'(4) and '%s"(3). The WITH MOVE clause can be used to relocate one or more files. RESTORE DATABASE is terminating abnormally. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 3176) Update The script (before i deleted the database, because i needed to get it done) was: RESTORE DATABASE [HealthCareGovManager] FILE = N'HealthCareGovManager_Data', FILE = N'HealthCareGovManager_Archive', FILE = N'HealthCareGovManager_AuditLog' FROM DISK = N'D:\STAGING\HealthCareGovManager10232013.bak' WITH FILE = 1, MOVE N'HealthCareGovManager_Data' TO N'D:\CGI Data\HealthCareGovManager.MDF', MOVE N'HealthCareGovManager_Archive' TO N'D:\CGI Data\HealthCareGovManager.ndf', MOVE N'HealthCareGovManager_AuditLog' TO N'D:\CGI Data\HealthCareGovManager.ndf', MOVE N'HealthCareGovManager_Log' TO N'D:\CGI Data\HealthCareGovManager.LDF', NOUNLOAD, REPLACE, STATS = 10 I used the UI to delete the existing database, so that i could use the UI to force an overwrite of the (non)existing database. Hopefully there can be an answer so that the next guy can have an answer. No, nobody was in the context of the database (The error message from other connections is quite different from this error, and i only got to see this error after i killed the other connections).

  • drag drop no longer working once application gets installed.

    I have an application that has drag and drop functionality to import images and video's. While developing, and testing through Visual Studio this has never given any problems. After installing through a set up project, everything in the application works fine, except the drag and drop, which seems to be doing nothing. Are there any security settings that need to be set through an installer, or something of that nature that could be preventing drag and drop after installation ?

  • Problem installing PyQt4 on Windows 7

    I have a problem installing PyQt4. I have Windows 7 with Python 3.1.2 installed. When I execute the PyQt-Py3.1-gpl-4.7.3-2.exe it shows the warning: This copy of PyQt has been built against Python v3.1 which doesn't seem to be installed. Do you wish to continue with the installation? Why the installer can't see my python installtion???, I set the PYTHONHOME env variable and added python to the PATH variable but is always the same warn. I don't know if the last .2 in my python's version is the problem. If I ignore the warning and install the PyQt, when I try to run the Examples and Demos from the All Programs menu it doesn't show anything. Im new to python and Qt, I don't know how to debug or something to solve this problem =S

    We have a "legacy" WPF applicaton that is based on a NavigationWindow. The NavigationWindow has a fairly large ControlTemplate that houses a ContentPresenter as so: <ControlTemplate> ....snip... <ContentPresenter x:Name="PART_NavWinCP" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"/> .....snip.... </ControlTemplate> What we want to do is use that ContentPresenter as the first tab and dynamically add other tabs at run time. Like this: <ControlTemplate> ....snip... <TabControl Background="Transparent" cal:RegionManager.RegionName="MainRegion" Grid.ColumnSpan="2" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"> <TabItem Header="Nav Window Content"> <ContentPresenter x:Name="PART_NavWinCP" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"/> </TabItem> </TabControl> .....snip.... </ControlTemplate> Then our Modules grab the RegionName and insert their content dynamically. The issue seems to be that the PRISM region manager doesn't like that our code is in a ContentTemplate and cannot resolve the region. I have tried updating the RegionManager, adding the Region dynamically, just having a root tab control without the ContentPresenter, but I cannot get this to work. Any ideas?

  • Shell extension installation not recognized by Windows 7 64-bit shell

    I have a Copy Hook Handler shell extension that I'm trying to install on Windows 7 64-bit. The shell extension DLL is compiled in two separate versions for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. The DLL implements DLLRegisterServer which adds the necessary registry entries. After adding the registry entries, it calls the following line of code to nofity the Windows shell: SHChangeNotify(SHCNE_ASSOCCHANGED, SHCNF_IDLIST, NULL, NULL); Everything works great on Windows7 32-bit. The shell recognizes the extension immediately. On 64-bit, the shell extension is only recognized after the shell is restarted. Is there anything I can do to cause the extension to be recognized without restarting the 64-bit shell?

    After uinstalling VS2012 and installing back Visual Studio 2010 C# Express I was getting strane warning: 2008 is not a valid number so I decided to reinstall VS2010, but I couldn't uinstall it. I was getting error: Suite Integration Toolkit Executable has stopped working. I managed to uinstall VS2010 with VS2010 Uinstall Tool, but now I want to install Visual Studio 2010 C# Express back. I'm getting Suite Integration Toolkit[...] error again when I try to install it using web installer. Could you help me resolve my problem? And I've got Tablet PC Components function disabled in Control Panel / Programs and Utilites.
