  I previously installed Ubuntu on a computer that had Windows XP on it and got it successfully to run alongside it. (access both OS systems) Now I installed Ubuntu again on my MSI notebook with Windows 8.1, and I cannot access the GRUB without hitting escape on startup, and even then, I can no longer open windows. Before all of this, I created a recovery point, file history and saved a back up on a external hard drive incase I did anything wrong. Now how can I revert my computer back to it's state before installation.

(I don't want to run it through a Virtual Machine.) I would prefer to dual boot it, given that my hard drive has so much space.   I need some code example on how I would use a filepath from a harddrive location to then play a .wav sound file when opened in swing GUI. I don't need it to show a play button, or pause or stop. I just want it to play when I select the 'Sound' option from my 'Files' in my window (I know how to do that already, no need to explain that). So basically, just how to play a .wav sound file from a filepath (i.e. c:/cake/thereisnone.wav) inside of a JFrame. And how can I easily apply methods to that sound file afterwards. Also, if anyone knows how to apply methods on a BufferedImage in a JFrame, that would be helpful too. Thank you very much everyone!

  Have a strange problem in that I have a Rake task that seems to be using multiple versions of Ruby. When one fails, it seems to try another one. Details MacBook running 10.6.5 rvm 1.1.0 Rubies: 1.8.7-p302, ree-1.8.7-2010.02, ruby-1.9.2-p0 Rake 0.8.7 Gem 1.3.7 Veewee (provisioning Virtual Machines using Opcode.com, Vagrant and Chef) I'm not entirely sure the specific details of the error matter, but since it might be an issue with Veewee itself. So, what I'm trying to do is build a new box base on a veewee definition. The command fails with an error about a missing method- but what's interesting is how it fails. Errors I managed to figure out that if I only have one Ruby installed with RVM, it just fails. If I have more than one Ruby install, it fails at the same place, but execution seems to continue in another interpreter. Here are two different clipped console outputs. I've clipped them for size.   Hello, I'm executing sql query on my database. I have SQL Server 2008 installed on my D harddrive which has 55 GB free space. I have also C drive which has sth like 150 MB free (right now). While executing that query on quite a big table (16 GB) I have an error: An error occurred while executing batch. Error message is: Not enough disk space. I would like to know if there is any possibility that I can make SQL Server to use D drive instead of C Or maybe there is any other problem with what I'm doing ? Thanks for help

  Hi I am using asp.net mvc 1.0 and I want to return a XML file but I also want to return a strongly typed data back so I can update some fields. Like the XML file will contain users who failed to be inserted into the database. So I want that to appear as a dialog save box what asp.net mvc return file() would do. However I also want to return on the page like values like how many users failed to be added, how many users where added, etc. So I want to use scafolding with the class file I want to pass it along. If this was a view I could pass it along as an object model but I don't see a parameter for that in File(). I also don't want to save the xml file onto the harddrive I want to do it through memory. So have a link that would display on the page to download the file and show the the data I want would not be desired.

I installed Squid 2.7 Stable 8 on Windows 2008 SP2 trying to configure NTLM based authentication when surfing Internet. Basically have defined 2 groups for internet allow and deny based on authorization Internet access is allowed. But after trying for over 3 weeks, seems that the authentication does not happen. The browser keeps on asking for user name & password. I would like to know if there is any solution for this. I’m totally frustrated and unable to move forward. • Cisco: Site-to-site VPN with cisco 878 and ASA weirdness

  I currently have 2 sites, both connected to each other through 2 firewalls / routers in a site-to-site VPN. Pinging from server to server (Using 2mb/2mb SDSL) through that VPN obviously works, however, at one site, we have another internet connection (7m/400k ADSL), and only the link between the two sites should be on the other connection. All pc's should go over the other connection for internet, just communication between servers & Communication between pc's and the server at the other side should go through there too. What is configured at the moment is the server is using the SDSL directly as default gateway. Since it's not intended to surf anything it is a safe config. PC's are configured on the ADSL as default gateway. Now I wanted to route through everything that uses the range used on the other site, it should be sent from the ADSL modem to the SDSL modem, which has the VPN connection. I figured I could use OSPF to do so, however, OSPF doesn't seem to "detect" the range of the external site. Also (due to bad ip subnetting thanks to the other administrator), the ip used internally as the server on the other site also exists on the internet (causing a lot of confusion), so rdp-ing from our server to the server of the other site works (somehow), but tracerouting on the SDSL router (which should actually, in my opinion, go over the VPN) actually goes all over the internet. My question(s): Why doesn't the SDSL router ping the external ip through VPN, but the server does? Why can't I route from the ADSL router to the SDSL over VPN? I would seriously appreciate some help, since I can't figure out why it does it like this.

• Audio Static/Interference regardless of audio interface?

  I currently am running a media center/server on a Lubuntu machine. The machine specs: Core 2 Duo Extreme EVGA SLI 680i MotherBoard 2 GB DDR2 Ram 3 Hard Drives no raid - WD Caviar Black, Green, and Samsung Spinpoint Galaxy GTX 220 1GB External USB Creative XI-FI Extreme Card 550W Power Supply This machine is hooked up through an optical cable to an ONKYO HTR340 Receiver through the XIFI card. Whenever I play any audio regardless if it is through XBMC, the default audio player, a flash video, etc, I get a horrible static sound that randomly gets louder. So far I have tried everything I could think of: Reinstalling OS Installing/upgrading/repairing PulseAudio/Alsa Installing alternate OSes, straight Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Arch, Mint, Windows 7 Switching audio from the external card to internal Optical, audio out through HDMI, audio out through headphones Different ports on receiver (my main desktop sounds fine on the same sound system) Different optical cables Unplugging everything unnecessary from the motherboard (1 HD, 1 Stick of Ram, 1 Keyboard) Swapping out ram Swapping out the motherboard Replacing the Graphics Card (was replaced due to fan being noisy, not specifically for this problem) Different harddrives Swapping power supply Disabling onboard audio Pretty much everything short of swapping the CPU. I haven't been able to narrow down the problem and it is getting frustrating. Is it possible that the CPU is faulty and might cause a problem such as this, or that the PC case is shorting out the motherboard? Any kind of suggestions will be appreciated.

• Cisco Spam Blocker, Iron Port, Lotus Domino, Integration Help

  Hi serverfault universe, I work for a medium sized (roughly 200 user) company. We are attempting to intagrate our new Cisco Spam Video Blocker (ironport) device into our network so that it acts as an incoming filter then passes it off to our Lotus domino mail server. And also vise versa. The way our network is setup currently has an mx record pointing to our Domino mail SMTP incoming server which is currently setup to be an inbound gateway and filter (using symantec domino mail software). We want to replace the inbound gateway with the ironport. Our company has also invested in a pool of external IP addresses which I believe has been currently assigned to our web, email, servers. What would the proper course of action be to successfully integrate the device be? Mx record change? Replace the domino gateway completely with the ironport? We attempted to set the ironport device to the external IP of what our mx record is pointing to without much success. Any help on proper setup would be greatly appreciated.

• TeamCity EC2 Integration via ISA Server

  I have a TeamCity server which is actually installed on SBS 2003 Premium with ISA Server (firewall/proxy) installed. My ADSL connection has multiple IP addresses, which all resolve directly to my SBS external NIC. The NIC is therefore multi-homed and I have allocated one of the IP addresses specifically to TeamCity. In ISA, I've created an access rule to allow the traffic in. I can access my TeamCity server externally and view the web interface, that all works fine. I want to use the Amazon EC2 integration in TeamCity to launch build agents 'in the cloud'. The problem I am having is that when the agent starts, it sees the server and registers, then just sits there waiting. On the server side, the agent appears as 'disconnected'. Examining the settings, the agent's IP address appears to be that of the external NIC. What I think might be happening is that the traffic is undergoing Network Address Translation (NAT) so that TeamCity always thinks the agent is locally installed and therefore can't communicate with the actual remote agent. This seems to happen even though I have a permanent static IP address dedicated to TeamCity. So, the question is this. How can I make traffic to a specific IP address pass through the ISA server un-NATted?

• Route specific HTTP requests through pfSense OpenVPN

  Hi, to start, I have very little knowledge on routes, iptables, etc. That said, here's what I'm trying to accomplish and where I think I'm stumped: Problem: We have an external website which we recently firewalled so it only accepts traffic from our office IP addresses. This works well at the office, but doesn't work for remote access through VPN as we don't route all traffic through OpenVPN. I would rather avoid forcing everyone to route all traffic through just to accommodate this one site. Environment: Main router box is running pfSense. Em0 is internal IP, Em1 is external. Internal net is 10.23.x and VPN is 10.0.8.0/24 I believe what I need to do is add a route to the VPN server config to send all traffic to that IP over the VPN tunnel. I think that part's working, but I don't get a response back, so I'm assuming that I need some NAT config on the VPN server to route the response back over the tunnel? What I've found so far is to try the following, but since this is a pfSense box on FreeBSD, I can't run iptables, etc. Make sure ip forwarding is enabled: echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward Setup NAT back out: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 10.0.8.0/24 -o em0 -j MASQUERADE Am I on the right path, and if so how do I accomplish this through pfSense UI or FreeBSD CLI? Thanks!
